Description

The full-time whistle has gone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the Premier League match between Spurs and Wolves, and the player ratings are in.

It was an awful performance for Thomas Frank’s side who managed to dig out a 1-1 draw courtesy of Joao Palhinha’s injury time strike.

How the Spurs players rated against Wolves

Below, we have given each Tottenham player a performance rating on a scale of 0-10, with 10 highest score achievable for an impressive performance.

Guglielmo Vicario – 3

Had a quiet first half but was partly at fault for Wolves’ opening when he palmed the ball away rather than catching it. Some questionable distribution with his feet.

Djed Spence – 5

His social media will be quiet this weekend. Came off in the 62nd minute for Porro.

Cristian Romero – 5

His effort which went miles over the bar in the second half summer up the performance.

Micky van de Ven – 5

His frustration was clear to see when he was tackled by Tchatchoua.

Destiny Udogie – 6

Saw plenty of the ball in attacking areas in the first half, but with Wolves bringing on the pacey Jackson Tchatchoua at half-time, he wasn’t as adventurous. Replaced on 82 mins.

Joao Palhinha – 8

Some solid tackles and took his goal beautifully to salvage a point. His second in as many matches, the club need to get a permanent deal wrapped up and fast.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 5

Replaced on 61 minutes for Johnson. Had limited impact on the match, especially in attacking phases.

Lucas Bergvall – 6

Linked up well with Kudus, but was unable to have any positive impact after the break. Replaced on 77 mins by Sarr.

Xavi Simons – 1

His first half was woeful by anyone’s standards and his second wasn’t any better. Hooked on 77 mins. Frank made a huge error not playing him in the 10 role.

Mohammed Kudus – 6

Had two of Tottenham’s best chances in the first half when his header was tipped onto the bar and shot late in the half. Looked leggy in the second period.

Richarlison – 5

Chances were few and far between. His best coming when he headed over on 79 mins.

Substitutes

Brennan Johnson – 5

Did nothing of note.

Pedro Porro – 5

Did nothing of note.

Wilson Odobert – 5

Such a frustrating dribbler, so much pace but struggles to carry the ball with any threat.

Pape Matar Sarr – 5

Did nothing of note.

Mathys Tel – N/A

An 82nd minute replacement for Udogie.

The first half of Premier League action has just come to a close between Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Both sides are now preparing to head back onto the pitch for the second half and we have given our analysis on the performances of the Tottenham players who have featured in the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham came into the match on a back of a 3-0 win against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Thomas Frank has made some changes with the likes of Destiny Udogie, Richarlison and Micky van de Ven coming back into the starting eleven.

The score remains deadlocked at 0-0 with Tottenham needing to make their pressure count if they are to secure the victory.

How the Spurs players rated in the first half vs Wolves

Below, we have given each Tottenham player a performance rating on a scale of 0-10, with 10 highest score achievable for an impressive performance.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Guglielmo Vicario – 6

Back in goal after being rested in midweek and has had nothing to do.

Djed Spence – 6

Has dealt well with the rare Wolves attacking threat.

Cristian Romero – 6

The captain has had a quiet first half with Wolves not posing any threat down the middle, aside from the visitors’ counter attack late in the half.

Micky van de Ven – 6

Made a solid tackle early on, but like Romero has had little to do defensively.

Destiny Udogie – 6

A start for the Italian as he continues to build his match fitness. Has seen plenty of the ball down the left and made a vital block to deny Wolves a shot on goal in added time.

Joao Palhinha – 6

Has put in some solid tackles and saw a diving header on goal blocked.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Has operated mostly on the left of midfield to help try to create an overlap for Udogie.

Lucas Bergvall – 7

Had a good opportunity to open the scoreline when the ball fell to him but fluffed his volley wide. Played a nice flick for Kudus’ disallowed effort. Unfortunately saw his acronbatic effort go over the crossbar.

Xavi Simons – 3

Operating from the left despite impressing in the 10 role at Brighton. Had a few heavy touches in the first 20 minutes and was booked just after the half hour mark.

Mohammed Kudus – 7

Came close to opening the scoring when his backpost header was tipped onto the bar. Though he had opened the scoring, but was flagged for offside. Stung the hands of the keeper with a strong effort just before half time.

Richarlison – 6

No clear cut chances for the Brazilian, who has been limited to hold up play to bring his team-mates into attacking areas.

Tottenham vs Wolves confirmed Premier League team line-ups – Frank makes changes - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has selected his Tottenham Hotspur team for the Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening.

Tottenham turn their attention back to the top flight following the 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Doncaster Rovers in midweek.

Frank’s side showed good spirit to fight back against Brighton having gone two goals down to earn a point at the Amex with a 2-2 draw, where they were the better team.

Wolves find themselves bottom of the table after suffering five straight defeats in the league, with Spurs fans certainly wary of an upset.

What is the Tottenham team vs Wolves?

Randal Kolo Muani is missing once again due to a dead leg sustained in training, while Dominic Solanke is still out with an ankle issue.

Frank said at Friday’s press conference when asked about Solanke: “Dominic’s ankle injury has been a little bit tricky. It’s not too big. Hopefully he’ll be back quick. It’s not perfect, but we are going forward in the right direction.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Radu Dragusin is progressing well from his ACL injury, but is not yet ready to return, while Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are still some way off first-team action.

Wolves: Johnstone; Doherty, S. Bueno, Krejci, H. Bueno; Andre, Gomes; Munetsi, Arias, Hwang; Strand Larsen.

Wolves have an impressive recent record against Tottenham, unbeaten in the last five meetings and earned a point in the corresponding fixture last season.

Description

The race for Harry Kane’s signature continues to heat up, and it has been revealed that yet another European giant is now ready to turn their attention to Tottenham’s record goalscorer.

It is understandable why the speculation over the England captain’s future has gone into hyperdrive, as it came to light earlier this month that Kane’s release clause drops to just £57m next summer.

Even though the centre-forward turns 33 next summer, he is showing no signs of a decline, and an opportunity to sign a generational number nine for that fee is understandably tempting to several clubs.

It has emerged over recent days that Barcelona and Chelsea are ready to battle Tottenham for Kane’s signature should the striker decide to leave Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid enter the race for Tottenham legend Harry Kane

TBR Football have now spoken to journalist Graeme Bailey about the former Spurs man’s future, and he has some bad news for the Lilywhites.

He reveals that it is not just Barca who are eyeing the England star, but also their fierce rivals Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez said to be a huge fan of the striker.

Bailey said: “Both Real and Barca have huge respect for Harry Kane. They love the way he holds himself, the way he comes across; he is the consummate professional.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Florentino Perez and Joan Laporta would both love to land him, and at 32, he still has a few very good years left in him.

“Clearly, should Kane move, a return to England would be appealing given the all-time Premier League goalscorer record is within his sights, which could be a huge lure for him.”

Bayern Munich plan move amidst Kane transfer speculation

Reports from Germany have claimed over recent months that the Bayern hierarchy fears this will be Kane’s final season in Bavaria.

However, this latest update by TBR Football claims that Bayern are confident that their star striker does not want to leave the Allianz Arena.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to cash in on some of their unwanted players over the next two windows, and one loan move is going a long way to achieving that goal.

It is fair to say that Manor Solomon never really got going at Tottenham. Two assists in six games was quickly followed by a season-ending injury, and the Israeli winger hasn’t been seen since.

Crystal Palace pulled out of a loan move for Solomon in the final hours of the transfer window, after initially agreeing to sign the player in a temporary deal.

Spurs were fuming at Palace’s behaviour in the Solomon deal, but the North London club had just about enough time to strike an agreement with Villarreal, and it appears the 26-year-old has settled in very quickly in Spain.

Tottenham’s Manor Solomon nets late match-winner for Villarreal

The Tottenham winger did not get a chance to impress against his parent club last week as Villarreal fell to a 1-0 loss in the Champions League against Spurs.

However, he has come on as an impact substitute in the club’s last two La Liga matches against Osasuna and Sevilla.

On Wednesday in Seville, the on-loan Tottenham winger was introduced in the 84th minute, and scored the match-winner just two minutes after coming on, putting the finishing touches to the away side’s counter-attack as they emerged 2-1 winners.

Manor Solomon is the toast of the local media at Villarreal

The Spanish media is seemingly impressed with what they have seen from the former Shakhtar Donetsk man in the first weeks of the season.

One publication even labelled the Tottenham Hotspur winger’s impact at the club as ‘spectacular’ following his latest match-winner

Bayern Munich director speaks out on rumours Harry Kane could return to Tottenham

Bayern Munich director speaks out on rumours Harry Kane could return to Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Bayern Munich director of sport Max Eberl has made some interesting comments about Harry Kane’s future amid links with Tottenham.

According to various sources, Kane can leave Bayern for £57m next summer, due to a clause in his contract.

However, it has been reported that the striker would have to inform the German giants by the end of January if he wants to leave, and only then will the clause become active.

We have heard from very reliable sources that Tottenham will activate their first-refusal clause for Kane if he wants to return, but it is unclear at the moment what the 32-year-old will do.

Max Eberl has now refused to rule out the possibility of Kane leaving the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, admitting that the decision lies with the striker.

However, he added that the England captain is singularly focused on helping the Bundesliga club win titles at the moment.

When asked about Kane’s release clause, the Bayern director told BILD: “He’s old enough to make his own decisions. Whether it’s a clause or no clause, whatever – if he says he wants to make a decision, then he’ll make it, as he showed at Tottenham. But our wish is, of course, to be very, very successful with Harry this season and in the future! At his age, he’s making huge progress on the pitch.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“We all knew him from Tottenham from his goal-scoring skills, but the way he’s playing football right now in this team, leading the way on the pitch as a leader, sacrificing himself for the team, shows: He simply wants to win titles! That’s his hunger, he can do it with us, we want to do it with him.”

Spurs will face competition for Kane but they have an advantage

Tottenham Hotspur are not the only ones eyeing a move for the 32-year-old next summer after the details of his release clause came to light.

According to reports, Barcelona and Chelsea are prepared to challenge Spurs in their pursuit of Kane at the end of this season, but apart from their first-refusal clause, the Lilywhites may have another advantage in the transfer race.

Worry for Tottenham as 2024/25 Player of the Year is stuck on the bench out on loan - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have seen great success with some of their loan moves so far this season, but one highly-rated midfielder continues to struggle for game time.

The Spurs attacking midfielder showcased his talent in League One last season, with Jamie Donley being named Leyton Orient’s Player of the Year after spearheading their promotion push.

The 20-year-old is thought of very highly at Hotspur Way, and it came as no surprise when Tottenham decided to loan him to the Championship this term, with the midfielder joining Ashley Phillips at Stoke City.

His spell started on the perfect note, with Donley picking up an assist in his first outing for Stoke, but it has been downhill since for the Spurs academy graduate.

Tottenham’s Jamie Donley continues to warm the bench for Stoke City

Donley was once again an unused sub on Saturday as Stoke City fell to a 1-0 defeat away at QPR.

In his latest loan review of the Tottenham players, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold points out that the Spurs midfielder has not got any minutes in the Potters’ last four Championship outings.

This is despite the fact that Stoke have lost three of their last four games across all competitions.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Phillips is not faring much better, with the centre-back not having been involved in the club’s last three games. Gold concludes that if the pair’s situation does not change, they could both be back in Tottenham in January.

Donley will believe that he can turn around his fortunes at Stoke

It is worth remembering that Donley did not have the best of starts to his spell at Orient last season, struggling to get minutes in the first couple of months of the campaign.

However, he finished the season as the club’s most important player, dominating League One while displaying incredible consistency.

The 20-year-old will believe he can do the same at Stoke, and with the club’s results being poor of late (even though they sit second in the table), his opportunities might be around the corner.

Description

After a difficult start to his loan spell at Rangers, Tottenham’s Mikey Moore finally appears to be showcasing his quality for the Scottish side.

When Moore completed a season-long loan move to Rangers, many Spurs fans expected the 18-year-old to absolutely dominate at the Ibrox this season, given the glimpses of class he had shown in a Spurs shirt last season.

However, the teenager has not had the easiest of starts to life in Scotland, struggling to get into Russel Martin’s eleven in the first few weeks of the season.

Some pundits have also expressed concern that the toxic atmosphere at Rangers is not ideal for Moore, given the fan unrest and the calls for the manager to be sacked, but the youngster now sees light at the end of the tunnel.

Tottenham’s Mikey Moore gets rave reviews after picking up an assist

The Tottenham academy graduate started for Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals against Hibernian at Ibrox on Saturday.

Moore got 76 minutes under his belt and set up the home side’s second goal as the Gers emerged 2-0 winners to seal their passage in the final four.

Glasgow World’s ratings gave the Tottenham man a match rating of seven out of 10 and wrote about his performance: “A reprieve after last week’s half-time subbing. Got a bit of a tough time off the Hibs left-hand-side but showed his quality with run for the second goal and then showed flashes of quality. A constant livewire.”

Europa League campaign kicks off in disappointing fashion for Moore

The Spurs youngster would have been hoping to play Champions League football, but Moore will now have to settle for Europa League football this season after the Scottish side crashed out in the qualifying round.

The Europa League is the competition where the teenager made a name for himself at Spurs last season, but the winger and Rangers made a poor start to the tournament.

The Scottish side fell to a 1-0 loss away at Genk in their first game of the league phase, with Moore hooked at half-time by Martin.

Tottenham fans will receive another big takeover news update before October 24 - Spurs Web
Description

Amidst reports of a rumoured £4.5 billion takeover bid of Tottenham, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed how the North London club have responded to the latest interest.

The Sun reported on Thursday evening that a consortium, spearheaded by Brooklyn Earick, had made a world-record proposal to buy Tottenham.

They had allegedly made an offer of £3.3billion to buy Spurs and were willing to invest another £1.2billion to strengthen the playing squad, thus bringing the total outlay to £4.5billion.

However, it has subsequently been confirmed that Tottenham have not received any official takeover offer, as any bid has to be made public as per the UK Takeover Code.

Tottenham respond to interest from American consortium

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now taken to social media to reveal that while the consortium headed by Brooklyn Earick has not made an official offer, they have signalled an interest in bidding for the club.

However, he explained that their informal interest has been “unequivocally rejected” by ENIC, who reiterated that the club is not for sale.

Jacobs adds that the consortium is required to either announce a firm intention to make an offer or that they do not intend to bid before 5 pm on October 24, as per the UK Takeover Code.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist wrote: ‘Tottenham have “unequivocally rejected” an informal expression of interest from a consortium led by Brooklyn Earick.

‘The Board of the Club and ENIC reconfirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC is not looking to sell its stake in the Club.”

‘Earick’s consortium is required, by no later than 1700 on 24 October, to either announce a firm intention to make an offer or announce that it does not intend to do so.’

Brooklyn Earick has responded to reports of a £4.5billion offer

This morning, Earick reacted very interestingly to reports of his rumoured £4.5billion takeover attempt of Tottenham.

The tech entrepreneur’s social media post suggested that he was surprised by the claim made in The Sun’s report.

However, now that Jacobs has confirmed that the consortium he heads has signalled an interest, it would appear that Earick may have expressed surprise at the figure reported rather than claims of his interest in buying Spurs.

Description

Gabby Agbonlahor is very confident he knows what will happen when Wolves visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

Results have been harder to predict than ever before this Premier League season, with all sides showing that they are capable of beating each other on their day.

However, there is one exception: Wolves, who are yet to register a single point from their first five matches of the season.

According to Opta, Tottenham are massive favourites to get three points on Saturday, and one pundit believes that it will be a demolition job by Thomas Frank’s men.

Gabby Agbonlahor expects things to get ugly for Wolves against Tottenham

Agbonlahor has said that he has seen nothing from the Midlands side to suggest that they are capable of getting anything from their trip to North London.

In fact, he predicted that Spurs will get their biggest win of the season so far, backing them to put five past Vítor Pereira’s men.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked to predict the result of the game, Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT Breakfast: “They are not right at the moment, Wolves. They aren’t right. They have zero points and a minus-nine goal difference.

“Conceded twelve goals as well, just not good enough. I am going for a 5-0 for Tottenham Hotspur. I feel Wolves’ confidence is at its lowest, with players hiding from the ball. Comfortable home win for Spurs.”

Why Tottenham cannot afford to take Wolves lightly

Over the years, Spurs fans have been used to seeing their side slip up in the most unexpected of hurdles.

The phrase ‘Dr. Tottenham will see you now’ will undoubtedly be running through the minds of many when they look at Wolves’ pathetic record so far this season.
