How Thomas Frank could makes Mathys Tel his next prolific winger at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Mathys Tel has made a permanent switch from Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur and Thomas Frank has made clear his intentions for the forward.

The former Bayern Munich man is the latest addition to the Tottenham first-team squad, as Spurs made Tel’s move permanent, despite an underwhelming loan spell.

The France U21 international has so far only registered three goals and two assists for Tottenham. However, he has only made 20 appearances, and not all of those were starts.

With a new manager in place and a fresh start, the pieces are being placed together to help Tel thrive next season.

Thomas Frank reveals his plans for Mathys Tel at Tottenham

Thomas Frank has already addressed Tel’s move to Spurs and he has set his sights on getting the most out of the winger, who could also play up front.

He said: “Very, very excited about Mathys Tel signing with a permanent deal. I think he’s a very talented player that can play across the front four positions.

“He’s a goalscorer that we can develop even further to be more consistent in his all-round game but also to more consistently land in the right positions in the box. So I’m looking forward to it.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is thought that Frank will help improve Tel, because he will be given more freedom than he experienced under Ange Postecoglou. Tel will be allowed to use his energy to cut inside from the wing, or operate in a front two.

How Frank used his wingers at Brentford

Getting the ball to the wingers in space was a key part of Frank’s strategy at Brentford. It was important for his wide men to arrive in the final third with pace and athleticism, something well suited to Mathys Tel’s game.

Offering a goal-scoring threat was an additional aspect of Frank’s winger. Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade played on the flanks last season and scored a combined total of 31 Premier League goals.

Tel’s record in front of goal is nothing special. However, as a player capable of playing as a winger or a striker, becoming more of a threat could be worked into his game once he gets a more consistent run of starts.

The fact that Frank has already outlined what he wants to do to help Tel improve is a huge positive. He has already shown how good he is at getting the best out of his attacking players in his previous role and hopefully, this will continue during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Chris Waddle says England star is a better fit for Tottenham than Newcastle - Spurs Web
Description

With Newcastle also in the conversation to sign Eberechi Eze, ex-Tottenham winger Chris Waddle has made his thoughts very clear on where the Crystal Palace man would fit best.

Once again, in yet another transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be ‘monitoring’ Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

The Palace man, who has two years left on his current deal at Selhurst Park, is said to have a £68 million release clause that is set to become active in this summer’s window.

With the likelihood of Eze leaving the South Coast on a free in 2027, should he not extend his contract with Palace or seal a big move this summer, this transfer window is a crucial one for all parties involved.

Chris Waddle believes Eberechi Eze suits Tottenham more than Newcastle

Spurs fans have begged Daniel Levy to get the Eze deal done, after it emerged that Tottenham could pay Eze’s release clause in instalments over three years.

It has also been claimed that Tottenham are not the only side monitoring the 26-year-old, as other clubs remain interested.

Chris Waddle, a former Tottenham man speaking to OLBG, has now labelled Eze a top player and a better fit for Spurs rather than Newcastle.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to the former England international, Eze is in the top three of technical players in the Premier League, and he is one who could light up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under Thomas Frank.

He said: “Eberechi Eze is a top player. I remember watching him at QPR. He had a lot of talent then, but did not seem to be able to put the consistency with it. I think with Crystal Palace, he has found his place.

“In his number 10 role, he has got the position he wants. He has got the freedom to express himself. He has got the responsibility, which he has taken on board.

“You have got to say he is one of the best footballers in the Premier League at the minute. Technically in the top three and he is playing the top of his game.

“I could see him playing at Spurs. I think Spurs could fit him there. I think Newcastle already have their midfield three and three good wingers, I think Newcastle’s priority probably will be a number nine back-up to Alexander Isak, rather than Eze.

“I think Eze is a great player and I would love to see him at Spurs under Thomas Frank. I think Spurs missed out on Matheus Cunha, who would have been a fantastic signing, but Eze can come in and take responsibility and stamp authority on the club.

“He will go in with a lot of confidence and be a hit, I think he would be a better fit at Spurs than he would at Newcastle.”

Eberechi Eze open to Spurs move as Thomas Frank eyes marquee signing

It has since been revealed that Eze is open to a move to Tottenham this summer, as he is keen to play Champions League football.

It is also claimed that the Palace man is looking to spearhead the Thomas Frank rebuild at Spurs, which, of course, serves as a boost to Tottenham, who are reported to be eyeing a marquee signing.

Spurs are set to miss out on Bryan Mbeumo, and neither are Tottenham eager to meet Bournemouth’s valuation of Antoine Semenyo.

Nick Kyrgios threatens to swap Tottenham for Arsenal after Ange Postecoglou sack

Nick Kyrgios threatens to swap Tottenham for Arsenal after Ange Postecoglou sack - Spurs Web
Description

Nick Kyrgios has never been one to shy away from controversy, but his reaction to Tottenham’s decision to part ways with Ange Postecoglou will truly ruffle feathers among Spurs fans.

Of course, many Tottenham Hotspur fans are delighted about the club’s recent success in the past season under Ange Postecoglou, where they won the Europa League and ended a long 17-year trophy drought.

While the Australian did struggle domestically, leading Spurs to their worst ever Premier League finish in history, Ange Postecoglou still managed to etch his name into Tottenham folklore following that historic night in Bilbao, Spain.

Spurs’ new head coach, Thomas Frank, even regards Postecoglou as a Spurs legend, and so do several other Tottenham fans who do not believe that Ange should have been sacked.

Nick Kyrgios slams Tottenham sacking Ange Postecoglou

Nick Kyrgios, a tennis star who is no stranger to controversy, has now opened up on what he thinks of Tottenham’s decision to sack Postecoglou.

The former Wimbledon finalist is an Australian of Greek origin, just like Ange Postecoglou, and claims to be a fan of Tottenham.

However, it appears that Kyrgios is ready to wash his hands of Spurs, following the club’s decision to sack the Europa League-winning manager a few weeks ago, on 6 June.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The tennis player has now opened up on where his future footballing attention lies, stating that he will now show his support to Tottenham’s bitter rivals, Arsenal.

He said speaking on TalkSPORT: “Half the reason why I do like Tottenham is because of Ange so I am not sure… I think I might have to jump on the Arsenal bandwagon.

“I played a lot of FIFA (video game) in the past so I am not sure my supporting cast to Tottenham ever meant much. Yeah, I will jump on the Arsenal bandwagon.”

Kyrgios’ switch mirrors infamous Spurs betrayal

It is not unheard of for a former COYS to make a switch from Tottenham to Arsenal, with Sol Campbell being one of the most popular examples in recent years.

Since the defender made the switch from the white side of North London to the red side, fans of the Lilywhites never forgave him, as he remains public enemy number one, with unflattering chants about the defender continuing to ring around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium regularly.

Indeed, making such a switch to the enemy is something that is not taken lightly by Tottenham supporters, and with Kyrgios being vocal about his switch, he has now committed one of the cardinal sins of football, one that would make him unpopular in N17.

Why Atalanta’s Champions League run shows Tottenham what is possible

Why Atalanta’s Champions League run shows Tottenham what is possible - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans now have a reason to dream again, as their Europa League triumph has booked them a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League, but what does history say about their chances in this new and unfamiliar format?

Tottenham Hotspur are set to feature in this season’s UEFA Champions League thanks to their historic night in Bilbao, Spain, when they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final.

A lot has been said about whether or not the winners of the Europa League deserve a spot in the Champions League, with Arsene Wenger firmly against the notion, with the former Arsenal manager stating that the winners of the Europa League should not be given a UCL spot.

However, Tottenham would not be losing sleep over such a take, as they are now back amongst the big boys following their recent triumph, and will feature in the Champions League for the first time since the 2022/23 season.

But what can Tottenham fans expect from their side come this next season? We will be analysing how last season’s Europa League winners got along in the new format of the Champions League.

Atalanta’s Champions League run shows Tottenham what is possible

During the 23/24 campaign, the Europa League winners were Atalanta, who beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final to win the competition.

However, it is important to note that the Italian side would have still earned a spot in the UEFA Champions League even if they had lost, as they finished fourth in Serie A.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Following their historic win, Atalanta went into last season’s UEFA Champions League group phase as champions of Europe.

Interestingly, the Italian side managed to fare better than many expected, finishing in ninth place in the league table, narrowly missing out on automatic qualification to the knockout stage.

In the group phase, the then Europa League winners played sides like Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona. They drew two of those games, with their only defeat coming at the hands of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, they still had relatively winnable matches on paper, as they faced the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk, Celtic, Stuttgart, Young Boys and Sturm Graz – fixtures they ultimately won, barring a 0-0 draw against Celtic.

Atalanta did make it to the round of 16 playoffs, but their European journey ended following a defeat to Club Brugge, who finished 24th in the League phase.

Spurs face a different reality compared to Atalanta

Given how well Atalanta performed in the league phase, Tottenham Hotspur fans have every right to be optimistic as they go into the UEFA Champions League in this new format for the first time.

Of course, last season’s Europa League had the same format, which means Tottenham have some experience on how to navigate this new format.

Still, in comparison to Atalanta, who managed a top-four finish in Italy the same season they won the Europa League, Spurs fans might not be overly confident as their team comes into the UCL off the back of a disastrous Premier League campaign that saw them finish in 17th place.

It is no news that an injury crisis played a big role in the Lilywhites’ slump in the league last term, and if they are to compete at the highest level this season, they would need their best players available for both UEFA Champions League and Premier League matches.

The summer window is currently open, which means Thomas Frank can now strengthen his squad. However, Tottenham have not added any new players to their ranks, having only completed the permanent signings of their previous loan players.

If Spurs are to go into next season’s UEFA Champions League with this current squad, it would be difficult to see how they manage both domestic and continental commitments, and a finish worse than that of Atalanta or similar to the Serie A side could very much be expected.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Kota Takai, and a journalist has now revealed something very interesting about what the Japanese international did in April that will get Spurs fans very excited.

According to reports over the last two days, Spurs have reached a £5m agreement to sign Kota Takai from J League side Kawasaki Frontale, with the confirmation expected from the North London clubs once he completes a medical.

Despite being just 20 years of age, the centre-back has already had two seasons in the J League and has been capped four times by Japan, including in World Cup qualifiers.

It has been revealed that Tottenham’s technical director Johan Lange was the man who identified Takai as a potential target, with the Dane said to be impressed by the youngster’s comfort on either side of central defence.

Takai delivered a masterclass against Cristiano Ronaldo

The defender is making a huge step up this summer, with players rarely tending to make a straight jump from Japanese football to the Premier League.

Some Spurs fans might be sceptical about Takai’s ability to perform at the highest level, but the young defender has already proven his class against world-class attackers in the AFC Champions League.

Japanese football expert Alan Gibson has revealed that the centre-back kept Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Jhon Duran quiet when Kawasaki Frontale produced a shock 3-2 away win against Al Nassr back in April.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Gibson told talkSPORT: “Some of the highlights you might have seen him in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League when he played against Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Jhon Duran, and basically he had them in his pocket the whole game. I didn’t realise Ronaldo was playing for about 60 minutes.”

Tottenham beat several European clubs to Kota Takai’s signature

It has been reported that Takai rejected Udinese, Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim in favour of a move to Spurs as the 20-year-old was keen to play in the Premier League.

TBR Football have now revealed that several other European giants, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, have all watched the Japanese defender over recent months.

That suggests that Tottenham have got their hands on an extremely talented youngster, and the club will be hoping that he has a similar impact at N17 to the one Lucas Bergvall had last season.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to monitor the situation of Randal Kolo Muani after missing out on the Paris Saint-Germain forward in January, but the North London club’s hopes of signing the Frenchman hinge on one big factor.

According to reports, Spurs tried until the very last moment to convince Muani to come to N17 in January, but the forward decided to make a loan move to Juventus instead.

The 26-year-old impressed during his time in Turin, finding the back of the net eight times in 16 Serie A appearances.

Some outlets previously claimed that Spurs are ready to pounce on Kolo Muani this summer if Juventus do not sign him permanently, but the North London club have one major stumbling block in getting the deal done.

Randal Kolo Muani’s preference comes to light as Tottenham circle

TBR Football have now confirmed that Spurs retain an interest in the PSG star after missing out on his services in January.

The outlet reveals that London rivals Chelsea have also made an approach to sign Kolo Muani as they look to bolster their forward line this summer.

However, it is revealed that both London sides face an uphill battle in convincing the French international to move to the Premier League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is because Kolo Muani, who is currently at the Club World Cup with Juventus, has made it clear that he prefers to remain in Turin rather than move to England.

Tottenham still have Kolo Muani transfer hope

However, TBR Football state that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea may still have a chance of landing the versatile forward as his move to the Allianz Stadium is far from a done deal.

This is because the Bianconeri only want to extend the striker’s loan spell while the Parisians are insisting on a permanent sale.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now learned how much they have to pay to land a Colombian star, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over recent months.

The Club World Cup is proving to be a great platform for players from South America, Asia and Africa to catch the eye of European clubs.

One man who has just done that is Richard Rios, who has seemingly piqued the interest of several sides with his showing for Palmeiras.

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the midfielder is not new, with Spurs reportedly having an offer turned down for Rios in January.

Last week, GiveMeSport claimed that Tottenham could go back in for Rios this summer, but the outlet explained that several other European clubs also have their eye on the 25-year-old.

Tottenham find out how much Richard Rios would cost

AS have now become the latest outlet to credit Tottenham Hotspur with an interest in Richard Rios.

The report says that the Lilywhites have been left impressed by the Colombian international’s dominant performances at the Club World Cup, but they face competition from two Premier League rivals.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have also been watching Rios in the ongoing tournament and they could challenge Thomas Frank’s men for the technically gifted defensive midfielder.

It is revealed that while Palmeiras want to hang onto their star man, they would let him go if they receive an offer of €25m (£21.3m).

Spurs are not the only club monitoring Rios

Tottenham may have even more competition to contend with for the Colombian, going by the reports over recent weeks.

It was claimed earlier this month that Man United and Porto may challenge Spurs in the race for Rios’ signature.

The same report asserted that Tottenham are considering ‘upping the ante’ in their pursuit of the midfielder, with the North Londoners allegedly impressed by his technical brilliance and his ability to read the game.

Tottenham come up with new plan to sign Eberechi Eze but there is one problem - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a new strategy to prise Eberechi Eze away from Crystal Palace, but the Lilywhites are expected to face a couple of significant roadblocks in their pursuit of the Eagles star.

It emerged earlier this week that Spurs are ready to push forward with a deal for Eze, with the North Londoners wanting to make the 26-year-old a statement signing at the start of the Thomas Frank era.

A lot of Spurs fans have understandably got excited about the possible arrival of Eze, but over the last 24 hours, multiple reports have suggested that a move to Tottenham Hotspur for the England international is far from inevitable.

This includes a recent update by Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg who explained that Tottenham are not close to activating Eze’s £60m release clause and are also keeping an eye on other options.

Tottenham could propose a part-exchange offer for Eberechi Eze

A new report from TEAMtalk has now claimed that Spurs have come up with an alternative strategy to get their hands on the versatile attacker.

The outlet says that Tottenham are ready to propose a player-plus-cash deal for Eze, but the Lilywhites face a couple of roadblocks in getting the deal done.

The first is Palace’s intention to retain the England star, with the Eagles currently in talks with the player over a new deal at Selhurst Park.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The other is the competition Tottenham are facing, with Manchester United, Newcastle United, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Bayern Munich also showing an interest in Eze.

Could Eze’s transfer desire work in Spurs’ favour?

The one silver lining for Spurs fans is that it has been widely reported over recent days that Eze is in favour of a move to Tottenham, with the Palace star thought to be keen on playing Champions League football.

It has also been reported that Spurs have a good relationship with the agency that represents Eze, CAA Base, whose clients include Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Pape Sarr.

Description

A new report has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are not as nailed on to press ahead with a move for Eberechi Eze as some sources suggest, with the Lilywhites having prioritised pursuing two Premier League attackers ahead of the Crystal Palace man.

Following reports that Palace are ready to accept Eze’s £60m release clause in several instalments, many Tottenham supporters are desperate to see Spurs complete a deal for the Eagles star.

It has been claimed by some sources over the last 24 hours that Spurs want to deliver Eze as a statement signing at the start of the Thomas Frank era.

According to some outlets, Eze has indicated a willingness to swap Palace for Tottenham this summer, with the England international keen to play Champions League football.

Tottenham have not done much work on a deal for Eberechi Eze

However, Sky Sports have now played down Spurs’ interest in Eze, by revealing that neither Tottenham nor any other club have held advanced talks over the 26-year-old.

They explain that several other Champions League sides have also expressed an interest in the Palace star this summer, including Man City, Newcastle and a few clubs from abroad.

In fact, it is revealed that Tottenham have actually done more work on deals for Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo than they have on their pursuit of the England star.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What is the latest on Spurs pursuits of Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semeyno?

If reports over the last few days are to be believed, Man United are now in the driving seat to beat Tottenham to Mbeumo’s signature, with the Brentford star keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, it was claimed by The Athletic last week that Spurs may pull out of the race for Semenyo as they have been put off by Bournemouth’s £65m price tag.

It is thus unclear as of now which of these three attackers Tottenham are prioritising and whether any of them will end up at N17 this summer.

Tottenham refuse to admit defeat after Arsenal bid for Christian Norgaard - Spurs Web
Description

Just hours after Arsenal became the first club to press ahead with a move for Christian Norgaard this summer, Thomas Frank has now given Tottenham a clear instruction about the Brentford midfielder.

According to reports over the last few days, Tottenham and Arsenal both hold an interest in Christian Norgaard, with the Gunners thought to be eyeing the 31-year-old as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey.

Spurs would be hoping that the player’s relationship with Frank would give them an advantage over their North London rivals in their pursuit of the experienced midfielder.

However, it emerged earlier today that Arsenal have stolen a march on Tottenham by launching a €11m (£9.3m) offer for Norgaard, with the Denmark international thought to be keen on a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Thomas Frank has told Daniel Levy to bring Christian Norgaard to Tottenham

However, if TBR Football’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs are not prepared to admit defeat in their pursuit of the Brentford star just yet.

The outlet claims that Frank has informed Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy that he wants Norgaard at Spurs ahead of his first season at N17.

It is explained that the Bees captain has been on Spurs’ radar in the past, and with Yves Bissouma potentially on the way out of the club, he is seen as someone who can offer something different to the Lilywhites.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report adds that Frank sees Norgaard as an ideal short-to-medium-term option for Tottenham, who are now ready to make their move for the experienced midfielder.

Spurs’ pursuit of Norgaard is expected to be tricky

TBR Football reference Arsenal’s interest in the Bees star and also reveal that Everton and Roma are also keeping tabs on the player’s situation.

It is pointed out that Norgaard only signed a new contract with Brentford in March, with the deal running until 2027, and that could make it tricky for Tottenham Hotspur and others to get him out of the Gtech Community Stadium.
