Tottenham’s next manager could arrive with two familiar faces, as Thomas Frank eyes a north London rebuild featuring key Brentford players.

Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to sealing the deal on their 16th manager in the last 24 years, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.

Talks continue to take place between Spurs and their preferred managerial option, Thomas Frank, with reports stating that talks between Frank and Tottenham are almost finalised.

Spurs fans could expect an announcement on a new manager sometime this week, as Tottenham Hotspur edge closer to landing Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

Thomas Frank wants Bryan Mbeumo and Nathan Collins at Tottenham

Indeed, should Frank be appointed the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, he is expected to get to work right off the bat, as Spurs look to begin preparations for the 2025/26 season.

A pre-season tour to Asia has already been announced, with friendlies against Arsenal in Hong Kong, Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena, and a UEFA Super Cup final expected to be a few of the fixtures on the horizon for the Dane.

He is also expected to be busy with transfers, and now a new report from the Hounslow Herald has stated that Thomas Frank’s £10 million release clause is expected to be met by Spurs, and that the 51-year-old also wants to bring Bryan Mbeumo and Nathan Collins with him to north London.

Spurs could benefit from signing Bryan Mbeumo and Nathan Collins

Of course, the acquisition of those two players would be a smart piece of business for Tottenham, who need to bolster both their attack and defence ahead of next season.

Mbeumo, for one, just grabbed 20 league goals last season from 38 matches, with the highest return from a Tottenham player being 11 goals from Brennan Johnson.

Adding Mbeumo to their attack would bring a serious injection of quality, and so would bringing in a defender, especially as Tottenham could also lose Cristian Romero, whose future remains uncertain.

Huge revelation emerges about Daniel Levy and Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Daniel Levy made the unpopular call to sack Ange Postecoglou last week, but it turns out the Tottenham chairman may never have even hired him in the first place.

A lot has been said about Ange Postecoglou’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur, with questions being asked about whether Daniel Levy was right to sack the very manager who helped end Spurs’ long trophy drought.

A few Tottenham fans have voiced their dissatisfaction with the decision to sack Ange Postecoglou. It has also been claimed that Spurs first-team players were left furious with Postecoglou’s exit and some are considering leaving this summer.

Ben Davies has since come out to reveal what it has been like in the Tottenham camp, stating the news came as a shock to the players who found out through the media.

Daniel Levy didn’t want Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Journalist Paul O’Keefe has also now revealed that the appointment of Ange Postecoglou was not one that Daniel Levy was keen on, and that he needed some convincing before going ahead with signing the Australian manager.

Scott Munn, who could be leaving Spurs this summer, is reported to be the one who was truly eager to bring his fellow countryman to N17, with Levy reportedly told to stay out of the footballing decisions.

O’Keefe told Last Word on Spurs (12:29): “Levy did not want Ange as manager. He was not his pick, it was Scott Munn’s pick.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“He had reservations about putting Ange Postecoglou in charge of Tottenham, and he felt that he had to back his new guy and his new regime, because they had obviously built this new infrastructure, and there is no point doing that if you are then going to keep interfering.

“He kept being told ‘you have got to stop interfering with footballing decisions’. He was not keen, and he had to be convinced; obviously, they did the deal eventually.

“I think he is probably sitting somewhere saying to himself, ‘I knew I was right all along’ but, at the end of the day, they still got a trophy and he has ended ENIC’s trophy drought for them. He has a reason to be thankful and just out of sheer courtesy, he should have said something within the club announcement.”

Spurs pushing ahead with Thomas Frank as new manager

With Postecoglou now sacked, Levy is focused on making his 16th managerial appointment as chairman of Spurs.

It has been reported that Thomas Frank is Tottenham’s preferred choice, with talks said to be progressing well, as Spurs look to complete a deal soon.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have taken a major step towards finalising their managerial appointment, with Brentford boss Thomas Frank now close to taking the reins in north London.

Over the past few hours, reports have surfaced suggesting that talks between Tottenham Hotspur and Thomas Frank are advancing rapidly, but one more step was needed before a deal could be sealed.

In fact, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Spurs are close to finalising terms with the Brentford manager, stating that negotiations between both parties are now in their final stages.

An announcement on the completion of the deal was reportedly set to arrive this week, with claims that Tottenham had set a deadline for concluding their managerial search.

A fresh update, this time from David Ornstein of The Athletic, has now confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Brentford, as the appointment of Thomas Frank nears completion.

The journalist also revealed that Spurs hope to agree a deal within the next 48 hours, with terms already in place with the 51-year-old Dane.

It is understood that Tottenham enjoy a healthy relationship with Brentford, and discussions are ongoing over Frank’s £10m release clause, with other members of his backroom staff expected to follow him to north London.

Spurs transfers may wait as Frank targets Brentford stars

The transfer window is set to close briefly on 10 June before reopening on 16 June, meaning that any immediate transfer activity from the Lilywhites may be temporarily paused.

However, several reports have indicated that Thomas Frank is eager to reunite with some of his current Brentford players, with suggestions that he would like Tottenham to bring Bryan Mbeumo with him to Hotspur Way.

It has certainly been a hectic few weeks for the Lilywhites, who have been busy implementing changes behind the scenes, but with a new manager expected through the door within 48 hours, the focus should soon return to matters on the pitch as the club’s rebuild continues.

Tottenham receive interest in Ben Davies transfer despite contract extension - Spurs Web
Description

Wrexham are plotting a surprise swoop for Ben Davies, just days after Tottenham exercised a one-year extension to keep the Welsh defender at the club until 2026.

Despite being without a manager in the last three days following the departure of former manager Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham still went ahead with a decision regarding one of their longest-serving players.

It was reported yesterday that Tottenham have triggered the one-year extension clause in Ben Davies’ contract, meaning the 32-year-old will remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for at least another season, despite interest from the Championship and Premier League.

Davies, who has been at the club for over a decade, looked set to become a free agent at the end of June, but with this extension now activated, the Wales international is no longer available for free.

Wrexham still want Ben Davies despite new Tottenham contract

Among the clubs interested in Ben Davies is Championship side Wrexham, who are reportedly eager to bring in the experienced defender as they aim to mount a charge towards the Premier League.

According to The Daily Mail, Wrexham still want to sign the 32-year-old despite Tottenham’s decision to extend his contract by another 12 months over the weekend.

However, Tottenham would be prepared to allow Davies to leave this summer, but only if they manage to secure a deal for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is understood that the North London club are expected to formalise their interest in the 22-year-old Everton defender next week.

Spurs defensive plans may dictate Ben Davies’ future

Now that Ben Davies is tied down for another year, Wrexham would need to pay a fee to secure his signature, albeit a modest one.

Tottenham still need to reinforce their backline ahead of the new campaign, having conceded 65 goals in 38 Premier League matches last season and ending the campaign with a negative goal difference.

Description

The news of Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal as Tottenham Hotspur has been reverberating around the playing squad over the past few days.

Following Tottenham’s decision to sack Ange Postecoglou on Friday, which came on the second anniversary of his appointment of head coach, there has been plenty of debate over whether or not it was the right decision.

Tottenham explained why they sacked Postecoglou within a statement on the club’s official site which highlighted the Premier League form as the catalyst for change.

The dismissal of the Australian is said to have left many upset, with some Spurs players having threatened to leave the club such was their dismay at the board’s decision.

Some Tottenham fans have been divided over Postecoglou’s exit, while some believe the Europa League win warranted him a stay, others believed that it is impossible to look beyond a seventeenth place finish in the Premier League.

Yves Bissouma shares what Ange Postecoglou said to him on WhatsApp

Many of the Tottenham players have posted messages of thanks to Postecoglou on social media in recent days.

One such player to do so was Yves Bissouma after he posted a classy message in tribute to the 59-year-old’s impact on his Tottenham career.

Bissouma has now gone a step further by sharing on his Snapchat account a screenshot of a WhatsApp message exchange between himself and his former manager.

Postecoglou wrote: “Hi Biss. I’m sorry I missed your call. I am very proud of you. It was an honour to share a dressing room with you and I appreciate how much you believed in what we were trying to achieve. I wish you only the best for the future. I will always be following. Much love from my family to yours.”

Bissouma replied: “Thank you gaffer and thank you really much for everything you did for me on and off the pitch I’ll always be grateful. the way you believed me and trusted me was incredible I gonna miss you but it’s football life a got a lot to said but I think you know what I’m thinking about you already so I just wishing you all the best for the future and may God protect you and you family #bigboss love.”

Postecoglou added: “Always by your side Biss.”

Thomas Frank must now look to reunite the Spurs squad

With Thomas Frank set to take the Tottenham job, he now must quickly look to get the Tottenham first-team squad back on track.

The highs of the Europa League success have been followed by the dismissal of Postecoglou, who many of the squad were very close to. This is Frank’s first job at a very high level with the greatest respect to Brentford and he must now cut his teeth at being able to man-manage top players.

Tottenham Supporters’ Trust deliver mixed message after Ange Postecoglou sacking - Spurs Web
Description

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust have released a statement on the decision to sack Ange Postecoglou and they have one key concern.

Ange Postecoglou became the latest Tottenham manager to be fired, after being shown the door last Friday. Postecoglou is the 15th manager to be sacked in Daniel Levy’s 24 years at Spurs.

He will be remembered fondly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having ended the club’s 17-year wait for silverware with a Europa League victory.

However, he oversaw the club’s worst-ever Premier League campaign, as Spurs finished 17th on 38 points. In the 2010/11 season, Birmingham City and Blackpool both finished on 39 points and were relegated to the Championship.

Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust deliver Ange Postecoglou statement

The THST have posted a statement on their X page which acknowledges the club’s reasons for sacking Postecoglou. However, the fan-led organisation have raised a concern about something which has become a ‘habit’ at Tottenham.

The statement read: “On behalf of our members and Spurs fans everywhere we would like to thank Ange Postecoglou for his passion and commitment during his two years at Spurs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“The vast majority of fans will love Ange forever because of the incredible moments he gave us in the Europa League, culminating with our first trophy in 17 years and first European trophy since 1984.

“The memories of that amazing night in Bilbao and the victory parade will live forever in our hearts. They will become stories we will tell our children and our grandchildren.

“Spurs fans will understandably have different opinions on what comes next. Many would want to see whether Ange could have built on the new confidence he gave us and the players, next season.

“However, the league results have been a long way short of what Spurs fans expect. We travel the length and breadth of the country to watch our team. We come from all over the World to support them. We pay amongst the very highest ticket prices in Europe. Twenty two league defeats in one season is not okay.

“Our concern now is that it appears we will have yet another change of direction and that this is something that is becoming a habit since we said goodbye to Mauricio Pochettino in 2019 .

“We can only hope that the right decision has been made and that the new manager is fully supported by the Board and everyone at the Club to build on the cup success that Ange has laid. He will need the finances to build a strong squad that can challenge simultaneously on many fronts.

“We wish whoever is appointed well. Spurs fans have had a taste of glory and we don’t want to wait another seventeen years for more.”

Some Spurs supporters have slammed the THST

The THST are often criticised for toeing the line and failing to speak out against the Spurs board. The reaction to their statement on Postecoglou is no different, as while they have questioned Tottenham’s constant chopping and changing of managers, they do acknowledge why the board came to their decision.

One supporter said the statement was ‘pathetic’ and ‘utterly shameful,’ while another accused the Trust of being paid by the club. References were also made to Change For Spurs, a growing fan movement which has staged multiple protests demanding that Levy finally listen to the supporters.

Not all fans feel the same way about the decision to show Postecoglou the door, but the responses to the statement suggest plenty of Tottenham fans are very unhappy.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur look set to welcome Fabio Paratici back to the club and he already has an established friendship with the new CEO.

Fabio Paratici first arrived at Tottenham four years ago as their managing director of football and he played a key role in bringing Antonio Conte to the club.

His influence extended to the transfer market, as Spurs signed Juventus players Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, as well as Cristian Romero, who also played for Juventus, before joining Atalanta.

Despite being handed a two-year ban from football for financial malpractice, Paratici continued at Spurs as a consultant.

It was recently reported that Paratici was expected to return to Tottenham. This looked even more likely when he was spotted in Bilbao, attending the Europa League final between Spurs and Manchester United.

Fabio Paratici gets on well with Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham

Tottenham have been busy appointing new figures at the club. Recently, Vinai Venkatesham was named the new CEO.

Some supporters had concerns over his credentials, as he was at Arsenal during the years when they failed to achieve top-four finishes in the Premier League. However, he received praise for his record on fan engagement.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to TBR Football, Venkatesham has developed a good relationship with Paratici, which bodes well for the future.

TBR correspondent Graeme Bailey said: “It’s fair to say that Paratici’s fingerprints are all over anything Tottenham do. He [Levy] trusts him. Vinai [Venkatesham], the new CEO from Arsenal as well, gets on very well with Levy and Paratici. It’s almost like a Holy Trinity operating in the hierarchy now.

“Obviously, Lange is still there, but he’s quite commercial. Paratici is heavily involved in everything Spurs are doing and they love what he’s done before. He’s got brilliant contacts and they trust him.”

Paratici will be welcomed back at Spurs with open arms

Paratici was well-liked during his first spell at Tottenham. Supporters enjoyed sharing photos of him on a phone call, as he was known to often be in conversations to bring new players to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

His signings have been compared with those signed by Lange and the consensus is clear. While Spurs are believed to have flopped in last summer’s transfer market, Paratici was fundamental in signing some top players. Spurs will be all the better off having him back in an official capacity.

Description

Yves Bissouma has paid tribute to former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou and his appreciation for the Australian goes further than football.

Very few Tottenham players will feel they had a good individual season at the club. After all, poor performances are what caused Spurs to finish 17th in the Premier League table.

Some members of the Tottenham first-team squad were even criticised publicly by Postecoglou, including Yves Bissouma. In March, Postecoglou accused Bissouma of letting the game drift by him, while suggesting the midfielder lacked confidence.

However, Bissouma accepted Postecoglou’s criticism and upped his game, which was particularly notable during the latter stages of Tottenham’s Europa League campaign.

Yves Bissouma pays tribute to Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham exit

Bissouma may not have always impressed Postecoglou, but there is no bad blood between the pair. The Malian international has expressed gratitude to his boss of two years for his help both on and off the pitch.

He posted on Instagram: “Gaffer, I even don’t know where and how to start. I got a lot to say about how good you are as a human but I just wanna say thank you for everything from day one to the last one, you did a lot in my life on and off the pitch.

“I’ll never forget the energy you shared with us. Your mindset made us European champions and legends of this wonderful club. Today you leave like a great and it will remain forever engraved in the history of the club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Thank you for everything, boss. And thank you to all the staff for everything you’ve done for me — on and off the pitch. You believed in me, pushed me, and helped me become better every day. I’ll always be grateful.

“Wishing you nothing but success in your next chapter. I’ll always remember the last conversation we had that changed a lot of things. Thanks #BigAnge”

Bissouma may leave Spurs himself soon

Bissouma only has a year remaining on his contract and Jose Mourinho wants Fenerbahce to sign Bissouma from Tottenham. As well as this, there are Premier League teams linked with the holding midfielder.

The arrival of a new manager could either secure or end Bissouma’s future at Hotspur Way, based on whether he fits into their system. It could be that Bissouma soon follows his head coach by moving away from Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be closing in on a new era, with negotiations between the club and Thomas Frank now understood to be at the final stages.

Tottenham Hotspur are now focused on appointing a new manager, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou after just two seasons in north London.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has emerged as Postecoglou’s likely successor, with multiple outlets reporting that the 51-year-old has held several rounds of discussions with chairman Daniel Levy in recent days.

It was revealed yesterday that Frank has informed Brentford of his desire to leave for Spurs, with further reports stating that Brentford are open to negotiating Thomas Frank’s exit, should the terms be right.

Thomas Frank and Tottenham talks reach final stage

Respected football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on Tottenham’s pursuit of Thomas Frank, reporting that discussions have been progressing well over the past few days.

Now, with talks developing rapidly, Romano has provided a fresh update, stating that negotiations between Thomas Frank and Tottenham Hotspur are in the final stages.

Description

Former Arsenal man Perry Groves has shocked fans by admitting that Bryan Mbeumo would be better off joining Tottenham Hotspur over Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to completing the appointment of a new head coach, following the club’s decision to sack Ange Postecoglou after two seasons at Spurs.

Thomas Frank remains favourite to land the Tottenham job, with a deadline for Frank’s announcement said to have been set for this week, as Spurs look to complete the deal as soon as possible.

Tottenham’s transfer activity has been on a standstill, as they have used the last few days, which is the first phase of the transfer window set to close on the tenth, to take care of off-the-pitch matters.

Perry Groves urges Bryan Mbeumo to pick Tottenham over Manchester United

Regardless, Tottenham have still been linked with a fair few players, including Bryan Mbeumo, who is also being monitored by Manchester United.

It was only reported yesterday that Spurs are now looking to rival Man United for the Brentford man, with some reports stating that Thomas Frank has asked Tottenham to sign Mbeumo.

Now, former Arsenal player Perry Groves has weighed in on the Mbeumo transfer saga and Tottenham’s interest in the player, admitting that Bryan Mbeumo should join Spurs over Manchester United.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said speaking on talkSport: “Then you are looking at Manchester United who knows they need a centre forward, it has been reported that they are in for Bryan Mbeumo as well. If Manchester United come in for him and Spurs are in for Mbeumo, where do you think he goes…

“If that comes as a choice, football wise he should go to, it pains me to say it, he should go to Spurs because of Champions League football, and you want to play at the highest level.

“But financially that is why Spurs are going to struggle to get to that, even with Antonio Conte, obviously Postecoglou had a bit of a moan about it, Jose Mourinho that next level, because all the top teams pay their top players 250,000 pound a week but Spurs are never going to do that.”

Spurs wage structure could affect Mbeumo transfer

Indeed, Tottenham’s wage structure continues to be a talking point, as the Lilywhites have a very rigid structure that sees their highest earner, Heung-min Son, take home £200,000 a week.

However, Spurs have reportedly saved £15.6 million after releasing four first-team players, including Timo Werner, Fraser Forster, Alfie Whiteman and Sergio Reguilon.

That should give the Lilywhites wriggling room this summer to bump up the amount they spend on wages, as the very best players would look to earn a lot more.
