Thomas Frank sends fresh message to Tottenham fans about booing during games - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has addressed the comment he made about Tottenham fans after the Fulham defeat, offering a clearer explanation of what he meant.

Tottenham Hotspur’s dismal home record continued on Saturday night, when Spurs fell to a 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Fulham.

That was the Cottagers’ first win away from home, and to the frustration of Spurs fans, it came in north London, where Tottenham were second best for most of the game.

Individual mistakes did not help Spurs’ case, as Guglielmo Vicario gifted Fulham their second goal of the night after failing to boot the ball to row Z when he found himself in no man’s land, miles away from his own penalty box.

The performance on display by Tottenham left Spurs fans frustrated, with many booing Frank’s men during the match, a gesture Frank was not pleased with.

The Dane was quick to label Tottenham supporters who booed during the match as fake, while some Spurs fans hit back on social media, describing Frank as not a real Spurs manager.

The 52-year-old, speaking ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Newcastle United, has now attempted to offer more clarity on what he meant.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Frank introduced his thoughts by stressing that he understands why fans were annoyed and that their frustration is not something he dismisses, before going on to emphasise the atmosphere he expects during games.

He said, as relayed by Football.London: “I completely understand the frustration. If we do not win there will always be a frustration. We have not won much at home this season and also last so the frustration can grow. It is my job to do what we can to have calm.

“We are nothing without the fans. Tottenham Hotspur is nothing without the fans. My point was that during matches we need each other. Afterwards the booing can be fair. During, we need to make it a fortress and to do that we need to be together.”

Asked whether he regrets saying those who booed are not ‘true Tottenham fans’, Frank added: “I don’t know, and you can say, how do you define a true Spurs fan? I think all the fantastic fans we have believe they’re true Spurs fans. Some react in one way, some react in another, some are a little bit in between. No matter what, we need all of them.”

Thomas Frank must focus on what really matters at Spurs

Tottenham supporters will feel they have every right to do what they did, as they are the ones who pay money for pricey tickets.

The football on display under Thomas Frank has been nothing to cheer as Spurs are quite often outplayed in games, and fans cannot just sit and wait for the game to end before voicing their discontent.

The Tottenham boss needs to focus more on his team’s performance, as good displays will naturally get his fans on his side.

He also needs to quit trying to switch attention from what really matters, and that is Spurs’ poor performances in recent weeks.

Description

Thomas Frank has now provided an injury update on the fitness of his Tottenham Hotspur players ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur will not have to wait for too long before they kick a ball again following their dismal display at the weekend against Fulham, where they lost 2-1.

On Tuesday, they return to Premier League action, with a trip to Tyneside, where they take on Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, a side that has already beaten Tottenham this season, 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Thomas Frank cannot afford any more slip-ups as pressure is beginning to mount on him from his own fanbase, who have not been shy to boo him and his players.

Coming into this league fixture, Thomas Frank has been handed a boost, as Cristian Romero has served his suspension and is available for selection once more.

There were no injuries picked up against Fulham, leaving Tottenham’s injury situation pretty much the same heading into the midweek.

Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski and Kota Takai all remain sidelined, although there are claims that these players could return this December.

What Thomas Frank’s poor start at Brentford could tell us about his Tottenham future - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank is the man responsible for taking Brentford to the Premier League, but like his time at Tottenham Hotspur, he did not get off to the best start.

The decision to appoint Frank was one with the ability to go either way. There were fears the Danish coach would be similar to Nuno Espirito Santo based on his track record, but there was also hope he could become a Mauricio Pochettino type figure at the club.

It certainly seemed like Frank would be more like the latter at first. Not necessarily due to his style of play, but rather his ability to bring balance to Tottenham Hotspur and get results in the Premier League.

However, a lot has changed since August and elements of the Spurs fanbase have already called for the removal of Frank after an abysmal run of matches. Despite this, there are some who believe the manager needs more time because history shows that great successes do not always start the way they finish.

Thomas Frank got off to a poor start at Brentford

Can Frank turn things around at Tottenham? Well based on the way he started out as the manager of Brentford, perhaps there is still hope for him yet.

Thomas Frank, who was formerly the assistant manager of Brentford, replaced Dean Smith as the London outfit’s boss. The Bees had suffered only two defeats in 12 Championship matches and sat seventh in the league table, but this soon changed.

Brentford were defeated a staggering eight times in Frank’s opening 10 matches, conceding 20 goals in the process. However, no hasty decision was made to offload the struggling coach and he delivered six wins and four draws in their next 10 matches.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham have also suffered eight defeats under Frank and have displayed problems at both ends of the pitch. Despite this, they have claimed eight victories, which is one more than Frank achieved in his opening 20 matches at Brentford. Of course, it is worth noting that he has now managed 21 games at Spurs if the UEFA Super Cup is counted.

Frank’s Brentford beginnings do not mirror his Tottenham results

Although Thomas Frank’s percentage of victories and defeats during his first 20 matches at Brentford and Spurs were very similar, the pattern of results are not the same.

Interestingly, all of Brentford’s opening seven losses under Frank were by a one-goal margin, which indicates that he had a clear plan which was not quite working. However, he eventually found a way to make his team tick, resulting in success further down the line.

In contrast, Frank made a largely positive start at Tottenham, yet has recently experienced a string of defeats, including a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal. While at Brentford it seemed he had a plan which took time to come to fruition, Frank looks lost at Spurs as he frantically deploys different systems, of which none seem to be working.

Perhaps Frank needs more time to show that he can get Tottenham back to winning ways, or maybe the role is simply beyond his capabilities.

Jamie O’Hara is at the end of his patience with one Tottenham star, ‘my head is gonna go’ - Spurs Web
Description

Jamie O’Hara has reacted angrily to what one Tottenham star did when he came off the bench against Fulham on Saturday.

The relationship between the Tottenham squad and the fan base is worsening, which is reportedly a big worry internally at Hotspur Way.

Some Spurs players have borne the brunt of the criticism since Tottenham’s defeat to Fulham on Saturday, not least Pedro Porro, who was angry at Lucas Bergvall for applauding the fans after the final whistle.

However, it was one moment that happened during the second half that drew the ire of one pundit.

Jamie O’Hara is angered by what Tottenham star Xavi Simons did

For the third game in a row, Xavi Simons was left out of the starting eleven by Frank, and he came into the game in the second half with the Lilywhites chasing the contest.

Although Tottenham improved in the second period after their turgid showing in the first-half, Xavi struggled to make much of an impact on the game.

O’Hara was particularly enraged at the fact that the Dutchman was trying fancy flicks, admitting that he could not see anymore of that without losing his head.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The former Spurs midfielder wrote on social media: “If Xavi Simmons tries one more flick, my head’s gonna absolutely go.”

When asked why the 22-year-old has not started of late, Frank hinted that other attackers suit his game plan better than Xavi for specific matches.

While that was understandable against Arsenal and PSG, when Tottenham were not expected to have much of the ball, it would be concerning for the player that he also did not start the Fulham game.

If the attacking midfielder is not trusted for a home game against a mid-table side at a time when Spurs are struggling to break down teams, he must wonder if Frank does not rate him that highly.

Supercomputer predicts where Tottenham will finish in Premier League after Fulham loss - Spurs Web
Description

Opta’s Supercomputer’s Premier League prediction table makes for extremely grim reading for Tottenham fans after the club’s latest home loss.

Spurs Web has been tracking Opta’s prediction after every league result, and over the last few weeks, it has unsurprisingly been all downhill from a Tottenham Hotspur perspective.

Thomas Frank’s men lost at home for the fourth time in six Premier League matches this season when Fulham left with a 2-1 win from N17.

The result means that the Lilywhites now have the second-worst home record in the division, only ahead of Wolves, who already appear destined to finish bottom of the table.

Opta predicts where Tottenham will finish this season

Opta’s Algorithm predicts that after this weekend’s results, Tottenham will finish in 12th place in the Premier League table, with an expected points tally of 51.2.

Even more worryingly, the supercomputer hands Thomas Frank’s men just a 3.26 per cent chance of qualifying for the Champions League and a 6.41 per cent chance of finishing within the Europa League spaces.

That would make for extremely worrying reading for Spurs fans, but truth be told, it is difficult to argue with those predictions, given the standard of football we have seen from the Lilywhites this campaign, especially at home.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What is the minimum Frank needs to achieve this season?

For all the talk of Tottenham finishing 17th last season, most people will concede that there was a specific set of circumstances that led to that.

That excuse will certainly not be accepted by Spurs fans if the team continues to linger in the bottom half of the table.

Tottenham predicted XI for Premier League clash against Newcastle, four changes - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are searching for the right balance again as Thomas Frank weighs up key decisions for a difficult trip to St James’ Park, and we have attempted to predict Frank’s starting XI against Newcastle.

Tottenham Hotspur have slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table for the first time under Thomas Frank, following a winless November that has left supporters frustrated with the direction of performances.

Their next test is a demanding one, as Frank takes his team to St James’ Park to face a Newcastle United side beginning to find their rhythm again in the league.

Newcastle have won their last two league matches and are now level on points with Tottenham, sitting just one place below the north London side in 12th position.

Frank will be desperate for a response on Tuesday night, and with that in mind, we have attempted to predict the Dane’s starting XI.

Predicted Tottenham XI to face Newcastle in the Premier League

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: It was a disappointing performance by Vicario, who was at fault for Fulham’s second goal on Saturday, but we still expect him to keep his place in Frank’s starting XI.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: Porro’s weekend display did little to inspire confidence, as he struggled both defensively and in attacking phases. Despite that, we do not expect Frank to take him out of the squad.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Tottenham captain has served his one-game ban following five bookings in the opening 12 games and should return to the starting XI.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: The Dutchman was one of the better performers against Fulham, and if he can replicate that level, while others around him raise their game, Tottenham could give themselves a better chance of keeping Newcastle quiet.

Left-back – Djed Spence: The full-back was handed a rest at the weekend with Destiny Udogie starting ahead of him, but on Tuesday, he could return to the starting XI.

Pivot midfielder – Joao Palhinha: The 30-year-old started against Fulham but produced one of his weaker performances in a Tottenham shirt. Even so, Frank could still use his robustness in midfield.

Pivot midfielder – Rodrigo Bentancur: The Uruguayan missed out against Fulham as Frank opted for Archie Gray ahead of him. The 19-year-old’s outing was not groundbreaking, and we can see Bentancur returning to the side.

Centre midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: While Bentancur takes the deeper role beside Palhinha, the teenager could be pushed further up the pitch in the ten position.

Right winger – Mohammed Kudus: Kudus grabbed the only goal for Tottenham against Fulham and should take up the right wing spot on Tuesday.

Striker – Randal Kolo Muani: The forward showed fight and spirit against Fulham, even though he did not get on the scoresheet. He should lead the line once more.

Three players Thomas Frank must recall for Tottenham to get a result against Newcastle - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur make the long journey to St James’ Park on Tuesday and changes are required if Thomas Frank’s team wish to avoid another defeat.

Tottenham Hotspur once again find themselves in a crisis, with poor performances on the pitch leading to unrest in the stands.

Spurs have suffered five defeats in their past seven matches, conceding 11 goals in the three most recent of those fixtures.

Next up Thomas Frank and his players will take on Newcastle United away from home, a fixture which has already caused Tottenham a defeat this season.

It has been more than four years since Spurs were victorious at St James’ Park and three changes must be made if they are to have any chance of getting a result on Tuesday.

Cristian Romero will be back from his suspension

The Tottenham centre-backs were not the players at fault for the goals conceded against Fulham. However, there is an argument to be made that either Kevin Danso or Micky van de Ven should have retreated to the goalline when Guglielmo Vicario left his net and conceded possession.

With Cristian Romero returning from his one-match suspension, it makes sense to put him back in the team in place of Danso.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Although the Spurs captain was poor against PSG in his most recent start, he is still the far superior right sided central defender at the club.

Wilson Odobert should replace on of Tottenham’s centre forwards

Frank tried starting both Randal Kolo Muani and Richarlison against Fulham and this strategy failed to bear fruit. The strikers were wasteful, failed to get on the end of balls and Richarlison in particular contributed very little during the match.

Spurs will likely go back to a system which includes a left winger and Wilson Odobert has mostly been the preferred choice to start in recent weeks.

The 21 year old’s attacking stats are not great, but his end product does appear to be improving. He did manage to register his first goal of the season against Copenhagen in the Champions League and then followed this up with an assist against Manchester United.

Xavi Simons must be trusted to deliver for Spurs

It is no secret that Xavi Simons has not been good enough since joining Tottenham. However, repeatedly choosing to bench the midfielder is doing nothing for his confidence.

Despite his disappointing displays, Simons is one of very few players in the Tottenham first-team squad capable of creating a good number of chances.

Spurs did create against Fulham, but the play was very one dimensional, with a heavy emphasis on crosses into the box. Simons has the capacity to offer something different and Frank needs to look beyond the times when the German has fallen short of the mark and put him back in the starting lineup.

Ramon Vega has made a big claim about Tottenham Hotspur’s controversial managerial decision over the summer.

There are now serious calls from Tottenham fans to sack Thomas Frank after the Lilywhites fell to yet another home defeat on Saturday.

Spurs now have the second-worst home record across the Premier League this season, only better than Wolves, who are rooted to the bottom of the table.

Frank’s decision to criticise Tottenham fans for booing Guglielmo Vicario has landed him in even more hot water with the fan base, who are now at the end of their patience with the Dane’s perceived negative approach.

Ramon Vega claims Tottenham should have never sacked Ange Postecoglou

Vega has been very vocal in his criticism of Frank over the past week, and the Swiss defender has made another big declaration following the side’s latest defeat.

He has taken to social media to insist that Tottenham made a mistake by sacking Postecoglou after their Europa League triumph in the summer.

Vega wrote: “Now I have to repeat it! Spurs should never have sacked Ange Postecoglou!”

MORE SPURS STORIES

He also drew a comparison between where Tottenham were after 13 league games last season and where they are now.

Vega accuses Frank of not being true to his words

The former Tottenham defender’s main bone of contention appears to be the 52-year-old’s style of play.

Vega reposted Frank’s previous press conference from the summer, where the Spurs boss spoke about wanting the side to be ‘brave and aggressive’, and questioned why he has not followed through.

The 54-year-old also hinted soon after Tottenham’s loss to Fulham that he expected the club to sack the former Brentford boss.

Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to get back to winning ways following their defeat at yet another London rival, Fulham, at the weekend.

Fixtures are coming thick and fast for Spurs, who are set to return to action three days after their disappointing 2-1 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Pressure is mounting on Thomas Frank, who Spurs fans have described as ‘not a real Spurs manager‘, following the recent slump in form and the manager’s comment on fans booing during the game.

Up next for Tottenham is a familiar foe, Newcastle United, a side in good form and one that has already beaten Spurs this season.

When and where Tottenham vs Newcastle takes place

Tottenham will make a trip to St James Park on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 20:15 (UK time).

Team news for Spurs and Newcastle

Cristian Romero is set to return to action here after having completed his one-game ban following his suspension after picking up five bookings in the opening 12 games.

Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, Kota Takai and Ben Davies are all out, with reports claiming that they could return later this month.

Radu Dragusin, despite having featured in a behind-closed-doors match in November, is not yet available to take part, while James Maddison will not feature until next year, and Yves Bissouma’s return date is unknown.

Newcastle have their own issues to contend with, with Nick Pope unavailable due to a knock. Sven Botman is a doubt as he continues to deal with a back injury, while William Osula is sidelined with an ankle issue.

Emil Krafth is also doubtful with a knee problem, while Kieran Trippier is out with a hamstring injury, and Yoane Wissa is sidelined with a knee injury.

Spurs Web prediction for Tottenham vs Newcastle

Looking at the form of both sides, Newcastle are in a much better place, having secured three wins in their last five outings in the league, including a victory over Manchester City.

Spurs, on the other hand, are with just one win in their last five, with their sole victory coming all the way back in October against Everton, leaving them with a record of no wins in November.

The two sides have met already this season, although it was in the Carabao Cup, and it was Newcastle who came out on top, beating Tottenham 2-0.

We expect a similar outcome here, with the Magpies proving to be a bit too much for Spurs at St James Park.

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a sensational January deal for an extremely talented Premier League midfielder.

Based on reports over recent weeks, it appears that Spurs are looking at various midfielders with Premier League experience ahead of the January window.

Scott McTominay, Ruben Neves and Conor Gallagher have all been mooted as targets for Tottenham, but a new report has now suggested that the Lilywhites may raid a Premier League rival for a 21-year-old.

The player in question has not been at his best since missing out on a summer move to Man United, but that has not deterred Spurs.

Tottenham plotting move for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba

According to CaughtOffside, Spurs are now sensing an opportunity to raid Brighton for Carlos Baleba in January.

The Cameroon international has blossomed into a superb talent since arriving at the Amex Stadium in 2023, but he has not been in the best of form this campaign following his failed move to Old Trafford in the summer.

The report claims that the Seagulls will demand €100m (£87.6m) for their star man, which could make the pursuit complicated for Tottenham Hotspur.
