Djed Spence tipped for England push as length of new Tottenham contract is revealed - Spurs Web
Description

Djed Spence has put pen to paper and signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur and the length of the agreement has now been disclosed.

Tottenham Hotspur have been working to bring new players to the club this summer, but keeping hold of their current stars is important too.

It is therefore positive news that Djed Spence has signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham. This comes after Spence already signed a Spurs contract until 2028 last October.

The 25-year-old has played every minute of Thomas Frank’s opening two competitive matches. The last time he spent an entire match on the bench was in May, when Tottenham defeated Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals. This highlights just how important he has become, despite previously being written off by some at the club.

Djed Spence has committed himself to Tottenham until 2030

According to Tom Barclay, Djed Spence has signed a new contract keeping him at Spurs until 2029. There is an option to extend his stay by another year, which means he could be contracted to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the next five seasons, including the current one.

Barclay has heaped praise on Spence, who has changed his fortunes at Tottenham. Only last summer, it was reported that Tottenham could be willing to sell Spence for as little as £6m. This shows just how impressive his ‘turnaround’ has been.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Barclay posted on X: “Good news for Djed Spence signing a new deal. Led to believe the terms take him until 2029 with an option of another year.

“Been quite the turnaround for him since just over a year ago, but now one of his targets should be to get in among reckoning for England. He has the talent.”

Is Spence good enough for England?

A key factor in Spence never having made his international debut is that he has not been a regular starter at Tottenham. However, with Destiny Udogie injured, this is his time to impress. There is no doubt that on his day, Spence is a brilliant full-back and is good enough to play for England.

After all, it is not as if the national team have a great deal of options in the left-back position. Neither Reece James, nor Myles Lewis-Skelley looked particularly impressive against Andorra and Senegal respectively when England played in June. In fact, those were two very lacklustre performances across the whole team.

England need someone who is willing to take a risk or two and who can drive forward with pace, as well as fulfilling their defensive duties.

Spence is that kind of player and while he does need to work on his consistency, Thomas Tuchel would certainly benefit from having him as an option in his squad.

Eric Dier says he may have finally found a better player than Mousa Dembele at Tottenham

Eric Dier says he may have finally found a better player than Mousa Dembele at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Eric Dier has always held Mousa Dembele in the highest regard, but the former Tottenham defender has now hinted that he may have finally found someone who matches – or even surpasses – the Belgian’s brilliance.

Eric Dier departed Tottenham Hotspur in the winter of 2024 after spending nine years in north London, sealing a move to Bayern Munich in search of a new challenge.

Since leaving N17, the Englishman has enjoyed success abroad, winning silverware in Germany and testing himself alongside some of the best talents European football has to offer.

Throughout his time at Tottenham, Dier never shied away from praising Mousa Dembele, often describing the Belgian as the most talented player he had ever played with.

However, it now seems that Dier’s perspective has shifted slightly, as he admits to having encountered another footballer who has forced him to rethink his long-standing admiration for Dembele.

Eric Dier compares new teammate to Mousa Dembele at Tottenham

Speaking about his admiration for Mousa Dembele in a recent interview, Eric Dier explained how the Belgian was always the benchmark in his eyes, but admitted that his time in Munich had made him reconsider.

Dier revealed to The Fozcast podcast that he has been stunned by the quality of one of his former Bayern teammates, Jamal Musiala.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said: “Before anyone would ask me who the best player I played with was, I would always say Mousa Dembele. He made me have to think. He is just extraordinary; he does things that no one else can do.”

Dier then went on to describe the unique qualities that stood out when he first trained alongside Musiala, highlighting the artistry and freedom with which the player operates.

“He is an artist; the freedom that he plays with is incredible. That night I was just in awe of him, the courage to take the ball anywhere, the way he moves, the way he controls it.

“The way he glides past people surprised me. When I got there and saw him, he was bigger than I expected. He is skinny up top but has big legs, taller and stronger than you would think.”

Dembele has a lasting legacy as a Spurs fan favourite

Jamal Musiala is highly talented and technical, but so is Mousa Dembele, whose quality has long been recognised across the game, with countless players lauding the Belgian as one of the most difficult opponents they faced.

His ability to dictate midfield battles and glide past challenges made him a unique figure during his spell in north London.

Only recently, Alex Iwobi admitted that Tottenham’s Dembele was the toughest opponent he had faced, even placing him above both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi when it came to difficulty.

The former Arsenal man said: “Obviously, played against Messi, played against Ronaldo, but for me I hate to say it because he did play for Spurs. Mousa Dembele.”

He continued: “We spoke about this in the changing room the other day – Mousa Dembele gives you this arm… Bro, he was a joke.”

Asked to explain why Dembele stood out so much, Iwobi added: “When you play against him, you understand – you cannot get the ball off him.

“He is technically sound and he does not really use his right foot like that – he is one-footed. Left foot is insane, he finds a pass, like he is just eating up any man. He was insane, he could control the midfield by himself.”

Thomas Frank reveals five things he already loves about Richarlison at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank is already spotting plenty of qualities in Richarlison that he is a big fan of at Tottenham as the Brazilian competes with Dominic Solanke for that number nine spot.

Richarlison has wasted no time in getting off the mark in the Premier League this season under Thomas Frank, with the striker bagging a brace in Tottenham’s opening league game against Burnley.

Two well-taken goals, including a bicycle kick, helped Tottenham secure a 3-0 win against Scott Parker’s men, placing Spurs in the top three of the Premier League table, although after just one gameweek.

The Brazilian forward has also been the subject of transfer speculation, with reports suggesting that Richarlison is weighing up his future at Tottenham as he looks to cement regular first-team football ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Thomas Frank impressed with Richarlison at Tottenham

TBR Football have now revealed that Richarlison’s style of play is quickly making him a favourite under Thomas Frank at Tottenham, with the manager particularly fond of how he leads the press from the front.

It is understood that Frank has been impressed with Richarlison, who is now strongly competing with Dominic Solanke for a starting spot in attack.

Speaking about the Brazilian’s suitability to the Dane’s style, journalist Graeme Bailey told TBR Football: “Richarlison will get his chance at Tottenham primarily because of the way he plays. We know that Thomas Frank likes that closing-down style, so Richarlison fits into that approach.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Talk around the striker’s future is now expected to ease following such a strong start to life under Frank, with many now seeing him as a player capable of holding down a starting berth.

Bailey added: “Coming into these next two weeks of the transfer window, let us see what happens with him – we could still be talking about him going elsewhere in the final week – but I think he is really rubbing shoulders with Solanke now for that starting role. So, I think it does tell us that Richarlison has a future there, based on the way he plays.”

Richarlison showing his full qualities for Frank

There is no doubting Richarlison’s work ethic and his willingness to put himself about, yet what made his Burnley performance stand out was the complete centre-forward display he produced, which highlighted not only his pressing but also his finishing.

Reflecting on that display, Frank himself was full of praise for the Brazilian. He said: “I think first and foremost, wow! His performance on Wednesday, wow! I think his work ethic, the way he leads the team, the way he presses, his hold-up play and the way he competes.

“But hey, on top of that strikers need to score goals and two great goals (against Burnley).”

Manor Solomon suffers setback in dream Leeds United transfer as he seeks Tottenham exit - Spurs Web
Description

Manor Solomon’s hopes of sealing a dream return from Tottenham to Leeds United have been dealt a significant setback, with fresh reports suggesting the Yorkshire club may be turning their attention elsewhere.

Manor Solomon returned to Tottenham Hotspur this summer after his loan spell at Leeds United, but his involvement has been minimal as he continues to battle back from injury.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank recently provided an update on Solomon’s progress, making clear that the wide man still has a role in the squad.

Speaking on the winger’s issue, Frank explained: “Every player that is here is part of the plans. Manor is just back from his injury, in terms of being on the pitch he had a part training with the team yesterday, so hopefully he can progress after that.”

Tottenham winger Manor Solomon faces Leeds United transfer blow

Yet there is doubt regarding the Israel international’s future, and The Standard is now reporting that Solomon has been open to a switch back to Elland Road this summer, but that prospect has been hit by a major blow.

Leeds United are understood to be exploring the possibility of signing AC Milan forward Noah Okafor, which would put any return for Solomon in serious doubt.

During his loan spell last season, Solomon played a key role in Leeds’ Championship-winning campaign, scoring ten goals, including a decisive strike against Plymouth Argyle that helped seal the title.

MORE SPURS STORIES

His performances endeared him to the Leeds faithful, but with Okafor now emerging as a top target, a Premier League reunion for the Israel international appears unlikely.

Fabrizio Romano reveals interest in Solomon away from Spurs

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manor Solomon continues to attract interest from clubs across Europe, with sides in both La Liga and the Premier League monitoring his situation closely.

According to Romano, the next few weeks could be decisive in determining the 26-year-old’s future.

It is also understood that Tottenham had already decided on their pre-season tour that Solomon would once again be allowed to leave, either on loan or in a permanent deal.

However, with Leeds shifting their focus, the options for the winger may now take a different direction. There remains the possibility of a move to Leeds, although that route is now far from certain.

There is also a scenario where Solomon could attempt to work his way back into contention at Tottenham, as suggested by earlier reports this summer.

Yet with Tottenham showing serious interest in wide options such as Savinho and Eberechi Eze, Solomon’s chances of breaking back into the starting picture may prove difficult.

Tottenham rejected chance to sign Premier League winger after conducting thorough checks

Tottenham rejected chance to sign Premier League winger after conducting thorough checks - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham were presented with the chance to sign a big-six Premier League winger this summer, but the north London side opted against a move.

Rumours earlier in the summer transfer window suggested that Tottenham Hotspur were keeping close tabs on the situation surrounding Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The 21-year-old Argentine is involved in a fallout with United manager Ruben Amorim, who has forced Garnacho out of the first-team picture at Old Trafford. As a result, Garnacho has been placed on the transfer list, with several European clubs showing interest in him.

Among them was Tottenham Hotspur, who at one point were tempted to test the waters with an opening bid for Garnacho, whose valuation was understood to be around £40 million.

Tottenham and Arsenal turn down Alejandro Garnacho transfer

A report from Manchester Evening News now confirms that Tottenham were among three Champions League clubs that considered signing Alejandro Garnacho.

It is understood that Spurs, alongside Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, were in the race for the United winger, but after conducting thorough checks on the 21-year-old, they moved on to alternative targets.

Arsenal, for their part, went on to secure the signing of Noni Madueke and are reported to be interested in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham, meanwhile, sealed the capture of Mohammed Kudus and remains active in the market, with both Eze and Savinho high on their shortlist.

Chelsea now favourites to sign Garnacho from Man United

Chelsea have emerged as the likeliest destination for Alejandro Garnacho, with the winger still searching for a new club despite the transfer window entering its final two weeks.

Last season, the Argentine recorded 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances for Manchester United, highlighting the quality he could bring to any frontline.

From a Tottenham perspective, Garnacho might have offered an exciting option for Thomas Frank’s squad, yet Spurs are instead pressing forward with their preferred signings.

Watch Will Lankshear score first Oxford United goal just two games into Tottenham loan - Spurs Web
Description

Will Lankshear has made an impressive start to his loan spell at Oxford United, with the Tottenham academy graduate finding the back of the net on Sunday in their Championship clash away at Hull City.

Lanskhear has an exceptional record in youth football for Spurs, and he made his mark in the first-team last season, scoring his first senior goal for the club in their Europa League clash at Galatasaray.

However, the centre-forward struggled to make his mark on loan at West Brom last season, failing to find the back of the net in 13 appearances for the Baggies.

Lankshear’s loan spell at Oxford this season is thus crucial to his prospects of breaking through at Tottenham, and the youngster will be keen to catch the eye of the decision-makers at Hotspur Way.

Video: Tottenham’s Will Lankshear scores for Oxford United

The youngster has made a much better start to his time at the Kassam Stadium, finding the back of the net in Oxford’s away trip to Hull.

After the Tigers took the lead in the 2nd minute, Lankshear levelled the scores seven minutes later. The ball dropped kindly to the Tottenham Hotspur man, who volleyed the ball home from around 10 yards out, showcasing his goalscoring instinct.

However, the evening ended in disappointment for Lankshear and Oxford, who fell to a 3-2 loss, owing to a stoppage-time winner from Ollie McBurnie.

Could Spurs have their next Harry Kane or Jermaine Defoe?

The young striker is a boyhood Tottenham fan and has admitted that he is keen to follow in the footsteps of the great strikers who have graced the pitch at N17 over recent decades.

Lankshear has admitted that he takes inspiration from the likes of Harry Kane and Jermaine Defoe, but emulating their achievement at the club is easier said than done.

The young striker has to impress in the Championship this season if he wants to convince Thomas Frank and his coaching staff that he potentially has a future at Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s chances of signing Piero Hincapie this summer

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s chances of signing Piero Hincapie this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Piero Hincapie, but the latest update on the proposed move leaves little to be hopeful about.

Not long ago, it looked like Tottenham Hotspur could be done with defensive signings this summer. Koto Takai was added to the Tottenham first-team squad and many were hopeful that Luka Vuskovic would avoid another loan move.

To add to this, Spurs have been focused on adding attacking depth to their squad. From the signings of Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus, to their unsuccessful pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White, it is clear where Thomas Frank believes his team must strengthen.

However, a few days ago, it was reported that Tottenham were targeting Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie. The 23-year-old has experience playing as both a centre-back and a left-back, so he would be useful to a manager like Frank, who has already implemented two different formations, based on Tottenham’s opponents.

Tottenham suffer a blow in their attempts to sign Piero Hincapie

Piero Hincapie has a £51m release clause, but Tottenham are likely to prefer a negotiated deal, considering the money that has already been spent.

However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Hincapie is not for sale. The Ecuadorian is a key part of the Bayer Leverkusen project and Erik Ten Hag sees him as a crucial player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This may not come as a surprise to Tottenham, because Bayer Leverkusen already told Tottenham they would not listen to offers for Hincapie.

Liverpool and Chelsea also enquired about the defender, while Atletico Madrid were unsuccessful in signing him as an alternative to Cristian Romero, after failing to pay his release clause.

Hincapie would be a necessary addition to Spurs

While there are obvious attacking needs in Tottenham’s squad, the defence ought not be ignored, particularly after last season. There are plenty of options in the right centre-back position, but Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies are their only left-footed central defenders.

The argument could be made that Luka Vuskovic can play on the left side too, but Hamburg could sign Vuskovic on loan. If van de Ven gets injured, having to play Davies would not be ideal. As loyal as the Welshman has been to Spurs, he does not possess the qualities of a top Premier League player.

There is also the fact that Frank may sometimes opt to play a back three. This means another defensive signing would be of great importance and the Bundesliga winner is certainly a great option.

Now it is about whether Tottenham are willing to pay his release clause, but also if the player himself is willing to accept the move.

Tottenham receive frustrating update on Savinho as Man City take firm transfer stance

Tottenham receive frustrating update on Savinho as Man City take firm transfer stance - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to wrap up a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho, but a frustrating twist has just been revealed.

There is one obvious weakness in the Tottenham first-team squad. This became all the more clear against Burnley, as Brennan Johnson had to play out of position, as a left winger. In fairness to the Wales international, he got on the scoresheet in the second half, but playing him on the left is still not ideal.

Spurs have already signed a left winger this summer in Mathys Tel. However, he had been on loan since January, so Spurs are technically no stronger in that position than last season. On top of this, Heung-min Son moved to LAFC, while Spurs opted not to sign Timo Werner on a permanent deal.

It looked as though Spurs would secure another attacking player to operate on the left flank and Savinho emerged as the top candidate. It was recently reported that Manchester City have told Pep Guardiola the club should cash in on Savinho. The Brazilian wants the move and he is not a nailed-on starter.

Savinho may no longer be allowed to leave Manchester City

The news that Man City were open to the prospect of offloading Savinho now appears to have been contradicted by one of the biggest football journalists out there.

Guillem Balague has claimed that City have decided Savinho is no longer for sale. This means Pep Guardiola’s men will not sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid, another player to have been linked with Tottenham this summer. The reason is that the LaLiga outfit were only likely to receive a bid if Savinho joined Spurs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Manchester City hold the power in negotiations because Savinho was only signed last summer. The 21-year-old still has four years remaining on his contract, so even if he were to push for a move, his team have little reason to give in to his demands.

How would Tottenham mitigate failing to sign Savinho?

The obvious option for Spurs if Savinho remains in Manchester is to turn their attention to another left winger. However, the transfer window is almost over and securing a player of the required quality may not be so easy.

Eberechi Eze could join Tottenham and if he does, he has the capabilities to play on the left. Spurs could then look to play Dejan Kulusevski through the middle when he eventually returns from his injury. In the meantime, Pape Matar Sarr or Lucas Bergvall could start in the more attacking role.

Another solution is to change formation to adapt to the club’s needs. This could include having a strike partnership between the in-form Richarlison and Dominic Solanke. However, with Spurs competing in four competitions, this could leave them short in depth in the centre-forward position.

Eberechi Eze’s transfer to Tottenham now ‘imminent’ after journalist reveals latest news

Eberechi Eze’s transfer to Tottenham now ‘imminent’ after journalist reveals latest news - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans may not have to wait much longer to welcome Eberechi Eze to North London, according to one journalist.

Eberechi Eze’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is the hottest transfer story in town. Yesterday, Fabio Paratici was spotted at Crystal Palace’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, where Eze had a goal chalked off by the referee.

Following the final whistle of the match, Eze shared an emotional moment with the Crystal Palace supporters, taking time to clap and pray in front of them. While unconfirmed, some have seen this as his goodbye to the club where he has spent the past five years of his career.

The likelihood of his departure looks to have continued, as Crystal Palace have already placed an offer for Christos Tzolis, who would be signed as Eze’s replacement. However, Palace manager Oliver Glasner has said he expects Eze to play on Thursday in their Conference League qualifier.

Eberechi Eze’s Tottenham move could be imminent

Despite Glasner’s comments, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed Tottenham and Crystal Palace are close to agreeing on a deal for the transfer of Eze. He will cost Spurs £60m, making him their most expensive signing so far this summer.

Eze’s move to Tottenham has been described as ‘imminent’ and that he has never been closer to joining Spurs. Apparently, the England international initially threatened to refuse to play against Chelsea, but this was resolved after a meeting on Sunday morning with his manager.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Palace chairman Steve Parish has informed Eze that he will not delay his move to Tottenham if the club’s terms are met, with advanced negotiations currently taking place.

The attacking midfielder has already agreed terms with Spurs and will sign a deal keeping him at the club until 2030, provided the move goes through.

The same report claims that Palace are in advanced talks with Leicester City over signing Bilal El Khannouss as Eze’s replacement.

Which other players are Spurs interested in signing?

Tottenham could still break their record for most money spent in a single transfer window. As well as Eze, Tottenham are in a strong position to sign Savinho from Manchester City. The winger would likely cost more than Eze, as Spurs have already had a £60m offer rejected.

Tottenham could look to strengthen in defence as well, with a move for Piero Hincapie remaining a possibility. The centre-back has a £51m release clause, but he has no desire to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

Paul O'Keefe reveals what 'everybody in the game' is telling him about Tottenham and Eberechi Eze - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham insider, Paul O’Keefe, who regularly breaks news regarding the developments at Hotspur Way, has just made a big statement on Eberechi Eze’s future, which Spurs fans will be delighted by.

While there has been no shortage of rumours linking the attacking midfielder with a move to Spurs over recent days, perhaps the biggest sign that a deal is likely to go through came following Crystal Palace’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday.

Eze looked emotional as he thanked the Palace fans in the away section after the final whistle, which appeared to be a clear sign that the 27-year-old believes that was his last game in an Eagles shirt.

According to reports, Eze has already told his England teammates that he will be joining Tottenham.

Paul O’Keeve reveals what he has heard about Eberechi Eze’s move to Tottenham

Over the last couple of days, it has been widely reported that Spurs are confident of getting a deal for Eze over the line.

Now, Paul O’Keefe has revealed that every single one of his contacts within the game expects the former QPR man to end up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

O Keefe said on The Last Word on Spurs podcast: “Everybody in the game I’ve spoken to says Eberechi Eze will be a Tottenham Hotspur player.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs fans will still be wary of getting excited about the Eze deal

All signs now point to the England international ending up at Tottenham, not least the fact that Palace are already bidding for potential Eze replacements.

However, Morgan Gibbs-White’s move to Tottenham was also considered a certainty earlier this summer, and we all know how that one turned out, albeit under strange circumstances.
