The news that Tottenham Hotspur have broken their 17-year trophy drought has garnered reaction from around the world, and World Wrestling Entertainment have now sent a memento to the club to mark their Europa League achievement.

The last 48 hours have been surreal for Spurs fans across the world, who have had to wait a long time to see their side lift silverware.

In fact, a whole generation of Lilywhite fans have never experienced that feeling before Bilbao, while many others have gone their entire adult lives without doing so.

That is why the celebrations have been wild since Tottenham got their hands on the Europa League trophy, and one would expect them to continue well into next week.

WWE send souvenir to Tottenham after trophy success

Not only does this win ensure that the ‘Spursy’ tag has been put to rest for the time being, but it also means that Tottenham have secured a place in next season’s Champions League and the financial benefits that come with that.

Additionally, the North London side will also get another chance at securing a European trophy very soon, with Spurs booking their place in the UEFA Super Cup final, where they will take on the winner of the Champions League final between PSG and Inter Milan.

Spurs Play presenter Ben Haines has now revealed that WWE has sent Tottenham Hotspur a world championship title belt to commemorate the Lilywhites’ historic success.

Description

Cristian Romero has taken to social media to send an emotional message after getting his hands on the Europa League trophy, with the Tottenham centre-back insisting that he and his teammates fully deserve the success they have worked extremely hard for.

Tottenham Hotspur needed their big guns and leaders to step up on the big night to avoid yet another defeat in the finals, which would have only further cemented the ‘Spursy’ tag.

That is exactly what happened, with Romero producing a Man of the Match display at San Mames and leading from the front as the Lilywhites ended their 17-year trophy drought.

The defender has made it a habit of winning finals, having starred for Argentina in their two Copa America wins and the World Cup victory in 2022.

Not only did he get his hands on yet another trophy, but Romero was also adjudged the Europa League Player of the Season after his heroic defensive showing across the latter stage of the competition.

Cristian Romero sends a message to Tottenham fans

Romero was also one of four Tottenham players to make it into the Europa League Team of the Season, with the defender proving again why he belongs in the conversation among the elite players in world football.

Not long after the final whistle at Bilbao, Alejandro Garnacho labelled Romero the best centre-back the best in the world, and the former Juventus man has now taken to social media to send an emotional message to the Tottenham fans.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 27-year-old wrote on X: “We are champions of Europe, Tottenham. Like a family from start to finish, we deserved this title. Nobody believed in us and here we are, closing a great season. Thanks to everyone for the love. Come on you Spurs.”

Is this a hint that Romero is on his way out?

While fans have to be wary of reading between the lines too much into what players say, the Spurs vice-captain’s message does appear like it could be a parting one.

There continues to be a lot of speculation suggesting that Romero wants to swap Tottenham for Atletico Madrid this summer, with the centre-back only having two years left on his contract.

Tottenham fans confident of lifting second European trophy in just 3 months - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham fans are daring to dream of another European triumph, as the club prepares to contest the UEFA Super Cup just months after their Europa League success.

Tottenham Hotspur’s narrow but spirited 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final has not only secured them a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League but also handed them a fresh opportunity for continental silverware later this year.

The prospect of competing in another European final has already sparked excitement among the Tottenham fanbase, who are beginning to wonder whether 2025 could deliver not one, but two major European titles.

Tottenham fans react to UEFA Super Cup final vs Inter Milan or PSG

When news filtered through that Spurs would have another shot at European glory this summer, fans wasted little time in sharing their thoughts across social media.

Some viewed it as a golden chance to lift another trophy, buoyed by their recent success, while others were more cautious, aware of the challenge posed by Champions League winners.

“Could you imagine if we win!!!!!” one supporter wrote, while another joked: “Another chance for another trophy or complete battering, but I do not mind any.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

One fan leaned into sentiment, pointing out: “That is Vicario’s home city, we absolutely have to win.” On the other side, some were bracing for the worst: “And we will be humiliated, but right now, I do not care. As long as Ange is gone by then, who knows, we might have a chance.”

Another believed the key to winning was simple focus: “Nah, do not gas me, we will win against either of them if we focus.”

The possibility of back-to-back trophies captured imaginations too: “Football is such a crazy sport. I won’t be surprised if Tottenham win the UEFA Super Cup. No trophies in 17 years and then boom 2 in less than 6 months.”

One noted the emotional ties: “Udogie and Vicario’s hometown. 1-0 up already.” Another could not resist a dig at rivals Arsenal: “Give us PSG – we will show them how it is done.”

The playful tone continued: “Not another trophy to compete for. It is getting too much!” and “Another trophy on its way.. 🏆🏆🏆”.

One simply concluded: “Second trophy loading 😎😎✨✨” while another made his preference clear: “Give us Inter Milan.”

Spurs confidence grows ahead of UEFA Super Cup final

With the UEFA Super Cup looming on 13 August, it is clear that many Tottenham Hotspur fans are entering the build-up with a newfound confidence.

That belief is only natural, and it stems from finally ending the club’s long trophy drought – a breakthrough moment that has injected much-needed pride back into N17.

Now European champions, the Tottenham faithful have little fear about stepping into another final, and when that Super Cup comes around, they will be there in their numbers, ready to back their team again.

Description

James Maddison has opened up on missing the Europa League final but admits he still feels part of Tottenham’s historic European triumph.

Without a doubt, any Tottenham Hotspur fan would have taken the opportunity to win a trophy at the start of the season, given their 17-year wait for one.

Spurs have now ended that long-standing drought, doing so in a way only Tottenham could – lifting silverware but at the expense of their Premier League campaign, one that left fans in agony for most of the season.

Tottenham are now champions of Europe after edging past Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final, a result that has secured their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League despite sitting 17th in the Premier League table.

James Maddison reflects on Tottenham’s Europa League win

James Maddison did play a pivotal role in Tottenham’s Europa League success this season, finding the net against Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of the semi-final, winning a penalty against Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of the quarter-final, scoring again in the first leg of that tie, and notching another goal in the return leg against AZ Alkmaar in the round of 16.

However, the England international was unable to feature in the final after suffering a knee injury that has kept him sidelined for the last three months.

When asked how it felt to miss the final but still be part of the squad, Maddison responded with a cheeky dig at Chelsea’s John Terry, saying to TNT Sports: “They said I had to put the kit on to get a medal! I did not want to do a John Terry! when he went in the full kit and his shin pads.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But what a special feeling. Winning makes [the season] all alright – the pain of not being able to play is not being able to help the team.

“If we win anyway, I know I played a big part in the lead up, I know I deserve this just as much as all of us. But it was not being able to affect it that affected me the most.”

Maddison’s pride underlines bigger moment for Spurs

With the final now won and a major trophy finally back in the cabinet, the attention will inevitably turn to how Tottenham can build on this success, though Maddison refused to delve into future plans.

When asked how Spurs intend to build from here going into next season, he said: “Now is not the time to be thinking about that, it is a brilliant achievement and one of the ways you can qualify for the Champions League.

“But it is more winning the trophy and giving these fans something to shout about because they have had years of years of pain and now they can enjoy it.” When asked how the players would mark the occasion, he said: “Plenty of beer.”

New twist hints Fabio Paratici is closer than ever to a Tottenham Hotspur return - Spurs Web
Description

The clearest sign yet of Fabio Paratici’s return to Tottenham has surfaced, with the Italian spotted in one of Spurs’ biggest games amid growing confidence of his reinstatement as sporting director.

The Fabio Paratici transfer saga continues to drag on as the Italian sporting director edges closer to being available for work following his FIFA-imposed ban.

If you have been keeping up with Spurs Web’s coverage of Paratici, you would know that Tottenham Hotspur are now the frontrunners to bring the Italian back into the fold, after a proposed move to Serie A side AC Milan collapsed.

Daniel Levy remains a firm admirer of the former Tottenham director and is understood to be working behind the scenes to facilitate a formal return to N17, with the two still maintaining a cordial relationship.

Paratici’s suspension is due to end on 1 July, concluding the 30-month ban handed down in 2023 for his perceived involvement in financial mismanagement during his time at Juventus.

Fabio Paratici spotted at Man United match in Bilbao as Tottenham return nears

It was reported a few days ago by TuttoMercatoWeb that once Fabio Paratici is free to return to work, he is expected to head back to Hotspur Way.

Now, the same publication is reporting that Paratici’s return to Spurs is imminent, with the biggest indication coming from his appearance in Bilbao on Wednesday.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to the outlet, the match drew several high-profile guests, among them Paratici, who was spotted in the stands watching the game closely.

This follows earlier reports of Tottenham holding discussions with Fabio Paratici about a potential return in a directorial capacity, once his FIFA-imposed ban concludes in the coming weeks.

TMW also highlighted how Paratici followed proceedings attentively, and noted that nine of the eleven Spurs starters that day were players he had brought to the club.

Fabio Paratici set to make major Spurs managerial decision

It has always been reported that should Paratici return to Hotspur Way, he is set to play a significant role in the appointment of Tottenham’s next manager, particularly after Ange Postecoglou’s poor domestic campaign that has left Spurs languishing in 17th place in the Premier League.

The Australian manager, however, has thrown a spanner in the works by ending Tottenham’s 17-year-long trophy drought with a Europa League triumph, doing so with a squad built largely from Paratici’s acquisitions.

It was recently reported that Fabio Paratici could consider former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli, with two other candidates now considered unlikely.

But with Postecoglou delivering European silverware, it remains to be seen whether the club opts for continuity or change ahead of next season.

Description

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son has now delivered a clear verdict on the future of Ange Postecoglou in North London after Europa League success.

The future of Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is set to be a major talking point in the next few months following his recent success with Spurs, ending their 17-year-long wait for a major honour.

On Wednesday, 21 May, Postecoglou delivered on his second-season trophy claims by continuing a constant theme of his career, winning things in his second spell in charge of clubs, after he beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final.

The Tottenham boss has always spoken frankly about his future each time he is asked, stating that he would always continue to win things wherever he goes.

Heung-min Son backs Ange Postecoglou to stay after Tottenham trophy win

With a trophy now in the bag with Spurs, Tottenham Hotspur now have a major decision to make regarding the future of Ange Postecoglou.

Several reports in recent weeks have constantly stated that Postecoglou’s fate at Tottenham was sealed and that the Spurs boss was expected to leave N17 even if he won the Europa League.

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son has now weighed in on the future of the current gaffer, sending a strong message about “the facts” regarding Tottenham’s managerial situation.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to Son, Postecoglou has won a trophy, something that nobody else has managed to do, and those are the facts.

He told football.london: “He won the trophy. Nobody did it, so …. look, it is not up to me or the players, but we just have to look at the facts, at the fact that we have not won in 17 years, today is the day we finally won it. It is the manager who wins the trophy. So we see what is going to happen.”

Spurs to decide on the future of Ange Postecoglou soon

Tottenham Hotspur still have a Premier League game to come on Sunday against Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Indeed, it is Postecoglou’s Premier League form that has put his future in major doubt, with the manager sitting in 17th place on the Premier League table, losing more games in a single season than any other Tottenham manager in history.

Description

John Terry has clapped back at James Maddison after his cheeky full-kit jibe during Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League trophy celebrations in Bilbao.

It was all celebration for Tottenham Hotspur after the Lilywhites ended their long wait for silverware, beating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao at the San Mames Stadium.

The celebrations are expected to carry on Friday when Spurs will host an open bus trophy parade with their fans in north London.

It was a goal from Welshman Brennan Johnson that all but sealed the deal for Tottenham, who defended their first-half lead valiantly throughout the second half.

Ange Postecoglou had a few selection headaches coming into the final clash, as three of his most creative players were sidelined with injuries.

Among them was James Maddison, who is nursing a knee injury and is sidelined for three months; however, he did make the trip to Bilbao, with the Englishman cheering on from the stands.

While he did not feature on the pitch, Maddison was right in the thick of Spurs’ celebrations, where he threw a slight dig at former Chelsea man John Terry.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked how it felt to miss the final but still be part of the squad, Maddison said: “They said I had to put the kit on to get a medal! I did not want to do a John Terry! When he went in the full kit and his shin pads.”

The former Chelsea then snapped back at James Maddison for the full kit comment, on his Instagram stories, saying: “I remember my first trophy ah bless them.

“Get the tequila out, great season from you boys, you should all be proud 16 to go… After that performance, I think you have a chance. You just have to live for 900 years.”

James Maddison continued the war of words with a message about Terry’s inability to take a joke, which the Chelsea legend responded to with a video of his in-house trophy room. John is clearly a very humble guy.

You can see the full exchange of Instagram posts below:

Tottenham focus turns to UEFA Super Cup

With a European trophy now in the bag, Spurs are now champions of Europe, and no dig aimed at the players or the club would carry much weight as their recent win is sure to silence critics.

Later this year, on August 13, Tottenham would be lining up to play another final, the UEFA Super Cup, and with experience of getting over the line, the Lilywhites would be quietly confident of making it two out of two.

Description

Following Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League win, an emotional Heung-min Son has now declared himself a Tottenham legend.

It all played out according to plan for Tottenham Hotspur, who have ended their almost two-decade wait for silverware in style, securing a European trophy following a 1-0 win against Manchester United.

The fourth European trophy in their history and the first in four decades means that the Tottenham faithful can end their rollercoaster of a 2024/25 season on a high.

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son has been part of the club’s journey in the last decade, witnessing heartbreak after heartbreak with the north London club, after coming close to success in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City, the UEFA Champions League and a league title, but silverware always seemed to elude him.

Heung-min Son declares himself a Tottenham legend after Europa League win

On 21 May 2025, Heung-min Son had his crowning moment in a Lilywhite shirt for the first time, after Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final in Spain at the San Mames Stadium.

Though not in the starting XI from the off, the Korean forward came on as a substitute and helped his side clinch victory on Wednesday night.

It was the perfect ending for Son, who lifted the trophy under the lights in Spain, as the Tottenham players celebrated with fans in Bilbao.

Following the clash, an emotional Son declared himself a legend of Tottenham Hotspur, after he achieved something several people have failed to achieve.

He told TNT Sports: “Let us say I am a legend, why not! In 17 years no one has done it, today is the day, today I will say I am a legend of the club, let us enjoy it.

“It feels amazing, it is what I always dreamed for, it came true, I am the happiest man in the world.”

Son jokes at Brighton postponement after Europa League heroics

Tottenham will hold an open-top bus parade captain on Friday afternoon before taking to the field on Sunday in their final Premier League game of the season at home to Brighton.

Speaking about the prospect of playing once more this season, Son joked for the game to be called off. He said: “I felt the pressure, I wanted it so badly, the last seven games I was dreaming.

“I am going to miss the flight! Today is the day [fans] can celebrate. Maybe we can call the Brighton game off.”

Description

Following an outstanding display in the Europa League final, a Tottenham Hotspur star was showered with praise by his compatriot, who plays for Manchester United.

Tottenham needed their big names and their experienced heads to step up in order to get over the line in the 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao.

The player that many were looking to lead the way in the final is Cristian Romero, who has played a vital role in Argentina’s back-to-back Copa America wins and their World Cup victory in 2022.

The 27-year-old started the game as captain with Heung-min Son initially only found a place on the bench.

Romero led from the front, helping the Lilywhites keep another clean sheet and deliver a very un-Tottenham-like gritty display in the final.

Alejandro Garnacho’s praise for Cristian Romero

Romero was deemed the Man of the Match for the final and the Europa League Player of the Season, with the centre-back being recognised for his heroic efforts to drag Tottenham over the line.

Romero was also one of four Tottenham players named in the Europa League Team of the Season, and the former Juventus man has also come in for high praise from a player in the opposition.

MORE SPURS STORIES

His international teammate, Alejandro Garnacho, told ESPN Argentina after the final whistle: “We know Cuti, he’s the best centre-back in the world.”

What does the future hold for Cristian Romero at Tottenham?

If there were any doubts over the Argentine’s credentials as one of the best defenders in the world, those have been quashed on the back of the performance he has delivered in the latter stages of the Europa League.

Over the last few weeks, there have been a lot of rumours suggesting Romero is keen to leave Tottenham this summer, and unfortunately for Spurs, his performance at Bilbao will only intensify the interest in his services.

Ange Postecoglou hints not everyone at Spurs fully trusted his vision in January - Spurs Web
Description

Ange Postecoglou has opened up on how his challenge at Tottenham Hotspur was different to any of the other ones he has undertaken in his managerial career so far, with the Australian admitting that he did not always have the trust of everybody at N17.

Postecoglou has just achieved what many big-name managers before him have failed to do: deliver a trophy to Tottenham Hotspur.

Postecoglou made a heartwarming speech to the Tottenham players and their families after the Europa League win, insisting that they fully deserved this success on the back of the difficulties they have endured this season.

Ange Postecoglou admits Tottenham challenge was his toughest

In his post-match press conference following the win on Wednesday, Ange Postecoglou acknowledged that the challenge at Spurs has been the toughest he has had in his two-decade-long coaching career.

The Australian admitted that unlike his previous clubs, where he had a complete buy-in from everyone, many people at Tottenham were hesitant to back his vision full-throttle, given how many times the club had been burned over the last two decades.

When asked if winning the Europa League as Spurs head coach is his biggest achievement, Postecoglou responded (via Football.London): “Look, I feel if I say that it diminishes the other achievements. Not for me but the people I’ve shared them with. But it’s definitely been the toughest thing I’ve ever done without a shadow of a doubt. And I knew that going into it.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“This club’s had some unbelievable world-class coaches, world-class players and they haven’t had a night like this. And it’s fair to say that it’s been really challenging because wherever else I’ve had success, by this stage I’ve kind of had the faith and trust of everybody.

“And here it’s been different. And I understand. That’s not a criticism. It’s just I think, because of the club, and the way, it’s history, I don’t think they could ever go all-in on one person. For me, that’s always how it’s worked well, when people back my vision.

“But within that, I think when we got to the end of January, the end of the transfer window, and assessed our situation, I just made a decision there and then that this was the trophy we were going to go for. And probably was at odds with what other people at the club believed at the time we should do.

“Again, that’s understandable. But I just really believed we could win this. And everything we’ve done since then, everything we’ve done in terms of games, the teams I’ve selected, has been about making sure that when these games came around, the Europa games, that we’re in the best possible condition to tackle them.

“That’s come at a cost, for sure, in the league. And I’ve got to take the responsibility for that. I just felt like the end-game of winning something was more important, and it was the only way I was going to do it.”

The Spurs players never lost faith in Postecoglou

Under previous managers, we have seen some players throw in the towel when results start trending downward, which has often been the main catalyst for the sacking of some of Postecoglou’s predecessors.

However, even though Tottenham’s results have been historically poor in the Premier League this season, the players never seemed to lose faith in the Australian and his methods.
