Manager resigns from current job amid reports he is wanted by Fabio Paratici at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have just received a huge boost in their managerial pursuit after an Italian coach, who is rumoured to be the club’s top target to replace Ange Postecoglou, has just resigned from his job.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that a number of outlets over recent months have backed Fabio Paratici to return to Tottenham in a formal role this summer.

It has been claimed that Paratici will have the final say on the next Tottenham head coach this summer, which will come as music to the ears of Spurs fans, given the missteps that Daniel Levy has made since 2019.

A few days ago, it was reported that Paratici’s top managerial target is Francesco Farioli, with the Italian considering him as the ideal candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou at the end of the current campaign.

Francesco Farioli resigns as Ajax manager

It was suggested that Farioli’s €5m (£4.2m) release clause at Ajax made him a particularly attractive candidate for Tottenham.

However, it turns out that Spurs may not even have to pay that fee to land the 36-year-old after he resigned from his role at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Farioli’s departure from the Dutch giants has been confirmed by Ajax after he informed the club of his decision to resign after the club were pipped to the Eredivisie title by PSV Eindhoven on Saturday.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Farioli told the official Ajax site: “My journey at Ajax started almost one year ago, at De Toekomst, with the aim of bringing Ajax back to where it belongs. And it ended at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, finally bringing back Ajax to Champions League, the biggest stage of European football. We wanted to bring new energy to the whole Ajax community, sharing a positive way of working and thinking with the club at all levels.”

“Being Ajax first non-Dutch coach since 1998 and the club’s first-ever Italian one have been an absolute privilege: together with my staff we embraced this huge challenge with respect, responsibility, passion and determination to succeed. Earning the respect and support from Ajax fans we felt throughout the whole season meant a lot for myself and my staff. We lived unbelievable and unforgettable moments all together: a unique, intense, emotional season in which we shared belief, fighting spirit and pride, finally achieving our goal, accomplishing our mission.”

“The management and I have the same goals for the future of Ajax, but we have different visions and timeframes about the way we should work and operate to achieve those goals. Given these differences in the principles and foundations of the project, I feel deep in my heart that this is the best moment to part ways.”

Tottenham’s interest in Farioli undeterred by Ajax’s late collapse

Ajax were top of the Dutch top flight with a nine-point lead with seven games to go but on Sunday ended up finishing a point behind champions PSV Eindhoven.

However, this has seemingly not deterred Tottenham from considering an approach for the former Nice boss.

Description

Harry Kane will not be leading the line in Bilbao, but he is very much still in the picture, as the former Tottenham striker has sent a heartfelt message to Spurs fans ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final.

The Europa League final is all that is on the mind of every Tottenham Hotspur fan right now.

Wednesday presents Tottenham with the opportunity to end their long wait for silverware, while also allowing them to finish the 2024/25 season on a high after a poor domestic campaign.

Around 15,000 Tottenham fans are expected to be in Bilbao to watch their side take on fellow English club Manchester United at the San Mames Stadium.

Others will be gathered at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a club-hosted watch-along event, hoping to celebrate what could be a historic night for the club.

Plenty more will be watching from home, glued to their television screens, willing this team on and hoping for scenes of celebration by the final whistle.

Harry Kane, now of Bayern Munich, finds himself in that same boat. Just like every other Spurs supporter, the Tottenham’s record goalscorer will be backing his former side with pride and anticipation.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Having ended his own 14-year wait for silverware by lifting the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich at the second time of asking, Kane now has his eyes on Tottenham potentially following suit.

Speaking to ITV Sport, he said: “A bit strange for me to be watching as a fan, but you know I am wishing them all the best. The fans deserve to have that joy, that celebration that they have been waiting for, for a long time now.”

Spurs hope Heung-min Son and co can deliver in Bilbao

The Tottenham squad have travelled to Spain, with 20 players spotted on the plane ahead of the final. James Maddison, who had been in fine form in the lead-up to the final, is unfortunately injured.

Much like Harry Kane, he will be in the stands as a fan rather than on the pitch, though he has travelled with the Tottenham squad and will be part of the atmosphere.

Yves Bissouma has urged his Tottenham Hotspur teammates to focus ahead of the Europa League final against Manchester United on Wednesday.

If Tottenham Hotspur are to get a result against Manchester United at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, every single player will need to be at their best.

There will be no room for excuses, since Tottenham are now just one victory away from turning a horrendous 2024/25 campaign into a glorious one by winning the Europa League final.

There is no doubt the players are aware of what they need to do, and now Yves Bissouma has sent a rallying cry to his Tottenham teammates ahead of the final.

Yves Bissouma urges Tottenham to stay focused in Europa League final

Speaking to the official Tottenham Hotspur social media account on Instagram, the midfielder has called on his fellow teammates to win for the Spurs fans, who have suffered a great deal this season.

The Malian international stated that if Tottenham are to win, they must remain focused, acknowledging that the outcome is entirely in their hands.

He said: “If we want to win, we know what we have to do. Let us be focused on that. Let us be the Spurs family. Let us go there and bring this trophy back home.”

Yves Bissouma reflects on hard work ahead of Spurs final

Indeed, Bissouma looks set to start in the Europa League final following an injury to Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who is expected to miss the European showpiece.

The 28-year-old has found himself out of favour in recent months and will be hoping that his hard work pays off as he looks to deliver silverware to the Tottenham faithful.

Opening up on what it has taken to work his way back into the first team, he said: “I was always ready. In my mind, I would never give up. Never, never, never. I play, I do not play, I am a professional, I am here for the team.

“That is how I was always working hard and when Ange called me, especially at this time because I was not playing as a player, of course, I want to play every game, I want to be part of the team every time.

“You know, call me at this time and tell things like this, that shows me I was not wrong to work every day even if I do not play.

“So when he told me that I was like, OK, I know now that I am right, I have to keep going because I know my time will come soon and now I have to show like, yeah, I am Bissouma, I am back again, that I can do something.”

Description

Luka Vuskovic has revealed what Tottenham Hotspur have told him about their plans for the upcoming season and whether he is likely to head out on loan again.

Tottenham signed Luka Vuskovic back in September of 2023, but this summer will be the first time that he sets foot in Hotspur Way since Brexit rules do not allow players to join English clubs until they turn 18.

The teenager has surpassed all expectations on loan at Westerlo this season, establishing himself as a mainstay in the club’s backline and looking completely comfortable in the Belgian top-flight despite his lack of experience at the highest level.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are over the moon with Vuskovic’s progress, with the Premier League club said to be convinced that they have a gem on their hands.

Luka Vuskovic reveals what Tottenham have told him

The 18-year-old has now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are keen for him to have a full pre-season with the first team before they make a decision on his next step.

However, Luka Vuksovic himself acknowledged that another loan move may be ideal for his development, given the kind of big-name centre-backs that Tottenham boast of in their first-team squad.

When asked about his plans for the upcoming season, the teenager told Dnevnik Nova TV: “Right now, I don’t know anything yet. They told me to finish this season calmly and as well as I can, and then we’ll talk. But they did say they’d like to have me at the pre-season with them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“If they want me to stay, I’ll stay, but I don’t think I’d get many chances because the club has top defenders, and maybe it would be smarter to go on loan for another season.”

Could Vuskovic’s loan spell at Westerlo be extended?

Speaking back in February, Vuskovic refused to rule out the possibility of continuing at Westerlo next season.

In April by Westerlo vice-president, Hasan Cetinkaya, said it would be a ‘dream’ to keep Vuskovic for one more season, but he admitted that it is unlikely to happen.

Interestingly, Cetinkaya also asserted in that interview that Tottenham are very happy with Luka Vuskovic’s development and that the club want the youngster to be part of their preparations for the 2025-26 season.

Manchester United told they have lost their fear factor over Tottenham Hotspur

Michael Dawson has made a big claim about what winning the Europa League will do to Ange Postecoglou’s legacy at Tottenham as the Lilywhites prepare to lock horns with Manchester United in the final.

As things stand, it is difficult to argue that Postecoglou’s legacy at Tottenham is positive, given how abject results have been in the Premier League this season.

The Australian has already broken some unfortunate records, including the most defeats Spurs have ever had in a single Premier League campaign.

This is also the first time in 33 years that Tottenham have lost 25 games across all competitions, which does not make for pretty reading for the 59-year-old.

Michael Dawson says Ange Postecoglou can write his name into Tottenham history books

The last Spurs manager to win a trophy, Juande Ramos, is not remembered too fondly by the Tottenham faithful, given the abject run that followed the League Cup win in 2008.

However, Dawson believes that Postecoglou’s legacy at Tottenham will be secured if he leads them to a European trophy for just the fourth time in the club’s 143-year history.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked what standing winning the Europa League would give Postecoglou, the former Spurs captain told Gambling.com: “Ange will go down in history if he can win it [the Europa League]. Because winning trophies, that is history. We still talk about 2008 and Juande Ramos, who got sacked eight months after we won [the 2008 League Cup] in February.

“He and the players will realise that their Premier League campaign has been well below par, and embarrassing really at times, with how many games they have lost, and being in 17th position.

“So he’s put all his eggs in one basket, and I’ve got absolutely no problem with that. They’ve been criticised, they’ve been questioned, yes, they’ve had injuries, but it ultimately hasn’t been good enough.

“So it’s all on this game and it can be a positive season, because Spurs will have Champions League football next season if they win.”

Michael Dawson says Spurs have a superior squad to Man United

Just a few days ago, Gary Neville insisted that only one Manchester United player would get into a combined eleven with Tottenham.

Dawson agrees with Neville’s assessment that Spurs are better than their opponents man-for-man, insisting that the fear factor that once existed with the Red Devils has now completely disappeared.

He added: “100%, definitely [if the fear factor is gone from Manchester United]. You look at them and think you can go there and win. The number of games they’ve lost at home this season is remarkable. When I played, you went to Old Trafford, and you’d think, can we get a point? If you got a win it was some achievement.

“Now, teams like West Ham, who’ve been struggling, go there and win. So they don’t have that fear factor. It’s still Manchester United, but it’s not the Manchester United of old.

“I think they’ve got a great opportunity. The history of Manchester United will scare people, and people talk about it, but this is certainly not the Manchester United of when I grew up, and the players that they had. I look at the squads, and Spurs have got a far superior squad than what Manchester United have at this moment in time.”

Description

Yves Bissouma may have just sent a big hint about his future by telling Tottenham fans that there is a lot more to come from him, but the midfielder admitted that this season has been a difficult one for him personally.

Just a couple of months ago, it seemed like the Mali international was destined to leave Tottenham this summer, and some even suspected that he had already played his final game in a Lilywhites shirt.

Postecoglou had publicly criticised Bissouma’s tendency to let games drift by him, and after the experienced midfielder had fallen down the pecking order, reports indicated that Spurs were already making plans for Bissouma’s sale.

However, the former Brighton man has had a resurgence just at the right time, playing a crucial role in helping Tottenham reach the semifinal, and he may yet write his name into Spurs history by helping the side lift the Europa League.

Yves Bissouma insists he was always ready for his opportunity

The 28-year-old has now said that he never allowed his head to drop when he was struggling for game time for the last few months, revealing that he continued giving his all in training.

When asked about the difficult moment he has experienced at Tottenham, Bissouma responded: “Everyone, and yourself as well, as a professional. You have to understand that football is up and down. In the hard moments, you have to be strong.

“You have to stay strong because it’s not easy. The most important thing for us is that we’re here to learn. That’s why we train every day to be ready for the game.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked if there is more to come from him in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, the midfielder gave a bullish answer.

Bissouma responded: “Of course, there’s more to come. We are always here for learning, I’m still learning. This season has been hard for me because I didn’t play much. The most important thing is if the team does good. I’m here to work, and when my time comes, I play. As a professional, you have to be ready.

“You have to understand it’s not just yourself – you are part of a group. You can’t control things sometimes. The only thing I know is, you have to work hard and never give up and be ready when your team needs you. That’s what I’m always trying to do.”

Bissouma is determined to achieve Tottenham success

Given the injuries that Tottenham have in the middle of the park and Bissouma’s improved form of late, the Malian is almost certain to start in Bilbao against Manchester United.

He insisted that he and his teammates know what to do when they step out onto the pitch at San Mames as they look to end Tottenham’s 17-year trophy drought.

Fabrizio Romano reveals how close Tottenham came to signing Dean Huijsen - Spurs Web
Description

It turns out that Tottenham Hotspur were ‘constantly calling’ to try and secure a deal for Dean Huijsen, but their efforts were in vain as he has now officially signed for Real Madrid.

With various sources indicating that Cristian Romero is likely to leave Tottenham this summer, the Lilywhites are expected to be in the market for a top-class centre-back to replace the Argentine.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that over recent months, the defender most heavily linked with a move to Tottenham has been Dean Huijsen, who has had an outstanding debut season in the Premier League since his switch to Bournemouth last summer.

It was even claimed by Cadena Sir last week that Spurs have already made a firm offer for Huijsen, but the Lilywhites have tasted defeat in their pursuit of the 21-year-old, who signed for Real Madrid over the weekend.

Fabrizio Romano reveals how interested Tottenham were in Dean Huijsen

Now that the Spain Under-21 international has joined Los Blancos ahead of their club World Cup campaign, Fabrizio Romano has explained how the race for the youngster unfolded.

He revealed that Tottenham Hotspur were one of the clubs constantly calling Huijsen, but explained that Ange Postecoglou’s men were forced to pull out of the race after the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal entered the equation.

Romano told GiveMeSport about the race for the centre-back: “It all started with Newcastle pushing in January to anticipate all the other clubs. Tottenham Hotspur were also constantly calling as well as Bayern Munich.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But, the German giants understood they needed to sell a centre-back like Kim Min-jae in order to proceed with a new expensive signing, and it didn’t happen. For Spurs and Newcastle, it also became impossible to compete when Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal appeared with important proposals.”

Which centre-back will Tottenham now turn to?

Other Premier League centre-backs have also been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent months, and the speculation shows no signs of dissipating.

According to various sources, Tottenham are big fans of Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, who now has just one year left on his contract at Selhurst Park.

Antonio Conte tipped to beat Tottenham to popular striker this summer

Antonio Conte tipped to beat Tottenham to popular striker this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Transfer market expert Pete O’Rourke believes that Antonio Conte is likely to beat his former employers, Tottenham Hotspur, to the signing of one of Europe’s most prolific forwards this summer.

With a number of reports claiming that Richarlison is likely to exit Tottenham this summer, Ange Postecoglou’s men are expected to be in the market for a striker to compete with Dominic Solanke.

Undoubtedly, the most lucrative option on the market is a prolific centre-forward who is available on a free transfer this summer.

Several outlets have stated over recent months that Tottenham have held concrete negotiations with Jonathan David regarding a switch to N17, with the forward set to become a free agent next month.

Journalist says Jonathan David could snub Tottenham approach

As one would expect when a player of Lille’s quality is available on a free transfer, Spurs are expected to face a lot of competition for the striker.

Various sources over recent weeks have said that the likes of Arsenal and West Ham are expected to step up their pursuit of David.

However, Pete O’Rourke has said that it is not competition from the Premier League that Tottenham would have to be worried about, naming Napoli as the Canadian international’s most likely destination this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

O’Rourke told Football Insider: “I’d fancy Jonathan David to make a move to Italy on a free. I think Napoli seem to be the ones that are really pushing for the Canadian international. So I think there’s more possibility of them playing in Serie A than the Premier League next season.”

Spurs face one major stumbling block in David’s pursuit

While David is technically available on a free transfer, that does not mean that signing him will not be expensive for Tottenham.

It was reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri that Spurs would need to spend nearly £30m on David, including his salary, signing-on bonus and an agent commission.

Additionally, Tottenham’s tight wage structure may put them at a disadvantage compared to the 25-year-old’s other suitors.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have just learned that a young centre-back who is on their radar is keen on a summer transfer, but it turns out that the Lilywhites are not the front-runners to land the player as things stand.

Based on the transfer speculation over the last couple of months, it very much looks like Tottenham Hotspur are going to persist with their transfer policy of signing young gems and giving them a platform to fulfil their potential.

A few weeks ago, it emerged that Spurs are pushing to sign PSG academy graduate Axel Tape, whose future in the France capital is thought to be in doubt.

The 17-year-old centre-back made his senior bow for the Parisians back in January, but it was revealed that he may not sign his first professional contract with the club, with Tottenham ready to pounce on the youngster.

Boost for Tottenham as Axel Tape responds to PSG

A report in Sports Zone (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now also credited Tottenham with an interest in Tape, stating that the Premier League side ‘highly value’ the teenager defender.

The outlet states that the Parisians made another attempt to convince the centre-back to remain at the club and sign a long-term deal.

However, it is revealed that Tape made it clear to his club that he will not reverse his decision, having already made up his mind to leave when his contract runs out next month.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Interestingly, Spurs are not the only ones interested in the centre-back, with two other English sides and a German side also circling over the youngster.

Tottenham are not favourites to land Axel Tape

According to Sports Zone, the 17-year-old is also on the radars of Bournemouth and Chelsea, who are both keeping a close eye on his situation.

However, the outlet says that the Premier League trio are not at the front of the queue at land Tape at the moment. That privilege goes to Bayer Leverkusen, who have now moved into pole position to land the centre-back.

The publication suggests that Tape is yet to make a final decision on his next destination and faces a big choice over the coming months.

Description

Rayan Cherki, who Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly stepped up their interest in over the last few days, has now made a big admission about his future, which comes as a huge boost for the Lilywhites.

While it is unclear which manager will be in charge of Tottenham this summer, the club are seemingly wasting no time laying the groundwork for some deals in the transfer window.

One of the players who has been most heavily linked with a move to N17 is a versatile Lyon attacker who has been turning heads with his performances at the Groupama Stadium over the last two seasons.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will know that a number of outlets over recent months have claimed that Tottenham are now in pole position to land Rayan Cherki.

Last week, an update from France suggested that Spurs are already at the table taking information on Cherki, ahead of a potential summer move, and the 21-year-old has just made a huge admission ahead of the transfer window.

Rayan Cherki finalises his plans for the summer window

The France Under-21 international has just one year left on his contract, which means that Lyon will be taking a big risk if they do not cash in on him this summer.

The big question on everyone’s lips was whether Cherki would change his mind and commit himself to a new deal at the French club, but the player has now ruled out that possibility, making it clear that he wants a new challenge.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Cherki has now said (via Fabrizio Romano): “I’m ready to try a new chapter in my career. Thanks to OL, the coach, the staff, the president, my teammates and all people at the club.”

Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit of Cherki

Just a few days ago, it was reported by GiveMeSport that Spurs are upping the ante in their efforts to win the race for Cherki.

The report claimed that the Lilywhites had entered into fresh discussions regarding a deal for the winger, describing Tottenham Hotspur as ‘prime contenders’ to land the player.

The outlet further explained that Liverpool are prioritising other alternatives, thus concluding that a move to North London is now a ‘serious possibility’ for Cherki this summer.
