Description

Heung-min Son is far from guaranteed to be at Tottenham Hotspur for the start of the new season, with the club making it clear to the South Korean what their stance his on his future.

Over the last couple of weeks, a number of outlets have claimed that Son is unlikely to leave Tottenham this summer, even though he has just a year left on his contract.

Some sources have even claimed that Thomas Frank and Daniel Levy are happy for Son to stay at the club beyond the summer.

However, the Tottenham head coach did not give any confirmation on the South Korean’s future, with Frank admitting that Spurs face a ‘tricky’ decision regarding Son.

Heung-min Son is aware that he is not guaranteed to stay at Tottenham

It has now been reported by Flash Score that the Tottenham captain is aware that his future at the club is not certain beyond this summer. According to the outlet, there remains a possibility that Son could leave before the new campaign gets underway.

The report says that the 33-year-old will be a key figure for Tottenham in their upcoming pre-season tour of Hong Kong and South Korea, with his inclusion in the squad being crucial for the club from a commercial standpoint.

However, it is suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to commit to the forward staying beyond that, and it could be a farewell tour for the former Bayer Leverkusen man.

Tottenham are not pushing Son out the door amidst Saudi offers

Flash Score say that discussions have already taken place behind the scenes about Son’s future, and the Spurs captain has been informed by the club that they will not stand in his way should a suitable offer arrive.

However, it is made clear that Tottenham are not actively pushing him out the door, even though he is not viewed as being central to Frank’s plans next season.

The publication adds that Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and Al-Qadsiah are all ready to pay £30m to take the Tottenham man to the Middle East this summer.

Description

Heung-min Son’s future remains uncertain despite signs of short-term commitment, as suggestions grow that he could still leave Tottenham Hotspur.

At the early stages of the summer transfer window, reports suggested that Tottenham Hotspur captain, Heung-min Son, could be sold this summer.

However, it was claimed that Spurs were not looking to force their club legend out the door, and if the Korean star were to leave, it would be on his terms.

Spurs fans were quick to voice their opinions regarding Son’s exit links, with many urging Tottenham to sell the club legend and cash in on him.

Heung-min Son open to staying at Tottenham until January

The Telegraph have now reinforced claims that Heung-min Son is happy to remain at Tottenham for one more season. The report states ‘there have been suggestions’ that the club captain is happy to stay in N17 until at least January.

This fresh detail comes after earlier reports over the past few weeks revealed Tottenham have informed Son that they won’t stand in the way of an exit if a suitable offer arrives.

It is understood that following Tottenham’s Europa League win last season, Son left his team-mates and the Lilywhites’ staff under the impression that he was ready to leave Tottenham this summer; however, based on the latest report, things are still very much up in the air.

MORE SPURS STORIES

One would assume that Son would find it very hard to leave Tottenham if they were competing well in the cup competitions come January, though. After all, what’s better than leaving on the back of a trophy… leaving on the back of two!

Son is attracting global interest amid Spurs exit rumours

Interest in Son this summer has been plentiful, with clubs across the globe looking to sign the 33-year-old from his beloved Tottenham Hotspur.

It was claimed that Jose Mourinho’s side, Fenerbahce, were keeping tabs on Son, with Mourinho reportedly interested in reuniting with the Korean international.

Clubs in the Middle East have also shown interest in Son, with Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Qadsiah all keen on signing Heung-min Son.

Gus Poyet names Champions League-winning midfielder he wants Tottenham to sign

Gus Poyet names Champions League-winning midfielder he wants Tottenham to sign - Spurs Web
Description

Gus Poyet has urged Tottenham Hotspur to make a move for a Champions League-winner, insisting that he would bring valuable experience and flair to Thomas Frank’s young side.

Tottenham Hotspur have consistently been linked with a move for Manchester City winger Jack Grealish.

Many supporters of the Lilywhites may argue that the ideal moment to have secured the Englishman was back in 2018, when chairman Daniel Levy attempted to prise him away from Aston Villa.

At the time, Villa were gripped by financial turmoil and appeared likely to sell their prized asset to ease their cash-flow problems.

However, Tottenham’s efforts to land Grealish fell well short. An opening offer of £3 million plus Joshua Onomah was swiftly rejected, and a follow-up bid of £25 million was also turned down after a takeover at Villa resolved their monetary concerns.

Gus Poyet backs Jack Grealish to succeed at Tottenham

It was reported recently that Tottenham are one of four Premier League clubs interested in taking Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City.

However, just days later, those links appeared to cool, with claims suggesting that Spurs were no longer expected to press ahead with a deal for Grealish, after holding internal discussions over a move for the 29-year-old this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking to OLGB, Gus Poyet has now openly expressed his desire to see Grealish make the switch to north London. The former Spurs midfielder believes the 29-year-old possesses the kind of quality and experience that would elevate the current squad.

He said: “I hope so. I think the quality, the characteristics, the ability – everything is there. Then it depends on how the team plays and what the manager asks of you – these are different things.

“At Villa, he was playing okay on the left, but sometimes free, and he was able to do many things his own way. Then he went to Man City and had a role. You need to stay on the left, you need to wait, you need not to lose the ball, you need to pick the right moment to go 1-v-1. When you change teams, you need to adapt to that.

“The quality and the experience is there, so I would expect Grealish to do well in the Premier League at Spurs.”

Spurs shifted focus to Mohammed Kudus over Grealish

It has since been reported that Thomas Frank did not approve a move for Jack Grealish, despite Tottenham’s longstanding admiration of the winger.

Instead, Spurs have turned their attention to younger targets and have secured the signing of Mohammed Kudus for £55 million.

The Ghanaian offers versatility and creativity, with an ability to operate both out wide and centrally – attributes that are not dissimilar to those of Grealish.

With the former Aston Villa man approaching his 30s, and Spurs prioritising younger, high-ceiling talents, it is difficult to envisage a scenario where the club’s decision-makers greenlight a deal for the England midfielder.

Tottenham still interested in Premier League centre-back who is cheaper than Illia Zabarnyi - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a potential move for Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi, but Marc Guehi is a name that keeps being mentioned in the same breath as Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a couple of defenders this summer window, and that has led Spurs fans to wonder if Thomas Frank is eyeing up the use of a back three in the upcoming season.

Rumours have it that Tottenham have shown interest in £60m Illia Zabarnyi in the past few days, although they face competition from Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Spurs are also said to be keeping tabs on Giorgio Scalvini this summer, as Atalanta are reported to be willing to part ways with the centre-back this summer.

Tottenham retain interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi

The defensive links continue, with reports from the Telegraph now claiming that Tottenham retain an interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer.

It is understood that while Spurs have retained interest in Guehi, it remains uncertain whether Tottenham will put in a bid for the defender.

Of course, links between the Palace man and Tottenham Hotspur are not entirely new, as Spurs put in a £70m bid for Guehi during the winter window, an offer that was swiftly rejected by the Eagles.

MORE SPURS STORIES

More recent reports linking Spurs with Guehi have mentioned a price tag closer to £50m this summer.

Guehi impressed during Crystal Palace’s FA Cup triumph

The English centre-back did have a standout campaign last term, as he led Crystal Palace to their first-ever piece of silverware, after they won the FA Cup 1-0 against Manchester City.

Marc Guehi was part of a resolute Palace defence that kept a clean sheet against Erling Haaland and company, helping his side to a historic win.

The 25-year-old would surely improve the defence of the Lilywhites should he join, as he would allow Frank and his coaching staff to line up with a back three when necessary.

However, with Spurs currently stacked with options at centre-back, it remains unlikely that a bid would go in for Guehi, as back in the winter, it was an injury crisis that led to an offer.

Tottenham should fight Borussia Dortmund off with a stick this summer

Tottenham should fight Borussia Dortmund off with a stick this summer - Spurs Web
Description

One Tottenham Hotspur youngster has been linked with a move away from North London, but letting him go would be a monumental mistake.

Anyone who has been reading Spurs Web opinion pieces recently will be aware of the frustration we have expressed over Tottenham academy graduates not being given a fair chance.

One recent article discussed Tottenham’s decision to sell Josh Keeley to Luton Town. The goalkeeper never made a senior appearance for the club.

Few would have expected that the next academy graduate who could be on the move is none other than Mikey Moore. Still weeks away from his 18th birthday, Moore has already made a name for himself at Spurs.

He has become a more frequent name in the Tottenham first-team squad, although he only made 10 Premier League appearances last season. Most of these were from off the bench, and while he was kept out by a lengthy illness, Moore was clearly withheld by Ange Postecoglou, perhaps for his own protection.

Mikey Moore is being linked with a Tottenham exit

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with Mikey Moore for a couple of months and the chances of a deal being agreed look to be increasing.

Moore is open to switching Spurs for the Bundesliga giants and some reports suggest that Tottenham would be willing to include an option to buy in any loan deal for the winger.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Other reports suggest Spurs are unlikely to sanction a sale for Moore. However, they have not ruled out a potential loan deal for the 2024/25 campaign.

Moore should be kept in the Spurs first-team squad

The transfer news on Moore is concerning because where are Tottenham at their weakest? The lack of depth in the centre forward position is a concern. Another full-back would prove a useful addition to the Tottenham first-team squad. However, the left wing is the area which looks the most concerning if Moore is taken out of the equation.

Richarlison wants to stay at Tottenham, but even if he does, his injury history has often restricted him since he made the move from Everton. There is also Heung-min Son, another player who has been linked with a move away from Spurs. Apparently, he is not central to the plans of Thomas Frank.

Mathys Tel is the other option, and there is a reason he did not play a single minute in the Europa League final. His loan spell at Tottenham was certainly not a disaster, but he is yet to show that he is first-team quality.

The same could be said of Moore, but his chances have been more limited. The only reason Tel is a Tottenham player is because Bayern Munich allowed him to display his talents. Spurs must do the same with Moore and give him an opportunity in the first team.

Would a loan move benefit Mikey Moore?

In fairness, a loan move to a club like Borussia Dortmund could be a great opportunity for Moore, as long as he was joining as a first-team starter. However, he could be fulfilling this role at Tottenham, due to the concerns highlighted in his preferred position.

Neither Son nor Richarlison are likely to be part of Frank’s long-term plans. Therefore, he should look at potential future stars and give them their opportunity now.

If Moore is used correctly, he will be able to develop just as well at Spurs as he would anywhere else. You can’t help but look at Phil Foden and Manchester City as the perfect example of how to introduce a youngster into a top Premier League team without pushing him too far, too soon.

Tottenham receive best news yet in quest to keep Cristian Romero in N17 - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of hanging onto Cristian Romero have been boosted by the latest updates coming from Spain, and Spurs may have Chelsea to thank.

As expected, one topic that dominated Thomas Frank’s first press conference as Spurs manager was the future of the club’s captain and vice-captain.

Thomas Frank batted away questions about possibly losing Cristian Romero, who wore the Tottenham captain’s armband for the first-half against Reading on Saturday.

Over the last couple of weeks, multiple sources have reported that Atletico Madrid have called off their pursuit of Romero after Tottenham failed to come to the negotiating table.

Atletico Madrid make transfer decision on Cristian Romero

A new report in Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now revealed that the La Liga side are turning to Chelsea’s Renato Veiga as ‘Plan B’ after falling short in their pursuit of the Tottenham Hotspur star.

The report says that while Diego Simeone was extremely keen on signing Romero, Spurs refused to sell him for less than €70m (£60.6m), which is a figure that the Spanish side were not willing to pay.

As a result, they have now turned their focus to Veiga, who impressed on loan at Juventus during the second half of last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Atletico see the Portuguese as a far more affordable option than Romero, with the Blues willing to sell him for €30m-€35m (£26m-£30.3m).

Atletico have already begun talks with Chelsea over Renato Veiga

It is not just Mundo Deportivo carrying this information, with AS also claiming that Los Rojiblancos have been forced to move for Veiga after Spurs refused to sell the World Cup winner.

The publication claims that the Chelsea man has been on Atletico’s radar for a while and asserts that Simeone’s men have now made contact with the West London side.

According to AS, the ‘back-and-forth’ between Chelsea and Atletico regarding the 21-year-old has now begun, with the Portugal international willing to make the switch to the Metropolitano Stadium.

Bryan Mbeumo reveals exactly why he snubbed Tottenham for Manchester United - Spurs Web
Description

Bryan Mbeumo has now officially completed a move to Manchester United, and the forward has explained why he chose the Red Devils over the likes of Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been widely reported that Bryan Mbeumo’s number one choice was to join Man United, which is why Tottenham were forced to admit defeat in their pursuit of the 25-year-old.

In fact, it was even claimed last month that Mbeumo had personally told Thomas Frank that he only wanted to join Man United.

Following that snub, Tottenham quickly wrapped up a £55m deal for Mohammed Kudus, who was arguably the club’s most impressive player in their first pre-season friendly of the summer against Reading on Saturday.

Bryan Mbeumo explains why he only wanted Man United

The Cameroon international’s decision to choose Man United over Spurs may have left many surprised, given that the Lilywhites are in the Champions League and offered him an opportunity to reunite with Frank.

However, Mbeumo has now explained that he supported the Red Devils growing up and his mind was made up about a move to Old Trafford as soon as Rubem Amorim’s men made an approach.

Mbeumo told Man United’s official website: “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up,’

MORE SPURS STORIES

“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.

“Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”

Thomas Frank wishes Mbemo the best at Old Trafford

Reports over the summer indicated that Frank had identified Mbeumo as his number one target, and Daniel Levy pulled out all the stops to hijack the deal for the forward.

However, the Dane was magnanimous about missing out on the forward and wished his former player luck at Man United.

Frank said a few days ago about Mbeumo’s switch to Old Trafford (via The Metro): “Bryan, of course, is a fantastic player. I have been with him for five years.

“I think he deserved the move, no matter where he goes. As a player, I wish him all the best when you’ve been with a player for so long.”

Tottenham wait as Nottingham Forest edge closer to Morgan Gibbs-White replacement - Spurs Web
Description

Nottingham Forest are now well placed to complete the signing of a Premier League playmaker, who they have identified as their top option to replace Morgan Gibbs-White, who is still waiting for his move to Tottenham to go through.

Nottingham Forest are continuing to fight to stop Tottenham from landing Gibbs-White after the North Londoners met his £60m release clause a week and a half ago.

Various experts have continued to suggest that Gibbs-White will complete a move to Spurs eventually, but it is unclear at the moment how long the issue will take to be resolved.

Some sources have claimed that Forest may simply be delaying the Gibbs-White deal until they sign a replacement, and a new update has now suggested that the Midlands club are now getting closer to doing just that.

Nottingham Forest now favourites to land James McAtee

It was previously reported that Forest wanted to replace Gibbs-White with Man City starlet James McAtee, who played 27 times for Pep Guardiola’s men last season.

A new report from TBR Football confirms that Forest want the City academy graduate to replace the Spurs-linked star, and asserts that the Tricky Trees have moved to the front of the queue for the youngster.

The City Ground has now emerged as the most likely destination for McAtee this summer, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men advancing with their interest in the player last week.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Although the England Under-21 international is also wanted by several Bundesliga sides, including Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, Forest are now at the front of the queue to land the midfielder in a £20m deal.

Tottenham are still waiting on Morgan Gibbs-White transfer

Gibbs-White featured for Forest in a pre-season friendly against Monaco on Saturday, but he has not flown with his teammates to their pre-season camp in Portugal.

However, it has been claimed that Gibbs-White did not travel on pre-season tour for personal reasons and he will join up with the Forest squad later this week.

Description

Chelsea are now pushing ahead with concrete talks to sign an attacking midfielder, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur throughout the summer.

With Spurs’ pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White dragging on far longer than expected, it has emerged over recent days that Tottenham could turn their attention back to a Dutch attacking midfielder who was on their radar earlier this summer.

It has been reported that Tottenham have now reopened talks with Xavi Simons’ representatives, but the RB Leipzig man’s entourage are also holding discussions with two other Premier League sides.

Last month, some sources claimed that Spurs are one of the favourites to land Simons, but the speculation has died down following the Lilywhites’ move for Gibbs-White.

According to a new update, Tottenham Hotspur’s London rivals are now advancing on a deal for Simons.

This update comes from Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Pletternberg, who has taken to social media to state that the Blues are now holding further talks with the Leipzig star’s camp.

He reveals that Enzo Maresca’s men are now looking to strike a deal for the 22-year-old, who is valued by the Bundesliga side at €70m (£60.7m).

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the journalist says that Chelsea are not prepared to meet Leipzig’s asking price and adds that other clubs are ready to pounce on Xavi Simons if the West London club fail to get a deal over the line.

What is the state of play in Spurs’ pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White?

Experts continue to suggest that Gibbs-White’s move to Tottenham is expected to go through eventually.

However, it has now been nearly two weeks since Spurs activated the attacking midfielder’s release clause, and Tottenham fans have understandably grown impatient with the Gibbs-White deal.

Three winners and three losers from Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Reading - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur returned to action with a decisive victory away to Reading. The team performance was good, but the individual displays were a mixed bag.

Tottenham Hotspur took to the pitch on Saturday for the first time in almost two months and got off to a winning start to life under Thomas Frank.

There were plenty of positives to be taken from the trip, with some players showing little to no signs of rustiness at all. Here are the three winners and losers of Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over their League One opposition.

Three Tottenham players had outstanding performances

Mohammed Kudus was a Spurs bright spark

Interestingly enough, the assist Kudus picked up against Reading was one of the least impressive things he did. Tottenham supporters knew they were getting a good dribbler in Kudus and he looked outstanding at the weekend.

One particular highlight was when the £55m man beat three Reading players, played a one-two with Djed Spence and drilled the ball to Jamie Donley. Had the 20-year-old passed the ball to Heung-min Son, Kudus’ run would probably have led to a goal.

As well as his pace, clever dribbling and creativity on the ball, Kudus got into some good positions to receive it. He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when Spence opted to shoot rather than square it to his new teammate, who would have had a tap-in.

Spurs will face much tougher opponents than Reading, but you can only beat what is in front of you, and Kudus did that in style.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Luke Vuskovic was Tottenham’s Man of the Match

The inclusion of Tottenham’s new defender on this list will not come as a surprise to anyone. Speculation over whether Vuskovic was built in a lab has already been raised, and who can blame those wondering?

The Croatian scored seven league goals in 28 appearances for Westerlo last season and now it is easy to see why. He assisted Will Lankshear with a header from a corner and later on, he found the bottom right corner of the net with a beautiful strike.

Spurs already have a defender with shooting capabilities in Micky van de Ven, but the Dutchman only gets forward so often. Vuskovic looks like the type of player who will join the attack whenever he can, and this can only be a good thing, considering Frank wants Tottenham to be brave and attack.

Destiny Udogie looked back to his best for Tottenham

Selecting a third player is difficult because a few players put in top performances. Guglielmo Vicario was agile and alert in goal, Lanskhear scored a close-range header, and Alfie Devine was unlucky to be denied an assist when he sent an excellent cross to Dominic Solanke. Also, Pedro Porro looked a threat going forward and won more duels than any other player.

However, Udogie also had a very good display. The left-back started the game and managed to create two goalscoring chances in 45 minutes. He maintained a pass accuracy rate of 89 per cent, won five of his six ground duels and two free kicks.

Udogie came under serious scrutiny last season, but he improved towards the end of the season, re-establishing his position in the first-team. If he continues to play the way he did against Reading, that looks set to continue.

Not every Tottenham player covered themselves in glory

Dominic Solanke may have competition along the front line

Solanke’s first season at Tottenham was okay, but that is about it. He clearly possesses qualities which help his team to be more fluent in attack, but his finishing was a long way off compared with his displays for Bournemouth the previous season.

His woes in front of goal continued on Saturday, as he missed a chance from Devine’s cross. It was not the easiest opportunity to convert, but it was a chance nonetheless.

During the first 45 minutes, Solanke failed to land a shot on target, while it took Lankshear just four minutes on the pitch to score a goal. This is not a good look for the Englishman, who really ought to be causing problems for a team like Reading.

Tottenham’s level of interest in Yoane Wissa is currently unclear, but if the Brentford goal machine does move to North London, Solanke has every reason to be concerned.

Heung-min Son’s Tottenham future remains unknown

Age has not been kind to the Tottenham Hotspur captain. Truth be told, Son looks a shadow of his former self, and this was particularly true on Saturday.

Son attempted three dribbles, but none of them were successful. His one shot was not on target, and he was unable to create any goalscoring chances. On top of this, some of his touches were heavy, and he looked a bit sluggish.

This could be the Korean’s final season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and hopefully, he will be able to make it a finale to be proud of. It would certainly help if he is given more freedom, rather than having to remain tight to the left wing.

Brennan Johnson is a hero but needs to reach new heights

Other than Solanke, Johnson had fewer touches than any Spurs player in the first half against Reading. He was not especially bad, but neither was he especially good.

Johnson vanishing into thin air has been a far too familiar theme since he arrived at Tottenham. Whereas, his replacement was phenomenal and made a clear impact.

The 24-year-old had a short run of games last season when he consistently made a difference each week, but this has to become the norm. If he keeps going missing during matches, he can kiss his first-team chances goodbye, because Kudus looks like a man ready to give his all for Tottenham.
