Everton comes up with alternative plan to sign Richarlison from Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

We have seen reports over recent days that Everton are not in a position to afford Tottenham’s asking price for Richarlison this summer, and a journalist has now revealed that the Toffees may come up with an alternative plan to take the forward back to Goodison Park.

Like a lot of the Tottenham squad, Richarlison has returned to full fitness just at the right time, and he may yet play a key role in the North London club’s pursuit of Europa League glory.

However, the striker’s future is thought to lie away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with reports claiming that Richarlison is now looking for an exit route from Spurs.

Several outlets have claimed over recent months that Richarlison is on Everton’s summer wishlist ahead of the club’s move to their brand new stadium in Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton’s alternative plan to sign Richarlison

Just a couple of days ago, it was revealed by Ben Jacobs that Tottenham want £40m-£45m for the 27-year-old this summer, which is likely to make him too expensive for the Toffees (GiveMeSport).

Now, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has taken to social media to reveal that David Moyes’s side may come up with an alternative strategy to sign Richarlison.

The journalist has claimed that Everton could look to sign the Spurs man on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy, with the Merseyside club seeing it as a potential insurance policy against the forward’s injury problems over recent years.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Will Tottenham be open to loaning out Richarlison?

While there is no doubt that Spurs would prefer to cash in on the striker, they might have to agree to a loan move if they want to get maximum value for the player.

Richarlison’s injury woes will put off a lot of suitors from paying a big fee for him, while his stock is also not particularly high at the moment, owing to a lack of regular game time.

He is a proven performer at the Premier League level and is likely to score goals back at Everton, which might help the North London club cut as much of their losses on the player as possible.

A potential loan move, along with a £40m obligation to buy if he meets the required appearance criteria, may be the best compromise.

Thomas Frank sends Tottenham Hotspur a warning ahead of the summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a move for two of Brentford’s star men this summer, and Thomas Frank has now sent a clear message on what the North London club will have to do to sign the pair.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that a number of reports over the last few months have credited Tottenham with a keen interest in Bryan Mbeumo.

The versatile forward has had another outstanding campaign, having found the back of the net 18 times this season but he is not the only Brentford striker who could be on the move this summer.

His strike partner, Yoane Wissa, is also expected to attract offers this summer, and it was previously reported that Spurs have already spoken to Brentford about a deal for Wissa.

Thomas Frank makes an admission about Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo’s futures

Frank has now confessed that both Tottenham Hotspur targets could leave the West London club this summer, pointing out that the Bees have always been a selling club.

However, the Danish coach made it clear that it will take a sizable bid to prise either player away, given how they have developed over the last couple of years.

When asked about the speculation over Wisse and Mbeumo, Frank told Sky Sports: “I would like them to stay. I would like all of the best players to stay at the club. We all know that we are a selling club, but they are that good that they need to be at a very good club. But they will need to pay a lot of money for what they get.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“They’ve got quality, both of them. Both of them have developed massively. Bryyan has been here six years. He has definitely done everything he can and added layers to his game every single season, and he is performing at a top level. Both of them are performing at a top level.”

How much would Tottenham have to pay for Mbeumo?

Out of the two strikers, it is Bryan Mbeumo who has been much more heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, and one would assume he is the player that Spurs are more likely to move for this summer.

It was reported back in February by Football Insider that it would take an offer of over £50m to prise Mbeumo away from Brentford.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Brentford duo Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa ahead of the summer, and Brentford are willing to listen to offers for both.

It is no secret that the Spurs are expected to be on the search for new forwards this summer, with Richarlison and Timo Werner expected to depart, and big question marks remaining on the futures of Mathys Tel and possibly even captain Heung-min Son.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham are considering a move for Bryan Mbeumo, whose future at Brentford is thought to be in doubt.

According to various outlets, Brentford are braced for offers from Mbeumo this summer as the interest in the forward’s services starts to grow.

How much will Tottenham have to pay for Bryan Mbeumo?

Sky Sports have now reported that Brentford will indeed listen to offers for the Cameroon international, but they are not under any pressure to sell him.

Mbeumo has one year left on his contract, but the Bees have the option to extend it by a further year, which is why they are relaxed about his future.

There is a feeling at the Gtech Community Stadium that the 25-year-old has earned the opportunity to move to a bigger club this summer, but that does not mean that he will come cheap.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The West London club are expected to demand in excess of £60m when clubs come knocking for Mbeumo this summer.

Wissa, who turns 29 in September, will be available for a lot less, with Brentford turning down a £22m bid in January. Tottenham have been watching Wissa this season, so it remains to be seen whether the Lilywhites make a bid.

Thomas Frank and Christian Norgaard make Mbeumo admission

Just a few days ago, Thomas Frank admitted that Mbeumo will be sold this summer, but only for the right fee.

Frank admitted that Brentford are a selling club, but he made it clear that the former Troyes man will be “expensive”, given the kind of track record he has over the last couple of seasons.

The Bees captain went one step further, with Christian Norgaard admitting to the media back in March that Mbeumo is likely to leave the club this summer.

Dejan Kulusevski injury update: Ange Postecoglou shares what midfielder said about knee blow - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans were left concerned after Dejan Kulusevski was forced off injured in the defeat against Crystal Palace.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou made eight changes to his side to take on Palace with the Australian deciding not to risk a number of his players which featured in the Europa League win against Bodo/Glimt.

Dejan Kulusevski, along with Pedro Porro and Rodrigo Bentancur, who captained the side were the three players asked to go again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Having already lost James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall to season-ending injuries, Tottenham are desperate not to add to their problems ahead of the Europa League final against Manchester United on May 21st.

The Swedish midfielder was on the receiving end of a hefty challenge on the side of his knee by Palace defender Marc Guehi and received treatment on the pitch.

Kulusevski briefly came back onto the pitch, but soon after went to ground and had to be replaced by Mikey Moore.

Postecoglou consoled the former Juventus player as he headed down the tunnel towards the dressing room with his head in his hands.

How bad is Dejan Kulusevski’s injury against Crystal Palace?

Soon after Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, Postecoglou was asked for an update on the condition of Kulusevski as part of the post-match press conference and offered a promising update.

Postecoglou played down the prospect of a serious injury for the Swede which will certainly put the minds of Spurs fans at ease, given the lack of creativity in the side.

He told Football.London: “He should be ok. Just talking to him after. The medical team are not too concerned about him. It was just a knock.”

With Tottenham next in action on Friday when they make the trip to Aston Villa, Postecoglou must decide whether he rests Kulusevski to give him more time to recover for the final in Bilbao.

Five things learned as Tottenham Hotspur lose 2-0 to Crystal Palace - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur recorded their 20th defeat of the Premier League season this afternoon, putting a sour note on a week of celebration for the Lilywhites.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned from Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

Tottenham players let themselves down

Forget about the result. Forget about where Tottenham are in the Premier League table. Forget about the fans who deserve so much more. The players let themselves down today more than anything. Yes, Ange Postecoglou made eight changes to the starting XI, but there were a bunch of fringe players out there who should be fighting for a chace to start in the final.

With James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall out, as well as fitness concerns for Heung-min Son, there is room for a few players to work their way into the XI. Unfortunately, no one showed any fight out there in the North London sun.

The running was lazy, Spurs were second to every ball, there was no press, no one moved for the man on the ball, and the defensive tracking was shocking. You can’t say any of the fringe players out there are exactly knocking on the door of a Europa League final chance on the back of that display.

Spurs can’t use Europa League final as an excuse

You often hear the argument that players take their foot off the gas out of fear of injury ahead of a final. Tottenham cannot use that excuse today. Crystal Palace have a huge final well before Spurs, yet they still turned up, showed right, and worked as a team today. Questions need to be asked.

Dejan Kulusevski injury is a huge problem

The last thing Tottenham needed today was another key injury. The last last thing Tottenham needed was a key injury to their only remaining attacking midfielder, Dejan Kulusevski.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Maddison and Bergvall will both miss the final and, if Kulusevski doesn’t shake that knee problem, who knows who Postecoglou will be forced to name in the number 10 role. Fingers crossed he can shake it, or Spurs will really struggle to create from central positions against Man United.

Heung-min Son returns from injury in time for Europa League final

One silver lining for Tottenham is that Heung-min Son looks likely to be fit enough to start the Europa League final, if required.

The Spurs captain got a good 30 minutes today and you would imagine he will get 45-60 against Aston Villa to get some minutes in his legs. Whether he will be in any kind of form for the final is another question.

Tottenham down to 17th in the Premier League table

This is beyond a joke now. If not for one of the poorest trio of relegated clubs in Premier League history, Tottenham would be in a relegation battle right now.

They haven’t even reached the magic 40 point safety mark yet, with 20 defeats and just 11 wins. Europa League or not, it has been a pathetic season for Spurs. Even without the injuries, Tottenham’s B-team is better than 17th.

Tottenham full time ratings vs Crystal Palace: Antonin Kinsky was solid but 1/10 teammate was embarrassed all game - Spurs Web
Description

The final whistle has just been blown on the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.

Both sides came into the match with bigger priorities with Tottenham booking their place in the Europa League final, while Palace have an FA Cup final against Manchester City to look forward to later this month.

Despite making eight changes to his starting eleven, Ange Postecoglou will be frustrated at the performance of his players, who were second best all over the pitch in a 2-0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Below, we have given each Tottenham player a performance rating on a scale of 0-10, with 10 being the highest score achievable for an outstanding display.

Here’s how the players rated –

Tottenham player ratings vs Crystal Palace

Antonin Kinsky – 6

Pedro Porro – 3

Nowhere near his usual attacking threat, and pinned back for the majority of the game by Mitchell. Replaced by Son on 57 minutes.

Kevin Danso – 2

Spent most of the first half racing back to his own goal, started the second half really poorly and didn’t improve.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ben Davies – 2

Called into the side in place of van de Ven, like many others around him, was caught out positionally on more than one occasion.

Djed Spence – 1

Had an absolute shocker with his positioning which cost Tottenham two goals, his body language looks to speak volumes about having been dropped recently.

Pape Matar Sarr – 2

Has allowed Palace’s midfield to play in behind him, his passing was poor.

Archie Gray – 3

Spent just under an hour in midfield to little effect and later slotted into right-back when Porro went off.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 4

A poor half from the Uruguayan, who was given the captaincy for the first 45′ minutes. Hooked at half time in a likely pre-planned replacement.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5

Sustained a knee injury following a heavy Guehi challenge whcih saw the Swede head down the tunnel for treatment. A big worry ahead of the Europa League final.

Mathys Tel – 5

Have to feel for the Bayern loanee; zero creativity for him to feed off. The only outfield player who looked like he wanted the ball.

Wilson Odobert – 5

Had his first piece of good play on 54 minutes with a decent cross.

Substitutes

Mikey Moore – 4

A tough afternoon for the teenager to try and make an impact when those around him were way below below par.

Yves Bissouma – 3

Came on at half time in place of Bentancur and was partly at faulty for Palace’s second goal.

Heung-min Son – 4

Description

The first half of the action has just ended between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace in North London.

It has been a good few days for the club after Tottenham beat Bodo/Glimt to secure their place in the Europa League final where they will face Manchester United.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have today headed into the dressing room currently trailing 1-0, when it should be at least 3-0.

Below, we have given each Tottenham player a performance rating on a scale of 0-10, with 10 highest score achievable for an outstanding display.

Here’s how the players rated –

Tottenham player ratings vs Crystal Palace

Antonin Kinsky – 6

A first appearance for Kinsky since the FA Cup defeat at Aston Villa in February. Breathed a sigh of relief when he spilled the goal on his goal line. Showed good reactions to deny Sarr at his near post. Has been far busier than he would have liked.

Pedro Porro – 3

Only one of three players to retain their place from the Bodo win. Has had a difficult half up against Mitchell.

Kevin Danso – 4

Did well to get his leg in the way to block a shot from Mateta.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ben Davies – 3

Caught out of place for Mateta’s disallowed goal. Made an important block to deny Palace a shot on 30 mins.

Djed Spence – 1

Fortunate that Palace’s goal was ruled offside. He had tucked inside too much to give the visitors too much room to cross. Lost possession in the middle of the pitch, which resulted in Munoz crashing a shot against the crossbar – constantly out of position.

Pape Matar Sarr – 3

Sloppy in possession on more than one occasion.

Archie Gray – 4

Another rare outing in midfield but will be frustrated with not being able to make the most of the opportunity.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 4

Was given the captain’s armband but has not impacted the match, could not get back to stop the cross for Eze’s goal.

Mathys Tel – 5

Started out on the left but moved into the middle after Dejan Kulusevski’s withdrawal. With no creativity in midfield, has not had any decent service.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5

Operating centrally in the front three and was on the end of a whack to his knee from Guehi, which ended his match on 18 minutes.

Wilson Odobert – 3

Switched over to the left wing when Moore came on, nothing of note from the Frenchman.

Substitutes

Mikey Moore – 4

Brought on in place of Kulusevski but has been a passenger.

The Tottenham Hotspur team for the Premier League match against Crystal Palace has been revealed ahead of kick off.

Tottenham knocked Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt out of the Europa League semi final to book their place in the Europa League final to set up an all-Premier League clash where they will face Manchester United in Bilbao.

The Norwegians faced an uphill battle after their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this month after Spurs’ 3-1 win over Bodo in the first-leg tie.

Ahead of the Europa League final, Ange Postecoglou has unsurprisingly made changes to his side in order not to risk the prospect of injuries to some of his key players.

The Australian is already without three members of his Tottenham first-team squad, with James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Radu Dragusin already ruled out through injury.

Tottenham team news vs Crystal Palace

Postecoglou revealed in his press conference on Friday that Heung-min Son could return from injury to get some minutes under his belt ahead of the European showpiece later this month.

Palace are without talented midfielder Adam Wharton because of ankle ligament damage and have an FA Cup final to look forward to.

This is the Tottenham team which takes to the field in N17 this afternoon:

Harry Kane invites former Tottenham boss to see him lift his first trophy

Harry Kane invites former Tottenham boss to see him lift his first trophy - Spurs Web
Description

Harry Kane’s long wait to win a trophy is over, with the striker getting his hands on the Bundesliga winners’ medal, and he decided to invite one of his former Tottenham coaches to the trophy celebrations at the Allianz Arena.

Kane will be delighted to have won his first trophy in the game, and hopefully, it is the first of many to come over the next few years.

He and Eric Dier proudly hoisted the Meisterschale along with their Bayern teammates as Vincent Kompany’s men ensured that the trophy returned to the Allianz Arena, its rightful home.

To celebrate the occasion with him, the Tottenham Hotspur legend invited someone who not only coached him in the Spurs academy but was the man who gave him his first opportunities in the first-team set-up at White Hart Lane.

Kane makes an admission about Tim Sherwood’s influence

Tim Sherwood watched Kane from close quarters as a youngster during his time with the Tottenham academy set-up.

When he was handed the head coach job on an interim basis for the second half of the 2013-14 season, Sherwood did not think twice about putting Kane into the team in place of the expensive Roberto Soldado.

The striker has not looked back since, and he has not forgotten the role that the English coach played in his career, inviting him for the trophy celebrations at the Allianz Arena.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Kane posted on the Cleats Club: “Great to invite Tim Sherwood to the game tonight. An important part of the career and journey until this point.”

Harry Kane backed to make a Tottenham return in the future

While there is no suggestion that the striker is going to leave Bayern anytime soon, Tottenham have a first refusal clause in Kane’s contract. The Lilywhites are thus in a strong position to bring him back to the club whenever he decides to end his adventure in Bavaria.

Chris Sutton believes Kane will be tempted to return to Tottenham one day and finish his career at the North London club.

However, that day appears a long way away at the moment, with the 31-year-old no doubt keen to win a lot more trophies in Munich and seal his legacy.

Harry Kane sends message to Tottenham after Europa League final news - Spurs Web
Description

Harry Kane is over the moon that Spurs managed to secure passage into the final of the Europa League, with the former Tottenham striker admitting that he will be cheering the Lilywhites on in the final in Bilbao.

After a long wait, the England captain finally won his first trophy last week as Bayern Munich were crowned Bundesliga Champions, and Spurs fans on social media were delighted to see Kane end his silverware drought.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to end their own 17-year trophy drought as they take on Manchester United in the final on May 21.

The Lilywhites have come close to winning several major honours over the last decade and a half, but have always tended to fall at the final hurdle, as Kane himself will be painfully aware of.

Harry Kane says Tottenham players should be proud

Kane pointed out that reaching the Europa League final is no mean feat, particularly considering the struggles Spurs have had in the Premier League.

He admitted that the final is a huge game for the club, and he will be cheering on his former side on against the Red Devils.

When asked about Tottenham’s passage into the final, Kane said on the Cleats Club: “It feels great to be honest. Obviously, big congratulations to Spurs. I know it’s been a tough season in many ways, but to get to a Europa League final is no easy feat.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“They should be proud of themselves. Obviously, one more game to go, a big game for the club. I’m obviously wishing them all the best, and I’ll be watching them in a couple of weeks.”

Can Spurs follow Kane’s lead and break their curse?

Harry Kane’s infamous trophy curse has now officially been broken, and Tottenham will hope that they can now do the same in Bilbao.

While Spurs players may feel the burden of the club’s disappointing recent history when they step out onto the pitch in the final, they will know that they can beat Man United, having done so thrice already this season.

Spurs fans, being eternal pessimists, would certainly not be confident going into the final, but they can dream that their side can pull off something special.
