Description

The Tottenham Hotspur starting eleven which faces Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final second leg has been announced.

A place in the Europa League final against Manchester United or Atletico Madrid awaits with Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt last week giving them a firm advantage ahead of the match in Norway.

The victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came at a cost with James Maddison’s knee injury likely to keep him sidelined for three months.

News of ticket prices and allocation for the Europa League final have already been released by the club with supporters hoping they will be watching their side in Bilbao on Wednesday 21st May, 2025.

Ahead of the potential final, fans will be praying there are no further injuries, considering the match is being played on a plastic pitch in the Arctic Circle.

In the Europa League this season, Porto, Besiktas, FC Twente and Olympiakos are among the teams to have come to Bodo and lost which represents a stark warning to Tottenham to focus on the job in hand.

Alongside James Maddison, Ange Postecoglou is also without club captain Heung-min Son, while Lucas Bergvall will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

Description

There will be a huge sigh of relief at Hotspur Way this week as a big transfer development regarding Real Madrid has significantly boosted Tottenham’s hopes of keeping hold of one of their star defenders.

If reports over the last couple of months are to be believed, it seems a number of Tottenham’s first-team regulars face an uncertain future at the club.

One of these is Pedro Porro, who has been linked with a move away from Spurs this summer, with Manchester City thought to be monitoring the Spaniard.

Perhaps an even bigger threat for Spurs is the interest of Los Blancos, with many outlets reporting that Real Madrid are big fans of Porro.

Tottenham’s chances of hanging onto Pedro Porro boosted

This week, we received official confirmation that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be joining Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of this season.

According to Diario AS, Porro had been identified as the La Liga giants’ option B this summer if they had been unable to get a deal for the England international over the line.

With Madrid no longer expected to push ahead with a move for the 25-year-old, the decision makers at Spurs will be much more optimistic of hanging onto the right-back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Is Man City’s interest in Porro serious?

It has been suggested over recent weeks that Pep Guardiola’s men are considering re-signing Porro, who was formerly of Man City’s academy.

However, it was reported just over a week ago by Football Insider that Daniel Levy will make any negotiations for Porro extremely difficult for Man City.

The update claimed that City are aware that the deal “won’t be easy”, with the North Londoners expected to demand over £50m for the former Sporting Lisbon man’s services.

Description

Dominic Solanke is excited about the young talent at Tottenham Hotspur, naming three Spurs starlets in particular to watch out for over the next few years.

It has been a struggle for Spurs domestically this term, with Tottenham on course to achieve their lowest ever points total in Premier League history.

The squad has been decimated by injuries at different points in the campaign, but the one silver lining to that has been the fact that several young players have got regular opportunities.

The likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have benefited hugely from being able to get a taste of high-pressure situations, and the experience they have gained will undoubtedly serve them brilliantly over the coming years.

Dominic Solanke names three Spurs youngsters to watch

Unsurprisingly, Gray and Bergvall both got a mention from Solanke, with the England international insisting that the pair have great careers ahead of them.

The 27-year-old also admitted that he is a fan of Mikey Moore, who we have not seen much of since the turn of the year, after showing promise when he first broke into the side.

When asked which starlets fans should look out for, Dominic Solanke said on Rio Ferdinand Presents: “Other than the obvious two, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, who have been playing quite a bit this season. I think they’ve got huge careers ahead of them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“They’ve been really good this season. Someone who hasn’t played as much, Mikey Moore. He’s a really talented boy, very direct and a good winger. So I think he’s got a bright future as well.”

More exciting talent will arrive at Spurs this summer

Tottenham will also be boosted by the arrival of another very highly rated teenager this summer: Luka Vuskovic, who has surpassed all expectations on loan at Westerlo.

Additionally, one would expect Jamie Donley to return from his breakout season at Leyton Orient a much more confident and mature player.

There is no doubt that the current Spurs squad is filled with some of the most talented teenagers in world football, but that talent has to be nurtured properly, which is not always an easy task, given the pressure on the coaching staff to get results.

Hopefully, there will be even more young players for Dominic Solanke to boast about this time next season, and Spurs will be all the better for it.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to launch an offer for an English striker this summer, and the Lilywhites are quietly confident of their chances of winning the race for the player.

With Richarlison and Spurs set to part ways this summer after three seasons, the Lilywhites will want to add more firepower to their forward line.

They could turn to a young Englishman who has won a lot of admirers in his first Premier League campaign. It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are big admirers of Liam Delap.

Journalist Ben Jacobs previously suggested that Chelsea are leading Spurs in the race for Delap, but a fresh report has now talked up the Lilywhites’ chances of landing the 22-year-old.

Tottenham are confident of winning the race for Liam Delap

GiveMeSport have now revealed that influential figures at Hotspur Way are prepared to start discussions over a deal for the Ipswich striker as soon as the transfer window opens.

The North Londoners are planning to launch an offer for Delap this summer as they try to steal a march on the competition.

Even though the Manchester City academy graduate is also of interest to Chelsea, Man United, Everton and West Ham, there is said to be ‘confidence behind the scenes’ at Tottenham that they stand a serious chance of winning the race for the striker.

MORE SPURS STORIES

A relegation clause in Delap’s contract with Ipswich allows him to leave for just £30m, thus making him an attractive option for many clubs.

Why Spurs’ recruitment team are so keen on Delap

GMS say that Tottenham Hotspur see Delap as a bargain option, and they have been impressed by the way he has consistently caused problems for Premier League defenders this season.

The striker’s top-flight experience, age profile and his homegrown status are all huge ticks in his favour and have elevated him to the top of Spurs’ wishlist.

In fact, it is asserted that some decision makers at Hotspur Way feel that it would be an oversight not to try and secure the Englishman this summer.

Description

Lucas Moura has spoken openly about the connection he shared with Harry Kane during their time together at Tottenham, revealing a deep admiration for the England striker that went beyond the pitch.

Harry Kane’s time at Tottenham Hotspur will always be remembered fondly, with the forward putting his name in Spurs’ history by becoming Tottenham’s record goalscorer.

While the forward failed to deliver silverware in the years he spent in north London, he has now gone on to win his first major trophy with Bayern Munich, after the Bundesliga outfit secured the title last week.

Several former Tottenham players were quick to send congratulatory messages to Kane, and amongst them was Lucas Moura. The Brazilian commented under Kane’s post on Instagram: “You deserve it brother. Congrats! Very happy for you.”

Lucas Moura calls Harry Kane one of the best in the world

Now, in a recent interview with the official Tottenham Hotspur website, the former Spurs winger was once again quick to hand out praise to the Englishman, stating that he is his biggest fan and that Kane is one of the best players in the world.

When asked how much he enjoyed playing in the same team as Harry Kane, Moura said: “I loved playing with Harry, first of all he is a great guy and an amazing player.

“I always said I was his biggest fan, for me he is one of the best in the world. It was easy playing with him because he was very clever and I understood the way he liked to play, to receive the ball.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“He is the kind of player that, when he was on the pitch, the feeling was that we could beat any team. The way that he plays is incredible and I enjoyed playing alongside him.”

Spurs memories with Harry Kane and Lucas Moura

Lucas Moura and Harry Kane went on to share memorable moments at Tottenham, with the pair playing key roles in the club’s run to the UEFA Champions League final back in 2019.

Moura himself was instrumental in that unforgettable European journey, with his stunning semi-final hat-trick against Ajax in Amsterdam proving to be the defining moment of Spurs’ UCL campaign that year.

Kane, while sidelined for most of that run due to injury, has already cemented his place as one of the Premier League’s finest forwards.

With 213 goals and three Golden Boots to his name, his legacy in north London remains untouchable.

Description

Lucas Moura has shared his honest view on Tottenham’s season, and the former Spurs man has revealed why he believes the Lilywhites can still lift the Europa League come May.

Tottenham Hotspur are enduring a horrid 2024/25 Premier League campaign, with the Lilywhites sitting in the bottom five of the Premier League table.

Spurs have suffered 19 defeats in their 35 League games this season – the joint most in their history in the recent Premier League era.

However, despite their poor domestic form, the Lilywhites still have a chance to end their long trophy drought, as they are still in the semi-final of the Europa League.

Lucas Moura backs Tottenham for Europa League glory

Lucas Moura has been speaking on the official Tottenham Hotspur website, and when asked about Spurs’ campaign this season, the Brazilian gave an honest assessment.

He was quick to acknowledge Tottenham’s struggles in the League, but he remains optimistic that the north London club can finish the season on a high, winning the Europa League.

He said: “I will always support Spurs, it does not matter where I am, they are in my heart. Sometimes it is difficult to watch all the games because of the time zones but I always follow them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“This season, I know that in the Premier League they are not in such a good moment, but the Europa League is different.

“I am sure they can qualify for the final and then win the final and lift the trophy. I am rooting for them; they are capable if they play like they have done in some games this season. I am sure they can win this competition. Come on you Spurs!”

Moura’s belief and Tottenham’s path to the final

Of course, Lucas Moura knows a thing or two about making it to a European final, after the Brazilian helped Spurs overcome a three-goal deficit against Ajax in Amsterdam.

While Tottenham could not get the job done in Madrid against Liverpool, Tottenham fans would be hoping for a different outcome should Spurs make it to another European final – their second in six years.

Lucas Moura reflects on iconic Ajax hat-trick as Tottenham seek more semi-final success - Spurs Web
Description

Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League semi-final second leg tie, Lucas Moura has opened up on his famous, magical Champions League hat-trick back in 2019 against Ajax in Amsterdam.

Six years ago today, Lucas Moura gave Tottenham Hotspur fans one of their fondest memories in modern history. A hat-trick in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, in a game where it looked like Tottenham were heading for the exit.

Spurs were 2-0 down on the night and trailing 3-0 on aggregate, with the tie seemingly out of reach, but Lucas Moura struck twice in quick succession before completing his hat-trick with a dramatic last-minute winner.

It was simply elation and joy for every Tottenham fan as the Lilywhites earned a spot in the UCL final in Madrid. Today, Tottenham are set to embark on another European semi-final tie, although in a different competition.

This time, they go in with a two-goal advantage, after beating Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie.

Lucas Moura relives Champions League magic with Tottenham

Spurs fans will be hoping for a far less dramatic affair this time around, though with European football, the script rarely goes to plan.

Ahead of Thursday’s match, the club sat down with Lucas Moura to revisit the legendary 2018/19 UEFA Champions League campaign. And as you would expect, his recollections were filled with detail, emotion and clarity.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about the group stage memories from that campaign, Moura told the official Tottenham website: “The group was tough. I remember the first game against Inter away, we were playing well and took the lead, then conceded two goals and lost the game.

“Then away to PSV, when I scored but we conceded at the end to draw. The last game was away against Barcelona. When I scored, it was a good feeling but at the same time, we did not know if we could celebrate because to qualify depended on the other game between Inter and PSV.

“So, it was strange when we finished the match but then we saw the fans celebrating and we knew it was okay and we had qualified!”

Reflecting on the knockout victories over Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City, Moura continued: “We played really well in the two games against Borussia Dortmund. We had that incredible 3-0 win at home, and I remember Jan Vertonghen scored and did his amazing celebration, then we beat them away 1-0, playing very well again.

“Against City, it was a crazy game. The second leg was incredible, it was a test for our hearts. I remember at the beginning, we conceded, then scored twice in five minutes.

“Near the end of the game, I was subbed off, so I was on the bench and when they scored I started to cry, I just thought ‘no, it is not possible’.

“I was looking down and crying, then I looked at the TV and saw that it was offside. I kept crying but this time because I was happy. After that game, I was sure we would qualify for the final.”

Lucas Moura details emotions behind Ajax hat-trick for Spurs

Speaking about the big semi-final tie, Moura was asked about his mindset after Tottenham Hotspur lost the first leg 0-1 to Ajax.

“The feeling was bad because the expectation was so high after the City game, then we lost at home to Ajax. Even so, I was confident and motivated, I was sure we would qualify. After the game, I came over to the fans and I said, ‘come on, let us go, we will qualify still’.”

On being 0-3 down on aggregate in the second leg and whether a comeback ever felt likely, the Brazilian added: “We started the second leg well, only to concede two quick goals and it was very difficult at that stage. I remember at half-time, Mauricio Pochettino said, ‘come on, we just need to score one goal, if we score once we are back in the game’ and that was the same feeling I had.

“At the start of the second half, our pressure was high and they could not play as they were used to. About 10 minutes in, I scored the first goal and then scored the second five minutes later. We were playing well, and I thought, ‘it is our night, tonight we will qualify, we will score again’.

“We had done the most difficult part, now we had 30 minutes to score one more goal. The game became a bit confused, we were conceding counter-attacks and so were they, then we hit the crossbar through Jan and the game started to be crazy.

“Towards the end of the game, I felt that if I got a chance again, I will just shoot, so when the ball came to me, I just shot with my left foot and when I saw the ball hit the net, I did not know what to do or how to celebrate. It was a mixture of feelings – incredible, magic.”

Describing his iconic hat-trick, Moura added: “Like I said before, I felt that if I stayed close to the goal then I would shoot whenever the ball came to me. Dele made a good pass, I do not know if he saw me or not, but it was a great assist.

“I hit the ball, and it went exactly where it had to go. It is impossible to describe the feeling when I saw the ball hit the back of the net. It was amazing. Everyone, even the players on the bench, came and jumped on me and celebrated with me, amazing.

“It was a very good performance from the team, of course I scored the three goals, but no-one can do anything alone, it was a great team performance and, of course, the most magical moment in my career. I will never forget that moment, I will keep it in my heart forever.”

Bodo/Glimt backtrack on defender’s harsh Tottenham Hotspur criticism

Bodo/Glimt backtrack on defender’s harsh Tottenham Hotspur criticism - Spurs Web
Description

Bodo/Glimt manager Kjell Knutsen and one of the club’s players have now backtracked on the comments made by Fredrik Sjovold about Tottenham last week, with the pair insisting that the defender misspoke.

One look at Bodo/Glimt’s formidable home record proves that Tottenham Hotspur still have plenty of work to do to progress to the Europa League final, even though they carry a two-goal lead to Norway.

The war of words between the two sets of players has been very interesting over recent days. Jostein Gunderson blasted Dejan Kulusevski for his comments about the artificial pitch, but that was not even the most interesting exchange.

That came a couple of days ago when defender Fredrik Sjovold insisted that Tottenham would collapse in Norway, and remarked that Bodo/Glimt can easily play out from the Spurs’ press.

Bodo/Glimt manager Kjell Knutsen has now admitted that Sjovold’s comments were not well thought out and put it down to a lack of experience.

When asked about the defender’s fighting words, Knutsen responded (via TV2): “I think it was a slightly inexperienced player who didn’t mean it exactly like that. We have to put it down to inexperience. I really trust the internal justice in the player group.

“I don’t think he has completely escaped a small comment about it. There is something about being in the media and gaining experience in the international arena. It is part of learning.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Meanwhile, winger Jens Petter Hauge suggested that his teammate’s comments were twisted out of context by the media.

He said about Knutsen’s controversial remarks: “I think he himself realised that it came out very wrong. What he said and is trying to say is not that bad, but we who have done a lot of interviews know how you journalists twist and turn things. It is stupid to give you that opportunity.”

Fredrik Sjovold has simplified Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham team talk

There is no doubt that Postecoglou will let the Tottenham players know before the game what Sjovold said to get his players up for the occasion.

The Norwegian right-back was very specific and pointed in his criticism of Spurs, and it sounded like something that has been discussed internally at Bodo/Glimt.

The 21-year-old made an error by voicing it to the media, and Spurs fans will be hoping that their side makes the defender eat his words in the second leg.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of landing two of their leading managerial targets have seemingly been boosted after a fresh report shed light on what two Premier League clubs are now doing amidst Spurs’ interest in their managers.

Tottenham’s chances of landing their top managerial target, Andoni Iraola, have been downplayed by a number of outlets over recent weeks, with the Spaniard looking set to remain at the Vitality Stadium.

It has since been suggested by a few sources that Tottenham are expected to turn their attention to Marco Silva, and according to Football Insider, Silva is very much open to taking the Spurs job.

Multiple publications have also claimed over recent weeks that the Tottenham hierarchy are big admirers of Oliver Glasner, whose future at Selhurst Park is thought to be in doubt.

Potential boost for Spurs in Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva pursuits

It has now been revealed by Sky Sports Germany that, amidst Tottenham’s interest in Silva and Glasner, the Cottagers and the Eagles are both making contingency plans.

Both clubs fear that their managers may want a change of scenery this summer, and they have thus already started doing groundwork on potential replacements.

The report says that Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl is someone who appeals to both Fulham and Palace, especially since the German’s contract is thought to contain a modest release clause.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Two relegated sides, Southampton and Leicester City, have also allegedly shown interest in Rohl.

What Marco Silva has said about his future

Amidst all the speculation linking him with Tottenham Hotspur, the Fulham boss had a chance to put an end to those rumours a couple of weeks ago and commit his future to Fulham.

However, Silva simply insisted that he is focused on having a strong end to the season with Fulham, refusing to rule out a departure from Craven Cottage.

Description

A French club have reportedly already begun negotiating with Tottenham’s Manor Solomon, who is expected to be on his way out of Hotspur Way this summer, and this development is making Leeds United nervous.

Some eyebrows were raised last summer when Manor Solomon decided to drop down to the Championship by making a loan move to Leeds.

However, the move worked out perfectly for the 25-year-old, who has not only put his injury woes behind him but has also shown his effectiveness in the final third, with 10 goals and 12 assists in all competitions to his name this term.

Over recent weeks, reports have indicated that Leeds are now working on a deal to sign Solomon permanently ahead of their return to the top-flight, but it has now emerged that Daniel Farke’s men will face competition for the Spurs man.

Marseille want to sign Manor Solomon from Tottenham

According to a report in Team Football, Marseille have become the latest club to enter the race for the Tottenham winger.

The report reveals that the Israeli international is not in Tottenham Hotspur’s plans, and the Ligue 1 side has already started ‘concrete negotiations’ with the player’s entourage.

His profile is seen as a perfect fit for Roberto de Zerbi’s system, with the Italian manager identifying Solomon as the ideal replacement for Luis Henrique, who is expected to join Inter Milan this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Leeds United are on red alert regarding Solomon

Team Football say that Marseille’s advances towards Solomon has put Leeds on ‘red alert’ as they are keen to retain the winger’s services ahead of their return to the top flight.

The report claims that at the moment, the Tottenham man has not made a final decision on his future and is not closing any doors.
