Description

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs at the front of the queue to land a Man United star, who is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi has had his first opportunity to work with the Tottenham squad over the past few days, as the Italian prepares for his first team selection as Spurs boss.

If the 46-year-old does manage to keep the Lilywhites up, one would expect big changes to the squad in the summer as the former Brighton boss tries to instil his favoured possession-based, attacking approach.

It will be fascinating to see how Tottenham’s final summer wishlist evolves over the next month and a half, and it has now emerged that an experienced United star is among the names on the Lilywhites’ radar.

Tottenham are in a three-horse race for Manuel Ugarte

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube channel that Man United midfielder Manuel Ugarte could leave Old Trafford this summer as Michael Carrick’s men eye multiple new midfield additions.

He claims that work has already begun to find a solution for the Uruguay international, with ‘several possibilities’ emerging ahead of the summer.

The expectation at the Manchester club is that they will part ways with Ugarte at the end of this season, as they eye rebuilding their midfield.

BBC Sport have relayed this information from Romano and added that Tottenham are one of three clubs eyeing a move for the 24-year-old.

The report says that the Lilywhites have joined in the race for the Man United star by Newcastle United and Galatasaray.

Senior Spurs midfielder set to depart this summer

According to various reports, a senior Tottenham midfielder is not expected to remain at the club for De Zerbi’s first full season in charge.

It has been alleged that Yves Bissouma is unhappy with how he has been treated at Tottenham over the last two seasons and is keen to exit the club this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have set their eyes on a young South American starlet, who is also on the radars of some of their London rivals.

Roberto De Zerbi has been given plenty of power to shape the Tottenham squad the way he wants to, and one would expect wholesale changes at N17 this summer if they stay up.

One would expect the Italian to prioritise strengthening Spurs’ attack, with the Lilywhites lacking a cutting edge in the final third all campaign.

It has now been claimed that Spurs could turn a young Argentine starlet, who is continuing to hit the headlines in his country.

Tottenham’s interest in Ian Subiabre has caused panic at River Plate

It first emerged last summer that Tottenham explored a move for Ian Subiabre following his impressive performances in the Club World Cup.

According to a new report in El Intransigente, the North London club’s interest in the teenage winger has not gone away. In fact, Spurs are ready to ‘accelerate’ their interest in Subiabre.

The Lilywhites’ entry into the transfer race has ‘set off alarm bells’ at River Plate, especially after another unnamed German club also made contact to ask about the youngster.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report adds that Subiabre’s entourage are not ruling out a big move in the summer and are currently analysing offers.

How much will Subiabre cost this summer?

El Intransigente reveal that River Plate are ‘standing firm’ and do not wish to let their star attacker leave in the summer.

The Argentine club are well protected since Subiabre’s current deal runs until 2028, and he has a €100m (£87.2m) release clause in his deal.

Alfie Whiteman handed incredible opportunity by Tottenham following his retirement - Spurs Web
Description

Alfie Whiteman has been handed an incredible opportunity by Tottenham Hotspur after spending 16 years at the club.

Alfie Whiteman called time on his career in professional football last summer after coming through the Tottenham youth academy and being part of the first-team squad for several years.

The goalkeeper was always a long way down the pecking order and did not make a single appearance for the Spurs first-team despite spending some time on loan and being part of a few matchday squads.

After hanging up his boots, the 27-year-old will now explore one of his other big passions, with the club assisting him in his efforts to do.

Alfie Whiteman is launching an art exhibition and photo book at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Back in October of last year, Whiteman admitted that he decided to quit football to explore his love of photography, and the club are now assisting him with the next phase of his career.

Tottenham have revealed on their official website that the former goalkeeper will launch his debut art exhibition and accompanying photo book at the stadium’s OOF Gallery from 1 May.

The club have announced: “Alfie’s first exhibition of photographs and accompanying book – Alfie Whiteman: ‘A Loan’ – will be housed at the OOF Gallery, part of the Tottenham Experience at the stadium, from 1 May-27 September. ‘A Loan’ is a project which captures life on loan during Alfie’s time in Sweden at Degerfors, where he made 34 appearances across his 18-month spell in the Allsvenskan from August, 2021.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It features a wide selection of photographs from the project, as well as a full-size replica of the lakeside sauna where he spent so much of his time. The exhibition, supported by Salomon, is accompanied by a beautifully illustrated photobook, filled with images and diary entries from his time in Sweden. The book is published by OOF and Somesuch Editions.”

Whiteman’s association with Spurs continues

The club’s stadium will be a fitting setting for the goalkeeper’s big project, as the youngster was born and raised in Tottenham and has had a lifelong association with the North London club.

Whiteman even served as a mascot at White Hart Lane at the age of six and joined the club’s academy aged just 10.

The goalkeeper, who has been capped for England at youth level, was part of the matchday squad in the Europa League final at Bilbao last May.

Whiteman signed off from Tottenham following the trophy success last season, and it is great to see the club assisting the 27-year-old in the next chapter in his life.

Tottenham battle Newcastle and Chelsea for £56m striker on £400,000 wages - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs interested in a former Premier League striker, who is thought to be keen on a summer transfer.

Roberto De Zerbi has made no secret of the fact that the number nine has to be intelligent and versatile in his system, and it remains to be seen if any of Tottenham’s current options can perform that role.

The Italian may thus have to turn to the transfer market to find a suitable option to lead the line next season.

It has now emerged that Tottenham may pounce on a chance to sign a 26-year-old centre-forward, who had a mixed record in one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Tottenham battling two rivals for Darwin Nunez

Back in February, it was reported that Tottenham had held talks with intermediaries over a move for former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, who Saudi side Al-Hilal signed for £56.6m.

A new report in TEAMtalk has now confirmed that the striker is eyeing a summer move, and Spurs are one of the two clubs to be approached, the other being Newcastle United.

It is revealed that both clubs retain an interest in the Uruguay international ahead of the summer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Additionally, Tottenham Hotspur’s London rivals, Chelsea, have now entered the race, and the Blues have already carried out work on Nunez as they finalise their striker targets for the summer.

Nunez is desperate to return to Europe

The interest in the former Liverpool man is not restricted to England, with Juventus, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund also on his trail.

TEAMtalk reveal that Nunez has now been dropped from Al-Hilal’s Saudi Pro League squad following the arrival of Kevin Benzema, due to restrictions on the number of overseas players.

The 26-year-old is thus actively pursuing a return to Europe and is even prepared to take a significant pay cut to do so as long as it is for the right project.

Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray in race to sign £15m Tottenham star Pape Matar Sarr - Spurs Web
Description

Title rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are involved in a tug of war over a Tottenham midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.

There are currently a lot of unknowns at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer transfer window as Roberto De Zerbi begins a new era at the club.

The Italian will get a close look at his squad over the next few weeks before he makes a decision on whether to strengthen in the summer, provided Tottenham stay up.

Many players may thus be fighting for their Spurs futures, and it has now been suggested that a player who has played 33 times for the club this season could be on his way out.

Negotiations held over a deal for Tottenham midfielder Pape Sarr

According to a report in Takvim, Pape Sarr, who Tottenham signed for £14.6m from Metz, is attracting plenty of transfer interest ahead of the summer.

It is revealed that Fenerbahce have started making plans for the summer window, and the Tottenham midfielder is on their wishlist.

The Yellow Canaries have made previous attempts to sign Sarr, only to see their interest knocked back by Spurs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, this time, Fenerbahce are pursuing the 23-year-old ‘more decisively’ and have already ‘restated negotiations’ for the Senegal international ahead of the summer window.

Fenerbahce could face competition from their fierce rivals for Sarr

Fenerbache are a point behind their fierce rivals Galatasaray with a game in hand, and the two clubs may also have a battle off the pitch this summer for the services of the Tottenham man.

Takvim reveal that Galatasaray have also shown an interest in the former Metz man, thus setting the stage for a direct face-off between the two Istanbul giants.

Tottenham one of ‘hottest candidates’ to use a unique discount to sign Fisnik Asllani - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the leading contenders to land a prolific Bundesliga forward this summer as they seek to finally replace Harry Kane’s goals.

It remains to be seen if Richarlison has a future at Tottenham beyond the summer, while reports widely indicate that Spurs will not extend Randal Kolo Muani’s stay at the club.

Roberto De Zerbi may thus be ready to make some wholesale changes to his forward line this summer if the club avoid relegation.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites are positioning themselves to pounce on a 23-year-old forward this summer.

Tottenham and London rivals are leading the race for Fisnik Asllani

Tottenham’s interest in Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani first came to light last summer, and it appears that the North London club have continued to track the forward since.

Last month, a report from Germany claimed that Spurs see Asllani as a missing piece of the puzzle in their attack, and that the Lilywhites are eyeing a €30m (£26m) deal for the player.

A new report in Bild has now confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the Kosovo international while reporting on Borussia Dortmund’s pursuit of the player.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet claims that it will not be easy for Dortmund to win the race for the Hoffenheim star, because two Premier League clubs are keen on securing the player, who has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists across all competitions this term.

It is asserted that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are currently the hottest candidates in the race for Asllani’s signature.

Why Spurs could land Asllani on a slight discount

Interestingly, Bild reveal that for any club which has been in the Champions League for the last three seasons consecutively, Asllani will cost €30m (£26m).

However, clubs that do not fit that description, including Tottenham, can land the Hoffenheim forward for just €25m (£21.8m) this summer.

Tottenham reach £1 billion spending on 43 transfers in last five years, even more than Liverpool - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer activity over the past five seasons has seen them rank among the Premier League’s biggest spenders, despite their current struggles on the pitch.

Tottenham Hotspur will be desperate to stay in the Premier League this season if they are to embark on a rebuild next campaign.

Failure to avoid the drop to the Championship is sure to bring serious financial repercussions that will limit how much Tottenham can spend and the type of players they can attract.

At the heart of the rebuild will be Roberto De Zerbi, who has signed a five-year deal with Tottenham, while it remains to be seen if Johan Lange will maintain his role as sporting director in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham spending revealed as £1bn transfer outlay emerges under Daniel Levy

Of course, many Spurs fans will state that a lack of ambition is what has ultimately landed the north London club in a full-on relegation scrap this season.

Failure to build on past successes and land some of the best players has seen Tottenham fall behind several of their rivals.

However, recent data from Swiss Ramble now shows that Tottenham, when it comes to transfer spend in the last five years, are among the big spenders in the Premier League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In fact, only Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City have spent more in the transfer market than Spurs in that timeframe.

Tottenham have spent a whopping £1bn on new players in the last five years (up to 2025/26), which is the fifth-highest gross spend in the Premier League.

Spurs transfer breakdown shows where Tottenham £1bn has been spent

But who did Tottenham sign in that time period? We have now put together a list of every transfer completed by Spurs between the 2021/22 and 2025/26 seasons.

Our own calculations have the five-year total at around £871m, but it is unclear whether Swiss Ramble included additional fees like wages, bonuses, agent fees, etc into their total. They may have also included the transfers from 2020/21, which would have added another £95m.

‘Poor kid’ – Tottenham slammed for ‘bonkers’ loan decision, just 29 minutes in 3 months

‘Poor kid’ – Tottenham slammed for ‘bonkers’ loan decision, just 29 minutes in 3 months - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s handling of one of their young loanees has come under scrutiny after he has barely kicked a ball since January.

Tottenham Hotspur have a good number of youngsters out on loan, getting much-needed minutes to aid their development.

Some have impressed at their respective clubs, with the likes of Luka Vuskovic, Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore, just to name a few.

However, for others, it has been far from smooth sailing, with Yang Min-hyeok an example. The South Korean international is out with Coventry, but has not hit the ground running with the Championship side.

Thus far, he has only started once, been named in six of 16 matchday squads, played 29 minutes since his debut, and has zero goals and zero assists.

Tottenham loan concerns grow as Yang Min-hyeok struggles at Coventry

Many Tottenham fans who have been keeping tabs on the development of the Korean youngster have now shared their views on how his loan spell has gone so far.

For many, they believe the club has done little to aid his development since he moved to north London. One fan said the club mishandled his situation, stating: “What is hilarious is we got it spot on with his Portsmouth run, was causing limbs with last-minute goals… had to mess it up.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Another supporter suggested the club have overlooked him, adding: “The management simply forgot he exists, else he would have been at a different club after the winter transfer window.”

A further comment questioned Tottenham’s loan decisions: “Why do we keep ‘upgrading’ successful loans halfway through the season? If they are playing and contributing, stick with it. Devine and Scarlett have previously both suffered due to this bonkers reasoning.”

More frustration followed, with one fan saying: “Poor kid was getting his confidence playing at QPR. What a weird decision to pull him from that. But then that is THFC in a nutshell. Clueless from the very top to the very bottom.”

Another added: “More bonkers decisions at our club. Only we could send out loads of our youngsters and suffer yet another atrocious injury crisis. Also mess up this lad’s loan too. It just shows football is never and never will be the main focus of our football club.”

Spurs must reassess loan strategy as development stalls

Of course, fan frustration is normal when youth prospects fail to develop at a reasonable pace, and that can be heightened when it stems from a selection of club issues.

Yang, since arriving at Tottenham, has had three loan spells, but his most recent loan to Coventry is by far the worst of the three.

While at QPR, he made 14 appearances, scored two goals and assisted once. With Portsmouth, he also got minutes, playing 16 times, scoring three and assisting once.

It is clear that the teenager is still finding his feet in English football, but the latest loan move to title-chasing Coventry has done him little favour.

However, nothing can be done now, and Spurs will need to wait until next season before deciding where he heads next on loan.

Tottenham enter fierce race for £26m defender who just dumped Italy out of the World Cup - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s growing interest in a Serie A talent could spark another transfer tussle, with one highly rated defender now attracting attention from multiple clubs in Italy and the Premier League.

The appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as Tottenham Hotspur boss could reignite the Lilywhites’ interest in players from Serie A.

A few seasons ago, when Fabio Paratici was sporting director, Spurs shopped in Italy, signing the likes of Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur, Destiny Udogie and Dejan Kulusevski.

However, with De Zerbi at the helm, we are beginning to see more links with Serie A players. Manuel Locatelli is said to be a top target for De Zerbi, while Moise Kean is one of the latest to be linked with a move to Spurs.

Tottenham join Aston Villa in chase for Tarik Muharemovic as £26m fee emerges

Tuttosport are now reporting that Spurs are among the suitors for Tarik Muharemovic, who has been one of the best defenders in Serie A this season.

The centre-back plays for Sassuolo, where he has featured 27 times, impressing with his ball-playing ability and physicality.

He took his performances a step forward with another top display against Italy in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s World Cup qualifiers, where he dominated Italian forwards.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Following that top display, Spurs are now being named as potential suitors for the centre-back after he passed the test against Italy with flying colours.

Spurs face fierce competition for Tarik Muharemovic transfer

Spurs, however, are expected to face stiff competition for the Sassuolo defender. Aston Villa have also been named as potential suitors for Muharemovic.

Bournemouth could also pose a threat, after the Cherries tried to sign the defender in the winter window, but it remains to be seen if they will return for him in the summer.

As for Sassuolo, it is explained that they are set to demand (£26m), a fee that will hand them an ‘extraordinary capital gain’, having signed Muharemovic for just £4.3m in 2025.

There is also interest in Italy, with both Inter Milan and Juventus keen on landing the defender. Inter Milan, though, are understood to be more advanced, having sounded out Sassuolo over a summer deal already.

The competition could rise further in the coming months, which will most likely make it more difficult for Tottenham to land the defender.

It is explained that Sassuolo would like an auction, as they are a club that survives on capital gains from big sales.

While Juventus have a sell-on clause in his current deal, which would allow them to sign him for less, all of this will only make it harder, and Tottenham are unlikely to find it easy in a deal.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans are all saying the same thing as fresh James Trafford links emerge amid Guglielmo Vicario uncertainty.

It has since been revealed that Guglielmo Vicario is edging closer to a move to Inter Milan in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Vicario is understood to have given the green light to a contract offer from the Serie A side, who have been keen to secure his signature for some time.

With Inter’s interest now advancing rapidly, a departure this summer is becoming an increasingly realistic possibility, and Tottenham are believed to have already begun identifying potential replacements.

Tottenham consider James Trafford move as Vicario replacement

According to Tom Barclay, it is understood that Tottenham are now weighing up a move for Manchester City’s James Trafford as a Vicario replacement.

The Englishman has impressed this season with the Citizens, leading them to a Carabao Cup win over Spurs’ bitter rivals Arsenal – a tie where he impressed.

Tottenham have been linked with Trafford in the past, with interest dating back to the winter window – but no move materialised.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs fans have now reacted to the possibility of Trafford moving to north London, and many are in support.

One Tottenham fan described it as a straightforward call, saying: “A logical decision by the club, surely not???” Another added: “Absolute no-brainer if we stay up.” One supporter said, “I hope this is true,” while another commented: “Now we are talking.”

Another fan offered a more creative take, stating: “Sir Trafford for Vicario? A sensible courtly errand. The House of Spurs needs less theatre in goal and more clean hands, verily.”

One fan labelled him a “perfect replacement”, adding: “Huge upgrade and gk would be sorted for ages.” Meanwhile, another believes a deal should already have been completed, saying: “‘Weighing up’. Should have been done on 1st January FFS.”

One Tottenham supporter added: “Let us hope we have learnt from our mistake with Raya and we just go and make the deal happen no matter what.” Another concluded, “Just go get him early! Would work well under De Zerbi and will be happy to get regular game time.”

James Trafford’s impact as stats highlight potential Vicario upgrade

There is no doubt that Trafford is a goalkeeper with immense quality, and one who will improve the position should Vicario depart.

We already know that the Manchester City backup is comfortable playing out from the back, and that was once more on display in City’s game against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

In that match, Trafford was outstanding in possession and also showed elite shot-stopping, making five saves, including a penalty.

When Trafford was signed back in the summer, he was expecting to be number one for Man City before Pep Guardiola opted to bring Gianluigi Donnarumma through the door.

Being the backup at the Etihad has not gone down well with the 23-year-old, who voiced his frustrations earlier in the year.

Speaking about his lack of minutes and the possibility of a transfer in the summer, Trafford addressed his situation, saying, “Who knows, it is football. Let us take it a day at a time and try to work as hard as I can and whatever happens, happens.

“I have obviously got a contract, so I do not know what happens next season. I just know that I will take it a day at a time and try to improve.”
