Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now received confirmation on just how bad James Maddison’s injury is, and it is terrible news for the club and for the attacking midfielder.

What was supposed to be a day to celebrate Heung-min Son’s Tottenham career in the forward’s final game for the Lilywhites turned out to be a nightmare day for his teammate.

James Maddison was in tears as he was stretchered off in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle in Seoul, and it was immediately clear that it was a bad injury.

After the game, Thomas Frank described the injury as ‘brutal’, and the Tottenham head coach has now received the worst possible news about the 28-year-old.

James Maddison will miss majority of Tottenham’s season

According to BBC Sport, scans have revealed that the attacking midfielder has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The report confirms that the injury is expected to see Maddison miss the majority of the 2025-26 campaign, with the 28-year-old facing a long road back.

It is explained that there were fears as soon as the injury happened that the former Leicester man had snapped his ACL, and those fears have now been realised.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It comes as a brutal blow for the midfielder ahead of what is a World Cup year, and it is the latest in a long line of injuries he has suffered since his switch to North London two years ago.

Following the updates in the media, the news was also confirmed by the club, who revealed that Maddison will now have surgery on his ACL.

Tottenham are expected to spring into action in the transfer market

It has been widely reported over recent days that signing a number 10 has become a priority for Tottenham after Maddison’s injury.

Some sources have even claimed that Spurs submitted ‘an immediate enquiry’ for Jack Grealish following the Maddison setback.

Tottenham reveal second Championship loan for Yang Min-hyeok after Heung-min Son advice - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham have sanctioned a second loan spell for South Korean starlet Yang Min-hyeok, with the youngster set for another stint in the Championship just months after arriving in North London.

It was revealed a few days back that Tottenham Hotspur were working on a few loan deals for some of their youngsters who made a trip to South Korea for their pre-season tour.

Spurs have now returned from Asia and will be turning their attention to their friendly tie against Bayern Munich before their first competitive game in the UEFA Super Cup.

It has been revealed that one of the youngsters who joined Tottenham during the winter window last season is close to securing a loan move for the second time in his Spurs career.

Tottenham agree Portsmouth loan for Yang Min-Hyeok

This report comes from Chris Wise of BBC Sport, who reports that Tottenham have agreed on a loan deal with Portsmouth for Korean youngster Yang.

It is understood that a return to the Championship with Portsmouth should be completed in the next 24 hours for the winger, who is also capable of playing down the middle.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 19-year-old teenager only joined Tottenham last season in January from K League side Gangwon FC, and was loaned a few days later to second division side QPR.

The teenager managed two goals and an assist in 14 Championship games in what was his first spell in English football.

Heung-min Son recently gave Yang some parting words of advice before swapping Tottenham for LAFC. He said: “I’m very proud to see Yang fight for a position in the squad. As for tips, I’d like to see Yang experience things on the field and not think too much or too hard. Just focus on what’s in front of him.”

Spurs continue to send youngsters out on loan

Yang Min-Hyeok would now join several other Tottenham youngsters out on loan, including Mikey Moore, who has joined Scottish side Rangers.

Ashley Phillips also secured another loan to the Championship, once again joining Stoke City. Meanwhile, Devine and Lankshear have also been loaned out, while Luka Vuskovic continues to attract interest from several sides across Europe.

A move to the Championship is sure to benefit Yang, who is still getting used to the demands of English football after joining just six months ago.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have received a timely boost as Dominic Solanke nears a return ahead of the Bayern Munich friendly.

Tottenham Hotspur have not been injury-free so far in their pre-season preparations. Destiny Udogie has been sidelined and even missed out on Tottenham’s tour of Asia.

Dejan Kulusevski has been working his way back to full fitness but is expected to miss the opening games of the new season, with expectations that he will be back sometime during the spring.

James Maddison looked to have been building up his match fitness with limited minutes against Arsenal and Newcastle; however, Maddison suffered another brutal knock against the Magpies, reinjuring his knee.

Dominic Solanke expected to be available for Tottenham vs Bayern Munich

Tottenham have now been handed a major boost on the injury front, as the Standard is now reporting that striker Dominic Solanke is expected to be available for selection for Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.

Tottenham are set to take on the German champions today, August 7, at the Allianz Arena in what will be their final friendly game before they play their first competitive match under new boss Thomas Frank in the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain.

Solanke picked up an ankle injury in Tottenham’s friendly clash against Reading in July and has not appeared since, but it is hoped he can return to the fold as the Lilywhites visit Bavaria to face Bayern Munich.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Even with Solanke’s potential return to fitness, Tottenham remain short in the attacking area of their team ahead of their big final in the Super Cup.

James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are both sidelined, leaving Tottenham without a recognised attacking midfielder in their team heading into the new season.

Brennan Johnson has now shed light on what it has been like working under new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank.

It certainly is a new era at Tottenham Hotspur, with changes taking place on the pitch ahead of the 2025/26 season.

It is no news that Tottenham have moved on from manager Ange Postecoglou, and are now trusting former Brentford boss Thomas Frank to lead them into a new chapter.

Frank has begun to implement his principles and playing style during pre-season, and now Brennan Johnson has offered insight into what it has been like adapting to the Dane’s early ideas.

Brennan Johnson talks about adapting to Thomas Frank’s style at Tottenham

Speaking to football.london, Johnson has reflected on the tactical shift under Thomas Frank, making it clear that while things are changing, he remains excited about what lies ahead.

He spoke about how he benefited from Ange Postecoglou’s tactics, and how he now needs to adapt to a different style.

Johnson said, about Postecoglou’s system: “It was a different tactic from most teams but it definitely suited me. He was the manager who brought me in and he was very much key to me scoring a lot of goals.

“Now it is different. It is a new look at how we are going to play and it is one I am also very excited about. I can also be very important to the team. Of course, I have good memories of the last two seasons but I am really excited to get going now and for the season to start.”

Brennan Johnson was one of the few players who truly benefited from Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system, with the winger often popping up in the right areas to finish off chances.

His sharp positioning and poacher’s instinct saw him end last season as Tottenham’s top scorer in all competitions, and he also bagged the decisive goal in the Europa League final.

Spurs forward Brennan Johnson praises Thomas Frank’s tactical vision

With Frank now at the helm, Johnson would be looking to impress his new boss, and what will help Johnson even further is that Thomas Frank once wanted him at Brentford.

Speaking further, Johnson revealed how highly he regards his new manager and the work Frank has done in the Premier League.

“It is nice to finally work with him. He was always someone who impressed me even though I never played under him,” the Wales international said.

“Even though we played for different teams, I think a lot of people could respect how Brentford played and how hard they were to beat. The quality they had in attacking areas.

“They had great players. A lot of that was down to him because when he took over they were a lot worse off. He took them to become an established Premier League team. It shows what kind of development he can do and we are all very excited.”

Description

Kevin Danso has admitted that he has loved working with Thomas Frank and his Tottenham coaching staff over the last few weeks, and opened up on how hard the fitness work has been under the Dane this summer.

From Tottenham’s performances in pre-season, one can already see that Frank has put his imprint on this Spurs side, who appear more organised defensively and are much happier to let their opposition have the ball.

Frank has said that he wants Spurs to be more balanced than they were last season, with the Dane stressing the need for his side to be good in all phases of play.

We have already heard from inside the Tottenham dressing room that Frank is winning over the Spurs players with his ideas, and Danso has now confirmed the same.

Kevin Danso reveals what he is enjoying the most about Tottenham pre-season

The 26-year-old arrived from Lens to a Spurs side that had a very different way of playing, and as a centre-back, he was expected to defend a lot of space behind him in a high line under Postecoglou.

Danso has now admitted that he has been enjoying the new ideas that Frank has brought to the club and the increased focus in training on blocking shots.

When asked how it has been to work under Frank, the Austrian international told Football.London: “It’s brilliant. We have been enjoying every moment of it. It’s something exciting. It’s always exciting when it’s a new start. New ideas and everybody is trying to take it in their stride as much as possible.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“We are just looking to improve on what we did last season. You can see from the way we play the work ethic, and you have seen some of the training videos [of players throwing themselves in the way of shots].

“That’s fun for me, as a defender, it’s something I love to do that. You have seen the defending and blocking clips. That’s all, a bit of fun as well as actual tactical work. For me, it’s about taking it every moment, step by step and enjoying it.”

Danso opens up on ‘tough’ fitness tests under Frank

As Spurs Web previously covered, the Tottenham players have been asked to regularly perform 1k shuttle runs in pre-season.

We have seen footage of many Spurs players collapsing to the ground breathless after their runs, but Danso has insisted that while the tests have been tough, he has enjoyed the hard work in pre-season.

When asked about the shuttle runs, the centre-back said: “Tough! It was my first time doing something like that. Very tough but good,

“I wasn’t here last pre-season, but it’s been a tough pre-season. A lot of running and hard work. We try to implement that in our game and the way we play.”

Description

Brennan Johnson has now reflected on that surreal Europa League final night, his birthday parade, and how he sees Tottenham through new eyes.

Brennan Johnson has become something of a cult hero at Tottenham Hotspur, with his historic toe poke in the Europa League final sealing a dramatic and long-awaited victory over Premier League rivals Manchester United.

His chant – Johnson Ole Ole Ole – continues to echo around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and rightly so, given the magnitude of his strike and what it represented.

The Welsh international was not just the match-winner in Bilbao; he was also Tottenham’s top scorer across all competitions last season. Now, he has taken time to reflect on some of the standout moments from that campaign.

Brennan Johnson opens up on Europa League final and Tottenham parade

Speaking to football.london, Brennan Johnson has opened up about that unforgettable night in northern Spain, his birthday parade, and the eye-opening realisations that followed.

He admitted with a laugh that it was him again – the man behind the winning goal that ended Spurs’ 17-year wait for European silverware.

While several angles do not often show Johnson getting the final touch of the only goal in the final, the Tottenham winger confirmed that he indeed got the final touch, saying “yeah” with a smile when asked about his toe poke.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking about the feeling of being European champion, he continued: “Still if I see a video back or pictures of it, it does not feel real because it was such a surreal moment at the time. It is definitely weird to look back at it but it is an amazing memory.”

Reflecting on the aftermath, Johnson described how the club’s trophy parade helped him understand the scale of Tottenham’s global support. “I remember a lot. For me, it opened my eyes to how big the club is.

“Obviously, we know about Tottenham and you experience it from the stadium, how it is sold out every week. When you do these parades and you keep going further away, but no one is going anywhere.

“You get more and more people. It really opens your eyes to how big the fanbase is. Just enjoying it with the team, everyone being there. The energy was so high. It was a really special day. It was my birthday as well.”

Johnson on personal growth and Spurs learning curve

Of course, Johnson was not always a popular figure at Hotspur Way last term, with the winger having to deactivate his social media accounts.

Reflecting on the full campaign, Johnson described last season as one that changed his outlook on and off the pitch. The ups and downs shaped him in more ways than one.

“That season was like a rollercoaster, to be honest. So many different emotions. It taught me so much about football,” he explained.

“Not just on the pitch but off it. How you spend your spare time and who you spend it with. How you get on with your team, speaking to people. It takes a while to find a balance.

“I would not have last season any different than it was. I learnt a lot. I improved a lot. Won as a team, lost a lot of games as well. In terms of things that you get in football, I do not think this season will be like last season. Ups and downs, how much I learned. Really important season for my development.

“Now I am much more relaxed about how I see things. I know what I want to do and how I want to be as an individual. In terms of dealing with other things outside of football, I know who I like to spend my time with and the people around me. I just work hard and if it happens, it happens.”

Tottenham have £26m Barcelona midfielder on wishlist, already made approach this summer - Spurs Web
Description

According to reports from Spain, Tottenham Hotspur are one of three big European clubs that have expressed an interest in a Barcelona midfielder.

Jaoa Palhinha has become Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer, with Thomas Frank delighted to bolster his midfield stocks with Palhinha’s addition.

According to reports, Spurs remain keen on adding an attacking midfielder to their squad after their failed move for Morgan Gibbs-White.

However, it is unclear if the Lilywhites will want to bring another central midfielder through the door, even though Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Tottenham.

A new report from Spain has now suggested that Spurs have explored a move for a young La Liga number six this summer.

Tottenham expressed an interest in Marc Casado

This update comes from Sport and claims that Marc Casado is on Tottenham’s wishlist this summer.

The Spain international played 36 times for the La Liga giants last season, but it is revealed that he is not in Arne Slot’s plans for the future.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs reportedly contacted Barca to ask about Casado’s availability, while Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are also keeping an eye on the youngster’s situation.

The 21-year-old is expected to be available for a cut-price fee, but Tottenham Hotspur and his other suitors have one problem.

Casado’s stance on his future revealed

Sport claim that Barcelona are ready to sell the Tottenham target for €30m (£26.1m) this summer, with the club keen to raise funds.

However, the issue for Spurs and others is that Casado is reluctant to leave the Catalan side and would prefer to stay and fight for his place.

Interestingly, the outlet asserts Tottenham made an approach for the midfielder before turning their attention to Palhinha.

If that is true, then it means that Spurs are not likely to reignite their interest in the Barca star now that they have secured the 30-year-old’s services.

Description

A big-name forward, who Tottenham Hotspur have held an interest in since January, has snubbed approaches from Spurs and Manchester United, and he is now edging closer to his preferred destination.

Just over a week ago, Thomas Frank confirmed Tottenham may not be done adding to their forward line this summer.

Adding firepower to their frontline may have become an even bigger priority for the Lilywhites following Heung-min Son’s exit from Spurs.

It was reported a few days ago that Tottenham have reignited their interest in Randal Kolo Muani after making an approach for him in January.

It was explained that the Frenchman’s permanent move to Juventus had stalled, thus opening the door for Tottenham Hotspur to swoop for him. However, a new update has now suggested that Thomas Frank’s men have suffered a blow in their pursuit of the PSG star.

Randal Kolo Muani snubs Tottenham and another Premier League club

This update comes from TuttoSport, who claim that the centre-forward has rejected enquiries from both Tottenham and Manchester United.

The report says that the 27-year-old remains keen on returning to the Allianz Stadium and a deal to take him to Turn is progressing in the right direction.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet asserts that the France international is likely to join Juve on an initial loan deal worth €10m (£8.7m) to €15m (£13m) and an obligation to buy set at €30m (£26.1m), with an agreement now edging closer.

It was previously reported by TBR Football that PSG value Kolo Muani at €50m (£43.3m).

Tottenham are plotting a move for a big-money Brazilian star

Some reports from Spain have claimed that Tottenham want to replace Heung-min Son with Brazilian star Rodrygo this summer.

In fact, Marca have asserted that Spurs have already made an opening offer for Rodrygo after the player expressed a willingness to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

The same update claimed that Real Madrid value Rodrygo at €70m-€80m (£60.8m-£70m) and that Liverpool and Chelsea are also circling over the winger.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed Heung-min Son has joined LAFC, bringing an end to his remarkable decade-long spell in north London.

Rumours started doing the rounds after Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League triumph that Heung-min Son’s time at N17 could very much be up this summer.

Reports claimed that the Tottenham captain had left many in the dressing room with the impression that his time at N17 could be up after that historic night in Bilbao.

Son put all rumours regarding his future to rest on Saturday, 1 August, in a press conference in South Korea alongside new boss Thomas Frank, stating that he would depart his beloved Tottenham after a decade-long stay at N17 having joined when he was 23.

Tottenham confirm Heung-min Son LAFC move

Heung-min Son has been linked with several clubs this summer, including sides in Europe, America and the Middle East. However, for some time now, MLS side LA FC have long been touted as favourites to land the Korean star.

Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed that after a decade-long stay at the club, Heung-min Son has departee for MLS side LA FC.

The former Tottenham captain will now link up with another ex-captain, Hugo Lloris, who is currently the number one shot-stopper for the American outfit.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Son edged his name into the history books at Tottenham when he ended the club’s 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League as club captain in the 2024/25 season.

Heung-min Son leaves behind iconic Spurs legacy

Several Tottenham fans have been quick to bid farewell to Heung-min Son, who has become synonymous with Tottenham Hotspur.

Son himself declared he was a legend of Tottenham after winning the Europa League in Bilbao, Spain, and would now be departing Spurs two seasons after former teammate Harry Kane’s departure.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy told the official site: “Sonny is one of the greatest players to ever wear the famous Lilywhite shirt and he has been a joy to watch over the past decade. Not only is he a wonderfully gifted footballer, but he’s also an incredible human being who has touched hearts and inspired people throughout the Club and all over the world.

“The Europa League triumph in Bilbao was a truly magical moment in the Club’s history and Sonny lifting the trophy is a perfect lasting memory from his fantastic decade at Tottenham Hotspur.

“Sonny has given so much to this Club, both on and off the pitch, and for that we are forever grateful. We wish him all the best for the future, and he will always be welcome back at the Club as a beloved and cherished member of our Spurs family.”

The Korean star will forever remain a legend at Tottenham Hotspur, and his record on the pitch speaks for itself, with Son leaving Spurs’ fifth all-time top scorer, after grabbing 173 goals in 454 appearances.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their search for a new forward this week, as the club looks at Rafael Leao and Rodrygo to inject more firepower into Thomas Frank’s squad following the exit of Heung-min Son.

Heung-min Son only just announced his departure a few days ago, leaving Tottenham Hotspur’s attack a little thin, as a player who guarantees at least 10 goals and assists leaves Thomas Frank’s attack.

To add to Tottenham’s woes, attacking midfielders James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are out injured and could miss significant parts of the new season.

Spurs have not been standing idle in the summer market, as they have completed five signings, but there is still a need for at least one more player in the attack of Thomas Frank’s team.

Tottenham eye AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes

GIVEMESPORT are now reporting that Tottenham are looking to advance on talks to add to their attacking department this summer.

It is believed that Spurs have earmarked AC Milan’s Rafael Leao as a potential target and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes as another option.

It is explained by the outlet that Tottenham’s interest in Leao is genuine, with the Serie A club very much informed about it.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While there is no rush on the Italian side’s end to sell the 26-year-old Portuguese international, the winger’s liking of Joao Palhinha’s post confirming his move to Tottenham, has only added to the speculation.

Tottenham transfers: Rodrygo, Jack Grealish and Garnacho also considered

Leao managed 12 goals and 11 assists last term, which is a little higher than Son’s 11 goals and assists. However, while Tottenham are reported to be showing interest, it is understood that a deal is currently seen as being too expensive and is being played down.

Rodrygo is another option being considered by Tottenham, who are said to be keeping their options wide open.

The Real Madrid star could be available for far cheaper, with some outlets even claiming that a bid has been sent by Tottenham for Rodrygo.

GIVEMESPORT, however, acknowledge Tottenham’s interest, but has revealed that it remains to be seen if it develops into something more serious.
