Atletico Madrid ready monster offer to meet Tottenham’s Cristian Romero price tag - Spurs Web
Description

According to a new report from Spain, Atletico Madrid are prepared to dig deep to meet Tottenham’s asking price for Cristian Romero, with the La Liga club expected to do everything in their power to land the Spurs vice-captain.

Claims that Tottenham had accepted a £55.5m offer from Atletico for Cristian Romero were rubbished earlier this week, but it is clear that the Spanish side have not given up on the centre-back.

While Thomas Frank is very keen on hanging onto Romero, it has been made clear that Diego Simeone is just as desperate to take the Spurs man to the Spanish capital.

It has been claimed by several sources over recent days that Tottenham will not accept anything short of £60m for Romero, and a new update has now suggested that Atletico might be willing to pay that fee.

Atletico will do ‘everything possible’ to land Cristian Romero

AS are now reporting that the Colchoneros are ‘willing to throw the house out of the window’ to land Romero this summer to satisfy Simeone.

The Argentine coach has made it clear that he wants the Tottenham Hotspur man, come what may, and the club’s hierarchy are prepared to push the boat out to please their manager.

The report said that the La Liga side ‘will do almost everything possible to’ push through the deal, and Atletico are now readying a monster offer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Atletico are now willing to pay an initial €55m (£47.5m) plus €15m (£13m) in add-ons, thus bringing the total fee to £60m. It is not revealed whether such an offer would be enough to convince Spurs.

Progress could be made this week on Romero deal

AS say that talks between Spurs and Atletico have been ongoing for a long time now, and the Spanish side are being patient as they know a deal of this magnitude takes time.

Atletico see Romero as the ‘cornerstone’ of their new project and the negotiations for the centre-back ‘will continue to simmer’.

The publications assert that there is a belief that ‘a lot of progress can be made’ this week in the negotiations between the two clubs.

Description

Tottenham are monitoring Castello Lukeba as the club continues to assess centre-back options this summer, with the RB Leipzig defender reportedly attracting interest from across Europe.

Cristian Romero’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains uncertain despite reports claiming that Spurs are looking to offer the Argentine centre-back a new contract.

Regardless of the centre-back’s situation, Tottenham have still gone on to make a new centre-back addition to their squad, signing Kota Takai from the J League this summer for £5 million.

While Takai has received loads of praise from pundits and analysts alike, reports still claim that Tottenham are admiring other centre-back options this summer.

Tottenham show interest in RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba

This report comes from Footmercato, who now states that Tottenham Hotspur are amongst a host of clubs who have shown interest in RB Leipzig’s centre-back Castello Lukeba.

The France under-21 international has impressed since his move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, making over 50 appearances for the German outfit and keeping 11 clean sheets in 23 Bundesliga outings last season.

He was signed as a replacement for Josko Gvardiol following the Croatian’s transfer to former Premier League champions Manchester City and has since made a name for himself in the German top flight.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The defender, who played 31 matches last season, is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool, and is reported to have a €90 million (£76 million) release clause.

Spurs could strike a deal below Castello Lukeba’s release clause

However, despite his steep release clause, it is claimed that he is open to leaving Leipzig this summer and that the Bundesliga side would be willing to sell for less than the buy-out figure.

Footmercato further states that sides looking to negotiate a deal with the player, including Spurs, can do so now that the 22-year-old defender has returned from the under-21 European Championship.

Lukeba is contracted to Leipzig until 2029, but it is believed that it would not be an issue for clubs interested in the French international, who could be on the move this summer.

Cristian Romero could take action as Tottenham stand firm on asking price - Spurs Web
Description

A new report has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have reaffirmed their stance regarding Cristian Romero to Atletico Madrid and the centre-back may be forced to take matters into his own hands.

Over the weekend, some reports from Argentina claimed that Tottenham had accepted a £55.5m offer from Atletico Madrid for Romero.

However, this claim has since been rubbished by many reliable sources, including Alasdair Gold, who revealed that Spurs will only sell Romero for a fee worthy of one of the best centre-backs in the world.

Atletico have reportedly not given up on Romero just yet and a new report has now suggested that the Spurs vice-captain could make the next move amidst the standoff between the two clubs.

Cristian Romero could push for a move as Tottenham remain firm on asking price

In a new report, Football Insider have now revealed that Atletico’s early efforts to prize the World Cup winner away from N17 have been unsuccessful.

The outlet backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent weeks by stating that Tottenham Hotspur are holding firm on their £60m asking price.

It is explained that Romero is seen as a ‘key player’ for Thomas Frank, with the Lilywhites reluctant to lose the centre-back ahead of their return to the Champions League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, worryingly, Football Insider’s sources have said that the 27-year-old could ‘push for a move away’ from Tottenham to get the Lilywhites to lower their asking price.

Are Atletico waiting for Romero to put pressure on Spurs?

It has been reported over recent weeks that Diego Simeone is speaking to Romero every day regarding a switch to Atletico Madrid.

Additionally, a number of Spanish outlets remain adamant that Romero is extremely keen to move to the Metropolitano Stadium, which is seen as the biggest factor working in the La Liga side’s favour.

It thus sounds like the Colchoneros are very much hoping that the centre-back turns up the pressure on the Premier League side to get a favourable deal.

Description

An EFL midfielder, who Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be keen on signing, has now become a target for Crystal Palace, who are looking to complete a discounted deal for the player.

Tottenham are trying to fix their shortage of homegrown players ahead of their return to the Champions League and signing a defensive midfielder is reported to be one of Thomas Frank’s priorities this summer.

That explains why Tottenham are eyeing a move for Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney, who would tick both of those boxes, having emerged as one of the best players in the Championship over the last few seasons.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Spurs were evaluating Hackney’s performances at the UEFA U21 Euros, but it turns out that they now have competition for the 23-year-old’s signature.

Crystal Palace and Tottenham eyeing a move for Hayden Hackney

The Sun have now claimed that Crystal Palace are now considering pushing ahead with a move to sign Hackney as Oliver Glasner looks to reinforce the Eagles’ midfield ahead of the new season.

The report does mention that the Boro youngster has been watched closely by Tottenham Hotspur for over a year but the South London club may be the first ones to advance on the youngster.

It is revealed that Palace are eyeing a £27m double swoop for Hackney and his Dutch team-mate Rav van den Berg, with the Spurs target priced at just £15m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Palace’s scouts were reportedly spotted in several matches during the Under-21 European Championship, where the Boro academy graduate featured four times.

Middlesbrough’s stance on Hackney revealed

The Sun add that the midfielder is also generating interest from the Bundesliga, with Stuttgart keen on acquiring his services. Meanwhile, Portuguese giants Porto have already seen a £9m bid rejected by the Championship side for Hackney.

The outlet explains that new Boro boss Rob Edwards would love to keep the club’s prized asset for the upcoming season.

However, he knows that the cash generated from the Hackney sale would fund moves for his top targets, thus leaving the Riverside Stadium hierarchy with a big decision to make.

Description

Brighton’s young striker Georginio Rutter, who had an impressive first season at the Amex Stadium last term, has posted a very interesting picture of himself on social media donning a Tottenham kit.

Rutter and Archie Gray both left Leeds United last summer after their loss to Southampton in the 2024 Championship play-off final, with both players moving for the same £40m fee. The former joined the Seagulls and the latter made the switch to Spurs.

The pair have both had impressive debut seasons in the Premier League, with the striker scoring eight goals and providing five assists for the South Coast side while Gray managed a total of 46 appearances for Tottenham.

Spurs’ versatile youngster featured in the Europa League final for the Lilywhites and followed up that medal with another one a few days ago, being part of the England side that lifted the European Under-21 Championship.

Georginio Rutter pays tribute to Archie Gray on Instagram

It would appear that the former Leeds pair are quite close, as the Brighton man has posted a very interesting picture on social media.

Rutter shared an image of himself wearing the ‘GRAY 14’ Tottenham third kit on Instagram while on holiday, along with a series of other pictures.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The fact that he chose to wear the shirt of another Premier League club may not go down well with Brighton, but perhaps the Frenchman is just supporting an old friend.

Archie Gray has a point to prove at Tottenham Hotspur

Some Spurs are worried that Gray could not even get into England’s Under-21 side regularly, but in the youngster’s defence, not only were many of the players in the squad older than him, but he has never had an opportunity to settle in one position.

He was used like a Swiss army knife by Ange Postecoglou last season, and hardly got too many opportunities to play as a number six, which was his preferred role at Leeds.

Why Thomas Frank could be the reason behind Tottenham’s lack of transfer urgency - Spurs Web
Description

Some Tottenham fans are getting increasingly impatient at the club’s lack of urgency this summer, but a new report has now suggested that the delay in getting deals over the line might be down to new boss Thomas Frank.

So far, Tottenham Hotspur have only completed the permanent signing of Mathys Tel, who Frank has admitted he is excited to work with.

Another signing is soon expected to be made official, with Japanese defender Kota Takai expected to arrive at Spurs soon in a £5m deal from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale.

However, neither of those moves signals the kind of ambition that Tottenham fans hoped to see from the club ahead of their return to the Champions League, and a new report has now revealed why the Lilywhites are not in a hurry to get big names through the door.

Thomas Frank wants to meet Tottenham players before making transfer decisions

The Times have now claimed that some of the delays in striking deals are down to the change of head coach at Hotspur Way.

The outlet reveals that Frank is keen to meet some of his players in person before making a final decision on their futures.

It stands to reason that the delay in decisions on the potential outgoings is also leading to a delay in finalising Tottenham’s top transfer targets.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet points out Frank welcomes back his non-international players later this week, with the likes of Dominic Solanke and Lucas Bergvall expected to be among the first group to return for pre-season.

Tottenham are prioritising reinforcing two positions

The Times claim that the North Londoners are prioritising signing a central midfielder and a wide-forward at the moment and are currently continuing to explore their options in the market.

The outlet backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent days by stating that Tottenham have cooled their interest in Eberechi Eze.

When Kota Takai will likely join up with the Tottenham Hotspur squad - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham fans have been waiting for over a week for the announcement of Kota Takai’s signing, and there has now been an official communication which suggests a potential date for the Japanese defender’s arrival at Hotspur Way.

Kota Takai is expected to become Tottenham’s second signing of the summer window following the permanent capture of Mathys Tel, with the Lilywhites reportedly striking a £5m deal to sign the young centre-back from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale.

According to reports, Takai has rejected the likes of Udinese, Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim in favour of a move to N17.

The centre-back, who won the J League Young Player of the Year award, is rated very highly in his home country, with Johan Lange reportedly identifying Takai for his comfort in playing on both sides of central defence.

Kota Takai’s Tottenham arrival could be confirmed this week

It has now been over a week since the news of his arrival first broke and with pre-season fast approaching, many Spurs fans have been left wondering what the hold-up is.

They now have an answer as Alasdair Gold has revealed that Kawasaki Frontale have announced that the 20-year-old will be leaving the team on July 5 to begin the process of joining “an overseas club”.

MORE SPURS STORIES

That means that Takai could link up with the Spurs squad at Hotspur Way at the start of next week.

He will be joined by the non-international Tottenham stars, who will be the first ones to report for pre-season training under Thomas Frank later this week.

Spurs fans have reason to be excited about Takai’s arrival

While the youngster is facing a huge step up at Tottenham, he has thrived on the big stage already, including impressing for Japan in their World Cup qualifiers.

Takai also reportedly had Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane in his pocket in the AFC Champions League semifinal back in April.

Tottenham striker target taken off the table along with Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham striker target taken off the table along with Antoine Semenyo - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are about to taste defeat in their pursuit of a prolific striker, just 24 hours after Antoine Semenyo seemingly took himself off the market too.

A rejig of Tottenham’s forward line appears to be on the cards this summer, with reports indicating that Thomas Frank has given Tottenham the go-ahead to sell Richarlison.

If the Brazilian does leave, Spurs will almost certainly enter the market for another striker. The club have already missed out on one of Frank’s top targets, with Bryan Mbeumo snubbing Tottenham in favour of a switch to Man United.

Last week, it was claimed that Spurs had reignited their interest in Jonathan David, who will be leaving Lille on a free transfer after his contract ran out, but the Lilywhites are now about to miss out on the Canadian international as well.

This comes just 24 hours after Tottenham target Antoine Semenyo signed a new Bournemouth contract, effectively taking him off the table for Spurs this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Juventus are close to announcing an agreement with David.

He claims that the Bianconeri have sent a new contract offer to the striker earlier this week, before reaching an agreement on terms on Tuesday night.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist even gave the deal his famous ‘here we go’, taking another Tottenham Hotspur target off the market this summer.

David to Juventus may open the door for Tottenham to sign Kolo Muani

Last week, it was reported by TBR Football that Tottenham remain interested in PSG star Randal Kolo Munai after failing to land him back in January.

The outlet explained that the Frenchman’s preference was to make a permanent switch to Turin following his loan spell at the club, but added that Spurs are ready to pounce if Juve are not able to agree a deal.

Why Mohammed Kudus should not be Tottenham’s number one transfer target

Why Mohammed Kudus should not be Tottenham’s number one transfer target - Spurs Web
Description

Mohammed Kudus is looking increasingly likely to join Tottenham Hotspur, but his performances last season should be a concern.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of attacking players during the summer transfer window and one name that has been repeatedly brought up is West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Spurs are engaging in positive talks to sign Kudus, although two unnamed clubs are also interested.

Kudus is the most likely attacker to join Tottenham, despite Eberechi Eze, Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo all having been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While the West Ham star has a mind-blowing £85m release clause, Tottenham could sign Kudus for £60m, as West Ham need to make a sale due to their PSR issues.

Tottenham are still overpaying for Mohammed Kudus

Of all the wingers and attacking midfielders currently linked with a move to Spurs, Kudus is the least exciting, in my opinion.

The 24-year-old could not even earn the approval of his own supporters last season, and for good reason. He only managed a measly five goals and three assists in 32 Premier League appearances, which does not come close to justifying his price tag.

MORE SPURS STORIES

A BBC Sport article earlier this month revealed some West Ham supporters would be happy to cash in on Kudus. One claimed he was still one of the club’s best players, but others noted his poor displays last season, with a supporter describing his drop-off in performance as ‘astounding’.

There is no doubt that Kudus is a player with some good skills and capabilities. He is strong on the ball and an excellent dribbler. However, he can be poor in the final third, often making questionable decisions, while his passing could use some improvement. He would not be a bad signing at the right price, but that price is not £60m.

Spurs need a reliable and consistent goalscorer

Dominic Solanke has already taken the role of playing well without registering a reasonable number of goal contributions. Spurs need a winger who is going to pose a threat in front of goal, and even in Kudus’ better season at West Ham, he only scored eight times in the league.

Brennan Johnson scored 11 times in Tottenham’s last league campaign. Would Kudus start ahead of him and if not, why would Spurs be willing to pay £60m for him?

The difference between Mbeumo and Kudus is night and day, but the former seemingly does not want to join Spurs. Also, Eze is seemingly keen on a move to Arsenal. Therefore, there is some reason for Tottenham to be interested in Kudus.

However, his performances last season were simply not good enough to warrant Spurs spending a near-record transfer fee. I suppose the question is, if not Kudus, then who?

Eze could end up at Arsenal, Semenyo has signed a new contract, and Bryan Mbuemo seems destined for Manchester United. As usual, Tottenham pay the price for moving slow and moving weak.

Tottenham can raise £60m Mohammed Kudus transfer fee by selling three players

Tottenham can raise £60m Mohammed Kudus transfer fee by selling three players - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham could raise the money needed to fund a move for Mohammed Kudus by selling three fringe players this summer, with £60 million the reported fee that could be enough to convince West Ham to sell.

Tottenham Hotspur are now reported to be going all in on Mohammed Kudus, with reports from Fabrizio Romano stating that the club are looking to accelerate talks with West Ham United.

Tottenham fans are already convinced Kudus would improve their attack should he be signed, with many urging the club to get the deal done for the Hammers winger.

Kudus has an £85 million release clause, but Tottenham are hopeful of landing the Hammers winger for a cut-price deal, with £60 million reported to be enough to prise him away from the London Stadium.

If Daniel Levy and his team are unwilling to inject significant funds into the squad this summer, then player sales could be the easiest route to reaching the £60 million valuation.

We have now highlighted three players Spurs could sell to raise £60 million for Mohammed Kudus this summer.

Tottenham could sell Richarlison to fund half the Mohammed Kudus deal

It is no news that Richarlison’s future at Tottenham is uncertain, as it was revealed a few weeks ago that the forward is considering a move away from Spurs as he is eager to get into the Brazil squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 28-year-old forward has not been short of options, with clubs in Saudi Arabia showing interest in Richarlison, while Fenerbahce are also keen on bringing the Brazilian forward to Turkey.

It was recently reported that Thomas Frank has greenlit Richarlison’s sale and that Spurs are not looking to loan him out, but are instead aiming for a permanent exit.

£20million is the rumoured price Spurs would be looking to demand. However, the Lilywhites could push for a £30million transfer, which, while lower than the £50million they paid for Richarlison, would still help fund a move for Kudus.

Spurs could also sell Manor Solomon for £15 million

Solomon is another sellable asset Tottenham have and one who already has interest from sides in the Premier League, which is ideal.

At the moment, Leeds United are keen on making Solomon’s move back to Elland Road permanent, and a fee in the region of £15million has been rumoured as what the newly promoted side is willing to pay.

If Tottenham can sanction a sale at that price tag, that would bolster their financial pot. £30million from Richarlison and £15million from Solomon would leave Tottenham just £15 million away from the £60 million price tag West Ham have put on Mohammed Kudus.

Yves Bissouma’s inconsistency could see him move for £15 million

Yves Bissouma is one Spurs player with 12 months left on his contract and, given the Malian’s inconsistencies, it remains to be seen if Tottenham would offer him another deal.

Bissouma was inconsistent for most of last season, with the holding midfielder eventually finding himself down the pecking order as Lucas Bergvall replaced him in the starting eleven.

Back in March, crunch talks were reported to have been held with the 28-year-old midfielder, and it was claimed that Tottenham are looking to sell Bissouma.

So far, interest has come from Fenerbahce, who are looking to sign Bissouma this summer, and if Tottenham can sell him for £15million, then they would have successfully raised the £60million needed to sign Kudus from West Ham.
