Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly sniffing around the right-back market, and it seems they have now set their sights on a Serie A defender who is also attracting interest from Barcelona.

Of course, at the moment, one could argue that the right-back position is the least of Tottenham’s worries.

And that’s no surprise, as Tottenham have a handful of options available to them in that area of the pitch, with Djed Spence, Pedro Porro, Archie Gray and even Ben Davies capable of filling in that role.

However, reports now suggest that despite being well stocked in that position, Tottenham have made an enquiry about Fiorentina’s right-back.

Tottenham join Barcelona in race for Fiorentina defender Dodo

According to a report from AS, Spurs are among the clubs keeping tabs on Fiorentina full-back Dodo, with interest picking up ahead of the summer window.

Barcelona are also keen, and in fact, the Catalan giants are believed to have placed the Brazilian at the top of their shortlist as they actively search for a new right-back.

Barca’s sporting director Deco has been scouring the market for potential signings and is said to have drawn up a shortlist with just two names on it – Dodo and Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Ratiu.

Talks have reportedly been held with representatives from both camps.

Spurs keeping tabs despite right-back depth

Tottenham Hotspur aren’t the only ones keeping tabs on Dodo, with Atletico Madrid, Milan and Juventus also making enquiries.

Barcelona remain the favourites, but Fiorentina are open to a bidding war, especially as they value the full-back at around €25m (£21.5m).

While signing a right-back might not be high on Tottenham’s list of priorities, the report insists they’ve asked the question about Dodo and could step up their interest depending on how the market unfolds.

Description

Atletico Madrid are keeping a close eye on developments at Tottenham once again, with a second player now on their radar amid uncertain contract talks.

Atletico Madrid look to be eyeing multiple Tottenham Hotspur players this summer.

It has already been revealed in the last month that Diego Simeone’s men have eyes on Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, whose contract negotiations are currently on hold.

It was stated that the Spanish side have even gone as far as holding discussions with the Argentine defender’s representatives over a potential switch.

Atletico Madrid add Rodrigo Bentancur to Tottenham watchlist

Now, fresh reports from The Mirror reveal that Romero is not the only Tottenham player Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs on this summer.

It’s now being reported that midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has also been added to the club’s shortlist, as they continue to assess options for their midfield.

Bentancur, like Romero, has his contract situation up in the air, with his current deal set to expire next year. However, it’s understood that Tottenham have started holding talks over a new deal for Bentancur.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Atletico Madrid are said to be in the market for a midfielder this summer, and Bentancur is a player Diego Simeone is known to admire.

Bentancur’s form could play a role in Spurs’ summer plans

Of course, there’s bound to be a couple of changes at Tottenham this summer and many of those decisions could rest on a number of factors.

Right now, the future of the Tottenham boss remains uncertain, and a lot of the club’s transfer plans could hinge on who ends up in charge next season.

Bentancur has started to rediscover his rhythm, and his performances against Frankfurt have offered encouragement – he’s beginning to look like the player Spurs fans know he can be when fully fit.

With Atletico Madrid sniffing around, Tottenham would have to make a decision on Bentancur, as he looks like he still has plenty to offer.

Tottenham fans praise Europa League semi-final ticket prices for Bodo/Glimt clash - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans are finally nodding in agreement with the club’s decision-making, after ticket prices for the Europa League semi-final were confirmed – and to many, it’s a fair call.

Tottenham Hotspur have booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals, having edged past Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.

A composed penalty from Dominic Solanke sealed the victory for Ange Postecoglou’s side, setting up a showdown with Norwegian outfit BODO/Glimt in the last four.

The first leg is scheduled for 1 May 2025 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, before Spurs travel to Norway for the return fixture on 8 May.

Tottenham vs BODO/Glimt ticket prices delight fans

The ticket pricing for the upcoming clash has now been confirmed by the club via their official website.

According to the announcement, the BODO/Glimt fixture has been classified as a Category C game.

Supporters have largely welcomed the pricing decision, with many taking to social media to express their approval and relief.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Good call, fair play,” said one fan. Another added, “Cat C?? Fair play for once.” The sentiment continued: “Fantastic choice making it Cat C – pack the stadium.” One more chimed in: “Finally, they’ve read the room! Need a sell-out for this.”

There were more nods of approval: “Good to see the club not pricing out fans for an important match, for once in a while,” another fan stated: “Cat C pricing for a semi-final is good. If only every day was like the last 24 hours.”

Even Daniel Levy got a rare bit of praise: “Well done Levy, you’ve done something good for once.”

Spurs must use home advantage against BODO/Glimt

Spurs need to make the most of the home leg in this semi-final. BODO/Glimt aren’t here to make up the numbers – they knocked out Lazio in the previous round and are more than capable of causing problems.

A convincing win in North London would ease the pressure before heading to Norway, where conditions and travel could come into play.

If Tottenham want to keep their European dreams alive, they’ll need to strike early, control the tempo, and ensure they aren’t left chasing the tie in the second leg.

Interesting update emerges on Tottenham Hotspur stadium naming rights search

Interesting update emerges on Tottenham Hotspur stadium naming rights search - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are still very much continuing to search for a new naming rights partner for their stadium, with the North London club hoping that their recent announcement paves the way in helping them land a deal.

It has now been nearly six years since Spurs moved into their new stadium, but the club are yet to secure a naming rights partner so far, with the venue continuing to be called by its generic name: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Reports over recent months have claimed that Tottenham have had conversations with Amazon, Google, and DHL regarding a long-term deal.

Some sources have even claimed that Daniel Levy has already rejected multiple naming rights offers, with the Spurs chairman said to be holding out for a lucrative agreement.

What is the latest on Tottenham’s search for a naming rights deal?

TBR Football have said that despite the lack of news regarding the naming rights agreement, Tottenham’s search for a naming rights partner is not on ice at the moment and is continuing to go on unabated.

The outlet suggests that the appointment of Vinai Venkatesham as Spurs CEO could expedite the process, with finding a naming rights partner expected to be one of the 44-year-old’s top priorities when he joins the club this summer

The publication backs up what we have heard from other sources by suggesting the Tottenham hierarchy are holding out for £200m for a 10-year-plus deal.

Spurs may struggle to find a stadium naming rights partner

TBR Football also spoke to Football Finance expert Kieran Maguire on Spurs’ attempts to find an agreement, but the University of Liverpool football finance lecturer believes that Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy have their work cut out to find someone who is willing to meet their valuation.

He explained that, given the uncertain economic environment that US businesses are now facing, many of them would hesitate to commit to a deal as big as the one Spurs want.

Maguire said: “In terms of the naming rights, my understanding is that a few potential sponsors have had their fingers burnt by Spurs. They thought they were making progress, only for it to be snatched away at the last minute. Levy will always try to extract maximum value for Spurs, but that can have a reverse impact when the deals ultimately aren’t signed off.

“We are operating in a very uncertain global economic environment, and I wonder if some potential naming rights partners might decide to wait and see. Until things start to crystallise with the United States government’s policies, they might be reluctant to spend money on something which some people might regard as frivolous, i.e., a naming rights deal.

“I’m not convinced that any potential American partners would want to go ahead with a deal at this moment in time. Tariffs wouldn’t be an issue per se, as it is money being spent in the UK but it’s more about whether a company itself might be suffering. Many US companies are suffering because they use global supply chains.

“The profits are kept in the US but can be hit by the costs of materials, labour and overheads might increase. Equally, American consumers might take a dim view of a US company sponsoring a British sports entity in Spurs given that there is an effort to decouple their respective economies.”

Description

Marcel Desailly and Mickael Silvestre have both waxed lyrical about a former Tottenham Hotspur striker, with Silvestre even naming him as the toughest opponent he ever faced.

Tottenham Hotspur have been blessed with some world-class strikers over the course of their history, including in the Premier League era.

While fans of a certain age will remember the likes of Jimmy Greaves and Martin Chivers, more recent generations have had the fortune of witnessing the likes of Teddy Sheringham, Gary Lineker, Jurgen Klinsmann, Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov, Jermain Defoe and many other great number nines grace the White Hart Lane pitch.

That legacy has carried all the way to the modern day, with Harry Kane becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer a few years ago, and Tottenham fans will be hoping that Dominic Solanke carries on that legacy.

Marcel Desailly and Mickael Silvestre ‘suffered’ against Tottenham star

Desailly and Silvestre have both played against some of the very best strikers in world football, both at club level and internationally, but the pair picked a former Tottenham man as one of the hardest that they have faced.

The player they are referring to is Les Ferdinand, who led the line impressively at White Hart Lane from 1998 to 2003, scoring 33 times for the club in 118 appearances.

Silvestre talked about the Tottenham star on the Tales, Tears and Trophies podcast: “I’ve read somewhere, I’m taking you back to Chelsea. The toughest opponent for you was Alan Shearer. In the same bracket for me, same as being not as dominant in the air. I’m not the tallest anyway, but I suffered a lot against Les Ferdinand.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Desailly responded: “Ooh, Les Ferdinand,” and Silvestre quipped back: “That was another big player, yeah?”

The former Chelsea centre-back then concluded: “Yes, also, yeah. He had good timing. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I even have some little scar. I’m sure if we look very… Oh, yes, with his elbow. Wow. Les Ferdinand, less dirty, but amazing quality of player, yeah.”

Les Ferdinand is more impressive than his numbers suggest

Ferdinand is perhaps not held in the same esteem by some Spurs fans as some of the other great strikers who wore the Tottenham colours over the last few decades.

The 58-year-old played his best football for Newcastle United and never managed to hit the same heights in his five seasons at Tottenham.

However, he was a brilliant all-round centre-forward, who not only made the life of opposition centre-backs difficult but also proved a good foil for the likes of Klinsmann.

Tottenham told to avoid Burnley, Everton, and Bournemouth this summer for one key reason

Tottenham told to avoid Burnley, Everton, and Bournemouth this summer for one key reason - Spurs Web
Description

Jamie O’Hara has pinpointed where Tottenham Hotspur have gone wrong with their recruitment over recent years and has advised his club to change one aspect of their transfer policy if they want to compete near the top end of the Premier League again.

Under Ange Postecoglou and Johan Lange, Spurs have prioritised signing young, up-and-coming talent rather than finished products.

While it is hard to argue that the policy has not worked, given the progress that the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert have made, the lack of experience in their squad has come back to haunt the Lilywhites at times this season, especially when they were missing key players due to injury.

Tottenham may not be able to finalise their transfer plans just yet as we still do not know who will be the Spurs head coach in the summer, but O’Hara believes that one aspect of the club’s recruitment strategy has to change, no matter who is in charge.

Jamie O’Hara urges Tottenham to follow Aston Villa’s example

O’Hara pointed out that even when Tottenham spend big on certain players, they do not do so on ones with experience of playing at the highest level and winning trophies.

The pundit suggested that Spurs should be doing more of their shopping from top European sides rather than from the likes of Bournemouth if they are to turn things around next season.

O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport: “When was the last time Tottenham signed someone from a top club? Spurs are signing players from Burnley, Everton and Bournemouth. I mean no disrespect, but these clubs aren’t usually associated with challenging for European football. I know Bournemouth are doing well this season, but they finished in the bottom half last year.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It’s no surprise that Spurs are near the bottom of the Premier League when they’ve signed players from teams that compete in the lower end of the table. They need to sign players from clubs in the Champions League; sign players like Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, which is what Aston Villa have done.”

“You might be the best player at Bournemouth, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be the best player at Tottenham. They’ve had players in the past like Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane – this calibre of player isn’t found at Spurs anymore.”

Spurs squad is crying out for experience

There is no doubt that this Spurs squad has a lot of world-class young talent, and they could achieve some big things with a little sprinkling of experienced heads.

O’Hara is right in identifying the lack of experienced winners as an issue, but you do not always need to sign players from big clubs to solve that issue. In fact, O’Hara names Berbatov, who Spurs signed from Bayer Leverkusen and Robbie Keane, who they got from Leeds.

Description

Chris Sutton believes that Nottingham Forest have the tools to hurt Tottenham Hotspur on the counterattack and has given an interesting prediction about Monday evening’s fixture.

The Tottenham players will still be riding high from their win over Eintracht Frankfurt away from home, a result which was enough to take them into the Europa League semifinals.

Some Spurs stars have already spoken about going all the way and lifting the trophy in Bilbao, but they will now have to shift focus to what is going to be a tough Premier League assignment on Monday night.

High-flying Nottingham Forest will visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Nuno Espirito Santo looking to do the double over the side who unceremoniously sacked him back in 2021.

Chris Sutton predicts result of Tottenham v Nottingham Forest

Sutton believes that we might see a repeat of the reverse clash at the City Ground earlier this season, with Tottenham dominating possession and the Midlands side posing a threat on the counterattack.

The former Celtic striker suggested that the home side need to be wary of the pace that Forest have, and he predicted that the two sides will share the spoils on Monday.

Sutton told BBC Sport: “Tottenham getting past Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League to reach the semi-finals means their stadium will be absolutely buzzing with relief and jubilation.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But Nottingham Forest are the counter-attack kings and they have the tools to get another win like the one they got over Spurs at the City Ground in December, where they had 30% of possession and still won 1-0. Forest have hit a bit of a blip of late, though, and they don’t appear to be quite the same force they were a few weeks ago.

“They are desperate for a win to get their top-five bid back on track, and Nuno Espirito Santo would love to get it on his return to Tottenham Hotspur, where he did not last long as manager, but a draw feels more likely to me.”

Score prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Tottenham could be without two senior players for Forest clash

While long-term absentee Radu Dragusin remains sidelined, they have now been joined at the injury table by two experienced heads, Heung-min Son and James Maddison.

While Son has been ruled out of the upcoming fixture, Ange Postecoglou has said that Maddison is unlikely to feature on Monday after being forced off with an injury in the first half at Deutsche Bank Park.

One would not be surprised to see the Australian ring the changes against Forest as he tries to keep his key men wrapped in cotton wool for the semifinals.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur return to North London for domestic duties to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Easter Monday night.

It’s back to Premier League action for Ange Postecoglou‘s men, who were given a day off following their emphatic 1-0 win away against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, a result that kept their silverware hopes alive for the season.

What time does Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest kick off?

Location: London, England

Stadium: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Date: Monday 21st April 2025

Kick-off Time: 8 pm BST

Referee: Peter Bankes

VAR: John Brooks

How both teams go into Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest

Against all odds, Tottenham Hotspur have secured a spot in the Europa League semi-finals after their 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt (2-1 on aggregate), thanks to a first-half penalty from Dominic Solanke. It was a spirited performance and a rare positive amidst their frustrating domestic campaign.

The Premier League, however, remains low on their list of priorities, with Spurs simply aiming to avoid an embarrassing bottom-half finish. Before their win in Germany, they suffered a 4-2 defeat to Wolves; largely due to individual errors. They’ve taken just four points from their last five league games, with one win, one draw and three defeats.

Ten places and 20 points above Spurs sit Nottingham Forest, enjoying a dream season under ex-Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo. Forest were in the top four until recently but have now suffered back-to-back defeats to Aston Villa (2-1) and Everton (1-0). They’re currently experiencing a dip in their otherwise remarkable season, with a trip to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City looming. They still firmly remain in the hunt for a top-five finish and Champions League football.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs head-to-head record vs Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest always used to be something of a ‘free three points’ for Spurs – until Nuno Santo had a point to prove. The reverse fixture this season ended in a 1-0 defeat for Tottenham, their first Premier League loss to Forest since their promotion in 2022. There’s also one other defeat in all competitions; back in the Carabao Cup in 2022. However, Forest are yet to win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Forest were 1-0 winners at the City Ground on Boxing Day thanks to Anthony Elanga’s strike. That was their first Premier League win over Spurs since 1997. That victory also ended a six-match losing streak against Tottenham in the top flight. The last time Forest did the league double over Spurs? All the way back in the 1996-97 season. That will be something Ange and Co will certainly want to avoid. (BBC Sport)

Tottenham team news

The trend continues for Spurs. Against Frankfurt, it was James Maddison, who suffered a hip injury that won the penalty and ultimately the tie. But the win might have come at the cost of one of their most creative players. So he remains a doubt for this fixture.

Heung-Min Son missed the 2nd leg of the Europa League quarter-final win with a foot injury, and Postecoglou confirmed he remains unavailable for Monday.

Radu Dragusin remains sidelined, while Dejan Kulusevski and Kevin Danso both featured from the bench in Germany.

Nottingham Forest team news

Forest are expected to be without Ola Aina (calf) and Taiwo Awoniyi (hamstring), both of whom picked up knocks in their win over Manchester United and have missed the last two games.

Predicted Tottenham line-up

Vicario, Gray, Danso, Davies, Spence, Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur, Tel, Richarlison, Johnson

Ange Postecoglou revealed he will make “five or six changes” against Forest and that part of the challenge is managing rotation. He added, “The rest of the group worked hard, so they’re a bit sore but should be okay for Monday night.”

That makes it tricky to know whose nursing knocks and who’s still not quite ready. He also made strange substitutions in their last match (Kevin Danso for Brennan Johnson), which gives very little away.

While the back four from the Frankfurt game is likely to change completely, Pedro Porro and Cristian Romero could retain their spots over Archie Gray and Ben Davies. Gray may move into midfield alongside Sarr as Maddison is unlikely to be risked. Bergvall and Bentancur ran their socks off in Frankfurt and may be rotated.

There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding Wilson Odobert, who was in the matchday squad against Frankfurt but didn’t get on. If he’s fit, he should start over Johnson.

Solanke got a confidence boost with his penalty goal, but Ange may prefer Richarlison to lead the line. Richarlison could also feature out wide, depending on Solanke’s fitness. As for Timo Werner? No clue where he is. Mikey Moore? Who says no?

Players to watch out for

Richarlison: He knows he’s not a benchwarmer, but injuries have kept him sidelined for long spells of this season. Still, his passion for the team is evident; he celebrated more wildly from the bench than anyone on the pitch after the Frankfurt win. Ange will definitely not rule out the idea of starting him over Solanke against Bodo/Glimt based on this performance.

Djed Spence: It’s unfortunate how quickly he’s fallen off the radar after Udogie returned. He scored an own goal vs Wolves and didn’t feature at all in Frankfurt. If he impresses here, he could make a strong case for the Europa League semi-final. Despite only 14 starts, he’s already got five goal contributions.

Anthony Elanga: No Van de Ven, no party. Elanga is Forest’s only real mover in a static low block and ranks fifth for top speed in the league (36.2 km/h) behind Van de Ven (37.1 km/h). A big test for Spence here. (Premier League)

Chris Wood: Nottingham Forest have, very evidently struggled without their top scorer, who missed out after the international break. He returned to the pitch against Everton but had a quiet outing. We all know that wasn’t the real him, and he’ll be looking to add to his tally of 18 goals and push for third spot in the Premier League scoring charts this season.

Our prediction

It’s not all that surprising how quickly the tide turned from Ange Outers to Ange Inners after his defensive masterclass against Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg. A big reason for that is Ange finally realising that some games have to be won the ugly way. Something Nuno Santo knows a thing or two about, and what his Forest side have been doing all season.

They’re an absolute nuisance to play against. Expect a scrappy, dull affair, with Spurs dominating possession and playing around the wide areas, while Forest sit in an annoyingly effective low block; dirty but disciplined.

A hard-fought 1-1 draw screams loud, but given Spurs’ home form and their head-to-head record, we’ll go for a narrow win.

Why Tottenham should be wary of Bødo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals

Why Tottenham should be wary of Bødo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are facing the lesser-known Bødo/Glimt in the semi-final of the Europa League, but underestimating their opponents would be a grave error.

Tottenham are in the Europa League semi-finals after achieving a result which seemed aspirational before their showdown in Frankfurt. Spurs handed the Bundesliga high-flyers a first European home defeat this season thanks to a Dominic Solanke penalty and some last-ditch defending in the dying minutes.

Although this was only one match, it has restored the hope of many supporters that Tottenham could end a 16-year wait for silverware. That hope has become even stronger since Bødo/Glimt knocked out Serie A outfit Lazio in a penalty shootout.

However, Spurs should be wary of Bødo/Glimt. The Norwegian champions have earned their right to make it to the final four, picking up some impressive results along the way, particularly at home. This has included wins over Porto, Braga and Besiktas, amongst others.

Ange Postecoglou has previously been defeated by Bødo/Glimt

Despite only spending a few years of his managerial career in Europe, Ange Postecoglou has already faced off against Tottenham’s upcoming opponents Bødo/Glimt – and it did not end well.

Bødo/Glimt picked up a 3-1 win against Celtic in the Aussie’s first campaign in charge of the Scottish Premiership heavyweights. This was despite the fact that Celtic dominated the game’s statistics.

The second leg caused further disappointment as Bødo/Glimt won 2-0, completing an unexpected 5-1 victory on aggregate in the Conference League. This caused Celtic supporters to claim Postecoglou had been outclassed by Norwegian manager Kjetil Knutsen.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After Postecoglou’s departure, some Bhoys’ fans even wanted the club to appoint Knutsen as his replacement. This was unsurprising considering the many positive results Bødo/Glimt recorded in their first couple of years in European competitions, including putting six past Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Kjetil Knutsen represents what Ange Postecoglou used to be

Spurs have slowed down from the ‘Angeball’ their supporters originally fell in love with, but Bødo/Glimt’s style of play may remind supporters of his earlier days at the club. The two are not identical, but their philosophies are very similar.

Like Postecoglou, Knutsen favours a 4-3-3 formation with a focus on maintaining possession. He is known for his attractive, attacking football and this is reflected by his team’s performances in this season’s Europa League.

Movement is a key area where Bødo/Glimt and Tottenham are strikingly different. While Spurs cover 28.5km on average per match, their next European opponents average 99km per match. Their raw pace and constant desire could pose a threat to a Tottenham team who have often looked unimaginative and predictable this season.

Bødo/Glimt attacking threats should concern Tottenham

Tottenham and Bødo/Glimt share some similar statistics in Europe, such as possession and passing accuracy. However, the two differ on goals. Tottenham clearly have the stronger defence, conceding 12 goals compared with Bødo/Glimt’s 20. However, the Eliteserien champions have found the back of the net 27 times, which is five more than the Lilywhites.

Bødo/Glimt did narrowly miss out on automatic qualification to the last 16, meaning they have played two additional fixtures in the tournament. This would appear to cancel out the point that they have scored more goals, however, Tottenham’s next opponents have a clear attacking threat in Kasper Høgh.

The striker is the joint top scorer in the Europa League with seven goals. Heung-min-Son, Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson are the top scorers for Spurs in the competition, but they have only netted three times. This indicates Tottenham lack individual quality in attack, further backed by the fact they only made it past Frankfurt because of a spot kick.

One good result does not define a poor Tottenham side ahead of Bødo/Glimt semi-final

Ultimately, Spurs have been dreadful this season. Sitting 15th in the Premier League table ought to be a sackable offence, and one solid performance against Frankfurt does not right the many wrongs of the season so far.

Any supporter feeling confident that Spurs now have an easy route to the final is about to be in for an unpleasant surprise. Bødo/Glimt have obvious threats and Tottenham will have to put in two more strong performances in order to make it to the Europa League final in Bilbao.

Dele Alli’s dream five-a-side team features four Tottenham Hotspur legends - Spurs Web
Description

Dele Alli has been asked to choose an ideal five-a-side team from the players he played with over the course of his career, and the team is dominated by his former Tottenham teammates.

Dele was a key part of the Mauricio Pochettino revolution at Tottenham Hotspur, with the attacking midfielder being part of a Spurs side stacked with world-class talent.

The team came close to winning the biggest honours in the game, and one can argue that it is among the best sides ever assembled to have not won silverware.

The midfielder, who is now looking to get his career back on track at Como, understandably has fond memories of his time at N17 and the players he shared a dressing room with, naming several of them in his dream side.

Dele Alli names dream five-a-side team of former teammates

The 29-year-old has played with some big names for England, but he chose to name four of his former Tottenham teammates in his dream five-a-side team.

Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele and Harry Kane were the four Spurs representatives, while the midfielder also named one of his former Three Lions teammates to round out the side.

When asked to pick a five-a-side team consisting of former teammates, Dele told TuttoMercatoWeb: “I put Hugo Lloris in goal. In defence, Kyle Walker. Mousa Dembélé must be there. Harry Kane.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It’s becoming a Tottenham team, isn’t it? Only one is missing, who do I put in? I would say Jadon Sancho. He grew up playing football in the street like me. He would be the perfect addition to the team.”

Two surprising Tottenham omissions in Dele’s side

One can understand why Dele named Kyle Walker as his defender, given the former Spurs man’s recovery pace.

However, many will feel that Jan Vertonghen may be more deserving of a place, given his ability on the ball and the consistency he showed across his time in the Premier League.
