Description

Theo Walcott has admitted that he is a huge fan of an English winger who Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be determined to win the race for this summer, likening the youngster to a former Spurs legend as well as a current Premier League great.

It looks clear that Tyler Dibling is set to be one of the most sought-after players of the summer transfer window, now that Southampton’s relegation to the Championship has been confirmed.

The 19-year-old has tormented defences with his wide play all season and unsurprisingly, he is thought to be on the radars of several top sides.

This includes the Lilywhites, with a number of outlets claiming that Tottenham have already held talks with Tyler Dibling.

In fact, some sources have even stated that the Southampton winger is Spurs’ number one target and that Daniel Levy has made it his personal mission to win the race for Dibling.

Theo Walcott makes Dibling comparison with Paul Gascoigne

It remains to be seen if Spurs will be able to get a deal for the Southampton man over the line, but Walcott is certainly a big fan of the winger.

The former Arsenal man, who himself came through the Saints youth set-up, admitted that the teenager reminds him of the likes of Tottenham legend Paul Gascoigne and Man City star Jack Grealish.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Walcott said about Dibling on the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “Do you know what, he’s the closest to a Gascoigne type or a Grealish type.

“He doesn’t just like to go forward, he likes to track back, the things I would despise, to be honest. He’ll probably end up getting a move sadly, but it’s the sign of an academy that has produced some really good players.”

Tottenham face an uphill task to land Tyler Dibling

While the media rumours were talking up Spurs’ chances of winning the race for the Southampton man until recently, the situation appears to have changed over the last few days.

Earlier this week, it was reported by Florian Plettenberg that Tottenham are now considered ‘outsiders’ in the race for Dibling.

The journalist explained that this was because Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig had entered the race for the 19-year-old, who is thought to be open to moving to Germany.

Description

A fresh report has provided the latest on Tottenham’s managerial search, with the North London club’s hierarchy thought to have discussed a potential move for a Premier League manager ahead of the summer.

Those who have been following Spurs Web’s coverage will be aware that Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, and Thomas Frank are among the names on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Ange Postecoglou.

However, over recent days, we have seen reports that Iraola is now leaning towards remaining at Bournemouth for one more season, which comes as a blow to the Lilywhites.

Meanwhile, it has also been claimed by a few sources that Fulham are not willing to let Silva go without a fight, with the Cottagers looking to tie him down to a new contract.

Tottenham have held conversations over Thomas Frank

GiveMeSport now provide the latest on Spurs’ pursuit of Thomas Frank as the club start doing groundwork on potential candidates to replace Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

The outlet says that Frank’s vast experience in the Premier League is a huge tick in his favour as the Lilywhites assess their options.

In fact, it is said that Daniel Levy and other influential figures at Tottenham have discussed the Brentford boss’s name behind the scenes as they contemplate whether to make a move for him.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The publication points out that Frank has a £9m release clause in his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, meaning that the Bees would not be able to stop the 51-year-old from leaving if Spurs up the ante.

However, with Ange Postecoglou leading Tottenham to a Europa League semi-final, one would expect Levy to stick with the Australian now, at least until the end of the season.

Tottenham have changed their mind about Oliver Glasner

While Iraola, Silva and Frank have been the names most regularly linked with a Tottenham job, another Premier League manager’s name has now cropped up in a number of reports over the last few days.

It has been claimed by several sources that Spurs are now considering a move for Oliver Glasner after previously overlooking him in 2023.

Ange Postecoglou appears to confirm his Tottenham Hotspur job is safe - Spurs Web
Description

Ange Postecoglou was in a defiant mood after guiding Tottenham Hotspur to a Europa League semifinal, with the Australian making a very interesting comment about his own future in the post-match press conference.

Spurs dug deep and delivered a performance which was full of fight and character to return with a 1-0 win from Eintracht Frankfurt, which was enough to seal the progression to the final four at the Bundesliga side’s expense.

Heading into the game, the Tottenham boss was under immense pressure as it was widely reported that Postecoglou could be sacked immediately if Spurs exited the Europa League.

It was clear from the celebrations of the 59-year-old and his staff after the full-time whistle just what the win meant, and the Spurs boss was certainly not going to take things lying down in the post-match press conference after his future had been repeatedly put under the scanner.

Ange Postecoglou appears to confirm Tottenham stay… for now

It remains to be seen how long the former Celtic boss will last in the hot seat, as reports indicate that a managerial change is likely at Tottenham this summer.

However, Postecoglou lives to fight another day for the time being and has moved one step closer to becoming the first Tottenham manager since Juande Ramos to win a trophy at the club.

The Spurs boss said after his side’s 1-0 win at Deutsche Bank Park (via ESPN): “Unfortunately, you guys are going to have to put up with me for just a little bit longer. I’m delighted with many things. I’m super proud of the lads — away from home in a quarterfinal against a very good side.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“We needed to score tonight and show the quality we have and to a man, they were outstanding in such a big game. We’ve earned the right to be in the semi.

“I’m the same manager today that I was yesterday, so if anyone thinks I’m a better coach, I don’t care. It doesn’t affect what I do. Do the players believe in me and do the staff believe in me, that’s all that matters.”

Is Spurs’ name written on the Europa League trophy?

Not only did Spurs manage to eliminate one of the strongest teams remaining in the competition in Eintracht Frankfurt, but the semifinal draw has also been very kind to Tottenham.

They now have a huge opportunity to seal their place in the final in Bilbao, and given all the struggles the team has endured this season, lifting the trophy will be extremely sweet indeed.

Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong at Spurs this season, which is why the players might start believing that the trophy has their name on it.

Tottenham discover Europa League semi-final opponents after Frankfurt win - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now found out their Europa League semi-final opponent, after securing a 1-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League adventure continues as the Lilywhites saw off Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs in the quarter-finals of the competition.

A Dominic Solanke penalty was more than enough to seal a victory at the Deutsche Bank Park, a ground that was very loud on the night.

The win definitely earns Ange Postecoglou a few more weeks in the Spurs dugout, as in his own words, he now has the chance to do something special.

Tottenham to face Bodo/Glimt in Europa League semi-final

Tottenham’s path to the Europa League final has been revealed, and with the north London club now having to play two more games before a potential final in Bilbao, fans can now begin to dream.

However, it’s not going to be straightforward, as Spurs now know exactly who awaits them in the semi-finals.

Heading into their clash this Thursday, it looked nailed on that Bodo/Glimt would make it through to the semis, holding a 2-0 advantage over Lazio.

MORE SPURS STORIES

But things took a turn. Lazio clawed their way back, forced penalties, but ultimately fell short, as Bodo/Glimt secured their spot in the final four.

On 1 May 2025, Tottenham will welcome the Norwegian side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first leg of their semi-final tie, before Ange Postecoglou’s men head to Norway for the return leg on 8 May 2025.

Spurs momentum building ahead of crucial Bodo/Glimt tie

Of course, the Europa League is Tottenham’s saving grace for the remainder of the season. The players have managed to put smiles on the faces of fans, particularly after their impressive display against Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of the quarter-final.

The hope is that they can carry that same momentum into their semi-final clash, keeping the belief alive.

No doubt, it’s been a tough campaign in many ways, but a strong finish in Europe could change the narrative entirely.

What looked like another forgettable season could now become something worth remembering – but it all hinges on getting past Bodo/Glimt.

Five things we learned from Tottenham’s heroic Europa League quarter-final victory

Five things we learned from Tottenham’s heroic Europa League quarter-final victory - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are through to the semi-finals of the Europa League after a hard-fought 1-0 away victory in Frankfurt saw them claim a 2-1 aggregate win.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned from Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 Tottenham:

Europa League semi-finalists!

Tottenham fans have had little to cheer about of late, so let’s say it again. Tottenham Hotspur are Europa League semi-finalists! There was plenty of doom and gloom heading into the away game in Frankfurt, with Spurs in poor form and Eintracht so strong at home, but Ange Postecoglou and co overcame the odds. With Tottenham’s season at risk of dying in the torrential German rain, the Lilywhites so marching on into the final four, with hopes of ending their long, long trophy drought still alive.

Tottenham looked absolutely locked in

I know it often feels like lazy analysis, but Tottenham looked like they wanted it tonight. That has not always been the case this season. In fact, it has been the complete opposite of late. Spurs have been going through the motions for the past two months, with some lazy defending and unimaginative attack. Tonight, Tottenham were a team. They looked brave and together and determined.

James Maddison took a whack for the club. Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven threw their bodies on the line time and time again. Dominic Solanke ran his legs into the ground. Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur covered every blade of grass. Guglielmo Vicario made up for his Wolves blunders with a huge save. Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie offered the perfect blend of attack vs structure and defence. Even Mathys Tel and Brennan Johnson, who didn’t have too much joy going forward, put in such a shift the other way.

It begs the question, where has this level of desire and determination been, but boy are we glad to see it when it counts!

Ange Postecoglou deserves a lot of credit

Postecoglou has been criticised a lot over the last two months – and rightly so at times – but you have to be willing to hand out credit when it’s deserved too. The stick he has often been beaten with this season is that he is too proud to deviate from his high-risk, high-line Ange-ball, no matter the circumstances.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tonight, Postecoglou understood the context of the game and the pressure of knockout football and set up a far more sensible system. Spurs still got the ball down and played at times, but they also weren’t afraid to go long, hit the channels, and park the bus when needed. It might not be pretty, but that’s what knockout football is all about. You won’t lift the Europa League trophy without winning a couple of games ugly. Well done, Ange!

Dominic Solanke ends his Tottenham goal drought

Solanke started up front for Tottenham tonight in their biggest game of the season off the back of 11 games without a goal. That is not ideal for any striker. I can’t imagine the pressure Solanke must have felt standing over that penalty in the midst of a goal drought, at the pivotal point of such a gargantuan game. Despite first-choice penalty taker Heung-min Son being back in London, Dom stepped up and dispatched it coolly down the middle, ultimately earning the win and the semi-final qualification.

Forget his goal for a moment, though. Solanke ran through brick walls for every single Tottenham fan watching tonight. He pressed every ball in defence. He ran every channel. He tracked back to help the team at every opportunity. Not a lot of modern-day strikers will give you that kind of intense physical effort across 90 minutes, and Tottenham should feel lucky to have him.

Return of the back four

Believe it or not, that was just the second time Tottenham have been able to field a back four of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie since December 8. That’s how bad the injury crisis has been this season. It’s no coincidence that we just watched one of the most controlled defensive performances all year from the Spurs back line, which resulted in a clean sheet. Even Kevin Danso came off the bench and looked really strong as the Lilywhites switched to a back five in the dying minutes. One could also argue that Djed Spence was unlucky not to miss out.

Tottenham first-half player ratings vs Eintracht Frankfurt – 7.5/10 star leads the charge - Spurs Web
Description

The half-time whistle has sounded in Germany, signalling the end of the opening forty-five minutes in the Europa League clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Tottenham Hotspur – and it’s now time for our first-half player ratings.

After a poor showing on Sunday afternoon against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur are back in Europa League action for their crucial second-leg quarter-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ange Postecoglou and his players would be hoping to secure a victory at the Deutsche Bank Park Stadium, as a win would keep their hopes of ending Spurs’ 17-year-long trophy drought alive.

Throughout the first half, we analysed each player’s individual performance, rating them on a scale of 1-10. Let’s take a look at our Tottenham player ratings…

Tottenham’s first-half player ratings vs Frankfurt

Guglielmo Vicario: Much better this time from Vicario, who has kept it neat and tidy with his passing – he’s not taking any risks and that is much better than Sunday. He hasn’t been called into any serious action just yet. 6.

Pedro Porro: It’s clear that Tottenham are picking their moments in this game. Porro is very conservative and is barely making overlapping runs; instead, he’s inverting into midfield. He’s been solid defensively and has looked to play long balls from deep – none of which have come off just yet. 6.

Cristian Romero: Romero has tried to play those telling balls from deep, aiming to start attacks and be more direct – it’s positive play from the Argentine. No mistakes so far, a welcome bonus. 6.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Micky van de Ven: We’ve already seen why he’s such a big part of this Tottenham team – his recovery pace prevented Hugo Ekitike from going through on goal. He’s also been solid when dealing with crosses from Frankfurt. He’s made a difference in defence. 7.

Destiny Udogie: A few overlapping runs from Udogie, and he did have one moment where he was released and allowed to get forward – his cutback, though, didn’t find anyone in the box. 6.

Lucas Bergvall: The midfield is where the game is going to be won, and that battle is an interesting one. So far, it’s been 50/50, and Bergvall is a big part of Tottenham’s engine room. 6.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Bentancur has been quiet but very solid. He’s had to cover for Udogie a few times when the full-back has been caught out of position. The Uruguayan has also been tidy with the ball at his feet, playing passes that keeps the team ticking. 7.5.

James Maddison: At times, he seemed anonymous in this game. However, the few times he had the ball at his feet, he tried to make things happen, and his clever run into the box saw him win a penalty late in the first half. The penalty did come at a cost, as Maddison had to be subbed off after a collision with the Frankfurt goalkeeper. 7.

Brennan Johnson: In that opening forty-five, we saw flashes of Johnson’s pace as he carried the ball from deep and delivered a cutback that found Tel – but the young wide man scuffed his effort. 5.

Dominic Solanke: No goals yet, but there’s loads of desire and energy in his game tonight. He’s going for every ball and pressing with intent. He finally got his goal from the penalty spot. 7.5.

Description

Ange Postecoglou has selected his Tottenham Hotspur team to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarter-final second leg.

It all comes down to this evening’s match with Tottenham drawing 1-1 against Frankfurt in the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week.

Pedro Porro cancelled out Hugo Ekitike’s early strike with some poor defending having allowed the French forward plenty of space before firing the ball low into the corner of Guglielmo Vicario’s goal.

Tottenham spurned plenty of chances in the match to hold the advantage arriving into the second leg after Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur both rattled the crossbar.

There’s no denying that the season rests on tonight with reports suggesting Ange Postecoglou is facing the sack as Tottenham head coach if the club are dumped out of the Europa League.

Tottenham’s lowly fifteenth position in the Premier League table means their only chance of playing in European football next season rests on winning the Europa League to secure qualification to the Champions League.

What is the Tottenham team vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Postecoglou confirmed Heung-min Son will miss the Frankfurt match due to a foot injury, with the club captain having also sat out Tottenham’s 4-2 defeat at Wolves on Sunday.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is the Tottenham team selected for tonight’s game which takes to the field at Deutsche Bank Park:

Tottenham: Vicario, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Bergvall, Bentancur, Maddison, Johnson, Solanke, Tel

Subs: Austin, Whiteman, Spence, Davies, Danso, Gray, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Moore, Odobert, Richarlison

Tottenham could battle Aston Villa and Newcastle for Jack Grealish

Tottenham could battle Aston Villa and Newcastle for Jack Grealish - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may find themselves in a three-way transfer battle for Jack Grealish this summer as Manchester City’s stance on the attacking midfielder comes to light.

Grealish has been a bit-part player at Man City for much of the season and with Pep Guardiola’s men undertaking a rebuild, there is a question mark about his future at the club.

It has been claimed over recent weeks that Tottenham could go back in for Grealish this summer after failing to get a deal over the line for him in January.

However, a fresh update has explained why a deal for the 29-year-old would be difficult to pull off for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Tottenham involved in a three-way battle for Jack Grealish

GiveMeSport have now revealed that Spurs, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have all expressed their interest in Grealish ahead of the summer.

It is explained that Man City may be willing to cash in on the England international at the end of the season, four years on from spending £100m to secure him from Aston Villa.

The outlet says that the Premier League champions have ‘given indications’ that they will entertain offers for Grealish, with the three clubs thus gearing up for a potential transfer battle.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is pointed out that the winger’s wages could be a ‘significant stumbling block’ for Tottenham, Villa and Newcastle, with the player currently earning £300,000 per week at the Manchester club.

Grealish and Man City’s stance explained

Interestingly, GiveMeSport say that Grealish would prefer to remain at the Etihad and fight for his place, while Pep Guardiola is also not actively pushing for him to be sold.

However, the Man City hierarchy are not ruling out the possibility of cashing in on the former Aston Villa man this summer.

This is because the Premier League champions need to sanction a few departures to free up the funds to push ahead with moves for their top summer targets.

Just as speculation linking Marco Silva with a move to Tottenham intensifies, Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan has now come out to issue a clear statement about the Portuguese coach’s future.

Over the last few days, Spurs have learned that they could end up missing out on the man who is widely reported to be their managerial target.

It has been claimed that Andoni Iraola is now leaning towards remaining at Bournemouth for one more season and may potentially extend his deal at the Vitality Stadium.

This development could see Tottenham turn their attention to another Premier League manager, with Marco Silva also thought to be high on Spurs’ wishlist.

Fulham issue Marco Silva warning to Tottenham

Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan, who is the son of the club’s owner, Shahid Khan, has now responded to the media speculation about the Cottagers’ head coach.

He made it clear that Silva has a very good relationship with the club’s top brass and that the Portuguese coach is seen as the man to take the club forward over the next few years.

When asked about Silva’s future, Khan told BBC Sport: “Marco is a huge, huge asset to Fulham Football Club. He is such an amazing person and he is so important to the football club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Marco has a great relationship with my father and myself, and we really love Marco and we want him to stay at Fulham Football Club forever. He is a huge part of what we have got going for the future and the present and he is a great man.”

Pundit issues a warning to Daniel Levy about Marco Silva

One can see why the Fulham boss is admired by the Tottenham hierarchy, given the style of football he delivers and the success he has had at West London on a modest budget.

However, Troy Deeney has warned Daniel Levy that Silva will not be a ‘yes’ man, as he is not afraid of telling things as they are.

The former Watford man questioned if that could cause some friction between the Portuguese coach and the Tottenham board, given the way the Spurs hierarchy work.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur may have some bad news regarding Andoni Iraola soon, as a new update has revealed what Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is planning to do over the next few days.

Until recently, various outlets were playing up Tottenham’s chances of bringing the Bournemouth boss through the door to replace Ange Postecoglou.

It had even been claimed by several sources that Andoni Iraola is open to taking over at Tottenham this summer on the back of two very impressive campaigns at the helm at the Vitality Stadium.

However, over the last few days, it has been revealed that Iraola is moving towards committing his future to the Cherries, and it turns out that the South Coast club are wasting no time in their efforts to tie down their head coach.

Andoni Iraola set for talks over his Bournemouth future

BBC Sport have now revealed that Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is scheduled to fly to England this week and one of his priorities is to open talks with Iraola over his future.

The Cherries hierarchy are expected to open formal negotiations this week to extend the contract of the Spaniard, whose current deal runs until 2026.

The outlet confirms what we have heard from other sources over recent days by claiming that Bournemouth are confident of tying down Andoni Iraola, even though he features prominently on Tottenham’s managerial wishlist.’

MORE SPURS STORIES

Is another Premier League boss shooting up Spurs’ wishlist?

Just as we have heard reports that Iraola might be set for a stay at Bournemouth, rumours have also emerged over recent days suggesting that Tottenham may be turning their attention to another Premier League boss.

We have heard that Spurs are now considering a shock move for Oliver Glasner, whose future at Selhurst Park looks to be in doubt.

One would expect there to be a lot more twists and turns in Tottenham’s managerial search this summer if the club decides to make a change, but supporters would be hoping that the process is not as drawn out as the ones in 2021 and 2023.
