Kevin De Bruyne transfer claim might interest Tottenham Hotspur this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur might have to keep an eye on Kevin De Bruyne’s transfer situation this summer, with the Man City star refusing to rule out a move to another Premier League team.

Over the last two years, Spurs have followed a policy of signing young, up-and-coming talents and giving the youngsters a platform to fulfil their potential.

Many Tottenham fans would be hoping that there is a slight change in course, with this young squad needing a sprinkling of experienced star quality in order to get back to competing near the top end of the table.

It turns out that Spurs might be offered a chance to sign one of the most iconic names in English football history, who has consistently won the biggest trophies in the game throughout his career.

Kevin De Bruyne opens the door to Premier League stay

Kevin De Bruyne announced last week that he will be leaving Man City when his contract expires this summer.

The Belgian will undoubtedly go down as one of the best players to ever grace the Premier League, but it turns out that his time in English football might not be done just yet.

The City star has now seemingly offered Premier League sides a come-and-get-me plea by refusing to rule out staying in the division beyond this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked if he sees a move to another Premier League club as an option, De Bruyne told ViaPlay (via Fabrizio Romano): “Honestly I don’t know. The decision to leave has not been long. I have to speak to them and then I will see whichever team wants me. So, I don’t know. I have no idea.”

Will Tottenham make an audacious offer for De Bryune?

One would expect many Premier League sides to reach out to the Man City man’s agent after this admission but Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to be one of those.

The club operate within a strict wage structure and with De Bruyne being a free agent, he will demand a sizable contract, which Spurs are unlikely to offer.

That was driven home by the fact that Daniel Levy recently issued a warning about Tottenham’s unsustainable spending, which suggests that the wage structure is unlikely to be broken.

That is even before one considers whether De Bruyne would even be open to joining a club which is not competing for major honours.

How Vinai Venkatesham’s arrival is expected to impact Daniel Levy’s Tottenham role - Spurs Web
Description

A new report has shed light on how Vinai Venkatesham’s arrival will affect Daniel Levy’s role and influence at Tottenham, and many Spurs fans will not be pleased with the update.

Tottenham’s appointment of Vinai Venkatesham came out of the blue, with the club announcing out of nowhere a couple of days ago that he will join as their new CEO at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen how Venkatesham’s arrival will affect the role of senior Spurs figures such as Scott Munn and Johan Lange.

Reacting to the news, one Tottenham fan group welcomed the appointment and called for transparency on how this will affect Levy’s role, but they will not be happy to hear what has now been reported on the matter.

How Vinai Venkatesham’s arrival will affect Daniel Levy at Tottenham

The Telegraph have now claimed that the appointment of Vinai Venkatesham as Tottenham CEO has shocked a number of figures across the Premier League.

Many rival clubs are thought to be surprised that Spurs would hire an ex-Arsenal chief in such a prominent role as well as the timing of the announcement.

Interestingly, the outlet says that Venkatesham’s arrival is not expected to see Levy give up any control of Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The publication adds that to the contrary, the 44-year-old’s appointment is seen by many inside the game as a move by the Spurs chairman to strengthen his position.

Protests continue against Daniel Levy and Tottenham owners

If this update is true, it will not please a lot of Tottenham supporters, who have made it clear how they feel about the club’s chairman.

In fact just last week, thousands of Spurs fans marched in unison calling for Levy to leave, which is the third major protest of this kind we have seen this season.

While Tottenham fans may have been open-minded to the arrival of Vinai Venkatesham, hearing the appointment could solidify Daniel Levy’s position will not be popular.

Ange Postecoglou teases Dejan Kulusevski surprise for Tottenham fans in Frankfurt - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham fans will be very interested in the response that Ange Postecoglou gave when asked if Dejan Kulusevski could start against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

Spurs would have ideally wanted to head into the second leg high on confidence with a win against Wolves under their belt but instead, the Lilywhites fell to yet another defeat away from home.

Ange Postecoglou knows that his side will need all the help they can get to overcome Frankfurt, given the Bundesliga side’s formidable record at home in the Europa League.

They have received a boost ahead of their trip to Germany as Dejan Kulusevski made his return to the pitch at the Molineux Stadium after recovering from a foot injury that kept him out for nearly two months.

Could Dejan Kulusevski start for Tottenham on Thursday?

Kulusevski replaced James Maddison on 75 minutes against Wolves and the Swede seemed to be moving without much discomfort.

Tottenham fans would now feel a little more optimistic about their chances of making it into the Europa League semifinal as Postecoglou has refused to rule out the possibility of the Swede starting against Frankfurt.

When asked if Kulusevski could start on Thursday, Postecoglou told Football.London: “We’ll see. It was good for Deki, Richarlison and Matty Tel to get minutes. That will be important Thursday night for sure. Especially those three it was really good to get decent minutes in them and they all felt really good.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Will Postecoglou risk starting Kulusevski?

Under normal circumstances, it would be safe to assume that Postecoglou would not risk handing a start to a player who has been out of action for so long.

However, these are not normal circumstances, with Tottenham’s season hanging on the game at Deutsche Bank Park.

One would expect the Australian would keep faith in the side that played so well in the first leg but it would not come as a huge surprise if Kulusevski is given the nod to start.

Alasdair Gold has lavished praise on one teenager who is making huge waves in the Tottenham youth system this season and has predicted that it will not be long before we see the youngster making his senior debut.

Given the number of Tottenham Hotspur youngsters who have made their first-team bow in the Europa League this season, it is perhaps a little surprising that Luca Williams-Barnett is still waiting for his opportunity.

The youngster continues to hammer the door down with his displays for the club’s youth sides, with the 16-year-old netting a hattrick in the U17 Premier League Cup final to help the Lilywhites lift the trophy on Friday.

Following his impressive showing in the final, Williams-Barnett admitted that he cannot wait to play in the Premier League, and if Gold’s latest prediction is to be believed, he might not have to wait long.

Alasdair Gold admits Luca Williams-Barnett reminds him of Tottenham legends

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now pointed out that the young attacking midfielder has already been named on the bench for three Europa League matches this season, which suggests that he is very much on Ange Postecoglou’s radar.

He predicts that senior figures at the club will be taking note of Williams-Barnett’s development and predicts that a first-team debut ‘will not be far off’ for the teenager.

Gold even adds that we might see the versatile attacker feature in the Premier League before the end of the season, particularly given that Tottenham only have pride to play for.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He suggests that it could be the perfect opportunity for Postecoglou to blood young stars, with Williams-Barnett at the front of the queue to get his chance.

Finally, the journalist hands the youngster a huge compliment by writing: “There is something very nostalgic about watching the 16-year-old. The confidence on the ball, the drop of the shoulder, the inbuilt radar of those around him and the wandering talent in those feet stir echoes of former Spurs legends like Hoddle, Ginola and Gascoigne.”

Alasdair Gold says highly-rated Spurs coach is one to watch

In the article, Gold also discusses the growing stock of Tottenham’s U18s coach Stuart Lewis, referring to him as ‘the architect’ of the club’s success in the U17 Premier League Cup.

Gold points out that Lewis has now guided Spurs to three Premier League Cup trophies in as many years since his appointment as the U18s coach in 2021.

The journalist adds that the 37-year-old’s progress is being watched closely, with many in the game tipping him to break into the men’s game before long.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to face a major challenge from Man United for one of their top transfer targets, with a new report shedding light on what the feeling at Old Trafford is about the player in question.

Regular readers of Spurs Web would be aware that over the last couple of months, the speculation linking Tyler Dibling with a move to Tottenham has gone into hyperdrive.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham are leading the race to land Tyler Dibling, even though he is also wanted by a host of clubs around the Premier League and Europe.

It was even asserted by one source a couple of weeks ago that Daniel Levy has made it his personal mission to win the race for Dibling this summer.

Man United are extremely keen on landing Tyler Dibling

However, if CaughtOffside’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham Hotspur are not going to get their hands on the 19-year-old without a fight.

This is because Man United are now said to be ‘increasingly keen’ on winning the race for Tyler Dibling and are plotting a swoop for him as soon as the window opens.

In fact, the Southampton winger has now reportedly moved near the top of Ruben Amorim’s wishlist after the Saints relegation was confirmed.

MORE SPURS STORIES

With all three of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho expected to depart Old Trafford, the club have settled on Dibling as the man to bolster their options out wide.

How much will Southampton demand for Dibling?

CaughtOffside say that although the South Coast club would like the youngster to sign a new contract, he is expected to leave for a new challenge this summer as he wants to remain in the Premier League.

The publication asserts that Tyler Dibling should be available for a fee of around €40m (£34.7m) this summer.

Apart from the clubs mentioned previously, Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham and RB Leipzig are also named as potential suitors for the England Under-21 international.

Kyle Walker admits Tottenham star was unlucky to miss England call-up - Spurs Web
Description

Kyle Walker has admitted that he has been a fan of one Tottenham Hotspur man for several years and praised him for the manner in which he has stepped up through the club’s injury crisis this season.

At the start of the season, hardly a single Spurs fan would have predicted that Djed Spence would be in contention for the Player of the Season award, but the full-back now stands a decent shot of winning it given the strides he has made in 2025.

The 24-year-old would have felt extremely hard done by to be left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, given how well he has performed at both left-back and right-back this season.

Spence has even been urged to change his national allegiance after being overlooked by Tuchel, but the defender believes that the Tottenham man’s time is coming.

Kyle Walker says Djed Spence was unlucky to miss out on England

With Walker being from Sheffield and having come through the Blades academy, he admits that he had his eye on Spence right from his loan spell at Bramall Lane in the 2021-22 season.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man praised his fellow full-back for the way he has taken every challenge in his stride this season and admitted that he was unlucky to miss out on the recent Three Lions squad.

When asked about Spence, Walker said on his BBC podcast: “From hearing it from your fellow footballing, you know, players that they look up to you, obviously, I think personally from me coming back to him on his career, again, you know, he’s had a few setbacks from coming back from obviously flying at Nottingham Forest, signing for Tottenham, then going out on loan. But I think this season especially, he’s played out of position at times with Tottenham’s, you know, injury crisis. Yeah.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“And he’s kind of, yeah, he’s just took it in his stride. And I saw him actually play at Nottingham Forest. And I thought ‘this one’s going to be a good one’. And you can see a Premier League team snapping him up. Did I know it would be my old team? No.

“But I think that he’s doing fantastically well this season, probably unlucky not to get a senior call-up to the England team. But if he was there, probably have taken my space. So just hold off for, you know, five more games.”

Tottenham teammates wax lyrical about Spence

A number of the full-back’s Tottenham teammates have spoken very highly of him this season.

Last week, Destiny Udogie lauded Spence for the season he is having and admitted that he and the Englishman help each other out with pointers even though they are sometimes competing for the same left-back slot.

Tottenham first-half player ratings vs Eintracht Frankfurt – 4/10 star needs to up his game - Spurs Web
Description

The half-time whistle has sounded in the North of London, signalling the end of the opening forty-five minutes in tonight’s Europa League tie between Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt – and it’s now time for our first-half player ratings.

The nights are bright under the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs kick off the first of their two-legged Europa League quarter-final clash.

The Tottenham players are definitely hungry to push for Europa League success, but standing in their way is third-placed Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ange Postecoglou and his men know what’s at stake, as they’ll be hoping to give themselves a significant advantage ahead of the second-leg tie in Germany.

Throughout the first half, we analysed each player’s individual performance, rating them on a scale of 1-10. Let’s take a look at our Tottenham player ratings.

Tottenham’s first-half player ratings vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Guglielmo Vicario: Vicario has had a pretty quiet first half. Aside from conceding early on, he has not been called into action much. Not sure if there is more he could have done for the opener. 5.

Pedro Porro: Another goal from the full-back’s side is never encouraging, but more often than not, that has been the case this season. You simply can’t let the winger come into his preferred foot; just show him down the line. That being said, the forward did manage to find himself in the box, finishing beautifully from a Maddison cutback. 7

MORE SPURS STORIES

Cristian Romero: Little to do for much of the half as Frankfurt have largely relied on counter-attacks. Solid enough, without needing to do anything spectacular. 6

Micky van de Ven: Not been tested much defensively, but has looked composed when bringing the ball out from the back. 6

Destiny Udogie: In for Djed Spence, Udogie has had a few chances to get forward and hit the byline. However, his delivery has let him down more than once. 6

Lucas Bergvall: Should have done far better in the build-up to Frankfurt’s opener. Allowed Ekitike to cut in far too easily—needed to double up or at least force him wide. 4

Rodrigo Bentancur: Anonymous for large spells. Did well to cover defensively a couple of times when Spurs were left open and kept things ticking over but needs to offer more. 5

James Maddison: Started the game in the worst possible fashion, carelessly losing possession for Frankfurt’s opener. Did redeem himself slightly by setting up Porro for the equaliser, but he’ll know he has to do much better. 5

Brennan Johnson: His standout moment came when he turned in a Solanke cross at the back post, only to be ruled offside. Not much else to write home about. 5

Dominic Solanke: Lively and industrious throughout the half. Constantly on the move, pressing with intent and linking play well. His clever run down the channel was key in the build-up to Spurs’ goal. Just needs a goal to cap it all off. 7

Alan Shearer reveals what he has told Harry Kane about Tottenham return - Spurs Web
Description

As the speculation continues to run rife over a possible return to England for Harry Kane, Alan Shearer has explained why he does not want to see the former Tottenham man finish his career back in the Premier League.

While the England captain continues to break all sorts of goalscoring records at Bayern Munich, there have been non-stop rumours over his future since it was leaked that Kane’s contract at Bayern has an exit clause of £54m this summer.

Reports over the recent weeks have claimed that Tottenham have not ruled out the possibility of making a shock move to bring Harry Kane back to N17.

In fact, Tottenham have a first refusal on Kane, which was agreed upon when a deal was struck in 2023 between the North London club and Bayern Munich.

Alan Shearer makes honest admission about Kane

Spurs fans may be dreaming of seeing their record goal scorer back in a Tottenham shirt one day, although such a move appears unlikely for the time being.

However, Shearer confesses that he would love to see Kane ending his career in the Bundesliga as his Premier League goal record is in real danger if the 31-year-old returns to England.

When asked if he would like to see Kane return to England one day, the Newcastle legend told Optus Sport: “I was the one that was pushing him, telling him to go aboard – there’s no way that I’m going to invite him back because he’s a fantastic player and if he chooses to come back then there’s no doubt he’ll have a really good chance of breaking that record.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“So yeah, whenever I see him I’m like ‘yeah you stay in Germany mate, you’re smashing it over there scoring loads of goals, there’s no point in you coming back to the Premier League just yet’.”

Harry Kane will not be returning to Tottenham this summer

Whether or not a return to Tottenham Hotspur is on the cards for Harry Kane in the future, it is clear that he is not going to be on the move this summer.

Reports from Germany indicate Bayern are relaxed about Kane’s release clause as they do not expect the striker to push for a move this summer.

Heung-min Son names Premier League idol he wanted to copy as a kid - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo was his Premier League idol when growing up.

When it comes to top players who have graced the Premier League, there are numerous.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a fair few in recent years, with Harry Kane and Heung-min Son two that spring to mind. Of course, Harry Kane has since departed the Lilywhites and now plies his trade at Bayern Munich.

This leaves Son, who only just moved up the all-time Premier League top scorer chart not too long ago after he bagged his 127th Premier League goal this season—a number that places him in joint-16th place.

Heung-min Son reveals Cristiano Ronaldo was his Premier League role model

Spurs aren’t the only club to have produced big-name players who’ve lit up the Premier League. Manchester United, one of the most successful clubs in the league, have churned out plenty themselves.

Undoubtedly, many would say the pick of the bunch is Cristiano Ronaldo—not only did he tear up the Premier League, but he also went on to become one of the best to ever play the game.

Son, speaking on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, opened up on what he now thinks of Ronaldo, having idolised him while growing up.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked about Ronaldo, Son said: “For me, he’s the real deal, my football hero.”

When asked whether Ronaldo was his number one, Son replied: “Yes. To grow up I wanted to be like him, watching so many clips of him. And sharing the pitch with him was unreal, it was like a dream.

“Still playing at forty years old and I think his birthday was a couple of weeks ago. The way he’s still performing, the way he looks after his body, he’s such a role model.”

Son’s goalscoring mirrors Cristiano Ronaldo in one key area

While Heung-min Son is still a fair way off lacing the boots of Cristiano Ronaldo, there are a few similarities in the style of both players.

Ronaldo’s always been known for being a two-footed finisher, and across his career, Son’s built a reputation for exactly that.

Of his 127 Premier League goals, Son has scored 49 with his left foot—despite being naturally right-footed. It’s a trait that hasn’t gone unnoticed at Tottenham, either.

Mikey Moore and Destiny Udogie have both named Son as the player with the best weak foot at Spurs, with Moore especially full of praise for the South Korean’s technique.

“I have to go for him again, Sonny,” Moore said. “His left foot is unbelievable, it’s like his right, so it’s definitely him.”

Tottenham tipped to beat RB Leipzig to 50-year-old Austrian manager - Spurs Web
Description

A report from Germany has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for an experienced Premier League manager, and they are favourites to beat a Bundesliga side to his signature.

As the speculation over Ange Postecoglou’s future at Spurs continues to intensify, various names have been mooted as potential replacements for the Australian at the end of this season.

It has been widely reported that Andoni Iraola is Tottenham’s top choice to replace Postecoglou while other sources have claimed that Spurs are also keeping an eye on both Marco Silva and Thomas Frank as backup options.

Last week, it was reported that Tottenham are also considering a shock move for Oliver Glasner, and there has now been a fresh update on the Austrian coach’s future.

Tottenham have an advantage in Oliver Glasner race

A report in SportBild (as relayed by Sport Witness) now discusses the possibility of Glasner exiting Crystal Palace this summer and reveals that RB Leipzig are keen on bringing him back to Germany.

However, the outlet states that Tottenham Hotspur are also on the trail of the former Eintracht Frankfurt head coach, who remains a candidate to take over from Ange Postecoglou.

It is said that Spurs ‘can offer a higher salary’ to Glasner and could thus prove a more attractive destination for the 50-year-old.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Interestingly, it is said that Tottenham are not the only Premier League club to have made contact with Glasner, but the report does not name who the other sides are.

Who do Spurs fans want to replace Postecoglou?

Based on the reports doing rounds over recent weeks, it seems as if the Tottenham hierarchy are prioritising managers who are currently working in the Premier League while finalising their top candidates to take over this summer.

However, search engine analysis has revealed that most Spurs fans want Mauricio Pochettino to return to N17 this summer, although that looks like it might be very difficult for Tottenham to pull off.
