Description

Ange Postecoglou has dropped the biggest hint yet over his future with Tottenham Hotspur during Friday night's Europa League trophy parade.

The Spurs players and coaching staff toured around the surrounding area of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after beating Manchester United in Bilbao on Wednesday night.

Brennan Johnson scored the game's only goal in the first half to end Spurs' 17-wait without silverware in what was an emotional night in Spain. Before Sunday's final Premier League game of the season against Brighton, Tottenham celebrated their European success with supporters on the streets of north London.

After driving around with the trophy on show, players and staff assembled on to a stage outside their stadium. A series of chants for players were played before the likes of Son Heung-min and Johnson were interviewed.

Postecoglou, who also spoke while on stage, went on to drop a massive hint over his future with another teasing quote. "I'll leave you with this; all the best television series, season three is better than season two. Thank you."

Postecoglou's future at Spurs remains unclear, despite leading the club to European glory. Son, who was named captain by the Australian when he arrived in 2023, recently spoke out about Postecoglou and whether he should stay with the north London club.

"He won that trophy. Nobody did it, so look, this isn't up to me or the players, but we just have to look at the facts, at the fact that we haven't won in 17 years, today is the day we finally won it. It's the manager who wins the trophy. So we will see what's going to happen," he said.

Tens of thousands of Tottenham supporters lined the streets of north London to celebrate the club's Europa League final win.

Following Spurs' success in Bilbao against Manchester United, the squad and coaching staff enjoyed an open-top bus parade on Friday evening. A white double-decker bus with “Europa League winners” written across the front slowly moved through Fore Street and High Road before it finally arrived at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium nearly two hours later.

With Ange Postecoglou getting a big cheer when he was first shown to the crowd on the big screen, the likes of Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Cristian Romero ensured spirits remained high on board the bus. Once the incredible journey from Edmonton Green to the stadium ended, the players and coaching staff greeted supporters on a specially erected stage.

Fans chanted Postecoglou's name before the Spurs boss, Brennan Johnson and others addressed the excited fans. Son, to the delight of everybody, then lifted the trophy.

Below are a selection of pictures from the trophy parade.

Description

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has poked fun at north London rivals Arsenal after helping the club get their hands on the Europa League this week.

Spurs ended their 17-year wait for silverware on Wednesday night, after they beat Manchester United 1-0. Brennan Johnson scored the game's only goal in the first-half before Guglielmo Vicario then pulled off an injury-time save to deny Luke Shaw.

Despite lurking in the bottom five of the Premier League table, Tottenham will now play in the Champions League next season. On Friday night, Spurs players and staff paraded around north London with the Europa League trophy, on an open top bus.

"Unbelievable," Ange Postecoglou said as the bus toured around the surrounding area of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. "As much as you try to understand what a trophy would mean to these people, seeing them here, that's why we do what we do. I'm super pleased the boys delivered and that's why."

As part of Tottenham's live stream of the parade, a number of players were interviewed on the bus and Bissouma, who was colossal in Bilbao against United, used the opportunity to take aim at Arsenal.

The Gunners will finish in second in the Premier League this season - for the third consecutive year - but have now gone five years without winning a trophy. "Look at how North London is fully white," the midfielder said.

"We suffered a lot this season and to win this European cup, I've no words. We did it and I'm proud of my team, all the fans and the staff."

Tottenham play their final Premier League match of the season on Sunday afternoon. That comes at home against Brighton.

'Fuming' - What Thomas Frank has said about the prospect of replacing Ange Postecoglou - Football London
Description

Thomas Frank has already appeared to rule out the possibility of succeeding Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur this summer and insisted he is fully committed to the job at hand with Brentford.

The 51-year-old has brought unprecedented levels of success to west London since succeeding Dean Smith nearly seven years ago.

Since returning to the top flight, Brentford have built on their success year after year, and on Sunday, they have a chance to earn European qualification for the first time in their history.

Frank's impressive work at Brentford has seen him linked with a whole host of jobs in recent years, including Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

But earlier this week, the Dane admitted that he is paying attention to reports linking him with a move to north London as he is focused on ending the season strongly with the Bees.

“Right now, of course, I am committed," said Frank. "I just lost to Fulham, our local rivals, so [I am] fuming in every aspect.

“So yes, I am committed like I have always been.”

Ahead of the final round of Premier League fixtures this weekend, fresh reports have claimed that officials at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have held talks about the possibility of trying to poach Frank from Brentford in the event they do part ways with Postecoglou.

However, after guiding Spurs to a first trophy in 17 years as they won the Europa League on Wednesday night, Postecoglou insisted he wouldn't walk away from his role as manager and wants to build on his side's success.

Frank, meanwhile, is under contract until June 2027.

Ange all smiles

A lovely image. Ange Postecoglou and Yves Bissouma celebrate with the Europa League trophy.

Johnson verdict

The scorer of the winning goal, Brennan Johnson, has also been speaking on board the open-topm bus.

It’s definitely up there (with birthdays), I can’t think of many better! Unbelievable day. So good to soak it all in.

The club has so many supporters, so many real supporters, who haven’t won anything in a little while so I expected it to be unbelievable and it’s exceeded my expectations.

I’ve not watched the highlights but I watched my goal back. Just surreal. It’s nice to watch it and see how much it means to the fans, the celebrations when I scored was crazy.

'It's been incredible'

Archie Gray on the scenes: “Words can’t describe it, it’s so loud. I want to describe it without swearing but it’s difficult, it’s unbelievable.

“No definitely not (couldn’t believe his first season would end like this). I had full belief in the team but scenes like this, they come about very few times in football.

“I was just thinking, I’ve got to run as much as I could in those five-ten minutes. I was just sprinting everywhere. I was just thinking about Bruno Fernandes, just stay around him, he would be a good marker because he was their dangerman.

“It’s been incredible. We’ve celebrated it as a team, we’ve been out for meals, it’s been incredible, times we’ll never forget."

Extremely busy

The latest from Alasdair:

More and more people are arriving now after finishing work. Spurs have been making announcements to try to get people down of the roofs of shops around the stadium. It's a bit of a worry especially as some are jumping up and down.

Crazy Richarlison

We're getting very close now to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The noise has turned up a notch. Richarlison is certainly loving it.

Micky van de Ven thoughts

Micky van de Ven is enjoying himself on the bus. The defender said: "If you experience this you want to do it over and over again, and we want to try and do the same beautiful things next season."

He added: “Unbelievable man. Yeah I slept a little bit (in the last 48 hours)

“Emotional, so emotional. The season we’ve had, it was so difficult, but we got the trophy and we’re so happy. I’m so proud of the boys.

“If you experience this, you want to do it over and over again. We’re going to try to do the same beautiful things next season."

Getting very busy

The Tottenham bus continues to make its way to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

football.london's Tottenham correspondant Alasdair Gold says: "The big screens here outside the stadium are showing the bus and we can all see where it is along the route.

"People are walking alongside the bus on the pavements where it is now. They certainly won't be able to do that as it gets closer to the stadium. We're all tightly-packed together here. No room to swing a Spurs shirt let alone walk."

More from Son

I think the last two days have gone so fast. I felt like I just slept five hours, but it’s already Friday. Two days have gone so fast with a lot of joy, a lot of happiness. It was incredible.

I waited, I dreamed of this moment. It finally happened. A little bit of pressure is going away, but I’m so glad that I did it here. I did it in a Spurs shirt. In 17 years, nobody did it. Our group, we have done it. I’m so proud of this group.

I said many times that I wanted to make it here. But today is the day that is special. I’m very lucky, I was captain, it’s even better. I’m all over the moon, so so happy.

Suns out

The sun is out in north London and the players and supporters are loving it as much as one another!

The squad, on top of the open-top bus, are waving at the fans on the ground and lapping the occasion up. Most of the players look like they are in sunglasses. What an atmosphere!

'I will never forget this moment'

Captain Son Heung-min has been speaking on board the bus. He said: "Look at this. Amazing feeling. I will never forget this moment. Wow."

The South Korean, who was wearing sunglasses and had a croaky voice, added: "I've dreamt of this moment. I'm so glad I did it here. Did it in a Spurs shirt. I'm so, so proud of this group."

Fans up lamp posts

Alasdair says people are climbing up all sorts of things just to catch a glimpse of the bus.

We've got people on building rooftops, bus stop roofs, up lamp posts, precariously hanging off fences and railings and squeezed into any space they can. Everybody wants to be a part of history.

Son and Richarlison

Son Heung-min can be seen here lifting the Europa League trophy. Richarlison is standing next to the Spurs captain encouraging the crowds to cheer.

Huge cheers throughout

Alasdair has just sent the following:

The bus has begun its journey from Edmonton and the crowds outside the stadium cheer. Big cheer as well as they see Ange Postecoglou on the big screen in a Spurs shirt. Big shift in backing for the Australian after what he delivered for these fans on Wednesday night.

Bus on the move

The open-top bus is finally on the move.

Stay with us for the next 60-90 minutes as we bring you live updates throughout!

Cheers for Ange

With the bus departing Edmonton Green, there are a number of screens on the route so fans can still watch along.

Ange Postecoglou just appeared on the screen and supporters cheered loudly.

What a sight!

There it is. There they are! A perfect picture.

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min carries the Europa League trophy onto the open-top bus. The bus is about to depart.

Here we go.

Spurs backed for more success

Graham Roberts, who won the FA Cup with Tottenham in 1981 and 1982, believes the Europa League win is just the start.

"We'll get more now, the rest will come," he told supporters standing outside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. "Wednesday was one of the greatest nights. I had tears in my eyes. We were in the fan park, me and Ledley [King]. The fans were magnificent. They deserve it. I just hope we get a team on the pitch on Sunday."

He added: "This will give them belief now. All that pressure that was there, that’s gone. We have to strengthen our squad, but I think we have a great bunch of boys.

“They love Ange, they went round him, they cuddled him, they wanted him in the photos. The team spirit is there.”

'That’s what happens from being a Spurs supporter!'

Former Tottenham star Clive Allen has been addressing the supporters outside the ground, as we wait for the open-top bus to arrive.

He said: “I think it did feel different (to Madrid in 2019). We had to produce a result, a performance, and we did.

"My son took a picture of (my grandson) Burt, he was absolutely sobbing, he lost all control. He’s 11 but obviously had never experienced anything like it.

"He was sitting there. I spoke to him on Thursday morning and said, ‘Grandpa, I’m really sorry, I was crying’. My wife said, ‘that’s emotion, that’s passion, that’s what happens from being a Spurs supporter!’"

South Korean fans fly over especially for parade

Two female South Korean fans, who watched the Europa League final in Korea, have flown to London especially so they can catch a glimpse of the parade.

One said of Son Heung-min: “He’s a national hero. He’s the first (South Korean) captain of the Premier League. We’re so proud of him.”

The view from Alasdair Gold

It's been packed outside the stadium for hours even though the crowds know that bus won't arrive here for hours. It's been 17 years so what's a few more hours? The players have just got on the bus with the trophy so everyone along the route will get to see them soon enough.

We've seen legends such as Ossie Ardiles, Ricky Villa, Graham Roberts and Pat Jennings walking down the High Road and currently the sun is still out, but even the rain won't dampen these spirits.

Songs in full flow

Fans are singing all their favourite songs and people are enjoying themselves.

Just look at the people sitting on that building roof!

Legends in attendance

Our chief Tottenham Hotspur correspondant Alasdair Gold is among those at the trophy parade, as you would expect!

Former Spurs stars Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa have been among the ex-players to make their way to the stage The duo walked up with Pat Jennings.

The atmosphere right now

Do you need a ticket?

Put simply - no!

It's a free event open to Tottenham supporters! A club statement reads:

No, everyone is welcome to join the celebrations. However, we advise that there will be a security screening operation in place with extra Security staff and Police on hand throughout the route. We kindly ask that you comply with any personal and/or bag checks that take place. We shall restrict access to certain areas once they reach capacity.

Happy supporters

It's starting to get busy! We are just 45 minutes away from the open-top bus victory parade getting underway in north London.

Fans have already started to gather outside the stage near to the stadium, while Fore Street and High Road are also starting to fill up.

Sandro celebrating with supporters

Head of Football at football.london, Lee Wilmot, is among the Tottenham supporters heading to the stadium right now.

As you would expect, he's in a jovial mood.

In fact, it appears that Lee has just spotted former Spurs midfielder Sandro. He's sent in the following:

Walking down the High Road, Sandro driving his car tooting his horn at the fans as he goes.

Tottenham stage erected

Tottenham have erected a staging area above the High Road, outside the stadium on Paxton Terrace. This is so the players and coaching staff can present the Europa League trophy to fans gathered shortly after the conclusion of the bus parade.

Spurs are expecting the area to be very busy. A club statement reads: "We expect the High Road area outside the stadium with a view of the stage to be extremely busy and full to capacity early – we encourage spectators to spread out along the Parade route."

Postecoglou's future

It's fair to say that going into the final there was a lot of speculation about Ange Postecoglou's job.

After the game, Spurs captain Son Heung-min couldn't have been much clearer.

Micky van de Ven has had his say.

And the man himself's three-word message to Daniel Levy.

Send your message to Ange and the boys!

What a week to be a Tottenham Hotspur fan!

The team managed to bring the trophy home from Bilbao after a very tough year for the club - and now you can send your own message to congratulate them!

Cristian Romero makes Tottenham feelings clear with wordless message amid transfer exit links - Football London
Description

Cristian Romero has shared his delight after being named the UEFA Europa League Player of the Season.

The centre-back was a rock at the heart of the Tottenham defence throughout the European campaign, with the defender playing seven times, most of which came in the knockout stages due to the Argentine suffering with injuries during the league phase.

The 27-year-old led out the team in Bilbao on Wednesday night and, alongside Micky van de Ven, helped shut out the Manchester United attack to ensure the Lilywhites won their first piece of silverware since 2008. Romero was named Wednesday's Player of the Match and on Thursday UEFA confirmed the defender had been named as the competition's Player of the Season. Romero, Pedro Porro, Guglielmo Vicario and Dominic Solanke were all named in the Europa League Team of the Season.

Clearly delighted with the personal achievement, Romero shared details of his award on his X account alongside a smiley face emoji. The defender also shared two snaps of himself lifting the Europa League trophy in a separate post, with the Spurs star tagging Tottenham's account alongside a white heart emoji.

It comes ahead of a busy summer for Romero, with the Argentina international linked with an exit from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A number of clubs are believed to be monitoring Romero as the summer transfer window approaches.

With only two years left on his contract come the summer, Tottenham may face a difficult decision regarding Romero's future amid interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Last month, Romero revealed that he wants to play in La Liga during his career.

Speaking to the Argentine journalists Esteban and Gaston Edul for Los Edul, he explained his motivations and career plan. "I try, above all things, to always live day to day," Romero said, his words translated into English from Spanish.

"There are almost two months left of the season, and I want to perform at my best and try to finish it in the best way possible. We are in the semi-final of the Europa League, which is an important step for the club after so many years that it has not reached this stage.

"After that, we'll see. In the end, I would like to win it, but it depends on many things.

"The truth is that I have not spoken with my agent yet, but I am willing to do anything. My focus is always on growing and looking for new places to continue developing, but I don't want to talk about that yet because there are a few months left to finish the season."

Asked which leagues he has yet to play in that he would like to, Romero acknowledged: "La Liga is a league I would love to play in and need to play in because it is the league that I would lack [to play in all the major leagues]."

Description

Celebrations are in full swing following Tottenham’s momentous Europa League triumph over Manchester United earlier this week.

Despite an underwhelming Premier League campaign, everyone associated with the club is in party mode after Brennan Johnson’s solitary goal in Bilbao on Wednesday night ended the club’s 17-year wait for a trophy. Ange Postecoglou had vowed to win silverware in his second season, and the manager duly delivered, rounding off a fantastic European campaign.

Although the North London club still have a final Premier League fixture this weekend at home to Brighton, the Europa League success will be marked with a trophy parade this evening. Here, football.london brings you all the key details on the route, timings and how to watch.

The Route

Spurs have confirmed that the open-top bus parade will begin at Edmonton Green at 5:30pm, heading southbound down The Broadway/Fore Street, before continuing along High Road and past the stadium. The bus will then turn east onto Lansdowne Road, followed by Willoughby Lane and finally onto Northumberland Park.

The parade will conclude at the stadium’s service yard, located adjacent to the Sainsbury’s on Northumberland Park. A stage will be set up outside the stadium, above the High Road on Paxton Terrace, where a presentation involving players and coaching staff will take place once the bus parade has finished.

Timings

The club has announced that the parade is expected to last between 60 and 90 minutes after its 5:30pm departure from Edmonton Green. A DJ, live music and a Legends Q&A session will begin in the staging area from 3pm.

Road closures have been in effect from around midday on Friday and will last until midnight on Saturday morning. Full details of road closures and timings can be found on the club’s website.

How to Watch

Supporters hoping to secure a good view of the stage on High Road are advised to arrive early, as the club anticipates the area will reach capacity quickly. Several large screens will be positioned along the route to broadcast the presentation.

Tottenham discover harsh reality of UEFA rule change after Europa League triumph - Football London
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are 2024/25 Europa League winners – and by doing so have ensured their place in next season's Champions League.

Ange Postecoglou made the stunning vow that he 'always wins in his second year' with a club and then made good on that with Spurs on a triumphant night in Bilbao.

Brennan Johnson's first-half goal was ultimately the difference as the Londoners kept Premier League rivals Manchester United at bay, collecting the silverware desired for 17 long years.

In the context of this season alone, in many senses, it was all left to rest on that Europa League final.

Sitting 17th in the Premier League table, there was no other route available for Postecoglou's side to qualify for Europe and gain access to the riches that come with it.

It is just to their disadvantage that entering next season's Champions League, a 2024 rule change is going to make their task that much more challenging to deal with.

For the 2024/25 campaign, UEFA changed their competition formats to begin with a 'Swiss model' league phase, where all 36 teams are in the same points table and the results of eight fixtures - each against different opponents - compile together.

Part of this deviation from the traditional group stage format was to alter how seeding in the competition works.

In the past the Europa League winners, i.e. Spurs, would have been put into pot one of the draw - the highest in the competition, meaning they would face what would be weaker opposition, at least on paper.

Now in the new format, they are put into pot two so have an increased pool of tougher sides, again at least on paper, who they can draw.

There is also now no chance for a do-over if they get it wrong, as Champions League teams eliminated at the league phase of play-off stage do not enter into the Europa League as some previously used to.

Still, when the alternative was losing the final and succumbing to a league finish one place above the relegation zone, it is not as if Spurs will be complaining.

Participation in next season's Champions League will come with a £15.6m prize just for qualifying. There is also £1.7m for every league phase match won or £580,000 for a draw.

That is without considering the even greater prize funds unlocked through advancement to the knockout stage.

And lastly, as 2024/25 finalists Paris Saint-Germain have proven, you don't have to be the best in the league phase to have a chance of winning the entire thing.

Luis Enrique's side finished 15th in the standings and were required to play a play-off, but now are on a match against Inter Milan away from continental glory.

Micky van de Ven admits Ange Postecoglou said something that made him really happy - Football London
Description

Micky van de Ven is 'really happy' that Ange Postecoglou said he always wins trophies in his second season so the Tottenham players could help him continue that trend.

Postecoglou was asked earlier in the season about usually winning something in his second campaign at a club, to which he replied that he always wins in his second one after joining a team. That answer brought plenty of scorn from rival fans and pundits, especially as Spurs struggled in the Premier League with injuries and inconsistent performances.

However, Postecoglou can keep using that line because on Wednesday night he became only the third manger in the club's history to win a European title as Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao in the Europa League final.

“The gaffer said this and I think he proved he’s done it," said Van de Ven. "He won again something in his second year and everyone who was doubting him, everybody that was doubting us, we all proved them wrong this year.

“Of course it was a really tough season. In the league we didn’t perform well, it was really poor from us. I can’t say anything else but that. But in Europe, we did so well.

"To be honest I’m really happy he said he always wins something in his second year. We made sure he can keep saying this. We’re happy for him and happy for the team."

The 24-year-old Dutch defender was excellent against United and made a crucial acrobatic clearance off his own goal line from Rasmus Hojlund's header late in the game and football.london asked Van de Ven what was going through his head in that moment and how much the landing in the goal clearly hurt.

“I can tell you it was painful! Vic came out, the ball bounced on his head. I don’t know how to be honest. The ball came to Hojlund and I was like 'I need to go to the goal line because if he heads over Vic, that’s going to be a goal'," said the centre-back.

“I saw the ball coming and to be honest the ball was high and I was like 'I don’t know how I’m going to do this', but I just tried everything I could and I saved it. It was all worth it because we kept the clean sheet. Some back issues afterwards but it’s all worth it!"

So what is it like to end 17 years of waiting at Tottenham for a trophy?

"An unbelievable feeling, of course. In the league we didn’t do really well, everybody was doubting us, but I think we all proved them wrong," said Van de Ven. "Today we’re here, we’re lifting a trophy and have made some history, so of course that’s an unbelievable feeling.

"Every time we played in Europe, we showed our quality, we showed how we can play. The gaffer had a big role in this, he kept believing in us, the whole staff kept believing in us. He just made sure we stayed together and as a group we stayed together. We kept believing that we could create history with this group and we did it."

Van de Ven was asked whether he believes this group of Tottenham players can build on this first trophy under Postecoglou with Champions League football now on the table next season and a place in the UEFA Super Cup in August.

"Yeah of course we want to build on it. To be honest now we just want to celebrate and enjoy this moment," he said. “Of course we want to do something special also next year. Every year you want to be successful and achieve something. But I really haven’t thought about it to be honest. Now we want to celebrate and we want to do beautiful stuff."

With three key creative players missing from Tottenham's midfield in Bilbao in James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall, Postecoglou set up his side in a compact, industrious 4-3-3.

As they did in the previous knockout games on the road in the Europa League, Spurs took a more pragmatic approach to the game

"Of course we have a plan beforehand but everybody changed. You can say what you expect from the game but the game is always going to be different," said the Dutchman. "We wanted to play our own game and you saw in the first half we created some chances, they created some chances.

"The game was 50/50, we scored our goal, and in the second half, of course, they pressed us more backwards. I think that’s normal when you’re 1-0 up and they needed to score. I think we defended it really well.

“I have to think about the header from Shaw and Hojlund. But I think we defended it really well. We kept a clean sheet like in the last couple of games in Europe.

“We proved to everybody we are a really good side. We played so well. Of course the AZ Alkmaar away game was a tough game but all the other games we played so well and showed everybody what we could do and we did the same today in the final."

Van de Ven had explained ahead of the final that when he joined Tottenham, 'banter people' on social media had told him that he was choosing to be trophy-less and he was asked whether this victory would silence such people.

"Probably they will continue but I don’t care anymore. We proved them wrong. We won a trophy so they can say whatever they want," said the young defender. "We lifted a trophy and that’s the most important for us and the fans and for the club."

What James Maddison did as Tottenham returned home as Europa League champions - Football London
Description

The celebrations went on long into the night in Bilbao. And rightly so. The Tottenham Hotspur players will go down in history as the ones to have ended a 17-year trophy drought and a 41-year wait for a European title.

Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final in San Mames, Bilbao, to be crowned Europa League winners and claim a place in next season's Champions League to boot.

Brennan Johnson bagged the only goal, but there were plenty of big performances across the board from the Tottenham players.

One player not even in the squad for the final was everywhere on the night, interviewed at least four times by TNT Sports and then taking centre stage on the pitch in the celebrations too, wearing his full kit, as he was allegedly told to do.

James Maddison is the man in question, playing a vital role in Spurs' run to the final before a knee injury against Bodo/Glimt in the semi-final first leg curtailed his season.

Videos emerged on social media showing the playing squad out on a night out singing along to Freed From Desire and Wonderwall, with Maddison at the forefront, leading the karaoke for the Oasis tune.

A classy Ange Postecoglou speech to the players and their families also came out as the players celebrated well into the night.

Send your messages of congratulations after Tottenham's Europa League triumph here

Son Heung-min had joked on TNT Sports' coverage that he might miss the plane due to the celebrations that would be going on after the final whistle, but all appeared present and correct as the squad boarded the plane to fly home on Thursday afternoon.

And Maddison was front and centre of the video Spurs released of the players boarding too.

The England man, with his pillow in tow, led the players up the steps to the plane and, without anyone joining in, decided to have another sing-song.

As Maddison boarded, he could be heard singing 'Championes, championes, ole, ole, ole'. Johnson, following him up the steps had a smile on his face, while Yves Bissouma was clearly struggling to hoist his cabin bag up, holding all the players up behind him.
