Tottenham are facing a fight to remain in the Premier League but the threat of suffering relegation down to the Championship doesn't bother one player

One Tottenham player has told his teammates that he is 'not too concerned' about the club suffering relegation from the Premier League because he believes he can and will LEAVE this summer.

Spurs are embroiled in a fight to avoid dropping down to the Championship following a disastrous 11-game winless run that has seen them fall to 16th, just one point above Nottingham Forest in 17th and 18th-place West Ham, who sit in the final relegation spot.

Igor Tudor's side travel to Liverpool next up and could well be inside the bottom three come the game at 4:30pm on Sunday, as both West Ham and Forest are in action before them.

But the threat of relegation does not bother one Tottenham player, who has expressed to his teammates that he is not worried about the possibility of dropping out of the Premier League because he is confident he will find a new club come the start of next season, according to The Athletic.

Meanwhile, it's added that some players who are determined to pull Tottenham away from relegation danger have indicated displeasure at the application of others, who they feel are not motivated to dig in and help the club remain in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham's woes were worsened following Tuesday's 5-2 hammering at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and football.london reported post-match that the club's squad feel Tudor has imposed himself too forcefully since his arrival at the club last month.

Tudor replaced Thomas Frank's as Spurs' head coach until the end of the season but the Croatian has endured a nightmare start to life in north London, losing each of his opening FOUR matches. They were beaten by Arsenal, Fulham and Crystal Palace in the Premier League before the crushing defeat in Madrid.

And Tottenham's players believe that Tudor's approach since his appointment has come across as 'disrespectful' and 'borderline mocking'. The ex-Marseille and Juventus manager picked Antonin Kinsky in goal for the trip to Atletico but substituted him in the 16th minute after making a couple of early errors to leave Spurs 3-0 down.

The decision to drop and then bring on Guglielmo Vicario, the club's usual No.1 goalkeeper, represented yet another instance of Tudor's dubious team selection changes. His efforts to enforce discipline have spectacularly misfired, and this has bred frustration and scepticism among the playing staff regarding his authority.

After the full-time whistle at Atletico, Tudor then appeared to ignore Kinsky as the 'keeper departed the field, choosing not to speak to him about either the substitute or what his disastrous 16-minute performance could mean for the rest of his Tottenham career.

It has since been reported that Kinsky is anticipated to seek a loan move away from Spurs in the summer transfer window, as he looks to regain some confidence and get valuable game time.

The young Tottenham goalkeeper had a night to forget in the Champions League last 16 first leg clash at Atletico Madrid on Tuesday

Kevin Danso knows the Tottenham players will gather around Antonin Kinsky in the aftermath of his humiliating night in Madrid.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was making his debut in the Champions League proper but within six minutes slipped as he kicked the ball, sending it straight to Atletico's Ademola Lookman and the ball was worked to Marcos Llorente to score. Micky van de Ven then slipped on 14 minutes on the rain-soaked pitch and that allowed Antoine Griezmann to run through and fire home.

There was more pain in Spain to come for Kinsky though two minutes later as he made a complete mess of another kick, this time sending it two yards into the path of Julian Alvarez, who had the simple task of tapping the ball into the empty net.

Spurs interim boss Igor Tudor immediately hauled off Kinksy, replacing him with Guglielmo Vicario. The Croatian coach did not even acknowledge the young Czech as he walked straight down the tunnel crestfallen as some of the Tottenham substitutes ran after him.

Danso could only watch in horror as those early goals hit the back of the net in the 5-2 defeat and he quickly spoke to the goalkeeper as he trudged off.

"It's a very difficult moment for him. I think in football these kind of things happen, it's just about not letting it affect him too much. It's a difficult situation but we as a team will definitely get around him," said the Austria international. "These things happen, unfortunately it happened to him today but he's a great goalkeeper and he's definitely going to bounce back."

On the quick substitution, the defender added: "From what I see, I think it was the manager's decision and we've got to respect that.

“Our main focus is just trying to gather something from the game, take some positives and get a few goals back for the return leg."

In all 3,000 Spurs fans made the trip to the Metropolitano, a number of them leaving before the game was done as their club's plight continues to worsen. Danso acknowledged that it is as difficult a time, perhaps more so, for the fans as it is for the players.

“Definitely. First of all, these things happen and we're working very hard and each and every one of us is looking at ourselves in the mirror, working hard and we want to turn this around," said the centre-back. "Everybody's giving everything they've got and I think it's down to us to dig a little deeper and give it just that bit more."

Spurs face nine huge Premier League games ahead to escape relegation and Danso believes that these kind of high pressure games are exactly why players get into the sport.

"I think that's why you become a professional footballer, you dream of big games and big moments," he said. “Sometimes there's difficult moments and this is the time to show character, belief and just trying to gather the boys up, dust ourselves off and go again.

“In a situation like this you show what type of team we are. We know that and it's all about us and it's all about what we can do and I think it's enough talking now. We've just got to talk to each other and give that little bit more and dig deep."

Harry Redknapp gives update on Tottenham return as players hold 'disrespectful' Igor Tudor view

Description

Harry Redknapp has delivered an update on a potential return to Tottenham following Igor Tudor's disastrous start to life at the north London club

Harry Redknapp has admitted he doesn't think he will return to Tottenham should the club decide to sack Igor Tudor. The 78-year-old former Spurs manager was linked with a sensational move back to north London following Thomas Frank's departure last month.

However, Tottenham instead went down the route of appointing ex-Juventus and Marseille boss Tudor as head coach until the end of the season. But Tudor has endured a nightmare start to life at Spurs, losing each of his first four matches across all competitions.

Tudor began with a 4-1 defeat at home to Arsenal in the North London Derby and Spurs haven't recovered since, losing against Fulham and Crystal Palace in the Premier League before Tuesday's 5-2 thrashing at a rampant Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16.

While Spurs plan to stick with Tudor ahead of Sunday's trip to Liverpool in the Premier League, speculation has increased tenfold on the Croatian's future with some supporters and ex-players calling for him to be sacked despite having less than one month in the job.

And Redknapp's name has come up in the conversation, with former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara tipping the veteran to replace Tudor and keep the club in the Premier League. But he played down talk of a stunning return to Spurs on Wednesday.

Speaking to the Press Association at the Cheltenham Festival, Redknapp said: "I've been asked a few times if I'd go back to Spurs and it's probably not going to happen, is it? Would I go back? Of course I would, but I doubt very much it’s going to happen."

He added: "They've got it all on to stay up, it's going to be hard. I’m looking at their fixtures and Nottingham Forest are playing alright, West Ham are playing very well, it's going to be tough for Tottenham. My only concern at the minute is The Jukebox Man (his horse) in the Gold Cup, I’m nothing to do with Spurs any more.

"They haven't been in touch, not at all. I hope Spurs stay up and I hope West Ham stay up."

Ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures, Tottenham sit 16th in the table, one point above Nottingham Forest in 17th and 18th-place West Ham, who lie in the final relegation spot.

There is genuine concern that Spurs may be relegated to the second tier for the first time in 49 years, and some players feel that Tudor has come across as 'disrespectful' since arriving at the club.

That emerged following Tuesday's defeat at Atletico, where Tudor decided to substitute Antonin Kinsky following a humiliating 16-minute spell, conceding three goals from three errors.

Kinsky was replaced by Vicario soon after, and Tudor's attempts to instil discipline have backfired, with football.london reporting this has left the group of players frustrated and doubtful about his leadership.

Some feel that Tudor has over‑asserted himself since making the move to Tottenham, coming across as 'disrespectful' and 'borderline mocking' throughout his first four weeks in the position.

Ange Postecoglou's response over Tottenham return as he tells Igor Tudor what to do next - Football London
Description

Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou was asked whether he would return to the club he won silverware for less than 12 months ago amid the club's struggles this season

Ange Postecoglou refused to say whether he would make a return to Tottenham, amid uncertainty over interim manager Igor Tudor's position at the club. The Australian coach could only laugh and offer a simple "no comment" when the prospect was put to him on Tuesday night.

Postecoglou was sacked by Spurs in June, weeks after leading the Lilywhites to Europa League glory and a first trophy in 17 years. The 60-year-old has since taken charge of Nottingham Forest and been sacked again, and was working for UEFA at the Parc des Princes for Chelsea's defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

But with Tottenham's staggering defeat to Atletico Madrid fresh in the memory, and his former side in a relegation fight, Postecoglou was asked about Spurs' struggles.

Appearing on TNT Sports, the ex-Celtic boss was if he was the least surprised person to see Tottenham in the position they're in? He responded: "No, I wouldn't say that.

"I am still invested in the club because I have an attatchment to those players, I worked with them for two years. The last time I interacted with the fans there was 200,000 on the streets of London.

"It pains me to see it. It definitely looks like the players are fairly lost at the moment. There's obvious pressure there. It's a real difficult time.

"It all manifested itself with what happened last night. It's almost the worst case scenario, you playing a side away from home, Atletico, who never drop below a performance level of two. They're always at a really strong level. It was a horror start for them"

Postecoglou believes Tudor, who has tasted defeat in all four matches he has taken charge of, must attempt to relieve the pressure on his players.

"There is no way that anyone would say, objectively, these players are performing at the level they are capable of," Postecoglou continued.

"You've just got to try and ease the pressure on them somehow. Even last night, I thought it was a tremendous opportunity for them because they've done really well in the Champions League, they're on the good side of the draw. Atletico away is tough but you've still got to take them back to Tottenham but it just felt like the pressure was there.

"I'm sure they would have trained on the pitch the night before but the amount of times they were slipping over, I think that's still pressure. There's just a real desperation in everything they do.

"Mentally, you're desperate and that manifests itself in a physical way. You're lunging for things, you're rushing things. It's hard for me to comment from the outside.

"For me it’s just about instilling some belief into the players. Show them the kind of players that they are, not that they can be."

Mauricio Pochettino's fresh comments on Real Madrid job after watching Tottenham disaster

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss has been linked with a return to north London among other clubs

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has made fresh comments downplaying speculation linking him with the Real Madrid job. The Argentinian manager is currently in charge of the United States men's national team, but his contract expires after the World Cup this summer.

He's the favourite to take over at Tottenham at the end of the campaign, with the club looking for Thomas Frank's permanent successor.

Igor Tudor's interim tenure has been a disaster at the club and his still searching for his first win in charge, losing all four of his opening games.

The most recent was a terrible display against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, beaten 5-2 by Diego Simeone's men who were 4-0 up after just 22 minutes.

Pochettino was in attendance to watch the game at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and has given an update on being linked with the Real Madrid job, with pressure now starting to build on current boss Alvaro Arbeloa who took over from Xabi Alonso in January.

Speaking to Chiringuito, Pochettino said: "There are many rumors, almost always negative, so as long as they’re pleasant.

"I always maintain a very good relationship with almost all clubs, not just with Madrid."

They follow on from comments he made last month, where the former Spurs boss admitted that he is open to anything when he leaves the USMNT.

During a radio interview with “Radiogaceta de los Deportes” on RNE in Spain, he said: “I’m always linked (to clubs), to Tottenham, just like at one time I was linked to Espanyol, or to other clubs.

"In the end, especially because of my past at those clubs, when things aren’t going well, people tend to fall back on emotions and say, ‘Well, with Mauricio we played good football,’ or whatever it may be.

"But no. We’re focused on the World Cup, on the United States. My contract runs until after the World Cup, so after that we’ll see what might happen. Open to everything, right?"

Spurs have witnessed a revolving door of managers since Pochettino's exit, with Antonio Conte, Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Thomas Frank all dismissed in the aftermath of his departure. Caretaker manager Tudor is already facing scrutiny with Spurs embroiled in a relegation scrap.

Pochettino has experienced a turbulent period since leaving Spurs. The US head coach remained at Paris Saint-Germain for just over 18 months, securing Ligue 1 in 2022, and spent 12 months at Chelsea before departing Spurs' London rivals.

His potential availability could yet increase the pressure on Tudor as he seeks his maiden victory. The Croatian acknowledges the Premier League remains his foremost concern, though.

"We need to do our best in terms that we need to grow, as you said also. Because our first aim is the Premier League - this needs to be said publicly, this is a normal thing - this is something extra," he said.

"But that doesn't mean that we don't want to pass and don't want to go to the next round."

Dejan Kulusevski has not played for Tottenham this season due to a knee injury with a fresh message delivered by the Sweden international

Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski has issued a hopeful message on social media as he continues to recover from a major knee injury.

The 25-year-old has not played for Spurs in 10 months having undergone surgery, with it clear he is desperately eager to return.

On Tuesday, Kulusevski uploaded an Instagram post with the bible verse, "Jesaja 40:31," as the caption. That verse states: "...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

The song 'For a Better Day' by fellow Swede Avicii has also been included on the post by Kulusevski.

The meaning of both his caption and song hints that Kulusevski is frustrated with his injury lay-off but seems aware that he will be back on the pitch soon.

Whether or not that return arrives this season remains unclear with interim head coach Igor Tudor issuing an update on his injury late last month.

He said: "He's had really big problems as you know, but he's positive and also the doctors are positive, so we'll see next week how he’s going. We hope [he can play this season]. In this moment, we don't know."

Tudor could desperately do with Kulusevski, who he coached briefly at Juventus, being fit and available especially as Tottenham continue to suffer embarrassing defeats. The Lilywhites have lost their last six games and conceded 18 goals.

Nearly one third of those arrived on Tuesday evening in the Champions League last-16 first leg against Atletico Madrid. The north Londoners were 4-0 down after just 22 minutes, with Antonin Kinsky dragged off following the third goal with that being his second major mistake of the game.

Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro goals have given Spurs a lifeline for the second leg but before then, Spurs head to Anfield for a Premier League game against Liverpool. In addition to multiple injuries, Tudor could be without Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha after both were forced off because of head injuries.

The 47-year-old has lost all four of his games in temporary charge with some brutal verdicts delivered on the club, both externally and by those in the squad.

Micky van de Ven was one of those to speak after the 5-2 humbling with the central defender, who was at fault for the second goal, delivering some harsh truths.

Speaking to Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport, he said: "It's actually a doomsday scenario. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

"For our goalkeeper [Kinsky] it's terrible as well of course. You don't wish that on anyone. For 15 minutes we just conceded goals that you really can't do anything about.

"Right now we're just taking blow after blow after blow. It's just really tough, and now we also have an important match this weekend that I won't be able to play in because I'm suspended.

"It's a really terrible period, I can tell you that. It's really, really awful. I'm not on my phone anymore. I'm completely done with it. Just my family, so it'll be fine. It's rough, really rough. I have to keep going. It's part of it, that's life and we'll see what's coming."

Tottenham are in deep crisis, and the chaotic 5-2 Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid, in which goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky endured a nightmare evening, has only intensified the turmoil

Tottenham's squad feel Igor Tudor has imposed himself too forcefully since his arrival at the club, with some viewing his approach as 'disrespectful' and others finding it 'borderline mocking,' football.london understands. The 47-year-old has failed to make any meaningful positive impression following Thomas Frank's departure and remains winless in his tenure.

Tuesday's crushing 5-2 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid highlighted the team's complete disorganisation, with young shot-stopper Antonin Kinsky suffering a nightmarish 16-minute period before his first-half withdrawal. His early mistakes saw Spurs trailing 3-0 within a quarter of an hour.

Guglielmo Vicario came on shortly afterwards, representing yet another instance of the interim manager's increasingly dubious team selection decisions. Tudor's efforts to enforce discipline have spectacularly misfired, and football.london understands this has bred frustration and scepticism amongst the playing staff regarding his authority.

Following the final whistle in Madrid, Tudor then seemingly ignored Kinsky as the goalkeeper departed the field, choosing not to address him about either the substitution or what such an episode might mean for his professional trajectory. A telling silence.

The Telegraph reports that Kinsky is anticipated to pursue a summer loan switch as he attempts to resurrect his goalkeeping career. Tudor has also encountered difficulties with the training sessions under his supervision.

They have left the squad 'unhappy', whilst the delayed arrival of his trusted assistant Ivan Javorcic, held up by work-permit complications, has merely compounded the discontent.

Compounding the issue, players like Xavi Simons and recent acquisition Conor Gallagher have been relegated to the periphery, with the latter being demoted to a bench role.

In contrast, senior squad members such as Dominic Solanke, Gallagher and Joao Palhinha were seen sprinting from the sidelines and into the tunnel in an attempt to comfort Kinsky.

Post-match, Tudor asserted that it was 'my decision, of course,' and revealed that he had spoken to Kinsky in the changing room after the incident. Tudor's remarks in the press have also incensed fans.

Following four consecutive losses under his leadership, a streak that has plunged Tottenham into an unprecedented six-game losing run, he retorted with a dismissive 'No comment.'

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust released a statement post-match demanding immediate intervention. "Tonight's performance and result is a total disgrace. It's symptomatic of the abysmal state of things at Spurs right now," it declared.

"From the January transfer window to the management appointments, the lack of leadership and the total absence of anyone with a Spurs pedigree informing these decisions. Where is the Daring to Do? Where are the Echoes of Glory?"Emergency action is needed as right now we are sleep walking off the edge of a cliff. Being a Spurs fan has never been so difficult but supporters will not sit by and watch the club continue to decline. There will be more to follow....

"At the very least those in Madrid should have their match tickets refunded. But all we really care about is that the club make us proud. We are here to support the team and be the 12th man. But we all deserve so much more."

Tudor's future at the north London club hangs in the balance, with no assurances he'll still be at the helm when Tottenham head to Anfield on Sunday.

The upcoming fixture carries immense weight for Spurs, who currently sit just one point clear of the relegation zone and are in dire need of a turnaround.

Tottenham Hotspur defender has made his feelings crystal clear after the Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has pulled no punches following their dismal defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Spurs found themselves 4-0 down after just 22 minutes, with the Dutch international calling it a doomsday scenario.

Head coach Igor Tudor replaced goalkeeper Antonín Kinský after just 17 minutes following two costly errors from the Czech shot stopper, with Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez finding the back of the net for the La Liga side.

The interim boss had dropped Guglielmo Vicario in favour of the 22-year-old goalkeeper who had made just two Carabao Cup starts this season, but quickly had to backtrack on his decision.

Speaking to Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport, Van de Ven said: "It's actually a doomsday scenario. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

"For our goalkeeper it's terrible as well of course. You don't wish that on anyone. For 15 minutes we just conceded goals that you really can't do anything about."

Van de Ven admitted he no longer checks his phone and said: "Right now we're just taking blow after blow after blow. It's just really tough, and now we also have an important match this weekend that I won't be able to play in because I'm suspended.

"It's a really terrible period, I can tell you that. It's really, really awful. I'm not on my phone anymore. I'm completely done with it. Just my family, so it'll be fine.

Speaking after the game, Tudor was asked about the incident and said: "It happened very rare things in my coaching 15 years, I never do that. It was necessary to preserve the guy, to preserve the team.

"Incredible situation, nothing to comment, you will see. It was, before the game, the right choice to do in the moment like we are.

"Pressure on Vicario, another competition, Toni is a very good goalkeeper. So I was, for me, the right decision. After this, of course, it is easy to say that it was not the right decision.

"I explained to Toni, also speaking after, that he is the right guy and a good goalkeeper. Unfortunately, it happened in this big game, these mistakes.

"We started the game, it was too much for us. In this moment, when we are fragile, we are weak. Even the second half was 4-2, it was almost 4-2 with Richarlison. We tried to score a goal in 4-2 and then we conceded the goal."

Tottenham players put to shame by £760m reality as Igor Tudor faces sack threat - Football London
Description

After Tottenham Hotspur's latest humiliation under Igor Tudor, another painful fact that will hit home for the North Londoners has emerged

Tottenham Hotspur are the 16th best team in the Premier League, despite having the fifth most valuable side in the division. Beleaguered Spurs manager Igor Tudor has a squad of players worth £763million, but each game has represented a new low for the Croatian.

Spurs were hammered 5-2 by Atletico Madrid in their Champions League round of 16 first leg. Tudor, 47, saw the boldest decision of his short reign backfire after 15 minutes.

Antonin Kinsky made two huge mistakes in the Spanish capital, after Tudor dropped Guglielmo Vicario for the 22-year-old Czech. The Spurs interim manager then made things worse for himself and the youngster when he refused to acknowledge him, after substituting him for Vicario after 16 minutes.

Things could not be much worse for Tottenham right now, as they have one foot out of the Champions League and are also teetering on the edge of relegation. All of this has happened despite their squad being worth £763m.

According to BetVictor, only Arsenal (£2.2bn), Liverpool (£1.8bn), Manchester City (£1.1bn) and Chelsea (£1bn) have squads valued higher than Totttenham.

This financial reality only shines a greater light on Tottenham's failures this season. Last year's Europa League triumph ended Tottenham's trophy hoodoo and looked set to be the catalyst for a new beginning.

However, Ange Postecoglou's sacking only resulted in the same issues happening under Thomas Frank, while things have only got worse since Tottenham also dismissed the latter. football.london also understands Tudor has managed to irk many of the current crop of Spurs stars.

Things could get worse for the north Londoners before they get better. An ominous looking away trip to Anfield to face Liverpool waits for them this weekend.

In addition, 18th placed West Ham United are slowly putting results together, only losing to Liverpool and Chelsea in their last six Premier League matches. Seventeenth placed Nottingham Forest have also shown signs of life by securing a surprise 2-2 away draw with Manchester City.

They also have a winnable home clash against Fulham, who have lost to West Ham and been knocked out of the FA Cup by Southampton in their last two games, coming up.

Tottenham will also be without the suspended Micky van de Ven this weekend. Captain Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha may also be unavailable, as both got taken off against Atletico with apparent concussions after clashing heads.

The help Antonin Kinsky will get behind closed doors after Tottenham nightmare

The help Antonin Kinsky will get behind closed doors after Tottenham nightmare - Football London
Description

The Tottenham goalkeeper had a nightmare in Madrid as the rain fell and the goals poured in as he lasted just 16 minutes on his Champions League debut

Antonin Kinsky was done. In just 16 minutes his Champions League debut had self-destructed and he marched straight down the tunnel.

It had been the right decision to take him off, even if it was brutal. The Spurs defence had lost all confidence and so had he. The question is whether this was the right game to throw the 22-year-old into in the first place - such a huge occasion without a single minute to his name since October.

Igor Tudor had been deep in discussion with captain Cristian Romero before the interim Tottenham boss turned to the man he had dropped - Guglielmo Vicario - to prepare to come on and save him and the team.

With the change made, Kinsky walked straight down the tunnel, his face full of emotion, and Tudor did not even look at the Czech, nor offer an explanatory or consolatory word.

Instead Spurs substitutes Dominic Solanke, Conor Gallagher and Joao Palhinha raced after him to console him.

Tudor claimed that he made the decision to protect Kinsky and the team and that he had explained it in the dressing room to him afterwards.

He said he had selected the keeper, known as "Toni" around the club, in order to put pressure on Vicario, who has recorded more clean sheets in the Champions League than any other goalkeeper this season.

Kinsky is acknowledged to be better with his feet than the Italian, while Vicario is the more assured shot stopper. Yet it was Kinsky's feet that let him down miserably on Tuesday night amid the rain in Spain, albeit on a controversial re-laid pitch that has caused problems for Atletico themselves and their opponents in the past month.

Both Tudor and Atletico boss Diego Simeone said they had never seen anything like those 16 minutes of football and it's difficult to see Kinsky's Tottenham career recovering from this unless he can rebuild elsewhere and return. It's likely the club will have a new number one next summer regardless.

The players will gather around Kinsky but confidence is a big thing, not only within a player but from those around them. The sight of him slumped on the turf with his face in his hands as Julian Alvarez scored will be an enduring one.

“It’s terrible for him, he’s making his debut. You wouldn’t wish this on anyone," Micky van de Ven told Dutch media outlet Ziggo Sport.

FOLLOW OUR TOTTENHAM FB PAGE! Latest Spurs news, analysis and much more via our dedicated Facebook page

Kinsky is young enough that he can rebuild his confidence elsewhere. West Ham wanted to sign him in the winter window but his path may end up abroad, away from the noise that will linger around him.

Previous loan moves have been blocked by Spurs with plenty of interest in the stopper but they will not stand in his way this summer when the window opens.

He needs to get away and construct from the foundations again. Clips of his 16 minutes from hell will have gone viral across the world but nowhere is the scrutiny as constant as the Premier League.

Other goalkeepers have been gaffe-strewn in the English game but have reset at other clubs, Spurs stoppers among them.

Paul Robinson found his career begin to slide after that bobble and missed kick for England and he had his say on Kinsky and Tudor after watching live in Madrid.

"The manager certainly hasn't helped Kinsky at all," Robinson told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast. "Nobody will understand where he is and there is nobody who knows you've made a mistake more than you as a goalkeeper.

"Unfortunately it is a very lonely place and that has been highlighted and magnified by the manager making that substitution. Him making that change after 16 minutes is going to be talked about worldwide. For him that will be soul-destroying.

"He's probably sat alone in the dressing room for the rest of the first half, I wouldn't be surprised if he was in tears in that situation."

He added: "It's a really difficult thing to handle, but I think actually it's a very selfish decision from the manager because he knows that he's not here for long. He's making decisions that he thinks will keep him in a job and keep Spurs in the Premier League.

"It was a very selfish decision. He bought Kinsky in because Vicario has been poor in the league and I think he thought if Kinsky did well he had an excuse to keep him in for the rest of the season.

"He reverted on that decision very early. I've never seen a manager substitute a goalkeeper so early and so clearly as a result of mistakes. It's quite blatantly for self-preservation for the manager because he thinks it was the best decision for him at the time without consideration for the young goalkeeper."

Goalkeeping great Peter Schmeichel went in just as strong in his analysis as the goalkeeper union closed ranks around Kinsky.

"I feel really, really sorry for him, You make mistakes, you know, he's put him in goal. Obviously, he's costing the team the opportunity to win. Not that Tottenham have any opportunity to win. I mean, it was a terrible performance," said the CBS Sports pundit.

"But when this happened, when you look at the clock there, 14:55, what does Igor Tudor then? Well, he substitutes him. That's going to have ramifications for the rest of his career. This will be a moment that everybody in football will always remember every time they see and hear his name.

"You make your choice as a coach and yes, it wasn't going your way and you're 3-0 down, there's no way that this team would ever come back from that. You've got to stick with him and at least stick until half-time

"What he's done there, for me, he's absolutely killed his career. That's going to take something to get over that."

Spurs will offer Kinsky help with the mental side of what has happened whether through their goalkeeping coaches or other means. Many players have their own specialists. Xavi Simons for example employs his own mindset coach.

What will also help Kinsky is that goalkeeping is in his blood. His father, who bears the same name, was a Czech international goalkeeper and will have overcome plenty during his long career. Now 50, there will be plenty of paternal advice and guidance for Kinsky Jr.

Anyone can slip - and most Spurs players did in Madrid - but it will be the second mistake that Kinsky will need to bounce back from.

The Tottenham goalkeeper will be down but not out. This is just the beginning of his path and he must not let one night in the rain define him. This should not be Czech mate.
