It has been a funny old season for Tottenham Hotspur this year.

Ange Postecoglou's side were abysmally poor in the Premier League and FA Cup but somehow managed to win the Europa League.

Now the North Londoners have the Champions League to look forward to next year, although based on how utterly dominant Paris Saint-Germain were in the final on Sunday, they'll need to add some real quality to the squad in the coming weeks and months.

Fortunately, recent reports have suggested that the club may well be closing in on the signing of a top-quality midfielder who has won comparisons to one of the stars for PSG in the final: Vitinha.

The last few weeks have seen Spurs linked with several incredible talents, such as Daizen Maeda and Rayan Cherki.

The former might not be the most exciting name, but considering he scored an astounding 33 goals and 12 assists in 51 games for Celtic this season, his supposed £25m price tag could represent a real bargain.

Yet, Cherki might be an even better deal, as the young Frenchman has been able to rack up a tally of 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 appearances for Lyon this year and could be available for around £19m thanks to a release clause in his contract.

Even still, the North Londoners now seem keen on someone who'd possibly be the best deal of the lot, and it's another player from Ligue 1: Angel Gomes.

According to a recent report from journalist Ben Jacobs, Spurs have already made an offer for the England international.

In more good news, he goes on to reveal that while other clubs, including West Ham United, have also made offers for the midfielder, Tottenham have "grown in confidence" that they'll be able to get their man.

The reason so many teams have already submitted offers to the player is that he'll be a free agent at the end of this month and, therefore, represents a sensational bargain.

In all, it's a deal Spurs should be fighting to get sealed as soon as possible, as, on top of his own qualities, Gomes has also won comparisons to the incredible Champions League-winning Vitinha.

How Gomes compares to Vitinha

So, before we get to some of the other reasons Spurs should be signing Gomes this summer, it's important to address this comparison to the unreal Vitinha and where it's come from.

Well, in this instance, it stems from FBref, which compared players in similar positions in Ligue 1 last season and came to the conclusion that the Portuguse star was the ninth most similar midfielder to the Englishman ace in the competition.

The best way to understand how this conclusion was reached is by looking at some of the underlying metrics in which the pair rank closely, such as non-penalty expected goals plus assists, progressive passes and carries, passing accuracy, key passes, aerial duels won and more, all per 90.

On top of his undeniable similarities to a European champion, the midfield "magician," as dubbed by fellow professional Jonathan Panzo, has plenty of experience.

For example, despite being just 24 years old, the Edmonton-born star has made ten appearances for Manchester United, 32 for Boavista, four for the England senior side and 134 for Lille.

Ultimately, even if he wasn't available for free, Spurs would be wise to sign the experienced and reliable Gomes, so the fact he's available for free makes this transfer a total no-brainer.

Sack looming for Postecoglou despite Europa League victory

It appears as though the Europa League triumph in Bilbao will not be enough to prevent Daniel Levy from pulling the trigger on Postecoglou, with Football Insider recently revealing thaty the decision has been made to sack the manager.

That news comes after journalist Miguel Delaney revealed the 59-year-old has very little chance of remaining in his post, saying: "As of Friday morning, Tottenham Hotspur still hadn’t made an official decision on Ange Postecoglou but the chances of staying had apparently gone down from last week’s ‘five percent’.

"His departure is still expected, whenever that may be."

Sacking the manager who led Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years will no doubt cause unrest within some pockets of the fanbase, but making the decision early will, at the very least, give any new manager an entire summer to instill a new philosophy.

According to Palmeri, who recently spoke to talkSPORT, Daniel Levy now has a top-level manager in mind as a replacement for Ange, namely Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi.

When asked about Inzaghi's future at the San Siro, the journalist said: “The situation is that Al Hilal offered him £25million per-season for two seasons.

“I can tell you that he had advanced contacts with both Newcastle and Tottenham but at the same time, the priority for him is to stay at Inter.”

Tottenham's 17th-place finish cannot be ignored, despite the Europa League triumph in Bilbao, with Ange's side losing 22 Premier League games across the campaign, becoming the first side to lose as many without being relegated.

There is no doubting the Inter Milan manager's talent, having led his side to the Champions League final this season, albeit coming up short in a 5-0 thrashing against Paris Saint-Germain in Munich.

The Italian has been lauded as "phenomenal" by former Inter striker Felipe Caicedo, and he retains a stellar record across spells with Inter and Lazio, winning three Italian Cups, five Super Cups and one Serie A title in the process.

Tottenham Hotspur have now held direct talks to appoint an "outstanding" manager, with Ange Postecoglou heading for the exit door, according to a report.

Ange could be set to leave despite Europa League triumph

One year ago, INEOS arguably made the mistake of keeping Erik ten Hag in the Manchester United job after the Dutchman led them to victory in the FA Cup, and it appears as though Daniel Levy doesn't want to make the same error this summer.

Indeed, widespread reports are now suggesting that Levy is set to sack Postecoglou, despite the historic Europa League triumph against Manchester United last month, which puts captain Son Heung-min among some esteemed company.

It may be a divisive decision to sack the manager responsible for leading Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years, but appointing a top-quality replacement could go some way to getting the fans back on side, and contact has now been made with a coach who could be in that category.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna on X, Tottenham have now made "direct contact" with Brentford manager Thomas Frank, who spoke about his project and potential targets for the summer transfer window.

Several candidates are said to be under consideration as potential replacements for Ange, but Frank is believed to be "high" on the list, and Spurs have now made their first move to appoint the Danish manager.

In another report from France, it is detailed that Ange's future remains very much up in the air, with talks to discuss his position as manager due to take place at some point in the next week.

Frank could be "outstanding" Ange replacement

Deciding whether to sack the 59-year-old will no doubt be a difficult decision for Levy, given that Tottenham's torrid Premier League form cannot be ignored, finishing 17th as a result of collecting just 38 points across the entire 2024-25 campaign.

However, the former Celtic boss has suggested his side's first experience of success will make them more eager to make sure they're in the same position again, saying: "I also wanted us to think about what's next, you know — don't settle for this. We've got a taste of it now. My players have got a taste for it. The club's got a taste for it. Well, let's make sure we're back here again."

Should Levy decide to sack Ange, there are signs Frank could be a fantastic replacement, having been lauded as an "outstanding" manager by Troy Deeney, while leading Brentford to a very respectable 10th-placed finish last season.

Having transformed the Bees from a Championship club into a solid Premier League side, the 51-year-old, who utilises a 4-3-3 formation, has earned the opportunity to prove himself at the top level, showing a knack for turning attacking talents into some of the biggest stars in their division.

Said Benrahma, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay all thrived under his guidance, with only Watkins able to replicate that form elsewhere, while current forwards Yoane Wissa (19) and Bryan Mbeumo (20) combined for nearly 40 top flight goals this season.

Tottenham Hotspur are now set to open talks over a deal for an "unbelievable" star, who is one of their top attacking targets for the summer transfer window, according to former scout Mick Brown.

Spurs set out to bolster attacking options

While Tottenham's season was saved by the Europa League final triumph over Manchester United, there will still be major concerns over their Premier League form, finishing in 17th place after collecting just 38 points.

The forward line was not the problem for Ange Postecoglou's side, who scored 64 goals across the campaign, which is as many as fourth-placed Chelsea, but it appears as though the manager is now keen to upgrade his attack in the summer.

Having secured qualification for next season's Champions League, Spurs should be in a strong position to attract some top players, and they are the favourites to sign Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane, despite rival interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

Sane is, of course, experienced in the Premier League, having picked up 25 goals and 30 assists in the top flight for Manchester City, but the north Londoners also have another winger on the shortlist, who has experienced success in England more recently.

According to Brown, in an interview with Football Insider, Tottenham are now set to open talks over a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who has been identified as one of their top attacking targets for the summer.

Brown said: "Tottenham are one of the clubs looking at Eze,"

"I hear his agent has a few contacts there so I have no doubt they’ll be speaking to him, that’s where a lot of moves of this type start."

However, it could be difficult to lure the England international away from Palace, as the winger is thought to be "happy" at Selhurst Park, and he is protected by a £68m release clause.

Eze could be "unbelievable" signing for Tottenham

Eze was, of course, instrumental in Palace's shock FA Cup triumph, scoring the only goal against Manchester City in the final, while he has previously been lauded as "unbelievable" by Statman Dave.

As such, it is little wonder Tottenham are so keen on the 26-year-old, who picked up 14 goals and 11 assists for Palace in all competitions during the 2024-25 campaign, more goal contributions than any of Postecoglou's players.

Considering the forward is happy at Selhurst Park, the only way to stand a chance of securing his signature may be triggering his £68m release clause, but his recent performances suggest an outlay of that amount would be justifiable.

With Son Heung-min set to turn 33-years-old this summer, it could be important for Postecoglou to bring in a long-term replacement this summer, and Eze's performances for Palace suggest he could be the ideal heir to the South Korean.

While much of the chatter surrounds the thought of Ange Postecoglou leaving Tottenham Hotspur behind this summer, that shouldn't derail their plans in the transfer window.

Indeed, while much of the blame for finishing 17th in the Premier League has been sent in the direction of the Australian, the player squad needs improving significantly too.

Dominic Solanke failed to truly get going in a Spurs shirt after signing for £65m last summer, while Heung-min Son's best days clearly look as though they are behind him, scoring just once since Christmas.

Despite Kevin Danso permanently arriving in a £21m deal, the Lilywhites also need to drastically improve at the back, perhaps not just tactically but also from a personnel point of view. In the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, they shipped a staggering 65 goals, a tally only worse than Wolves and the three relegated sides.

So, who could they turn to?

Spurs confident of signing Premier League winner

Once the manager situation has been resolved, the first order of business for Daniel Levy and Co should be to strengthen the first-team squad.

Adding more bodies to their forward line would tick plenty of boxes as far as the fans are concerned, with one option reportedly Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku.

Reports have indicated in recent days that they've had contact with the Blues regarding a summer deal.

Not just content at improving their options in central areas, they could also sign a new winger. The most heavily tipped option at the moment is Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane.

The German is out of contract at the end of the month and will be available to sign on a free transfer unless he pens new terms in Bavaria.

According to Foot Mercato, Bayern sent an improved contract offer to the former Manchester City star earlier this week but with no resolution forthcoming, Spurs are now believed to be 'confident' of signing him.

Postecoglou's side are set to face competition from other English clubs, including Arsenal, while Saudi and Turkish sides are also looking at Sane.

How Leroy Sane could replicate Gareth Bale at Spurs

What is there to say about Gareth Bale that hasn't already been said? After two spells in north London, the Welshman is an iconic figure.

From that ridiculous volley against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium to that remarkable hat-trick in the San Siro against Inter Milan in the Champions League, very few have been quite as skilled as he.

Across those two spells, he featured in 237 games, scoring 71 goals in the process.

A left-footed whizz with the ability to create something out of nothing, there are certainly similarities between Bale and Sane.

We're not for one moment suggesting that the Germany international will be as good as the Welsh sensation but the way they manipulate the ball and attack their full-backs is certainly similar.

Described as a "superstar" by scout Antonio Mango, Sane has certainly proven that out in Munich, where he has 61 goals and 55 assists in 220 games to show for his efforts. 13 of those goals came this term while he also found the net on ten occasions last season, registering 13 assists.

”Leroy is always dangerous, but in the last two or three weeks he has really been consistent. That’s the difference between scoring ten goals in a season and scoring five goals in a season. He’s in good form." - Harry Kane on Sane in April 2025.

Like Bale, he's a duel threat, someone capable of scoring and creating chances. He's also devilish when cutting inside from the right onto his favoured left foot, just as Bale was all those years ago.

To get a greater sense of how similar they are, we've compared the two players during their respective peaks.

Analysing the numbers, Bale was clearly a more prolific player in front of goal but where Sane makes up for that is in terms of his creation.

He's registered more assists per 90 minutes across the peak of his career to date, and while both wingers love to take on the opposition full-back, it's the Bayern star who comes out on top in this regard.

He succeeds with far more take-ons but they are quite evenly matched for progressive carries.

A carry is considered progressive if the ball is moved towards the opponent's goal at least 10 yards from its starting point or is carried into the penalty area.

Sane is, of course, now heading towards the later stages of his career but for a 29-year-old Premier League winner on a free transfer, you can't really go wrong here.

It would add trophy-winning experience to the squad and it would provide an additional threat. He's an immediate upgrade on the departing Timo Werner and he's a different sort of right winger to the pacey right-footed Brennan Johnson.

Speaking during Tottenham Hotspur's parade of the Europa League trophy, Ange Postecoglou issued another defiant call.

Earlier in the season, there was the suggestion that he always won something in his second season. Well, that box has been emphatically ticked.

Now, he's hinted that season two is always better than season three. Steady on, Ange, your job isn't even safe, mate.

Despite winning a first major trophy in 17 years, the craggy-faced Australian could still be given his marching orders by Daniel Levy and Co.

Considering they finished 17th on 38 points, that's hardly a surprise.

The latest on Ange Postecoglou's future at Spurs

What a wacky old season that was. Postecoglou referenced in his final post-match press conference a week ago that it had been an "outstanding season".

Outstandingly bizarre, certainly. That Europa League crown is there but their league form was a mess and the Spurs boss could pay the price.

That's according to The Telegraph, who report this weekend that the former Celtic manager's future in north London is set to be decided this week, with his position 'under extreme risk'.

Over the last few days, Levy has not been in the UK while Postecoglou is also away on holiday. As a result, a decision regarding the Aussie's future is still undecided.

Should they give him the boot, then Spurs seemingly have a shortlist of four candidates that includes Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, Thomas Frank and Oliver Glasner.

The report notes that Iraola is set to stay at Bournemouth while after his FA Cup success, prising Glasner away from Crystal Palace will also be difficult.

Thus, the two frontrunners for the job are Silva and Frank, with the Brentford manager specifically said to be 'in the frame'.

How Frank could replicate Pochettino at Spurs

While Ange may have been the one to end Spurs' trophy drought, it's Mauricio Pochettino who is the most legendary figure in these parts of north London.

After all, it was Pochettino who engineered that remarkable run to the Champions League final, only beaten by Liverpool in Madrid.

How did that occur? Well, as far as English football is concerned, it started with Southampton for the Argentine and it went rather similarly to Frank's experience of top-flight football.

Indeed, the Dane has become a legend himself with the Bees finishing 13th in his first Premier League season before steering them to a top-half ninth-placed finish, an unparalleled campaign for Brentford.

He did so by playing entertaining counter-attacking football, while also developing players into some of the finest in the Premier League. Take the duo of Bryan Mbeumo (20 goals) and Yoanne Wissa (19 goals) as examples.

This certainly echoes Pochettino, who after finishing 14th having taken over mid-season in 2012/13, then guided the Saints to their best-ever Premier League finish of eighth in 2013/14. Like Frank, he turned his side from relegation candidates to a top-half club.

Also like Frank, he developed young players brilliantly with the likes of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana really becoming household names at St Mary's. It was then under Poch that Dele Alli enjoyed the finest years of his career.

Similarly to Frank, he also deployed a high and strong press with Southampton. In 2013/14, the Argentine's side had the best pressing metrics in the Premier League.

Brentford are similar in that regard, with their head coach admitting when they got promoted: "We knew it was a big target for us going into the Premier League for us to defend well. I said that we try to do as much as possible to play our style in the Premier League, which is the high pressing going forward."

Well, it's safe to say that's certainly worked with the west Londoners now a firmly established top-flight side.

Tottenham Hotspur are now planning to sell Richarlison, in order to fund a move for an "incredible" £55m star, according to a report.

Richarlison struggling to make an impact at Spurs

The Brazilian's 2024-25 campaign was marred by a number of injury issues, which meant he only managed to make 15 appearances in the Premier League, during which time he provided four goals and one assist.

However, with Dominic Solanke often leading the line, the 28-year-old has found holding down a starting spot very difficult even when fit, often being utilised as a substitute last term, which indicates Spurs can afford to let him move on this summer.

That is exactly what Tottenham are planning to do, according to Football Insider's transfer correspondent, Pete O'Rourke, who said: "With Son staying, Dibling linked, and Richarlison likely to be moved on… there’s got to be some restructuring at Tottenham this summer.

"The domestic campaign was awful… the squad depth and quality has to be addressed and must improve."

The report also states that Spurs plan to sell Richarlison in order to fund a move for Southampton's Tyler Dibling, with the Saints looking to hold out for a fee of £55m for the forward, although the Lilywhites are hopeful a deal can be done for £40m - £45m.

Signing Dibling is said to align with the north Londoners' transfer strategy "perfectly", given that they plan on signing the best youngsters to give them first-team football immediately, in order to make an instant impact.

The Brazilian international's exit could be crucial when it comes to Spurs' ability to compete for the Southampton star's signature, however, given the money it would generate, and Richarlison has previously been linked with a return to Everton.

Dibling could be "incredible" signing for Tottenham

Southampton's 2024-25 campaign was one of the worst in Premier League history, collecting just 12 points across the entire season, but their 19-year-old winger still managed to make a name for himself.

Reporter Alfie House was left particularly enamoured with the youngster, lauding him as an "incredible" player back in November, and he went on to finish the season with four goals and three assists in all competitions.

The Englishman also drew praise from Match of the Day's Danny Murphy, who said: "It is the quality he has got - the belief in himself and the physical power. He just goes past people with ease. He has got a lovely left foot. He is very brave on the ball and his decision-making is good."

With Richarlison falling down the pecking order, it could make sense to cash-in on the forward to fund a move for Dibling this summer, given that he showed some very promising signs during his breakout season at Southampton.

Despite all the misery, the luckless injury bother and the Premier League disaster, finishing 17th, Ange Postecoglou made good on his word and bagged himself a trophy at the end of his second season in the Spurs dugout, thus paving a road into next year's Champions League.

It's been a long time coming, but Tottenham must now ensure they build on their success and sustain a position at the forefront of English football.

Arrivals are expected, but outgoings are also a must if chairman Daniel Levy to to enact real change. Richarlison, despite his part in winning European gold, surely needs to leave in the coming months.

The latest on Richarlison's Spurs exit

Everton have been credited by Sky Sports News with an interest in Richarlison, and it's felt Tottenham would be willing to consider offers in the region of £30m.

There's clearly a talented player in there, with the Brazil forward's rich purple patch in the Premier League last season evidence behind Tottenham's big payment to bring him over from Merseyside.

But with interest in the 28-year-old's services mounting, it might be foolish not to take the money and turn it toward a new player.

Richarlison, then, can bow out as a winner, having played an important part in ending Spurs' trophy hoodoo. However, this feels like the right time for him to move on, for his career down N17 has been marred by persistent injuries and struggles for form.

He's not the only wide forward who needs to move on, though, with Mathys Tel struggling to showcase his burgeoning qualities under Postecoglou's wing.

Why Spurs must get rid of Mathys Tel

Tottenham welcomed Bayern Munich's Tel to the fold in February, bagging the France U21 forward on loan until the end of the season.

Sadly, it's been something of a turbulent ride for the 20-year-old, who was criticised by The Athletic's Jay Harris for his "underwhelming" start to life in London, finishing the campaign with just three goals and an assist from 20 appearances, albeit a Europa League medal too.

Crystal Palace's FA Cup hero Eberechi Eze has been linked by TEAMtalk with a cross-London switch; Tottenham are even believed to be prepared to meet his £68m release clause.

You'd think such a move could spell the end for one of Richarlison or Tel, and that another left-leaning forward would allow Levy and co to part with both.

Tel's six-month loan spell has the option inserted to become permanent at the end of the season, for a fee in the ballpark of £46m.

He's a wonderful talent, for sure, but the question must be raised as to whether this would be a prudent use of resources when the need for instant change is so great.

Tottenham are hoping to bring the Frenchman's price down to £30m, but if they are unable to do so, plans must be focused on using the Richarlison money and the funds clearly available for such an outlay on Tel to sign another top target, such as Palace's Eze.

Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane, who is out of contract this summer, is also being chased by the Lilywhites, and it's clear such players would make a big difference to a youthful squad in need of a blend of experience to finally hit a consistent vein of form and wipe the slate clean.

It was an interminable weight for that trophy-winning feeling, if you're one of a Tottenham Hotspur persuasion, but Ange Postecoglou's side wiped the slate clean when defeating Manchester United in the Europa League final earlier in May.

Currently, it's all a little uncertain. Postecoglou's manager is in an imperilled position, with Daniel Levy's judgement soon to become clear on that front.

Who could dispute Tottenham's woes on Premier League soil, with so much going wrong for Ange's 17th-placed side? It's clear that action must be taken over the next few months to ensure success on the continent doesn't turn out to be a mere flash in the pan.

Sergio Reguilon, Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman will all leave imminently, when their contracts expire, and Timo Werner's two-year loan spell in London is over.

The latest on Spurs' transfer targets

With European hero Cristian Romero being linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, Tottenham may need to sign a centre-back this summer.

The windfall from qualifying for the Champions League is huge, and Tottenham are in a good position to strengthen. If Romero stays, focus will be pinned on midfield and the wide forward positions.

Balancing out the club's attacking quality is important, especially as Heung-min Son, 32, is expected to play fewer minutes across the 2025/25 campaign.

Furthermore, Dejan Kulusevski is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on his right patella, and will be out for several months at the least. This, of course, means the Sweden star's pre-season preparations will be disrupted.

Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze would be a brilliant signing, with rumours of a bid being prepared, but he has a £68m release clause inserted in his contract, and Levy may well want to turn his attention to another England international to help the Lilywhites make gains over the coming years.

Spurs discuss statement signing

According to GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham chairman Levy has held an internal meeting as the club draw up concrete plans for the looming market.

Eze and Manchester City star Jack Grealish have both been discussed, though Grealish might be the more feasible option from a financial standpoint.

Though the £300k-per-week Citizen would represent a tough deal to complete, Levy is committed to capitalising on the jubilation of winning a trophy down N17, and the 29-year-old, valued at an affordable £43m, might just fit the bill.

Grealish might have been ostracised by Pep Guardiola as he prepares to bow out from life at the Etihad Stadium, but he's still one of the most talented Englishmen in the game, hailed by pundit Rio Ferdinand for being "almost unplayable" when on his A-game.

Moving to Tottenham might just give him a new lease of life. Grealish joined Man City from Aston Villa for a British-record £100m fee in August 2021 after a talismanic career with his boyhood club, since going on to win the treble and much more under Pep Guardiola's wing.

Across 157 matches, Grealish has scored 17 goals and supplied 23 assists, though he only started seven matches in the Premier League this term and surely needs to leave Manchester.

Tottenham need some more attacking impetus in midfield. Kulusevski has been the standout this season, posting ten goals and 11 assists from 50 matches. The 25-year-old has been praised by The Athletic for being 'the linchpin of Postecoglou's team.'

But Grealish could enhance the fluency, promote ball-carrying and -playing principles that the club's Australian coach relies upon.

As per FBref, the English star ranks among the top 1% of attacking midfielders and wingers this season for pass completion and progressive carries, the top 12% for progressive passes and the top 8% for shot-creating actions per 90.

Shot-creating actions are pieces of play that lead to a shot. These include moments such as a pass, take-on or foul being drawn.

Such metrics have drawn him against Kulusevski as one of the Tottenham man's most statistically similar players, suggesting he could dovetail right into the Londoners' system.

There's no denying, though, that Grealish has lost some of the original silk from his Villa days, when he was described as a "magician" by former Three Lions star Ashley Cole. Looking at his metrics from his final Premier League campaign in the Midlands against Kulusevski's from this season, you see that Postecoglou could sign himself a new 'linchpin' to add depth and dynamism to the ranks.

Whether we will ever again see this one-time version of Grealish, who was indeed unplayable at times as he bamboozled defenders and picked out teammates with stylish, pinpoint passes, remains to be seen, but there's no question Ange employs a freer, more expansive style than Guardiola, who revolutionised the way possession-based football is conducted but perhaps limits players like Grealish, pidgeonholing them into set roles.

Postecoglou could almost let Grealish run autonomously, take the leash off. Given that he likes to play between central attacking midfield and in a role on the left flank, there's a good chance he'd be a fantastic stylistic fit too, easing Son's burden as rumours of Richarlison's summer sale persist.

There would, of course, be an element of risk to this transfer, and Levy would not facilitate a move without reducing Grealish's staggering £300k-per-week salary, but it could be a somewhat shrewd deal for a player who has fallen from their perch as one of the country's finest.

But he could yet bounce back, joining a Tottenham project that perhaps is only just getting going.

Tottenham Hotspur and chairman Daniel Levy have some key decisions to make in the near future, which even stretch beyond manager Ange Postecoglou.

With Levy yet to fully decide on whether to stick or twist with Postecoglou, following a season of extreme highs to the lowest of lows, the Lilywhites chief will need to commit to a direction soon as we enter the summer transfer window.

Postecoglou's position in the dugout will greatly determine how Spurs tackle their recruitment strategy, and with the first mini-window now upon us - open from June 1 to June 10 - supporters will be eager for the Australian's future to resolved as soon as possible.

There are reports that Levy and technical director Johan Lange have identified targets, with Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze among the players attracting Tottenham's keen interest.

However, it is unlikely they can make any serious moves until they have some clarity regarding Postecoglou, who guided the club to their first major trophy in 17 years but also set a dismal Tottenham record for most Premier League defeats in a single season (22).

It appears an attacker is firmly on the agenda at Spurs, amid links to Eze and Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané, with Spurs chiefs reportedly keen to add more experience to their youthful squad.

"Spurs don't have to sell to buy, with Champions League qualification huge for the club," said Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge in a Q&A, providing some answers on the club's transfer plans.

"All areas, apart from the goalkeeping department, will be looked at. Midfield and forward would be the priority if Cristian Romero stays."

There are many intriguing market opportunities for Spurs to consider, and one of them comes in the form of wantaway £195,000-per-week Chelsea winger Christopher Nkunku.

The France international bagged 14 goals in all competitions under Enzo Maresca last season, despite barely starting, and he can play in a variety of attacking roles - namely on the left-wing, attacking midfield, second striker and as a centre-forward.

Spurs made an enquiry for Nkunku recently, as reported by reliable GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs, so he appears to be a genuine target for Levy.

Now, Chelsea News, a site run by another reliable journalist in Simon Phillips, reports that Tottenham are considering a loan bid for Nkunku with an option to buy the 27-year-old.

The former RB Leipzig star's final price tag could apparently be around £46 million plus bonuses, which would take it to £55 million, but both Spurs and Newcastle are keen to take him on an initial temporary deal before paying anywhere near that amount.

Even though Chelsea would prefer an outright sale, there is an acceptance within Stamford Bridge that they may have to green-light such a move, with the Blues keen to get him off their books.

Nkunku could be an excellent deal for Tottenham given his quality, experience and versatility, with the option of remaining in London also potentially attractive for the player.
