This summer presents a fresh start for Tottenham Hotspur, with Thomas Frank being appointed as the club’s new manager ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Decisions in recent weeks have led to questions being asked of the hierarchy, after Ange Postecoglou was sacked despite winning the Europa League and ending their 17-year wait for a trophy.

Such an achievement was a remarkable one, but their Premier League form, which saw them lose 22 times and finish 17th, ultimately led to the Aussie’s dismissal in North London.

However, the arrival of the former Bees boss offers a new opportunity for fresh impetus within the first-team squad, as they look to build on their recent European triumph.

Frank will undoubtedly want to make the signings he desires to make a positive impact at the club, with numerous players already touted with moves away to free up potential funds this window.

The latest on players who could depart Spurs this summer

Despite starting in the Europa League final back in May, Brazilian forward Richarlison has been touted with multiple moves away from Spurs this summer, looking to recapture his best form, which saw the club fork out £60m for his signature.

The 28-year-old has since been linked with a move to rejoin former side Everton, with Frank potentially wanting to cash in on the attacker to raise money for any future additions.

However, another deal could soon be completed to see centre-back Cristian Romero depart and move to Atlético Madrid, that’s according to one report in Spain.

They claim that the Argentine, who earns £165k-per-week, is pushing for a move to join Diego Simeone’s side, that’s despite Daniel Levy’s desire to keep the defender.

It also states that he sees the LaLiga side as a stepping stone in his career to win titles and compete at the top level on a consistent basis - following in the footsteps of another fan-favourite.

Why Romero could see a repeat of Kane’s departure

Striker Harry Kane was adored by the fanbase during his time at Spurs, rising through the ranks and cementing his place in the first-team, reaching unthinkable levels in the process.

The English international became an important back in 2014/15, a season that would set him up for huge success in North London, being a key threat in the final third for nearly a decade.

He managed to register a total of 280 goals for the Lilywhites, breaking the record for the most goals scored by a player in the club’s history, sitting second in the all-time Premier League top scorer charts.

However, after failing to win a trophy during his stint, he would move to Bayern Munich in an £82m deal back in the summer of 2023, looking to further his career and cement himself as an elite forward.

After winning the Bundesliga back in 2024/25, it’s safe to say he’s made the right call, something which may be a harsh reality for the fanbase, but such a move allowed them to bank a huge profit in the process.

However, such a situation could reoccur this summer, with Romero the latest player who could depart the club to reach the next level and compete for league titles.

The 27-year-old has been a tremendous addition for the club, featuring 124 times since making the move from Atalanta back in August 2021 - often being the spearhead at the heart of the defence.

Undoubtedly, losing the World Cup winner would be a huge blow for new manager Frank, but the subsequent funds raised from such a deal could allow him to make the additions he desires.

Whilst he’s only featured 26 times across all competitions this season, he’s still managed to star, keeping a clean sheet and winning the Man of the Match award in the Europa League final.

No supporter would want to lose such a talent, but ultimately the club shouldn’t stand in the way of a player who wants to depart North London, needing talents who are willing to play a part in the revival.

The next couple of weeks will be interesting for the club and Romero, with the hierarchy needing to negotiate the best deal possible if he is to depart during the off-season.

Tottenham Hotspur have a new manager at the helm in Thomas Frank, though he could now have a decision to make on one of his key stars, according to a report.

Tottenham make Tel second signing under Frank

There were plenty of mixed opinions when Ange Postecoglou was relieved of his duties at Tottenham. He delivered on his promise to bring a trophy to North London, but Daniel Levy couldn't look past the Lilywhites' dismal form in the top flight.

Frank has since been appointed and arrives as a revered figure among many of his Premier League peers. The former Brentford boss released an emotional statement after swapping Hounslow for N17 as he gets to work ahead of pre-season.

He stated: "I want to extend my profound gratitude to the club for giving me the chance to pursue my dreams and for everyone involved who made the journey such a memorable one.

"For my family and I, it has been a privilege to be allowed to be part of such a special community – it’s an experience and adventure that we will cherish for life. So, thank you."

Mathys Tel has been announced as a permanent Tottenham star and has signed until 2031, becoming an early signal of the former Brentford man's transfer intent. Kevin Danso has also joined after his loan spell from RC Lens.

Looking to tempt one of his old flames to work together again, Spurs boss Frank is targeting a move for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, who has reportedly changed his stance on potentially swapping the Gtech Community Stadium for Manchester United amid recent talks.

Jadon Sancho has also been linked with a surprise switch to Spurs. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils would be willing to deal with a direct Premier League rival after his spell at Chelsea.

Making inroads, Frank has now been left with a crucial decision to make after a big-money proposal came to light for one of his established stars.

Tottenham star Son Heung-min has offer to join Fenerbahce

According to reports in Spain, Fenerbahce have tabled a big-money proposal to Tottenham icon Son Heung-min that could see the South Korea international earn around £195,000 per week in Istanbul.

The outlet suggests that a deal between all parties is 'very close' despite nothing being fully set in stone, which could mark the end of an era for the 32-year-old after lifting the Europa League trophy last month following a decade-long wait for silverware.

Admittedly, he did wane during a difficult campaign on a week-to-week basis for the Lilywhites, though he still managed to register 11 goals in 12 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

From a personal perspective, Son bowing out with a winners' medal in-hand would be the perfect way to depart, even if his exit would be an emotional one following his excellent ten years in North London.

Man Utd set to prioritise deal for £65m star if Tottenham sign Mbeumo

Description

Amid concerns that Tottenham Hotspur, led by Thomas Frank, could hijack their move to sign Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United are reportedly prioritising a deal to sign a £65m alternative if they miss out on their top target.

Tottenham meet Mbeumo asking price

Tottenham's appointment of Frank has truly thrown a spanner in the works for Manchester United. It looked as though the Red Devils were alone in the race to sign Mbeumo with Newcastle United conceding defeat. Frank's North London arrival has seemingly changed things, however. The former Brentford boss reportedly wants an instant reunion with his star man and the Lilywhites have already matched his hefty £70m price tag.

The ball could be left in Mbeumo's court to decide, but Man United must first match Spurs' reported offer for the impressive forward. It would undoubtedly be a major blow if they lost out on the Brentford star at this stage and it would be adding salt to their wounds if he chose the side that defeated United in the Europa League final not so long ago.

Mbeumo isn't the only name on United's radar, however. Ruben Amorim will be desperate to revamp a blunt frontline and a move for Viktor Gyokeres could be more realistic than ever now that he's publically fallen out with Sporting Club.

Whether he, like Mbeumo could do, decides to reject a move to Old Trafford is the big question, however. Without European football to offer, United may need to accept the prospect of missing out on their top targets and instead focus on alternatives.

Man Utd will turn to Antoine Semenyo

According to GiveMeSport, Manchester United will now prioritise a move to sign Antoine Semenyo if Tottenham successfully hijack their deal to sign Mbeumo this summer. The Bournemouth forward won't come much cheaper, however, with the Cherries set to demand as much as £65m to sell their star man. Whether it's Mbeumo or Semenyo in the coming months, INEOS must be prepared to spend big.

Whilst the numbers suggest that Semenyo would be a downgrade on Mbeumo, the Bournemouth forward would still be an improvement on Amorim's current options at Old Trafford.

Having scored 11 Premier League goals, Semenyo earned plenty of praise from those at Bournemouth throughout the last campaign, including from teammate Lewis Cook.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank looks increasingly likely to be backed in the transfer market this summer, and moves are already being made behind-the-scenes in the days since his appointment was confirmed.

Spurs have booked their place back in the Champions League for next season after an historic night in Bilbao last month, hoisting the Europa League trophy aloft and suddenly raising expectations for next campaign.

Their qualification for Europe's most prestigious competition has also gifted the Lilywhites a significant financial windfall, which has been described as "huge" when it comes to their summer recruitment drive, with Spurs no longer needing to adopt a 'sell to buy' policy (Michael Bridge).

This comes as a big boost for Frank in particular ahead of his first full season in charge, and it is believed that Tottenham are putting their Champions League riches to good use already as they eye an ambitious move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

The Cameroonian was a star player for Frank last term, scoring 20 goals in all competitions, and Spurs have opened initial talks to tempt Mbeumo with a Brentford exit as they seek to hijack Man United.

Suggestions that Tottenham have already made a £70 million offer for Mbeumo, courtesy of The Mirror, are yet to be backed up, but their interest is crystal clear.

Tottenham really want to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite

While a new attacker is firmly on Frank's agenda, the Dane could also look to strengthen defensively, with Spurs struggling in that department last season thanks to a plethora of injuries to key players.

Radu Dragusin is attracting interest from AC Milan amid Cristian Romero's strong links to Atlético Madrid, so Frank could be left wanting for a new centre-back if either of those transfers come to fruition.

Speaking on the London is Blue podcast, Telegraph journalist Matt Law has claimed that Spurs are big fans of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Toffees starlet is fresh off the back of yet another impressive campaign, and Law "keeps hearing" that Tottenham are "very" keen on Branthwaite.

“I keep hearing that Tottenham are very interested in Branthwaite, and everybody thinks his fee at the moment is too high,” Law said.

“So, I don’t think Chelsea are active on Branthwaite, but you never know. They’ve clearly looked at him, but I think someone like Hato at the moment is more likely. But that left side is more likely than right side currently.”

The England international actually bagged a memorable 94th-minute equaliser against Spurs in February 2024, and was voted both Everton's Players' Player and Supporters' Young Player of the Season.

Branthwaite is widely regarded for his aerial prowess, composure on the ball, and exceptional maturity at just 22-years-old, with his snub from the Three Lions squad for Euro 2024 still coming as a pretty controversial decision from Gareth Southgate.

The towering 6-foot-4 defender is arguably the epitome of a 'modern day' centre-half — comfortable in possession, strong defensively, and capable of wreaking havoc from set pieces.

He'd be the perfect replacement for Romero, but chairman Daniel Levy will almost certainly need to break Tottenham's transfer record to get him over the line.

Incredible Mbeumo alternative: Spurs considering big move for £47m PL star - Football FanCast
Description

Tottenham Hotspur salvaged their season in the most glorious fashion last month, beating Manchester United in the Europa League final to end 17 agonising years of searching for silverware.

However, it wasn't enough to save Ange Postecoglou, who Daniel Levy dismissed at the start of the month following a wretched Premier League season that concluded with Spurs completing a miserable 17th-place finish.

But with Thomas Frank brought in to replace the Aussie, there's hope yet that Tottenham can use the past year as a springboard for future success, having already targeted Bryan Mbeumo, who is expected to leave Brentford this summer and has expressed a preference to go to Old Trafford, although Spurs' new manager could tempt him to change direction.

It's the kind of signing that simply wouldn't have been possible had Tottenham failed to clinch the Europa League. But now, the door is very much open for what would be a marquee move.

Why Spurs want Bryan Mbeumo

Mbeumo has truly established himself as one of the most threatening forwards in the Premier League, vital for Frank's side's success over the past several years.

His shooting marks the most salient part of his skill set, for sure, but Spurs would also be getting their hands on a dynamic and layered player who, as per Sofascore, created 17 big chances in the league, and averaged 1.3 tackles and 4.7 successful duels per game.

Brennan Johnson holds down the fort on the Tottenham right wing, but for all the Welshman's potency in the final third, he's shown to drift in and out of games, his influence waning all too often.

As such, a player like Mbeumo would prove a marked improvement, someone refined and talismanic who could serve as a leader and an example to follow.

However, while Tottenham will be buoyed by Mbeumo's supposed change of stance in considering their offer now that Frank is at the helm, it would be foolish to put all their eggs in one basket after he previously made it clear that he wants to move to Old Trafford.

The Cameroonian has proved himself to be one of the most prolific forwards on English shores, but if he does opt to become a Red Devil, the Lilywhites may have found the perfect alternative.

Spurs lining up another Premier League forward

As per Caught Offside, Tottenham have been scouting Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert, with the report stating that the Londoners are currently weighing up an official offer.

Curiously, Man United are also interested in signing the Netherlands international, clearly following a similar train of thought as Spurs. Arsenal and Liverpool are also in the mix.

Bournemouth don't want to sell their dynamic attacker but would, of course, for the right price, with that tag seemingly set at around €55m (£47m), although it remains to be seen whether or not Spurs would be willing to meet their demands.

Why Spurs want Justin Kluivert

Kluivert has proven himself across two seasons as being worthy Premier League material, instrumental for Bournemouth across their impressive campaign under Andoni Iraola's wing.

Tenacious and technically talented, Kluivert, 26, brings a dribble-centric game that has been refined to establish him as one of the most impressive goalscorers in English football, scoring 12 times in the division last season.

The exciting part is that he is clinical with his chances, thus proving he could be the perfect Mbeumo alternative, with Frank labelling his star Brentford forward as being "unplayable" at times.

There's no question that the Dutchman has gone up a gear over the past year, and who's to say that he wouldn't raise his game once again under Frank's wing down N17?

Kluivert has truly become one of the most dangerous shooters in the Premier League, so economical and precise with his finishing, capable of drifting into space from close or indeed firing from range.

As per FBref, Kluivert actually finished the 2024/25 Premier League campaign ranked among the top 6% of attacking midfielders and wingers for goals and assists per 90 (0.69), which even led to him being considered a player of statistical likeness to Mbeumo.

Though Mbeumo is a right-sided forward, and Kluivert tends to operate in a central attacking midfield berth, the Cherries man has been singled out for his pace and energy in the past and indeed has a wealth of experience on the flanks, scoring 55 goals and providing 47 assists across 221 career appearances out wide.

Moreover, he's been hailed for his "incredible" finishing this season by writer Ifreke Inyang, scoring Premier League hat-tricks against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United.

If Frank can get the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison performing at the top of their respective playmaking games, Kluivert could find himself reaching even loftier tallies than he has so far achieved.

The versatile forward's vibrant, physical style suggests he could be the perfect Mbeumo alternative, still providing Tottenham with exciting new qualities while playing in such a way that could see Frank turn him into his new version of Mbeumo.

It's the kind of shrewd signing that might just see Tottenham go from strength to strength.

Summary

Tottenham have appointed Thomas Frank as their new manager to replace Ange Postecoglou.

Daniel Levy could splash the cash following Spurs' qualification for the Champions League.

Three Premier League stars and a Denmark international have been backed to move to north London.

It’s fair to say that Tottenham Hotspur have had an eventful end to the season. Spurs finally ended their 17-year wait for a trophy by winning the Europa League, however, Daniel Levy then decided to sack Ange Postecoglou following a 17th place finish in the Premier League.

The search for a new manager in north London led Spurs to Thomas Frank, with the Danish coach arriving as Postecoglou’s permanent successor at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

With Champions League football on offer following the Europa League triumph, Spurs will have plenty of funds available to them as they look to back Frank in the summer transfer market.

One deal that has already gone through is Kevin Danso’s loan move becoming permanent for more than £20m, but who could join the Austrian through the door over the coming months?

Well, Grok, the AI tool on X, has already predicted four summer signings Tottenham and Levy could make to bolster Frank’s squad, totalling £250m.

Crystal Palace (£80m)

Starting at the back, Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi could be a wanted man again this summer following rumours of a move to Newcastle United last summer.

The Magpies are still being linked with Guehi, but so are Tottenham, with claims suggesting Guehi was keen to hold talks with Spurs following their Europa League win.

Spurs had a £70m offer rejected for Guehi in January, but Grok estimate a cost in the region of £80m would get a deal done. They also add Guehi ‘would provide defensive stability and leadership in defence, allowing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to rotate or play in a back three’.

Sporting CP (£50m)

Another midfielder could be on Frank’s wishlist ahead of the 25/26 season, and Sporting CP star Morten Hjulmand is another predicted signing.

A fellow Dane, there were claims earlier in 2025 that Spurs were set to make a bid for Hjulmand this summer, amid interest from rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.

Protected by a €80m (£69m) release clause in his contract, Grok thinks a deal could work at £50m due to Sporting’s willingness to negotiate, adding Hjulmand ‘would complement Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur’.

Crystal Palace (£70m)

Alongside Guehi, Spurs are also showing an active interest in another Crystal Palace star - Eberechi Eze.

The scorer of the Eagles’ FA Cup final winner against Manchester City, Eze is a player of interest to Frank, who has reportedly been urging Levy to sign for Tottenham when in talks to take over in north London.

Grok feels a deal could be worth £70m and say ‘Eze’s flair and goalscoring ability would add star quality, reducing reliance on James Maddison and supporting Dominic Solanke’.

Bournemouth (£50m)

The final predicted Spurs signing by Grok is Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, who has been heavily linked with Tottenham in the early stages of the summer window.

There have been claims that Levy and co have personally held talks with Semenyo’s representatives over a Tottenham transfer, with Grok believing a fee could be worth up to £50m.

AI also adds that Semenyo ‘could provide depth and competition for Heung-min Son and Wilson Odobert’ and that his ‘ability to play across the front three offers tactical flexibility’.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is ready to tackle his first-ever campaign as a Champions League coach after finally sealing a high-profile move to a 'big six' side, with the Dane's private assessment of his new squad now coming to light.

Thomas Frank confirmed as new Tottenham manager

Following many productive years at Brentford, Frank sealed a switch to Spurs earlier this week as Ange Postecoglou's immediate replacement, just days after the club announced chairman Daniel Levy's tough decision to sack the Australian.

Postecoglou guided the Lilywhites to their first major trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League on a famous night against Man United in Bilbao, but Spurs cited their woeful domestic form as the catalyst behind his dismissal.

The north Londoners lost a record-breaking 22 Premier League games under Postecoglou last season and finished just one place above the relegation zone, with Levy showcasing ruthlessness over the emotion surrounding their European triumph by firing Frank's predecessor.

Yet another new era has now begun at Spurs with Frank's arrival, and the 51-year-old has now become their fifth manager since Mauricio Pochettino's exit in 2019.

"Thomas is very personal with the players," Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard told BBC Radio 5 Live, telling Spurs supporters what they can expect.

"He cares a lot about how we are and how we feel. It's a very important quality for a manager to have.

"Not every manager has it, and the ones that do seem to have more success. He's definitely a leader and someone who guides us. He's done a fantastic job in the years that I've worked with him at Brentford."

However, pundit Chris Sutton believes Levy has taken a major gamble on his appointment.

"Thomas Frank has done a brilliant job at Brentford, but this is a whole different kettle of fish," said Sutton.

"Because of the expectation at Tottenham, Frank won't get time to get his feet under the table. He will be under pressure from the off. Postecoglou has just won them their first major European trophy for 41 years and has gone. So already you have to wonder what does Frank need to do this season to keep his job?

"The aim for Frank will be to keep them in the Champions League, and whether that is by making the top four or five, that is not going to be easy."

Amid reports that Frank is looking to sign Bryan Mbeumo to upgrade his Tottenham squad, journalist Graeme Bailey has shared what the tactician really thinks of his current team.

What Thomas Frank privately thinks about Tottenham's squad

According to the reporter, who spoke to The Boot Room this week, there is a feeling that Frank is privately thrilled with his options at Tottenham, even if they're reportedly battling Man United for Mbeumo right now.

"Spurs think there is a need for another player on the right," said Bailey.

“But, from what I am told, the belief at Spurs is that Frank is a fan of this squad. They think he will love working with it – someone like Brennan Johnson is going to love playing for Frank."

The Scandinavian has bigger names to manage than ever before, and away from the lack of pressure at mid-table Brentford, far more eyes will be on how Frank does at N17.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed revelling in the triumph of lifting the Europa League and restoring their place among Europe's elite next term, but Daniel Levy's decision to fire Ange Postecoglou highlights the hunger to sustain an even loftier level of success over the coming years.

With Thomas Frank snatched from Brentford to lead from the dugout, Spurs are in a good position to challenge at the top end of the Premier League once more, though summer signings will be needed to inject fresh quality within a tired squad, whose success has papered over what was a most difficult year indeed.

Antoine Semenyo's name has been bandied about, but there's one man above all others who Tottenham's new manager would like to welcome to the fold.

Earlier this week, Sky Sports revealed that Tottenham have been growing in confidence that they could sign Bryan Mbeumo this summer after initial discussions, having made contact with Brentford, despite the player's preference to join Man United.

This is because the Londoners have appointed Frank, who has led Mbeumo to such impressive individual heights over the past couple of years.

And now, as per transfer insider Graeme Bailey, the Lilywhites believe that Champions League football and the chance for the 25-year-old to stay in London could play into their favour.

Mbeumo won't come cheap after his exceptional season, with the Bees looking to bank around £60m for the right-sided forward.

What Bryan Mbeumo would bring to Spurs

Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland. Perhaps the Premier League's three finest goalscorers. They were the only players to outscore Mbeumo last season, with Ipswich Town writer Alex Osborn hailing him as "one of the best wingers in the league."

Not only has Mbeumo dazzled in front of goal, but he's performed well across underlying areas. As per Sofascore, the Cameroon international averaged 1.8 key passes, 1.4 dribbles, and 4.7 successful duels last term, underscoring a roundedness that most goalscorers don't boast.

His prolific style surely makes him a better pick than Semenyo, who is a fantastic player but would cost Tottenham in excess of £50m and only scored 11 goals in the Premier League last year, also racking up six assists across his 37 appearances.

Make no mistake, Semenyo is a talented winger who would have a big effect on reorienting Tottenham's domestic form and fluency, but can he compete with Mbeumo, who is objectively one of the classiest stars in front of goal?

The Bournemouth man ranked among the top 5% of attacking midfielders and wingers in the English top flight last year for shots taken, as per FBref, but only among the top 27% for goals scored per 90, with his efforts leading the data-driven site to draw up Mbeumo as one of his most comparable players.

If that is the case (and there are similarities: both players are physical and dynamic and potent across different positions), then surely the best track to go down would be to sign the more reliable and menacing player in front of goal.

Therefore, Mbeumo is surely the better pick to go for, especially when considering the kind of money that Bournemouth are looking to part with Semenyo.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set for a crucial summer transfer window ahead of Thomas Frank's first full season in charge of the club.

Spurs will absolutely have to reinforce their young and inexperienced squad as they gear up for Champions League football and the hectic fixture calendar that comes with it, following a 2024/2025 campaign blighted by a plethora of injuries to key players.

Ange Postecoglou chose to throw all of his eggs into the Europa League basket, a decision which ultimately paid off, with the Australian ending Spurs' 17-year wait for a major trophy on a memorable night in Bilbao last month.

However, their dismal Premier League form, which saw Tottenham record 22 top-flight defeats and a 17th-place finish, resulted in Postecoglou losing his job and Frank coming into take over from the now-unemployed 59-year-old.

The Lilywhites are already working to back Frank with key additions to his new squad, with Spurs holding initial talks over signing Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, a player who the Dane knows very well from their time together at the Gtech Community Stadium.

There are even reports that Tottenham have made a £70 million offer for Mbeumo as they bid to hijack Man United's deal for the Cameroonian (The Mirror), but this is yet to gain traction among other reliable media sources.

What's confirmed is Spurs' talks over signing Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich, with their sporting director, Max Eberl, telling Abendzeitung München that discussions are indeed ongoing.

Frank wants to keep the Frenchman at N17, and the tactician will have a clear idea of the other players he'd rather hold onto in his new role as Tottenham boss.

Cristian Romero has attracted serious interest from Atletico Madrid, and the Argentine would be a significant loss for Frank, while uncertainty also surrounds the future of club captain Son Heung-min.

Tottenham to consider "lucrative" offer for Son Heung-min

The South Korean's deal expires next year after Levy elected to trigger the one-year extension clause in his terms earlier this year, but despite the little time remaining on his contract, it is reported in Asia that Spurs' chairman will demand as much as £50 million to sell Son this summer.

Son is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, who've reportedly held talks with the 32-year-old's representatives, and journalist Pete O'Rourke has told Football Insider that Levy will consider a "lucrative offer" to sell the forward.

"There’s potential something could happen early in the window,” he said.

“There is growing interest from the Saudi Pro League, and the South Korea international is now going into the final year of his contract at Tottenham. If Tottenham are ready to cash in on Son, this is their last opportunity to get a decent fee for him.

“Thomas Frank will want to have some say over what’s going to happen. He’s a legend at Tottenham, he’s been there for a decade now and he captained them to Europa League success.

“I think, ideally, Frank would like to keep Son because he doesn’t want to lose his club captain just after taking over the new job. He still has something to offer Tottenham, but if a lucrative offer does arrive it’s something they will consider due to his age and contract situation.”

The former Bayer Leverkusen star was a bargain signing from the Bundesliga this time 10 years ago, and gifting the club £50 million would be an ideal way to end his long tenure at Spurs, if Saudi sides decide they can stump up that level of fee.

Son would also sign-off on his Tottenham career after winning a major trophy, which would be a fairytale end for him.

Promotion up to the Premier League will surely be Ryan Mason's main, intimidating task when he shortly steps into the West Bromwich Albion dug-out.

After all, Regis Le Bris managed to guide Sunderland up to the promised land during his debut campaign at the Sunderland helm, meaning the 33-year-old will be hoping that the good luck that rubbed off on the Frenchman comes his way too.

He would love to use his Tottenham Hotspur connections to feel more comfortable in his new surroundings. Indeed, rumours continue to swirl that Mason could soon add North London starlet Mikey Moore to his ranks on loan this summer.

West Brom's ongoing pursuit of Moore

Of course, adding Moore to the camp would be an exciting purchase to kick off Mason's new regime.

The 17-year-old Spurs attacking prodigy will surely be champing at the bit to test himself out on loan away from his boyhood employers, considering a bumper 36 goals and assists combined have now come his way in the U18 and U21 ranks.

He even broke his senior duck last season when galloping forward in the Europa League up against Elfsborg, with the challenges of the Championship now his potential next onward destination to strut his stuff even more.

However, it could be argued that the Baggies aren't in desperate need of reinforcements down either the left or right wing - which is where Moore predominantly operates - with both Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston top-drawer options on these flanks already. Between them, the entertaining duo can boast 41 goal contributions and counting in the second tier.

Therefore, adding in the teenage sensation might not be deemed the most urgent priority, irrespective of Moore's familiarity with Mason.

On the other hand, swooping in for some centre-back reinforcements will be judged as a must, with this new, defensive colossus potentially West Brom's chosen target.

The defender who could be a better signing than Moore

West Brom's transfer activity this time around is already playing out like their business from last summer, with centre-back brute Semi Ajayi allowed to leave the Hawthorns for nothing, much like Cedric Kipre before him.

With Mason Holgate also only on the Baggies' books on loan, that leaves the potential promotion chasers light on numbers in this department, which is where Liverpool titan Nathaniel Phillips, who has been linked with a move to the club, could come to the rescue.

Whilst Phillips has impressed infrequently for the Reds - as seen in his impressive tally of seven clean sheets from 17 Premier League clashes - it's his expertise of the Championship when chucked out on loan away from Anfield that will instantly stick out for Mason and Co, with this headed effort last campaign for Derby County just one key contribution he managed during his memorable loan stint.

In total, the one-time Premier League title winner has now amassed 67 appearances at the daunting level, with his tag as a "monster", as he was once labelled by Jurgen Klopp, clear for all to see last season when bravely battling away for the relegation-threatened Rams.

Indeed, the £45k-per-week powerhouse would end his sterling season with six duels won on average across his 32 Championship clashes. To add context, the departing Ajayi would only win 3.3 himself across the same period.

Therefore, adding in the "intelligent" Phillips - as Klopp also glowingly described him - could really enhance Mason's defensive options as he goes about building a promotion-worthy team.

Whereas, when it comes to the promising Moore, there's no guarantee he would instantly upset the apple cart at the Hawthorns on his arrival and push into the first team mix, which is why Phillips would be an even better signing.
