Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 West Ham United: Spurs edge West Ham in Martin Ho’s first game in charge - OneFootball
Description

Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their WSL season by narrowly defeating West Ham in a cagey London derby.

It was a successful start for new Spurs manager Martin Ho, who took charge for the first time in a competitive match.

Spurs recalled Kit Graham from her lengthy extended injury absence, and new recruit Toko Koga impressed on her league debut.

As it happened

Tottenham Hotspur began brightly, winning a succession of early corners, but neither side were able to fashion clear-cut chances. Despite numerous shots from range, only one shot on target was recorded in the first 45 minutes.

West Ham’s second half began badly as goalkeeper Kinga Szemik left the pitch injured and was substituted for Megan Walsh in the 56th minute. Soon after Ffion Morgan came on in her first match for the visitors. Meanwhile, Cathinka Tandberg came on for Spurs following her summer move from Hammarby.

For Tottenham Hotspur, Kit Graham had the comfort of home support as she returned from injury. Olga Ahtinen and Lenna Gunning-Williams arrived to shake the attack up. Koga impressed at the other end with her pace and composure, providing the defence with a stability that had far too often been lacking last season.

West Ham made further alterations, yet it was Spurs who hit late. It came in the 85th minute when West Ham’s captain Katrina Gorry brought down Eveliina Summanen inside the box. Captain Bethany England converted the penalty with a decisive right-footed strike into the far corner.

Tottenham stayed resolute in stoppage time, with England coming off for Charlie Grant in the 98th minute, and held on to confirm the three points in front of 1,735 fans.

Spurs star Udogie sets sights on ‘dream’ of playing for Italy at World Cup - OneFootball
Description

Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has revealed his ‘dream’ to play with Italy at the World Cup, after admitting ‘it was a blow’ to miss the European Championships last summer.

Speaking in a lengthy interview with VivoAzzurroTV, with quotes via TMW, Udogie opened by explaining how his footballing journey began: “I was at a tournament in Nogara, where I lived, and there were several scouts – from Atalanta, Milan and Hellas Verona. I remember the one from Atalanta stopped my coach and asked how old I was. He replied that I was born in 2002 and the scout didn’t believe it was because I was already a bit bigger than the other guys. My father had to show him my documents and told him I was born here in Italy – and then he believed it! [Laughs]”

Udogie’s youth career began with Hellas Verona in 2017 – where he spent four years before his move to Udinese. Udogie made just six Serie A appearances with the Veronese side before moving to Udinese on loan with an obligation to buy. After spending just one season with Udinese, Premier League side Spurs snapped up the full-back for €20 million – immediately loaning him back to the Udine side for another season.

Spurs lifted the Europa League in 2024-25, beating fellow Premier League side Manchester United in the final in Bilbao. When asked about the victory, Udogie said “Yes, it’s my first trophy. Winning something so big is an incredible feeling because it’s every child’s dream when they start playing. When you play football, you want to represent your country, and I’ve always dreamed of playing for the national team – doing it in big stadiums in front of your fans!”

Udogie’s dream of playing for Italy on the biggest stages was brutally delayed due to an injury he suffered in his first full season with Tottenham, missing out on last summer’s European Championships where reigning champions Italy were knocked out by Switzerland in the Round of 16.

When asked how it felt to miss the EUROs, Udogie said that “It was a real blow because everything was going so well – both with Tottenham and the national team. Of course, you want to play at the Euros, it’s a major tournament and you want to be there with the squad. I had a leg problem, I had surgery and, yeah, it hurts. But I believe everything happens for a reason, so I reacted calmly and just kept going.”

Finally, Udogie was asked what it would mean to play at the World Cup: “It would be more than a dream. As a kid, you watch the TV and think ‘one day I want to be there!’ Now that I have the chance to get there, I think of it as a goal more than a dream. I really want it to happen and I want to experience it to the fullest!”

Manor Solomon Makes Summer Intentions Clear as Tottenham Face Key Decision

Manor Solomon’s loan spell at Leeds United has ended on a high – and quite literally so. The Israeli international delivered one of the defining moments of the Championship season by scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Plymouth, sealing Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League as champions. His jubilant celebration, shirt off and arms raised in front of the travelling fans, captured not only the emotion of the moment but the strong bond Solomon has formed with the Elland Road faithful.

Solomon’s contribution across the campaign has been nothing short of outstanding: 10 goals, 13 assists in 41 appearances. More than just numbers, his flair, work rate and ability to produce in clutch moments have made him a cult hero among Leeds fans. As Football London reported, he was “seen enjoying himself in front of the away end at Plymouth… dancing in front of the fans and even starting chants.” That kind of chemistry is not easy to find or replicate elsewhere.

The social media aftermath was equally telling. “Champions babyyyyyy,” Solomon wrote on Instagram. Leeds teammate Pascal Struijk added fuel to the speculation with his comment: “Sign him up.”

Spurs Contract and Uncertain Future

Solomon is still a Tottenham player, contracted until 2028. But with his parent club in a state of flux and his own stock rising fast, the question now looms: where does his future lie?

Tottenham must soon weigh up their options. Solomon’s January comments to The Athletic remain highly relevant: “I love it here. I love the fans. I love the club. I love the players, the manager… The door is really open.” His affection for Leeds appears genuine, but with reported interest from other Premier League sides and abroad, Tottenham might not be the only club making decisions this summer.

As Football London noted, “Solomon would certainly consider a move to Leeds if they got promoted.” That condition is now met. The ball, however, is still firmly in Spurs’ court.

Managerial Uncertainty Adds Complexity

An additional layer of uncertainty comes from the Tottenham dugout. Ange Postecoglou’s own future is reportedly under review, and that could have a direct bearing on Solomon’s. A new manager may either integrate him into their system or look to move him on.

This potential reset at Spurs means all returning loanees will be evaluated afresh. A pre-season role could await Solomon, but whether that translates into sustained first-team involvement is another matter entirely.

Football London highlights that “any new head coach might want to look at Solomon first before deciding on the future for a player who has a contract until 2028.” For now, Solomon remains in limbo.

What Spurs Should Consider

From Tottenham’s perspective, the decision is tactical as well as financial. Do they hold on to a revitalised and now Premier League-proven asset, or capitalise on his form with a sale that could bring in valuable funds?

Leeds will surely push to keep him, and for good reason. He’s a player who not only fits Daniel Farke’s system but also embodies the spirit of a team determined to re-establish itself in the top flight.

But Solomon’s resurgence could also make him a wildcard weapon for Tottenham – particularly if Postecoglou (or any incoming manager) sees value in integrating a dynamic winger with proven final-third quality.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From a Spurs supporter’s lens, the Manor Solomon situation is a classic case of ‘what could have been’ – but doesn’t have to remain so.

Let’s not forget: when Solomon first arrived at Tottenham, he came with real pedigree from Shakhtar Donetsk and Fulham. Injury issues hampered his progress in North London, but his time at Leeds has reaffirmed what he can do when fit and firing.

There’s an argument that letting him go permanently – especially now that he’s adapted so seamlessly to English football – would be short-sighted. In a squad that has often lacked natural width and creativity on the flanks, Solomon might yet offer exactly what Tottenham need: incisive dribbling, direct running and moments of individual brilliance.

However, fans will also understand that football is a business. If Leeds come forward with a competitive bid and Solomon himself is keen to stay, it might be best to sanction the move and reinvest the proceeds. But that decision must be made based on football merit, not just balance sheet maths.

Crucially, if Postecoglou does remain, his voice should be the loudest in the room. His vision must dictate whether Solomon stays, not circumstance or expedience.

Liverpool on Brink of Glory as Gary Neville Predicts ‘Barbaric’ Spurs Beating

It’s not just a title on the line for Liverpool this weekend — it’s the chance to crown a season of remarkable transformation with a statement of dominance. And if Gary Neville’s blunt forecast is to be believed, Tottenham Hotspur could be the unfortunate supporting act in a moment of Anfield euphoria.

Neville, never one to pull punches, painted a grim picture for Spurs ahead of their trip to Liverpool. “A procession. It will be barbaric,” he warned. “I think it will be 4-1. Liverpool will score four. It will be one of those celebratory [afternoons].”

Tottenham’s recent Premier League form — five losses in seven — only fuels such expectations. As Arsenal’s midweek slip against Crystal Palace fades from memory, Liverpool know a win on Sunday edges them even closer to a second Premier League crown and a first under Arne Slot.

Slot’s Quiet Revolution Turns Doubters into Believers

Replacing Jürgen Klopp was never going to be straightforward. But Arne Slot, with calm clarity and an emphasis on continuity, has managed to sidestep the chaos that often follows a managerial icon’s departure.

Even Neville concedes he underestimated the Dutchman: “None of us can rewrite history,” he said on The Gary Neville Podcast. “I don’t think there were many Liverpool fans who thought they could win the league, let alone anybody else.

“I don’t remember any pundit, analyst, journalist or fan saying that Liverpool will win the league. It was Man City or Arsenal. To do what they have done is very special and there’s nothing like being at Anfield, next Sunday, knowing you’ve got a game for the title with ones to spare.”

Slot hasn’t reinvented the wheel — but he’s polished the rims. Under his guidance, Liverpool have rediscovered fluency, cutting edge, and a defensive solidity that had faded in the final Klopp months.

Tottenham’s Dilemma: Damage Limitation or Defiant Upset?

While some may dream of a dramatic upset handing Arsenal a lifeline, Tottenham fans will be more concerned about avoiding humiliation. The North Londoners, battered by inconsistency, could do with resolve more than romance.

And yet, there’s a sting of narrative irony. Ange Postecoglou, a boyhood Liverpool fan, might witness his boyhood club clinch the title at his team’s expense — a poetic twist or a painful dagger, depending on your lens.

Spurs won’t have to offer a guard of honour just yet, but they might be forced into a long, sobering walk back down the tunnel as Anfield roars with anticipation of glory.

Looking Ahead to Stamford Bridge Showdown

Should Liverpool seal the title this weekend, Chelsea may face the ignominy of clapping them onto the pitch at Stamford Bridge. That would complete a symbolic loop — one London club humbled, another compelled to acknowledge a new champion.

For Liverpool, all eyes are on the job at hand. For Tottenham, it’s a case of survival — not in the table, but in the headlines.
