Pochettino to attend Tottenham v Atletico clash in Spain - OneFootball
Description

Tottenham Hotspur take on Atletico Madrid today, and former Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino will be in attendance, according to The Athletic.

The 54-year-old has been linked with a return to Tottenham, where he enjoyed a successful five-year spell.

Spurs find themselves in real danger of getting relegated, and interim boss Igor Tudor must turn the tide soon to avoid the unthinkable.

If he does manage to steady the ship, many fans want Pochettino back at the club, but it is unclear whether it will happen.

At the moment, Pochettino remains in charge of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), at least until the 2026 World Cup.

He will be at Atletico’s stadium in that capacity to watch Johnny Cardoso, interestingly, a player who could have joined Spurs last summer.

Tottenham had a clause in the deal that sent Giovani Lo Celso from North London to Real Betis, giving them a shot at Cardoso, but he joined Atletico.

The American international took time to get going but has looked the part in recent games, and Pochettino will be there to keep an eye on his success.

However, Tottenham must resist the pull of nostalgia.

Pochettino’s first spell will always hold a special place in the club’s history, but football moves quickly.

Spurs cannot afford to look backwards while trying to rebuild their future.

The modern game demands fresh ideas, tactical innovation, and a manager capable of developing young talent within a new framework.

There are exciting coaches on the market who embody that forward-thinking approach.

Managers such as Francesco Farioli and Roberto De Zerbi represent the new generation, progressive, tactically flexible, and unafraid to reshape teams.

Tottenham need that kind of energy. Sentimentality should not drive the club’s next decision.

Spurs must be bold, embrace modern coaching philosophies, and appoint a manager who can take them back to where they believe they belong, at the top end of the table.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Leading The Race For This West Ham United Talent: Good Fit For Spurs? - OneFootball
Description

In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for West Ham United talent Crysencio Summerville. It is understood that Spurs are facing competition in the form of Aston Villa, Brentford, Everton, Bournemouth and other European clubs in the race to land the Dutch wide player.

Summerville’s Impressive Record In English Football

Summerville is having a decent campaign at the East London club as he has produced a series of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 24-year-old has scored seven goals and secured four assists in 26 matches for West Ham this season across all competitions.

The Dutch talent is currently among the best wingers in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no surprise that Spurs are hoping to get a deal done for him this summer.

His current contract at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Tottenham to snap him up this off-season.

Is Summerville A Good Fit For Tottenham Hotspur?

Summerville is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to create some inviting chances in the final third and can strike the ball with power from long range. Summerville is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger if needed.

The Dutch sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham.

We can expect Summerville to add more firepower to Spurs head coach Thomas Frank’s frontline. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the London club in the coming years.

At 24, Summerville has got his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Spurs’ needs in the summer transfer window. He will also help the North London club get back to challenging for one of the European spots in the Premier League over the next few seasons. Thus, it makes sense for Tottenham to go all out to bring Summervile on board later this year.

Tottenham turmoil and relegation peril

The Champions League round of 16 could prove a welcome distraction for a Tottenham Hotspur team that, with nine domestic matches left, sit just one point above the relegation zone and in danger of losing their Premier League status for the first time. Indeed from a pre-season price of 500/1 to go down, they are now just 7/4 to be playing Championship football next season.

Things are looking really bleak for Tottenham. They are the only Premier League side without a victory in 2026 and their 11-match winless league run is their longest since 1975. Their previous worst was a club record 16 games without a win in 1935. Their last league victory came in December, and since 7 January they've only been ahead in matches for a combined 13 minutes.

This Spurs side is setting unenviable streaks left, right and centre as since the start of last season only Wolves (20) have lost more home Premier League games than Spurs (19). They have conceded at least two goals in their last nine league matches - the first time ever in their history.

No new manager bounce for Spurs

Igor Tudor was supposed to come in and hit the ground running, but he has lost all three of his matches in charge by an aggregate score of 3-9. Since he arrived, Spurs are bottom of the league for goals conceded, expected goals conceded and points.

It's a small sample size but the underlying figures are not pretty. Compared to Thomas Frank's reign, they are conceding 3.2 more shots per-game (15.7 versus 12.5) and as a result are conceding 0.59 more xG per-game (2.04 v 1.54). Tudor has struggled to settle on a consistent formation having played all of a 3-4-3, 4-4-2 and 3-5-2 so far.

Atletico odds-on favourites to qualify against Spurs

Looking at the outright market, Atletico Madrid are 14/1 and Tottenham are just 22/1 - the same price as Chelsea and Newcastle. Atletico are 2/5 to qualify with Spurs 15/8, with the winners facing either Barcelona or Newcastle in the quarter-finals.

Considering the match odds, many might consider Atletico at 4/9 as a open goal given Spurs' woes but this is a side that finished just 14th in the league phase and had to win a two-legged play-off round to get here. Looking at Atleti's home odds this year against Spanish opposition makes for interesting reading:

Are Spurs a similar level or worse than those sides? I think right now the answer is the former meaning there's little value in backing the home side at the odds.

Best bet for Atletico Madrid v Tottenham

The best bet for me is to back goals. Fifteen of Atletico's last 24 games across all competitions have seen three or more goals (63%), including 10 of their recent 13. For Spurs, we know Igor Tudor's first three games have all seen Over 2.5 goals, and further back it's 18 of their last 25 providing winners (72%).

Long gone are the days of cagey Champions League football for Atleti under Diego Simeone with the Rojiblancos seeing nine of their 10 games in the competition this season registering Over 2.5 goals at a total of 43 goals - an average of 4.3 goals per-game, those are equivalent odds of just 1.25 for three or more goals. Tudor's managerial career is littered with goals at clubs where he's managed 15 games or more.

Over 2.5 goals pays 1.74 and to put that price into perspective, six of the other seven matches have much shorter odds at an average of just 1.57.

Now an alternative way to back goals, and at a bigger price, is to side with Both Teams to Score at 1.86, especially with us technically only needing two goals rather than three for a winner. My issue here however, is we want to oppose Spurs really given their predicament, and by backing Overs we're not reliant on both sides contributing which is useful in one sided games.

It comes down to choice and which you're more comfortable with but you need to be consistent in your decision making and when backing goals I don't mind where they come from. After all, Atletico may see this an excellent opportunity to put the tie to bed in the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano for a side that put four past Barcelona here in the first-half alone.

Description

Reports in Italy claim that Juventus are interested in a potential summer transfer for Tottenham Hotspur and former Genoa defender Djed Spence as the Bianconeri draw up a list of targets to strengthen their full-back position.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, full-back is among the priority positions for Juventus to strengthen during the off-season. There have been recent links between the Bianconeri and Italy hopeful Michael Kayode at Brentford, and also with Roma’s Zeki Celik, who could become available on a free transfer.

According to Monday’s reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the latest name on the wishlist is Tottenham right-back Spence, who knows Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini from their time together at Genoa.

Ottolini brought Spence to Genoa on loan with an option to buy, around the same time that Radu Dragusin moved to Tottenham during the January transfer window in 2024. The three-time England international made 16 Serie A appearances during the second half of the 2023-24 campaign.

As things stand, there have not been any formal negotiations between the two sides, but according to Monday’s report, Juventus would need to pay a fee in the region of €30m if they are to lure Spence away from the relegation-threatened Tottenham.

That is a similar fee to the one that has been cited for the potential signing of Kayode.

€30m is a considerable fee for Juventus, especially at full-back, and La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that the Old Lady may have to look at moving on one of their current players first before they are able to pull off this sort of deal. Pierre Kalulu has been mentioned as one of the players who could potentially be sacrificed in the summer.

Tottenham Explore ÂŁ60m Move for Brentford Speedster as Summer Plans Take Shape

Tottenham Hotspur’s season has unfolded in uneasy chapters, yet planning for the future continues regardless of present turbulence. According to Bild, the north London club are in ongoing talks over a potential summer move for Brentford forward Kevin Schade, with the proposed deal valued at around €70m, approximately £60m.

Photo IMAGO

This is a story that reflects Tottenham’s current paradox. On one hand, the club are navigating a difficult Premier League campaign and hovering dangerously close to the lower end of the table. On the other, recruitment conversations already point toward the next stage of rebuilding.

Spurs Planning Ahead Despite Difficult Campaign

Tottenham’s league position provides an uncomfortable backdrop. With nine matches remaining, the club sit just one point above the relegation zone, a statistic that underlines how fragile their season has become.

European competition offers little respite either. A Champions League last 16 tie against Atletico Madrid looms, while exits from domestic cups have already narrowed the margin for error.

Yet according to Bild, Tottenham remain active behind the scenes. Talks have continued regarding Schade despite managerial changes and the departure of Thomas Frank.

Recruitment at major clubs rarely pauses for long, even during turbulent seasons. Tottenham’s continued interest suggests that Schade’s profile fits a longer term vision rather than a short term impulse.

Brentford Forward Emerging as Premier League Threat

Schade has gradually grown into a prominent figure at Brentford this season. The 24 year old has stepped forward from the shadow of Bryan Mbeumo, delivering seven goals and three assists across 26 appearances.

The most striking aspect of his game remains his pace. He has been clocked as one of the fastest players in the Premier League this season, a quality that naturally draws attention from clubs seeking attacking dynamism.

Photo IMAGO

Bild reports that Bayern Munich have also monitored the German forward. However, Brentford’s valuation has complicated matters.

The report explains that Brentford’s asking price of €70m (£60m) is considered too high by Bayern, who see him as potential cover for Luis Diaz on the wings rather than an automatic starter.

In England, the situation appears more open.

Transfer Landscape Developing Around Tottenham

Schade would be open to leaving Brentford this summer, and according to the same report, his representatives have already approached several clubs.

It is stated that the player has been offered to both Tottenham and Chelsea by his agent as part of early transfer discussions.

Tottenham’s interest predates the winter window. While a deal did not materialise at that stage, their admiration has remained intact.

Squad circumstances may soon create an opening. Mathys Tel has struggled for consistency, Wilson Odobert continues his recovery from an ACL injury, and Richarlison is expected to depart at the end of the campaign.

Photo IMAGO

Within that context, Schade’s arrival could offer Tottenham a direct injection of pace and unpredictability across the forward line.

Whether Tottenham convert interest into a formal offer remains uncertain, but the early conversations suggest a club already looking toward reinvention.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

Tottenham’s current league position hardly inspires confidence, yet recruitment planning continues as though the club are preparing for a far brighter future. That tension reflects the strange rhythm of modern football. Planning rarely pauses, even during difficult campaigns.

Kevin Schade represents a type of signing supporters often welcome. Tottenham have historically thrived with explosive wide players capable of stretching defences and unsettling opponents. Pace has long been part of the club’s attacking identity.

Supporters would also recognise the opportunity created by squad changes. If Richarlison departs and Odobert continues his recovery process, Tottenham will require new attacking options. Schade’s speed and improving end product could offer precisely that.

There is also cautious optimism about his development curve. Seven goals and three assists suggest a player still progressing rather than one who has reached his ceiling.

At £60m the fee would certainly spark debate among supporters. Yet if Tottenham want to rebuild with younger, high ceiling attackers, players of Schade’s profile inevitably come at a premium.

For Spurs fans hoping for signs of direction, this potential move at least hints that the club are thinking ahead.

Tottenham backed to appoint ‘perfect’ manager Spurs fans will hate with Tudor sack ‘close’ | OneFootball

Tottenham backed to appoint ‘perfect’ manager Spurs fans will hate with Tudor sack ‘close’ - OneFootball
Description

Tottenham are reportedly ‘close’ to sacking Igor Tudor and pundit Darren Bent has backed the club to swallow their pride and appoint a manager who their fans will hate, but who’ll guarantee survival.

Tottenham are in dire straits right now and staring down the barrel of a first relegation since 1977. They sit just one point above the drop zone, and the arrival of Igor Tudor – slated as a survival specialist – has not had the intended effect.

OneFootball Videos

The Croatian has overseen three successive defeats since taking charge, and there’s growing talk another managerial change will be made as Spurs begin to panic.

TEAMtalk have been told former Spurs striker, Robbie Keane, is on standby and keen to answer the call if the phone rings.

What’s more, the latest from Football Insider on Monday claimed Tudor is ‘close’ to being relieved of his duties.

But while Keane is very much the frontrunner to step in if a change is made, former Tottenham striker Bent believes Sean Dyche should get the nod.

Dyche is readily available having been sacked by Nottingham Forest last month. He’s built up a well-earned reputation as a manager who’ll get a club back to basics, firm up a leaky defence, and grind out positive results.

What’s more, Dyche has proven in the past that he can achieve those aims almost immediately after walking through the door.

Of course, there is a stigma attached to Dyche, with the veteran Englishman viewed as one of, if not the least sexy appointment there is.

But in Bent’s mind, Tottenham need to swallow their pride, and given the ultimate aim is to retain their Premier League status, it’ll be far more embarrassing to go down than it’ll be to hire Dyche for three months.

“If you genuinely believe and sense that Tudor’s not the right man and he’s not getting anything out of the players, then you almost just walk into relegation,” Bent told talkSPORT.

He added: “Regardless if people are laughing at you now, come the end of the season, you want to hope you’re still in the Premier League, because if you’re not, that would be the biggest laugh.

“They need a manager that’s going to go in there and just make them organised and hard to beat.

“And as I said, for the next couple of weeks, it might be horrible to watch, but if you’re nicking 1-0’s, getting draws, picking up points, [it] doesn’t matter.

“Sean Dyche, right now, for me would be the perfect man for Tottenham. Because one thing he can do is get teams organised, hard to beat.

“I get it, Spurs fans might not want that, but at some point you’ve got to go, ‘Do you know what? We just need someone who’s going to keep us up.'”

Ben concluded: “You just need someone who’s going to steady the ship and make you hard to beat.

“There’s no point getting someone in there that plays all this attractive football, get you on the front foot – because you’re too easy to play against.”

Newcastle United eyeing summer move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke | OneFootball

Newcastle United eyeing summer move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke - OneFootball
Description

Newcastle United are plotting a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke, according to The Daily Mail.

Spurs are currently languishing in 16th place, just one point above the relegation zone after a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday – a match in which Solanke scored Tottenham’s only goal.

The North Londoners find themselves in a precarious position, with the threat of relegation looming large as the campaign draws to a close.

Should Spurs fail to avoid the drop, a summer exodus of high earners is anticipated. Even if they secure survival, a lack of European football could see chairman Daniel Levy forced to consider offers for key assets, with Solanke among those attracting interest.

Solanke has scored five goals in 14 appearances across all competitions this term, but has struggled for consistency in an underperforming Spurs side.

Newcastle view the forward as an ideal fit for Eddie Howe’s system, with the prospect of reuniting with his former Bournemouth boss likely to appeal to the player.

A move to St James’ Park would also provide Solanke with a fresh challenge and the opportunity to compete for a top-six finish.

With Tottenham’s top-flight status in doubt, and Newcastle determined to strengthen their squad for a renewed European push, Solanke’s situation will be one to watch when the summer transfer window opens.

In the meantime, the England international will hope to help his side navigate a daunting run of fixtures which sees them take on Atletico Madrid twice in eight days either side of a trip to Anfield.
