Liverpool have completed the signing of forward Martha Thomas on a loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this morning.

Thomas has gone on to net 13 goals in 66 appearances for The Lilywhites in all competitions. Thomas was an Adobe Women’s FA Cup runner-up with Spurs in 2023/2024.

In addition to her spells with Spurs and Manchester United, Thomas has also turned out for West Ham United in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

On the international stage, Thomas has been capped by Scotland on 52 occasions while she has scored 21 goals.

After joining Liverpool on loan, Thomas said “It means a lot. It’s a really exciting time for me and I’m really excited to be here.

“I think it’s the right fit, right now in my career. Even though it’s a short loan, I’m really looking forward to being here and helping this team climb the table where they deserve to be.”

Thomas is Liverpool’s fourth signing of the January transfer window.

So he won’t be making any needless changes as his side head into their fourth-round tie against Leicester City.

“I take every game serious[ly], and I don’t see any of these cup competitions as ones where we will rotate for the sake of it,” he said in a press conference on Friday. “We go into the game with the strongest team to be competitive and we want to compete for all honours.”

Tottenham finished as runners-up in the 2024 final, and Ho said that his squad would like to equal and surpass that achievement.

“Players speak about it very widely because the players know and I know and the club know the FA Cup is a cup that can cause upsets or provide a lot of success and probably happiness for a lot of fans, because you’re playing upon the biggest if not the most unique stadium in world football at Wembley, and we want to make sure that we have the opportunity to do that again.”

Tottenham hosted Leicester in the WSL last weekend, winning 1-0 thanks to an Ash Neville own goal, but Ho isn’t taking anything for granted.

“Whoever you draw in these competitions, you have to perform against them,” he said. “Unfortunately, it’s been us playing them back-to-back and probably me and Rick will be sick of one another by the end of the game!

“It’s not easy to plan for, but it makes it more probably streamlined because you’re working off the same opponent, but you can maybe have to find a way you can be a little bit different in the second game, how you can maybe change things, whether that’s personnel or tactically, to be a little bit more unpredictable. So the planning process has been the same as it was the week before. We’re just trying to use some new information and data we picked up from the game in the league.”

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of England midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

The 25-year-old joins Spurs in a €40m deal and has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract running until the summer of 2031

In search of midfield reinforcement after Rodrigo Bentancur’s recent hamstring problem, Tottenham accelerated talks with Atletico for Gallagher yesterday.

Aston Villa had also held discussions over a move but wanted an initial loan with an option to buy, while Atletico prioritised a permanent sale.

“I’m so happy and excited to be here, taking the next step in my career at an amazing club,” Gallagher said on the completion of his move.

“I wanted to be a Spurs player, and thankfully, the club felt the same. It was very easy, it happened very quickly, and I’m ready to get on the pitch.

“I know how great the fans are, I’m really happy to be a part of it here and want to create special moments and memories together.”

Gallagher returns to England after 17 months in LaLiga, having joined Atletico from Chelsea in 2024 for €42m.

Before heading to Spain, he made 136 Premier League appearances across spells with West Brom, Crystal Palace and Chelsea, establishing himself as an industrious, box-to-box midfielder with aggressive pressing, stamina and a knack for arriving in the box.

Gallagher will be expected to debut for his new employers when they play host to West Ham United in Saturday’s London derby.

Thomas Frank’s men are in need of a victory after suffering consecutive defeats and failing to win any of their last four outings across all competitions.

The length of the 23-year-old’s new deal has been left undisclosed, however, the Club have confirmed that the player has been retained for the long-term.

Morris joined Spurs in summer 2024 after opting to leave former club Southampton. The defender featured in 13 games for The Lilywhites in her first season in North London.

Just seeing the growth of the team from last season to this season, how Martin [Ho] has come in and given the girls a sense of belief. Tottenham are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

The Athletic say Spurs are nearing an agreement for a deal worth €40m to sign the 25-year-old.

Aston Villa were also in talks over a deal for Gallagher, who has spent 18 months at Atletico Madrid but has found game time more difficult to come by of late.

But Gallagher is expected to fly to London for a medical ahead of his move to Spurs.

The Villains have, however, added another youngster in 17-year-old striker Brian Madjo, who joins from Metz for an undisclosed fee.

His arrival follows the addition of 19-year-old winger Alysson from Gremio earlier in the window.

But forward Donyell Malen could leave the club, with Sky Sports reporting that Roma have expressed an interest in the Dutchman.

Elsewhere, the Guardian say West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta is keen to leave the club and join former side Flamengo this month.

The Brazilian was left out of the squad for the FA Cup third round clash with QPR on Sunday.

The Independent, meanwhile, report that Manchester City are intent on signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this January.

Guehi is out of contract with Palace at the end of the season and also has interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But City are said to want to bring in the central defender earlier than that, amid several injuries in defence.

Tottenham Hotspur hijack Conor Gallagher deal - OneFootball
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have hijacked Aston Villa's proposed move to sign Conor Gallagher with the midfielder set to sign for the North London side.

Aston Villa had agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid to sign Gallagher on an initial loan, with a mandatory option to make the move permanent. Discussions between Villa and the player over personal terms had been ongoing, but interest from Spurs has now seen that deal collapse.

Tottenham have offered a permanent €40m (£34.6m) fee for Gallagher, who has decided to join Spurs ahead ofAston Villa.

The Athletic are reporting that Gallagher will fly to London on Tuesday to undergo a medical. An agreement has been reached on a long-term contract.

Gallagher is open to a return to London after two seasons in Spain, having struggled for regular first-team football under Diego Simeone this season.

The formerChelsea midfielder has started just four La Liga games in 2025-26 and a return to the Premier League will improve his hopes of making the England squad for this summer's World Cup. Gallagher has not been capped by the Three Lions since June 2025.

Spurs will be delighted to agree a deal for the 25-year-old, who will boost their depleted midfield stocks. Rodrigo Bentancur has been ruled out for around three months after undergoing hamstring surgery, while James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevki remain sidelined.

Head coach Thomas Frank has discussed his desire for reinforcements this month. The club are also nearing a deal for Santos left-back Souza. The 19-year-old is in the UK to undergo medical tests ahead of a proposed €15m move from the Brazilian side.

Spurs are currently 14th in thePremier League table and have won just one of their last six league games. Frank's side are eight points adrift of the Champions League places as things stand. Spurs host West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.
