Ryan Mason has been urged to make a decision regarding his Tottenham Hotspur future amid links to a move away.

The former midfielder is currently acting as an assistant to manager Ange Postecoglou but was recently linked with the vacant managerial post at Belgian giants Anderlecht.

However, it quickly emerged that the 33-year-old intended to remain at Spurs, feeling that now is not the right time to jump into a head coach role.

For now, Mason — who has managed Spurs 13 times across two spells as interim boss — will continue to serve under Postecoglou as they seek to improve Tottenham’s current ninth-place standing in the Premier League table.

Ryan Mason urged to ‘make a decision’ over Spurs future

Despite short-term assurances that Mason will remain at Tottenham, former goalkeeper Bryan King — who served as a Spurs scout between 2002 and 2008 — believes the coach still has things to think about regarding his future.

King has urged Mason to ‘remain focussed’ on his current responsibilities, but also to make a long-term decision sooner rather than later.

“It is up to Mason what he does now,” King told Tottenham News.

“Does he want to remain at Tottenham long-term, or is he still looking for another club to manage on his own? I’d have thought if Mason was doing well then he would move on.

“However, maybe he should remain focussed on the job he is currently doing. He is already with a big club in Tottenham. Either way, the time has come for him to make a decision.”

Pedro Porro has thanked Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou for helping him become a better ‘one-on-one’ defender.

Porro initially joined Spurs on loan from Sporting CP in the 2022/23 winter transfer window, before making a £39m (per Sky Sports) permanent switch the following summer.

Both with and without the ball, Porro initially faced criticism as he struggled to adjust to English football, particularly from former Man Utd defender Gary Neville.

But over the last 12 months, Porro has emerged as one of Tottenham’s most important players and is now being rewarded with call-ups to the Spanish national team — although he still doesn’t view himself in the same bracket as compatriots Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navas.

This season, Porro ranks among the club’s top two when it comes to tackles (18), blocks (12), interceptions (10) and chances created (13) in Premier League play. He also scored Spurs’ first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw away at Leicester City.

The above stats show just how much Porro has improved defensively — alongside his final-third output — and despite being a manager better known for his attacking qualities, the 25-year-old has given credit to Postecoglou for making that happen.

“I would say yes, since I was at Sporting. I’m much better and that’s important,” Porro told MaisFutebol.

“The Premier [League] is very one-on-one and I worked on that well. The coach we have [Postecoglou] works on that especially and, thanks to the work, I improved.”

Tottenham are all set to rival Arsenal for the services of Bournemouth attacking sensation Antoine Semenyo.

Despite having made significant investments to reinforce their attack in recent transfer windows, Tottenham are still on the lookout for opportunities to add more firepower to their squad. Antoine Semenyo’s impressive performances for Bournemouth in the initial phase of the 2024/25 season seem to have caught the attention of Spurs.

The 24-year-old right-winger is already on the wishlist of their arch-rivals Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s team are looking at him as a backup for Bukayo Saka. They are monitoring his progress and could soon make a move for the Ghanaian international. But, according to a report from CaughtOffside, the Gunners could face serious competition from Tottenham as their manager Ange Postecoglou is believed to be a big fan of the former Bristol City star.

While Semenyo has been a part of the Cherries’ first team since the start of 2023, he has come into the limelight on the back of his heroics this season. In his seven league outings, the 24-year-old has three goals and an assist. He has made some significant progress under Andoni Iraola and could add a lot of depth to Tottenham’s attack. With Dejan Kulusevski moving into a midfield role, he could compete with Brennan Johnson for a place in the starting XI.

Semenyo’s impressive rise has caught the attention of quite a few top clubs and Spurs are not going to find it easy to strike a deal for his services. The biggest competition will come from their rivals Arsenal who have been keeping an eye on the Bournemouth sensation for some time now.

Virgil van Dijk has hailed Son Heung-min as one of the best finishers in the Premier League, recalling an iconic moment from their 2019 clash with Tottenham.

Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk recently discussed a few of his iconic scenarios from back in the day while speaking to the Premier League’s YouTube channel. He spoke about some of his best moments in the Merseyside club’s shirt including a game against Tottenham in 2019 where he managed to deal with a two vs one situation with Moussa Sissoko and Heung-Min Son running towards the goal.

The 33-year-old Dutch international said: “It all goes very quickly, he could’ve scored that quickly, but in that split second I’m thinking don’t play the ball to Son, I cover that line and I block that line because I think Son is one of the best finishers in the Premier League, left and right footed.

“Knowing that Sissoko was a right-footed player that was the decision I had to make, basic defending but it worked very well.”

With Sissoko and Son charging at him, Van Dijk had a tough call to make in a two vs one situation. Since Sissoko had the ball on his weak left foot, the Dutch centre-back decided to ensure he didn’t square the ball to Son. Apart from blocking the path to the South Korean international, the Liverpool skipper managed to put enough pressure on the French midfielder who took a shot with his weak foot and couldn’t hit the target.

The main thought that Van Dijk had was to ensure Son doesn’t get the ball as he considers the Tottenham skipper to be one of the best finishers in the Premier League. He is equally effective with both feet and the records speak for themselves.

Since joining the North London club back in 2015, the South Korean international has featured in 415 matches for Spurs. He has scored a total of 164 goals and even has 86 assists to his name. 122 of his goals have come in the English top flight. He is one of the best to have ever played for Tottenham and the Liverpool skipper did acknowledge it.

John Wenham has praised Tottenham’s recruitment team for securing a deal for Croatian sensation Luka Vušković.

Ange Postecoglou and technical director Johan Lange have made major changes to Tottenham’s transfer approach. The North London club now focus on signing young players with huge potential. They have added quite a few young stars to their squad in recent seasons and another teenage sensation, Luka Vuskovic, is all set to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer of 2025.

Spurs struck a deal worth £12 million with Hajduk Split in the summer of 2023 for the services of the Croatian defensive sensation. Vuskovic is currently on a season-long loan at Belgian club Westerlo and people at the North London club are quite happy with his progress. Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham is delighted to see the 17-year-old adapt to life in Belgium without much difficulty and he praised Tottenham for signing the incredible defensive talent.

He said while speaking on Tottenham News: “He seems to move to these different clubs and countries and slots in with complete ease,”

“It seems like everywhere he goes he becomes the star player. That is crazy for a 17-year-old, absolutely insane. He already has four league goals with Westerlo.

“He keeps scoring these massive, powerful headers, pushing people out the way who are much older than him, he’s incredible.”

“Well done to the recruitment team for getting that deal over the line and agreeing a contract until 2030.”

Vuskovic will be making the move to Tottenham after he turns 18. He has already had the experience of playing in the Croatian, Belgian and Polish top flight. Given how quickly he has adjusted to the different leagues, the teenager is unlikely to have much difficulty getting used to the Premier League.

Wenham has been closely following his progress and he is delighted to see the teenager establish himself as a star everywhere he goes.

While he is a centre-back, he has four goals and an assist in his 10 outings for the Belgian club. His ariel ability stands out and the Lilywhite Rose owner feels Tottenham’s recruitment team have done a great job to secure his services until 2030. It will be interesting to see if he is thrown into the first team straight away because he surely has the potential to be a special player.

Pedro Porro has branded himself ‘rubbish’ compared to Spanish counterparts Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navas.

Porro has been among Tottenham’s most important players over the last 18 months and this season alone, he’s among the club’s top two when it comes to tackles (18), blocks (12), interceptions (10) and chances created (13).

The Spaniard also has one goal to his name, netting Spurs’ first of the season in their 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

Porro’s form has been such that he’s already being linked to Real Madrid, and recently declared he is ‘proud’ to see his name associated with the 15-time European champions.

Despite all that, Porro takes a dim view of himself in comparison to current Real Madrid right-back Carvajal, as well as fellow Spaniard Navas who, at 38, is still going strong at Sevilla.

However, he’s working hard to reach those levels every day.

“I always look at everything. I get up every morning to improve, I’m a player who always wants more and who takes care of the smallest detail. We don’t have to get stuck on what we do well,” Porro told MaisFutebol while on international duty with Spain.

“I’m a very sincere player, who tells things as they are. I still have a lot to improve, I’m 25 years old.

“I look at the careers of Jesús Navas and Dani Carvajal and say: I’m rubbish. It’s true! If people talk to me about the careers they had, I say: well, I’m on the right track. May I be like them one day, because they are my idols.”

Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski has voiced his confidence in his performances this season, making it clear that he is not surprised by his current form.

Speaking during the international break while preparing to captain Sweden against Slovakia and Estonia, the 24-year-old attributed his strong displays to intense preparation and hard work.

Kulusevski explained that while his standout performance against Manchester United earned him praise, his consistent form throughout the season has been equally impressive.

He credits his improvement to a stronger mental approach and better physical conditioning, adding that he has matured both on and off the pitch.

As quoted by Fotboll Skanalen, Kulusevski said:

“It (being a protagonist) came out in that match, but I have worked incredibly hard to be able to play at that level. I’m not shocked. I’ve just been waiting for it. Every match has felt good, but that one was perhaps extra good.

“I want to try to maximize this career as much as possible and never be one of the crowd.

“It has been the whole season. I really feel that I am stronger mentally and physically this season. I have changed the “mindset” a bit. I think that is to my advantage. I have grown off the pitch as well. The plan is to get better every day, and I feel that I am becoming that.”

Although Kulusevski has only registered one goal and two assists in his 10 appearances so far, his contributions have been critical to Tottenham’s attacking dynamics. (Transfermarkt)

Primarily used in the number 10 role under manager Ange Postecoglou, the Swedish international has played a crucial part in creating opportunities and driving the team’s offence forward.

He has even stepped in as a striker when Tottenham’s forwards were sidelined but acknowledged that he feels more comfortable in an advanced midfield role rather than as a striker or a right-winger.

Statistically, Kulusevski is among the league’s top creative players, ranking fourth in shot-creating actions and fifth in key passes this season.

As Tottenham navigate a mixed start to their campaign, Postecoglou will be looking to Kulusevski to maintain his current form.

According to O Keefe, Spurs are optimistic that both Son and Richarlison will be able to return to full training next week, making them available for selection ahead of the Premier League clash against West Ham after the international break.

Son has been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury during Tottenham’s Europa League opener against Qarabag. The Spurs captain has missed four games so far, but he is expected to make his return in time for the crucial West Ham fixture.

Richarlison has also been sidelined after sustaining an injury in training, with the Brazilian missing eight matches due to a longer-than-anticipated recovery.

His return to full fitness will bring added firepower to Tottenham’s forward line, where he will be eager to challenge new signing Dominic Solanke for the starting striker role.

The French winger’s return will provide manager Ange Postecoglou with more options as Spurs navigate the demanding season.

With these crucial players set to return, Tottenham will be looking to regroup and come back stronger after the international break.

Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur’s rising defensive talent Micky van de Ven, as they prepare to bolster their backline next summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, the Spanish giants are monitoring the Dutch centre-back, who has quickly become one of the Premier League’s standout defenders.

While Spurs are not willing to sell him, Madrid could test them with a strong offer.

Since joining Spurs, van de Ven has impressed with commanding displays, earning him a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising defenders.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid said to be readying a substantial offer to bring the 23-year-old to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid are in need of defensive reinforcements as Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba enter the latter stages of their careers. Van de Ven, known for his defensive solidity and offensive contributions, fits Madrid’s long-term vision for a refreshed backline.

His versatility, including two assists in just six Premier League matches this season, has only added to his value.

However, Tottenham are unlikely to part with their defensive star without a fight. Van de Ven is under contract until 2029, meaning any deal would require a considerable financial outlay.

The Dutchman has swiftly become a key figure in Spurs’ defence under Ange Postecoglou, making him central to the club’s future plans.

While Real Madrid’s interest signals potential competition in the transfer market, for now, van de Ven remains a cornerstone of Tottenham’s defensive unit, with Spurs keen to retain their prized asset amidst growing European attention.

Spurs join Liverpool & Chelsea in race for Dortmund's Jamie Bynoe

Tottenham Hotspur are among the Premier League giants keeping track of Dortmund talent Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, according to reports.

Spurs certainly aren’t short of attacking power, with Brennan Johnson on a run of six goals in six games, Dominic Solanke finding his feet and Dejan Kulusevski putting in impressive performances.

That’s without mentioning Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert, who are working their way back from injury.

If anything, it’s at the back where Postecoglou needs to tough Spurs up, with his side still prone to frustrating defensive collapses; most recently throwing away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Brighton.

Nevertheless, according to German outlet Bild, Spurs have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in attending recent Borussia Dortmund matches in order to take a look at Bynoe-Gittens.

The 20-year-old has been on the radar of clubs for a while now, but finally appears to be cashing in on his considerable talent this season.

Born in London, Bynoe-Gittens joined Dortmund from Manchester City in 2020 — the same career path trodden by compatriot Jadon Sancho — and is capped 23 times for England across various youth levels, registering two goals along the way.
