Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Barcelona-owned attacker Vitor Roque.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Real Betis, who have an option to sign him permanently. The Spanish outfit will be able to secure 80% of his rights for a fee of around €25 million. It will be interesting to see if they are ready to pay up in the coming months.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Tottenham are looking to secure his signature, and the player is appreciative of the interest from the big clubs. However, he is in no hurry to move on. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the player to join.

Barcelona need to sell players so that they can register the likes of Dani Olmo. The report states that Barcelona could sell the Brazilian attacker to the highest bidder in the coming months. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Roque is highly rated in South America and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He has shown his quality in patches with Real Betis and there is no doubt that he could develop into an important player for Tottenham in the long term. The London club could groom him into a Premier League star. He has been likened to the Brazilian superstar Ronaldo Nazario, because of stylistic similarities.

A move to the Premier League could be an exciting opportunity for the player.

Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and they should look to step up their pursuit with an official proposal.

Barcelona signed the player for a package worth around €61 million including bonuses. They paid €30 million in fixed fees and they will look to recoup most of that. Roque could prove to be a bargain at that price if he manages to fulfil his potential.

Tottenham really keen on Johnny Cardoso transfer

Tottenham remain keen on signing Johnny Cardoso from La Liga outfit Real Betis.

According to a report from Diario de Sevilla, Tottenham are very interested in securing the 23-year-old’s signature and Real Betis are under pressure to sell the player. They need to raise funds in order to balance the books and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal done.

We have previously recovered reports, claiming Tottenham have already opened talks with the Spanish club for the player.

Four other European clubs are keen on signing the midfielder, but Tottenham have an advantage over them. When they sold Giovani Lo Celso to the Spanish club at the start of the season, they secured a first-refusal option on the American international midfielder. They will be able to sign him for a fee of around €30 million.

Spurs certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done and Cardoso would be a quality addition for them. He has shown his quality in La Liga and he has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in English football.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder will add physicality and defensive cover to the side. He will protect the central defenders and allow the creative players to operate with more freedom. Tottenham are lacking in depth when it comes to the midfield department and the American international would be the ideal acquisition for them. The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his potential. He could develop into a key player for the North London club with the right guidance.

Tottenham will be hoping to fight for trophies in the coming seasons and they need quality players at their disposal. Although they have shown improvement under their new manager, they are still a few signings away from competing against the Premier League elite.

The midfield and the defence are areas that require reinforcements. Signing a quality defensive midfielder would be a wise decision for them. They should look to invest in a quality central defender as well. They have looked quite vulnerable at the back of the season, and the two signings could help them tighten up defensively.

“I’m told” – Fabrizio Romano shares update on Tottenham’s plans for one particular position ahead of January window

Tottenham are navigating a goalkeeper dilemma as they continue to cope without their first-choice shot-stopper, Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian international has been sidelined since suffering an ankle injury against Manchester City in late November.

Following surgery, Vicario’s recovery timeline suggests he will remain unavailable until early next year, leaving Spurs reliant on veteran Fraser Forster.

The 36-year-old Forster has stepped in admirably at times, producing some impressive saves that demonstrate his extensive experience. However, his recent outings have been overshadowed by costly mistakes.

Notably, during Tottenham’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Manchester United, Forster conceded two goals directly from errors, nearly jeopardising the team’s 3-0 lead.

While Spurs ultimately emerged with a 4-3 victory, the incident highlighted the risks of depending on the veteran for an extended stretch.

Amid growing speculation over a potential January signing to bolster their goalkeeping options, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Spurs are unlikely to make such a move.

Speaking on the Men in Blazers podcast, Romano suggested that the North London club plans to persist with Forster through the winter transfer window, despite recent concerns over his form.

The transfer expert stated:

“To be fair, I was also asking the same question to my sources because I had the same doubts, but I’m told he’s being honest.

“I think Tottenham will not sign a goalkeeper in the January transfer window. That’s what I’m told.”

Looking ahead, Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a move for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor in 2025.

The Brazilian has impressed with his commanding presence and consistency, making him a potential long-term alternative for Ange Postecoglou.

Though under contract with Botafogo until 2027, uncertainty surrounding John’s future has opened the door to a possible transfer.

Forster’s nearly 500 career appearances underscore his extensive experience, but Tottenham cannot afford further slip-ups in what has already been a challenging season.

As Vicario works towards recovery, Forster must offer stability in goal.

Meanwhile, securing a long-term replacement, potentially in the form of John Victor, will be pivotal to addressing Spurs’ goalkeeping needs.

Tottenham’s defensive struggles this season have been exacerbated by the ongoing absence of Ben Davies, who has been sidelined with a thigh injury since early December.

Dr. Rajpal Brar, a sports scientist and injury expert, has provided insight into Davies’ condition, suggesting that the defender is expected to miss the upcoming game against Wolves.

However, his return to training within a couple of weeks remains a realistic target if his recovery stays on track.

The injury, sustained during an away match against Bournemouth, has already kept Davies out of seven games.

Although there is no indication of a severe Grade 3 rupture, which could require extensive recovery time, even minor injuries must be managed carefully to prevent recurrence or further complications.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Dr Brar stated:

“We haven’t had any updates other than Ange saying he will go in for a scan and he might be back sooner so I don’t put much into King’s comments.

“Best case would be a Grade 0 thigh injury, mere discomfort which is day to day and worst case is a Grade 3 rupture which is 10+ weeks depending on whether surgery is needed or not, but that does not seem to be the case.

“I’d still rule him out for the next one but he could be back in training in a week or two.“

Davies has been a crucial figure in Ange Postecoglou’s setup this season, particularly with first-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven also sidelined.

The Welsh defender has stepped up admirably, making 11 appearances across all competitions, including nine starts, and providing consistent and reliable performances.

Since joining Tottenham from Swansea City in 2014, Davies has established himself as a dependable and versatile player.

He has been a key contributor over the years, being part of the club’s squad that had a memorable run to the 2019 Champions League final.

His experience makes him an invaluable asset to the team, particularly in challenging periods like the one Spurs are currently enduring.

As Tottenham contend with poor results and an injury-hit season, reintegrating Davies into the lineup must be handled with caution.

Rushing his return could risk further setbacks, undermining the long-term stability of the backline. However, his eventual comeback promises to bring much-needed reinforcement and leadership to a struggling defence.

Davies’ recovery is critical for the Lilywhites as they look to stabilize their form and regain momentum under Postecoglou’s guidance.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Fiorentina full-back Michael Kayode once again.

The 20-year-old right-back was heavily linked with the move to the Premier League at the start of the season. Tottenham wanted to sign the player in the summer and they came forward to secure his signature as well. However, the deal did not go through because of the asking price. The Italian club were holding out for a fee of around €30 million back then and Tottenham decided it was too expensive for them.

According to a report from Firenze Viola, the situation has now changed, and the Italian outfit would be willing to sell Kayode for a knockdown price in January. The report states that the asking price could now be halved and the player could be available for a fee of around €15 million.

Kayode could prove to be a quality acquisition at that price and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to come forward with an offer to sign him next month. They could certainly use more quality and depth in the defensive unit and Kayode could be a long-term asset.

He is likely to improve with coaching and experience and he could be an understudy to Pedro Porro for now. The Portuguese defender has been linked with Real Madrid in recent months and Kayode could be his long-term replacement if he moves on in the near future.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League could be quite exciting for the young defender and regular exposure to English could accelerate his development. Tottenham have an exciting project and a talented squad. The 20-year-old will certainly be attracted to the idea of joining them.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops in January.

Ange Postecoglou highlights key area Tottenham need to improve in January

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that the club could look to improve their attacking options heading into the January transfer window.

Tottenham are lacking in depth in that area of the pitch, and it will be interesting to see if they can bring in a dynamic attacker who is capable of slotting anywhere across the front three.

The North London club invested in Dominic Solanke at the start of the season and the former Bournemouth star has done reasonably well. However, he has not been prolific enough and Tottenham need someone who can share the goalscoring burden with him.

Although they have Richarlison on their books, the 27-year-old Brazilian striker has struggled with persistent injury problems. Postecoglou has now revealed that the situation with the South American is frustrating because he has the potential to make a defining impact, but his availability remains a concern.

“With Richarlison it has been frustrating because I see the potential in him and to be fair when he’s been fit he’s always made an impact. That’s what you kind of hold on to, but there’s no doubt we need some bolstering in that front third over the next couple of transfer windows,” he said to Football London.

“Dom [Solanke] coming in has been great, but again we can’t overload him either, because ultimately, even if he stays fit and nothing happens, performance will invariably drop if his energy levels drop. So it’s something we’re aware of and need to plan for.”

Tottenham will be hoping to secure Champions League qualification for the next season and they need quality additions to bounce back strongly and put together a winning run during the second half of the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the French international striker Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint Germain.

The 26-year-old striker has struggled to live up to the expectations since the big-money move to the French club, and he has scored just two goals in all competitions this season. PSG need to bring in an upgrade on the player and they are ready to let the player leave alone in January.

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have gathered information regarding the player and they will face competition from Manchester United as well. In addition to that, Tottenham are interested in securing his signature.

PSG are prepared to send the player out on loan with an obligation to buy. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal done. He was regarded as a complete forward during his time in the Bundesliga, and he could be a key player for Tottenham if he manages to regain his form and confidence. Apart from his goalscoring ability, he will help out creatively as well.

Kylian Mbappe said of the player in 2023: “He is a striker who offers different game options to our team. He is very complete and has an impressive volume of play”.

The 26-year-old striker is clearly a player in demand and it remains to be seen where he ends up. He has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in English football, and he will look to hit the ground running if he moves to Tottenham.

The North London club will be hoping to secure Champions League qualification for the next season and they need to improve their squad next month. Signing a quality striker could prove to be a wise decision. They must look to bring in a quality central defender as well.

“Deal to be done” – Spurs insider makes interesting claim urging club to complete signing of ‘incredible’ duo

Tottenham have been urged to pursue Paris Saint-Germain duo Randal Kolo Muani and Milan Škriniar on loan during the January transfer window to address their ongoing injury challenges and reinforce the squad for the second half of the season.

The Lilywhites are dealing with significant squad setbacks and are actively exploring opportunities to strengthen key positions. Bringing in players of Kolo Muani and Škriniar’s calibre could offer much-needed quality and depth.

John Wenham, a prominent Spurs correspondent, has emphasized that both players, despite limited roles at PSG, could make a substantial difference at Tottenham.

He believes that their talent and experience could provide the boost Spurs need to recover their momentum in an injury-hit campaign.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“If they are both available, those are the kind of players we should be targeting.

“They might not be getting into the PSG team, but that is because they have so many superstars battling for positions at that club. These two players could potentially be the difference in us getting over the line in the Carabao Cup or Europa League.

“It was only 18 months ago that Kolo Munai was scoring an incredible amount of goals in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt. PSG paid a substantial amount of money for him, and if he is available on loan, Tottenham should absolutely be putting themselves forward.

“As for Škriniar, he is a hugely experienced player who would also improve us. I’m not interested in Spurs insisting that the wages are too much. If these two players have been made available, there is a deal to be done there. PSG obviously want them out the door and I’m sure they would be willing to subsidise the wages.”

Kolo Muani, known for his goal-scoring prowess at Eintracht Frankfurt, made a high-profile move to PSG for €95 million last year. However, the 26-year-old forward has found opportunities limited in Paris, managing just 14 appearances this season, totalling 453 minutes, as he competes with PSG’s star-studded attack. His proven record in front of goal makes him a compelling option to strengthen Spurs’ offensive lineup.

Meanwhile, Škriniar joined PSG on a free transfer from Inter Milan last summer but has similarly struggled for playing time. The 29-year-old defender has featured in only five matches this season, with Marquinhos and Willian Pacho cemented as PSG’s primary centre-back pairing. The Slovaks’ vast experience and defensive reliability would provide the Lilywhites with critical reinforcement at the back during a challenging period. (Transfermarkt)

Securing loan deals for Kolo Muani and Škriniar would not only help Tottenham address their immediate squad needs but also offer both players the chance to gain regular playing time in a competitive environment.

If successful, these moves could be transformative for Ange Postecoglou’s side as they look to stabilize their campaign and compete effectively across all fronts, including domestic and European competitions.

0 Spurs: Player ratings as Ange Postecoglou crisis deepens

Tottenham Hotspur’s woes deepened with a 1-0 defeat away at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.

Off the back of a crushing 6-3 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend — in which they trailed 5-1 at one point — Ange Postecoglou will have been looking for a reaction from his side.

However, it never came with Anthony Elanga’s goal in the 28th minute enough to separate the sides.

Spurs weren’t without their chances and Brennan Johnson looked the most likely to make the breakthrough against his former club.

However, some resolute defending and quality goalkeeping from Forest ensured Spurs failed to score for just the fourth time in 26 games across all competitions this season.

To make matters worse for Postecoglou, Djed Spence was sent off near the end after Radu Dragusin had already come off injured, meaning he could go into Sunday’s clash against Wolves with five defenders missing.

With Spurs in the bottom half and 10 points adrift of the Champions League places, read on for player ratings from the match.

Tottenham player ratings vs Nottingham Forest: Ange Postecoglou’s crisis deepens

Fraser Forster – 6/10 – Still looked nervous both with the ball at his feet and crosses into the box, but made a couple of decent saves.

Djed Spence – 6/10 – Created a couple of good opportunities and defended very well. Ruined a good performance by picking up a second yellow card for a late challenge on Jota Silva.

Radu Dragusin – 4/10 – Nearly caught out with numerous errors on the ball and often gifted possession back to Forest. Always committed defensively but his positioning leaves something to be desired. Came off injured near the end, which might well leave Postecoglou without any natural centre-backs in their next match.

Archie Gray – 5/10 – Much better than Dragusin on the ball but can be guilty of wandering out of position. Was a little too high on the Forest goal, so couldn’t cover Udogie. But he’s an 18-year-old still learning to be a centre-back, so what can we expect?

Destiny Udogie – 6/10 – Very tidy in possession, misplacing just two passes, while he played eight passes into the final third and made eight recoveries. Sliced open on the Forest goal because he was too wide.

Pape Sarr – 7/10 – Won all four of his ground duels and completed 92% of his passes. Sacrificed just after the hour mark as Postecoglou brought on some more progressive midfielders.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6/10 – Did okay on his first Premier League game back from suspension but ran out of steam pretty quickly.

Brennan Johnson – 7/10 – Unlucky not to score against his former club, with Matz Sels pulling out a couple of excellent saves. Tottenham’s most likely threat.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5/10 – You’ll never stop Dejan Kulusevski from being busy and trying to unlock the defence, but it just didn’t come off for him today. Completed just two of six dribbles and won only three of 13 combined ground and aerial duels.

Son Heung-min – 5/10 – Uncharacteristically gave the ball away in dangerous situations a couple of times. Looked like a player short on confidence, trying to force things at times.

Dominic Solanke – 6/10 – Battled as hard as he could but was too isolated and didn’t get enough high-quality service.

Substitutes:

Lucas Bergvall (63′, for Bentancur) – 7/10 – Tidy on the ball, completing all but one of his passes. Made some important blocks and tackles as well.

James Maddison (63′, for Sarr) – 5/10 – Busy when he came on, but ineffective.

Pedro Porro (81′, for Udogie) – 6/10 – Tried to make things happen in the final third but couldn’t make the difference.

Timo Werner (81′, for Son) – 6/10 – A couple of dangerous balls into the box but not much else.

Ange Postecoglou publicly addresses Tottenham's Ben Godfrey links

Ange Postecoglou has publicly addressed the reports linking Tottenham Hotspur with Ben Godfrey.

The former Everton defender now turns out for Italian side Atalanta, but has struggled to make an impact with the Goddess, playing just 93 minutes in five appearances across all competitions.

Even so, Godfrey would add much-needed depth and versatility to Postecoglou’s injury-hit backline having played in every defensive position during his time at Goodison Park — including holding midfield.

That adaptability would prove vital to Spurs, who have seen Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie all injured recently — while Godfrey himself would likely jump at the opportunity to increase his minutes.

Ange Postecoglou discusses Ben Godfrey links

Atalanta paid £10m (per BBC Sport) to sign Godfrey from Everton mere months ago.

The two-time England international signed a contract running until June 2029, meaning they would definitely demand a fee from Spurs.

That makes a loan for Godfrey more likely than a permanent transfer.

Postecoglou was asked about the prospect of signing Godfrey in his press conference ahead of the Boxing Day clash with Nottingham Forest.

However, the Australian was noncommital, steering clear of naming names to reporters.

“Sorry? We’re starting naming players, are we?” Postecoglou said (via TBR). “Let’s wait till after Christmas for that.”

Teasing a busy January, he added: “Thanks, we’ll just see mate, I’m kind of hoping, I’ve been really good this year because I’ve got a fair Christmas list for Santa so we’ll see what I get.”

Tottenham are currently 11th in the Premier League ahead of their trip to Nottingham Forest, who are seven points ahead in the fourth and final Champions League spot.

Following that Boxing Day meeting, Spurs host Wolves on Sunday, December 29th in their final game of 2024.
