Tottenham Hotspur find themselves down in 16th position in the Premier League table with only four fixtures left to play this season. Pressure continues to mount on Ange Postecoglou and the club’s hierarchy have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future. He joined the London outfit back in 2023 after catching their eye up in Scotland at Celtic.

Manchester United are sat in 14th and have also under-performed in this campaign. Ruben Amorim was picked as their replacement for Erik ten Hag this past winter. The Portuguese head coach has endured a mixed spell at Old Trafford so far and will hope for more consistency in the future.

Tottenham Hotspur eye Marcus Rashford transfer

Despite their struggles in the league, Spurs could still get into the Champions League this year. They remain in the Europa League and if they win it, they will be competing in the top European competition next term which is a fantastic incentive for them. They must now throw all their efforts on that tournament and forget about the Premier League now.

Postecoglou’s side are being linked with a summer move for Marcus Rashford at Manchester United. According to Football Transfers, they are interested in luring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the next window. He is currently on loan at Aston Villa and his future is up in the air.

Rashford, 27, was given the green light to link up with Unai Emery’s men in January after falling out of favour with the Red Devils. He has since enjoyed plenty of game time in the Midlands and has been building his confidence back up. However, it remains to be seen whether Villa will sign him permanently.

If they don’t, that could open the door for Spurs to swoop in. The England international would be perfect and would inject more quality into their ranks. There is no doubting his ability and he needs to go somewhere he can play every week and prove himself.

Rashford has been on the books at Manchester United for his whole career to date and rose up through their academy. The change of scene to Aston Villa has done him good and has provided him with a platform to impress. It is unlikely that he will ever get back into Amorim’s plans and a full-time exit would suit all parties involved.

Tottenham Hotspur should offer Manchester United Yves Bissouma swap deal

Spurs should offer Manchester United a swap deal involving Yves Bissouma in an attempt to secure Rashford’s signature. If the Red Devils got someone in return, they may be more willing to do business. Amorim could do with more options in the middle of the park so this proposal could turn his head.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen aren’t getting any younger and the midfield department has been a problem position over recent times. The North West outfit are often left wide open in that area during matches and need someone like Bissouma to tighten things up. His deal runs out in June 2026 so his current club risk losing him for nothing next year as things stand if they don’t sell him soon, assuming he doesn’t put pen-to-paper on an extension anytime soon.

Bissouma could give United something different to call upon. He is experienced now in England and has proved in the past that he can significantly influence games. The Mali international, who has 45 caps to his name, has played over 250 matches in his career so far.

The 28-year-old should be coming into his prime now and needs to getting regular minutes. He would be a starter for the Red Devils due to their lack of decent options in his position which could make them an attractive proposition. Brighton snapped him up back in 2018 from Lille and he became an important asset for the Seagulls before Spurs came calling.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have had little to smile about in the league this season, they are currently 16th position and on course for their worst campaign of the Premier League era, and they have already been beaten 18 times in the league this season which is their most since 1997 and could potentially break the club for defeats in a single season which stands at 20.

Despite this negativity surrounding the club, Europe has provided a brief glimmer of hope and a potential silver lining which could see the club miraculously return to the Champions League for the first time since the days of Antonio Conte in 2023.

The Lillywhites are already in the semi-final of the Europa League and have been handed a fairly favourable draw which sees them face Norwegian underdogs Bodo/Glimt. Spurs due to their vast experience and squad value will inevitably enter the fixture as huge favourites although there’s a slight air of trepidation, given the fact that the team were able to overcome the odds to beat Lazio last time out.

Victory in that match would set up a final against either Athletic Bilbao or Manchester United in the Basque Country which would potentially see Ange Postecoglou’s side sneak into Europe’s elite competition while also ending their 17-year trophy drought.

If such an instance was to occur, it would inevitably leave the club with plenty of financial muscle to flex on new signings, and give the manager a drastic boost when it comes to attracting the world’s top stars. With that in mind, we take a look at the double signing which could transform the capital club.

Who Tottenham Hotspurs should target if they make the Champions League?

Highly-rated Spanish wonderkid Gabri Veiga sent shock waves around the whole of Europe when he opted to leave La Liga side Celta Vigo to complete a £34m move to Saudi side Al-Ahli.

Veiga seemed to have most of Europe’s elites queuing up for him after impressing at The Estadio Municipal de Balaídos and making the Spanish Team of the Season. He has continued to shine in the Middle East with Al-Ahli since his move while playing with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Ivan Toney among others. Overall, he has 11 goals and nine assists in 54 appearances and has proven himself as a class act both on the wing and as a central midfielder.

However, Fichajes claim the youngster, still only 22, is seeking a move back to Europe to boost his hopes of playing at the World Cup in 2026. Veiga has just 12 months remaining on his contract and would be guaranteed regular football at Spurs, who could pick him up for a cut-price fee. He’d provide valuable competition in the central attacking area of midfield, with James Maddison struggling for consistency due to injuries and rotation in recent months. The youngster has an estimated value of £30m due to his current contract situation.

TBR Football claim Spurs are eyeing a shock move for West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen as they aim to boost their attacking resources. England international Bowen has been at West Ham since 2020 and has scored 70 and assisted 48 in 233 appearances while primarily playing as a right winger. The most important of those came in the Europa Conference final in 2023 to mark the club’s first honour since 1980.

Bowen is viewed as a legendary figure at West Ham but could be tempted to move to North London if Spurs are to achieve their goal of achieving Champions League status.

The 28-year-old has been a standout performer in a Hammers team which has struggled without David Moyes and could be a tempting proposition for the club, who have not seen the best of Heung Min Son, aged 32, in recent months. Bowen has a valuation of £55m, according to Footmob.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are two English football heavyweights enduring seasons to forget in the Premier League, after a calamitous fall from grace this term that very few fans could see coming.

United’s latest slump started with the eyebrow-raising decision to keep Erik ten Hag at the club after his FA Cup final victory, despite an eighth place finish and weeks of the club allegedly courting potential successors.

Ten Hag had won trophies during his time at United, but most from the outside could see his tenure was going in only one direction. The inevitable exit happened in November, yet with new gaffer Ruben Amorim, results have plummeted further and only a spirited run in Europe has given United fans any glimmer of hope to cling on to.

Tottenham’s decline was trickier to predict, although the warning signs had been there as a team that sat top at the end of October plummeted to fifth and won just two of their last seven matches.

Their season mirrors United’s in the sense that injuries have been prevalent throughout the campaign, and the only real high points have come on the continent with Europa League success - this is seemingly the only factor that can keep Ange Postecoglou in a job next season, as the manager’s struggling side continue to make the same errors game after game.

Clearly, both clubs need a fairly drastic upheaval in the upcoming transfer window, if they are to try and fix the mess they have gotten themselves into - but could they use each other’s disorder to find a mutual solution?

James Maddison could leave Spurs this summer

Based on statistics alone, you’d be forgiven for thinking that James Maddison has had an excellent season for Tottenham. The England international currently sits on nine goals and six assists in the league for the 2025/26 campaign, while he also has two goals and three assists in Europe over his ten appearances.

Maddison has certainly had moments to remember this season, such as netting a brace against Manchester City, a winner against Man United and assists in both legs of the Europa League triumph over Frankfurt. But his overall game has lacked consistency and since January, Maddison has gradually found himself in and out of the Spurs team under Postecoglou, with reports intensifying over a rift between the pair.

Gary Lineker has even gone as far to question whether the two have fallen out on Rest Is Football, while Graeme Bailey of TBR Football believes Maddison’s future and Postecoglou’s could be interlinked with the ex-Leciester star likely leaving if his manager stays.

Bailey explained : “James Maddison’s future is far from certain to be at Tottenham. But we could very well see a summer of upheaval at Spurs. If Ange Postecoglou leaves, the Maddison conversation will have to be had – I believe there is more chance of him staying, should the manager leave. Maddison has England aspirations and he has that in his mind. And I can tell you I know of a couple of Premier League clubs who would want him, but as said, it will depend on who is in charge – he could yet have a long-term future at Spurs.”

Maddison plays in the central attacking midfield position which is an area of the pitch where Ruben Amorim needs multiple options, with Bruno Fernandes currently being the only standout option in that area.

Joshua Zirkzee and the soon to be leaving Christian Eriksen have been tried in that area with little success while Mathues Cunha has emerged as a strong target from Wolves, but does have the versatility to also play as a winger or centre forward - the latter position being an area United desperately need to crack this summer.

Could a Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur swap deal work some magic?

As it stands, Marcus Rashford is enjoying a solid loan spell at Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s men have the option to make the deal a permanent for £40m, but are thought to be assessing whether they can pay Rashford’s lucrative wage demands which are believed to be in excess of £300,000.

Should Villa not sign Rashford, there is a suggestion from Football Transfersthat Spurs could target the 60-time England international as they look to land a long-term replacement for Heung-min Son.

This could in turn lead to a scenario where Rashford, who is unlikely to play again for United could move to Tottenham for a small fee which would see Maddison move to the Red Devils as a makeweight.

The move could potentially suit both parties with Maddison and Rashford both having strained relationship with their current bosses and potentially needing a fresh start to reinvigorate their careers with the World Cup next summer on the horizon.

It’s Easter Monday but while you all enjoy a nice bank holiday lie-in, our hard-working journalists have been out scouring the global media for some juicy new Premier League transfer rumours – and we’ve rounded some of the spiciest up for our daily digest, which starts off which a story which should interest both Manchester United and Manchester City fans.

Sport Witness have summarised some fresh reports from France concerning the future of AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche, who is seemingly wanted by both Mancunian sides – and we have two updates on a potential transfer fee.

L’Equipe claim that 23-year-old would set his suitors back a hefty €70-80m (£60-£68.5m), but another source suggests that such a price tag is seriously inflated, and that Akliouche, who has six goals in 38 games for Monaco this season, would actually cost something closer to €50m (£42.9m).

In short, he could cost up to £25m less than the Manchester clubs may have thought. Monaco “greatly admire” the winger and would rather not sell at all, but they know their hand will likely be forced this summer. PSG are also interested having failed to persuade Mohamed Salah to switch allegiances from Liverpool.

The 3AM Verdict: €80m always sounded like far too much for a winger who may be deeply dangerous as a ball-carrier and creator, but who doesn’t necessarily offer the sort of end product that you expect for that kind of sum. Something closer to £40m feels rather fairer…

Chelsea & Spurs eye up Serie A starlet

From Manchester to London for our second story – according to Caught Offside, both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are “keen” on Como’s impressive young midfielder Nico Paz, who has been hugely impressive in Serie A this season.

The 20-year-old, who came through the ranks at Real Madrid but left for first-team action in the summer, is apparently “highly rated” by his compatriot Lionel Messi, and probably by most people who have watched him play, so it’s not surprising that a couple of Premier League teams are making eyes at him.

Apparently Real have a budget-friendly buy-back clause set at €9m (£7.7m), which is only 50% more than the amount Como paid for him a year ago, but there are no immediate indications that he’s heading back to the Spanish capital. Also no word on how much an English side without such a clause might have to pay.

The 3AM Verdict: The buyback clause could end up constraining how much Como can realistically charge for him, which might make signing Paz a rare chance to grab a genuinely gifted attacking midfielder at a knock-down price. We haven’t seen many other reliable sources making the link to Chelsea and Spurs yet so we aren’t confident that they’re genuinely interested, but it’s hardly difficult to imagine given the season Paz has had.

Villa eyeing move for England star

Let’s round things off with a story from the second city – according to GiveMeSport (who cite Sun journalist Alan Nixon), Aston Villa are “poised to make a move” for Crystal Palace and England attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.

Plenty of teams are interested in Eze, of course, but it looks like Villa’s move for him could be conditional – on Unai Emery and Monchi deciding not to trigger Marcus Rashford’s £40m purchase option.

Elsewhere, Nixon also reportedly claims that already-relegated Southampton are “keen on” West Ham winger Luis Guilherme after a disappointing first season in English football for the Hammers’ summer signing. West Ham want to recoup their £20m investment but are otherwise happy to sell.

The 3AM Verdict: The problem with the Villa-Eze rumour is that it seems to be contingent on Villa not doing something they’re almost certainly going to do, which is sign Rashford permanently. It’s hard to prove or disprove a story when the conditions aren’t likely to be met, but there have been whispers that Rashford may want to move abroad if the option presents itself. As for the Guilherme story, West Ham do indeed want to sell but we suspect the player may set higher a target for himself than joining a Championship side.

Manchester City have expressed a strong interest in talented Tottenham Hotspur left-back Destiny Udogie ahead of a potential move for the Italian this summer. Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg understands the Sky Blues will be in the market for a new marquee left-back signing this summer – with youngster Nico O’Reilly currently starting in the position.

City already have Josko Gvardiol in their ranks but have recently moved the Croatian over to centre-back while Rico Lewis is seen primarily as a right-back despite covering on the left on occasion. Tottenham, however, are keen to do everything they can to keep the former Udinese man on board with his existing contract running until 2030.

Plettenberg explained via X: “Understand Tottenham definitely want to keep Destiny #Udogie for the upcoming season. He is considered a key player in their squad planning, which is why there is currently no price tag – despite interest from several top clubs. Instead, the club are more likely to consider signing a back-up for the 22 y/o left-back. His contract runs until 2030.”

Why Man City want Destiny Udogie

Manchester City are experiencing their most difficult season to date under Pep Guardiola and a great deal of that is down to their lack of stability in defence. Last season’s champions have leaked 42 goals in 32 games in the league this season, and have struggled to name a consistent back-line due to a combination of injuries and poor form.

Age is catching up with a number of City’s senior stars and there is a growing feeling around the Etihad that the club need to plan for the future to climb the league table.

Destiny Udogie is not yet the finished product but is viewed as a player with a high ceiling at 22-years-of-age, having enjoyed two excellent seasons at Udinese and a solid debut season at Spurs where he was nominated for the Young Player of the Year award last term. The left-back has not hit the same heights this term after succumbing to injury on occasion, but remains highly rated due to his pace, overlapping runs and physicality.

The bold swap deal Tottenham and Man City could look to strike

Football Insider reported earlier today that Man City will entertain offers for James McAtee as they do not view him among the options to replace Kevin de Bruyne.Tottenham were heavily linked with McAtee in January as per Graeme Bailey, and are believed to be admirers of the midfielder that was once described as ‘special’ by Pep Guardiola.

McAtee is also 22-years-old and is capable of playing in a wide variety of midfield positions. He won the FA Youth Cup with City in 2020, won the Academy Player of the Year in 2021, and in 2023 was awarded Sheffield United’ Player of the Season after helping the team to promotion from the Championship in a season-long loan spell.

The England Under-21 international could potentially offer Spurs an alternative to James Maddison in the creative midfield position and would add valuable depth in an injury crisis. He too has high potential, having scored seven in 24 games as would offer Spurs something different in their quest to climb the ladder next term.

Go back just a few months, and the court of public opinion was delivering a hung jury on the question of whether Ange Postecoglou was the right man to manage Tottenham Hotspur. As many people as would have fired him in Daniel Levy’s shoes would have backed him to the hilt in the summer transfer window. Now, however, it feels as though a decision has been made.

It isn’t just that Spurs are on course for their worst league performance since 1993/94, although that does rather make a difference – it’s also because the relationship between Postecoglou and the fans has broken down, and it’s pretty plain at this point that the Australian expects the axe to fall as soon as the curtain falls on the season. But what comes next?

Spurs seem set to sack Ange Postecoglou – so where do they turn next?

You know that the fans have made up their mind when they start jeering your substitutions. You know that you’ve ceased to care when you start celebrating directly at them when that substitute promptly scores. And you know that fate simply doesn’t want you at Spurs any more when VAR then rules the goal out.

That’s what happened after Pape Matar Sarr scored a disallowed equaliser against Chelsea in early April and while Postecoglou would quickly admit that gesturing towards his own team’s supporters had been a mistake, the damage had been done. Within days, he would be joking that his two-year tenure was “pretty good” for a Spurs boss, an implicit insult towards the way that chairman Levy has handled the club and its coaching appointments.

If there was any doubt in Levy’s mind about whether to blame his own substandard squad-building for Spurs’ struggles this season or whether to pin it all at Postecolgou’s door and replace him, then it seems likely that it will have been made up by now. Postecoglou seems past caring, a man who knows he’s got a P45 in the post.

Unsurprisingly, then, the rumour mill has started to crank out suggestions for the next Spurs manager with renewed vigour, with a number of reports suggesting that Levy’s shortlist is effectively down to two managers already – Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Fulham’s Marco Silva.

Iraola is starting to look a little tricky to get hold of. The Evening Standard has reported that the Spaniard is minded to stay at the Vitality Stadium for the time being while Bill Foley, the Cherries’ American owner, is hoping to persuade Iraola to pen a new contract.

The job that Iraola has done at Bournemouth, transforming them quickly from respectable also-rans into highly entertaining European contenders, suggests that he would make a fine appointment, but he may well simply not be available – and if he does decide to continue his career elsewhere, then there may well be suitors with more continental football and fewer glaring issues.

So that could conceivably leave Silva in a field of one – but is he the right man for the job, and will Spurs be able to snare him?

Is Marco Silva the best choice to be Spurs manager?

Fulham’s vice-chairman, Tony Khan, has already made it abundantly clear that the Cottagers want to keep Silva around, telling BBC Radio London that they want the Portuguese coach to stay at the club “forever”. But it’s less clear that Silva himself is so attached to his current project.

Silva has already gently criticised Fulham’s transfer policy, hinting that they need to stop losing their better players to achieve better results over time – it may not exactly scream ‘trouble in paradise’ but it does hint at a coach who could be open to other options.

Not that Spurs’ transfer policy doesn’t have plenty of critics. A simple fact is that it won’t matter who they appoint if they keep failing to sign the kind of players that their managers need. For too long, investment has been sporadic or unfocussed and Levy has struggled to line up recruitment with the tactical needs of his coach.

But one thing Silva has done very well at Fulham is make do with what he has at hand. His squad is largely made up of player cast off from other Premier League sides for one perfectly valid reason or another, and yet they remain firmly in touch with a chance at European qualification while playing what is often very fine football.

The style of play matters, too. Since controversially sacking Mauricio Pochettino back in 2019, Spurs have veered between progressive and conservative coaches, those that demand certain traits in their playing staff and those who value entirely different qualities. Given that none have stayed for very long – Postecoglou wasn’t wrong about that – the result has been squads half-shaped to one manager’s needs before being passed off to another who doesn’t get all the resources he wants either.

In moving on from Postecoglou, Spurs have to ensure that they find a manager who can make use of the squad they have now, even if they intend to tweak it. Silva prefers to play with a 4-2-3-1 with a high press, an aggressive midfield pairing and some speed and flair further forward combined with a target forward. That’s something Spurs can conjure up.

Silva isn’t so far removed from Postecoglou as a tactician, even if his personal manner is very different, and a move from one to the other would offer a degree of continuity that Spurs haven’t had for a very long time. Even if Postecoglou isn’t the right man for the job, they need to continue down the broader path they chose when they appointed him. Another series of abrupt left turns won’t take them anywhere useful.

So for once, Spurs have a target, and it’s a manager who has just one year left on his contract and who doesn’t seem to be reassured that his current employers are doing everything right. Silva seems like a sensible, measured choice who has the right combination of tactical acumen, appropriate playing style and experience of the Premier League. It feels like Levy has a pretty clear path ahead of him – let’s see if he walks it.

It’s time for Thursday’s round-up of all the freshest and juiciest new Premier League transfer rumours, and today we’re going to start with a story which suggests that Aston Villa may face a bit of a battle to keep hold of a key player this summer.

A new report from Football Insider mentions that Manchester City could launch a bid to re-sign academy graduate Morgan Rogers this summer following an impressive season in the Midlands – but Villa are “confident” that they can hang on to their attacking midfielder.

Rogers, who never made a senior appearance for City before leaving, would apparently be “hesitant” to head back to the Etihad after making such good progress with his current club, and in any case only recently signed a new deal which will keep him with Villa for another five years.

Villa, for their part, don’t want to lose Rogers and are “hopeful” that they can persuade him to stay put if Manchester City do firm up their interest with a bid. Separately, the article also adds its voice to recent rumours linking Villa with a move for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.

The 3AM Verdict: We’re not sure there is any serious interest from City in Rogers, quite frankly, and it’s not something we’ve heard from any reliable outlets as yet. As the article points out, this isn’t a point in Rogers’ career at which we’d expect him to push for a move. Keeping at the club should be straightforward – but that may not be the case with Marcus Rashford…

Serie A side have ‘dream’ of signing Spurs star

Villa aren’t the only club in danger of losing a key attacking midfielder, it would seem – Sport Witness have dug up some stories from Italy which suggest that Napoli’s “dream” signing would be Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski.

The report is sceptical of the claim, noting that Spurs would likely need a fee in excess of anything Napoli are willing or able to pay even if the player did decide to pursue a move to the Italian title contenders.

Still, Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna is supposedly “at work to try and make the transfer happen”, and the financial hurdles don’t seem to be dissuading the Serie A side just yet. Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho remains a back-up plan after being linked with a move in January.

The 3AM Verdict: As with Rogers, we really doubt that Kulusevski will go anywhere, although it’s easier for a side bound for the Champions League to make a strong case to the player himself. Garnacho seems to be a much more realistic option as it stands.

West Ham ‘offer contract’ to Southampton man

Finally, some news on a slightly understated but potentially significant race for one of the Premier League’s more in-demand free agents – TBR Football allege that West Ham have “offered a contract” to full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, who is set to leave Southampton on a Bosman following their relegation.

Walker-Peters was among the small handful of Saints players to emerge from a desperate season with any credit, and the former England international is in “high demand” with Tottenham Hotspur also speaking to the player’s representatives.

Fulham and Crystal Palace have also “shown an interest”, apparently, and Chelsea are supposedly “monitoring” Walker-Peters’ situation in case they want to add some depth and experience down the sides of the defence – but it’s West Ham who have made the first move and perhaps edged ahead in the race.

The 3AM Verdict: Walker-Peters has quietly compiled another very solid season despite the struggles Southampton have endured and while he might not be a flashy addition to a Premier League squad, he has experience and quality and wouldn’t cost a penny up front. As such, we’re not surprised that there’s a queue.

A new week is underway, but out duties at 3 Added Minutes remain much the same – keeping you up to date with all the latest Premier League transfer rumours courtesy of our daily digest of some of the spiciest new stories.

We’ll start things off today with a story which suggests that the odds of seemingly unlikely deal between Aston Villa and Chelsea “have increased” – Caught Offside reckon that Villa are among the sides interested in striking an agreement over England winger Noni Madueke.

Madueke could, apparently, be forced down the pecking order at Chelsea by new additions to the front line this summer, and it’s also claimed that the club have “been less than impressed with [his] attitude during training”.

Villa will have “significant funds to spend” this summer, it’s said, and Madueke could be a target even if permanent deals for Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio can be completed. They’ll have competition for Madueke, however, with AC Milan also taking a look.

The 3AM Verdict: Madueke was an important part of some of Chelsea’s better attacking performances this season and their output in the final third declined noticeably after he was injured, so we do wonder if he really will be so far down in their estimation – the again, we aren’t at Cobham or in the dressing room, so perhaps there are problems. No transfer fee is mentioned, but we’re still not entirely convinced that this is all that likely to happen. With Cheslea, however, we’re always left guessing as to who they might buy or sell next.

Spurs show ‘considerable interest’ in Brazilian wonderkid

Over to a story for Tottenham Hotspur supporters, now – according to TeamTalk, Spurs are showing “considerable interest” in teenage striker Rayan, who has been earning warm reviews for his performances for Vasco da Gama in his homeland.

The 18-year-old has been likened to powerhouse striker Adriano and it sounds as though plenty of teams are keen, with the article noting that other outlets have linked the youngster with a long list of Premier League sides, including Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.

But Spurs are supposedly making “a real push” for Rayan as part of a commitment to signing top young talent, and have allegedly been tracking him since he was just 16. Rayan, who can also play on either wing, would provide depth across a front line which needs some extra bodies next year.

The 3AM Verdict: This feels like a somewhat speculative report, with no claims of negotiations or conversations taking place and no financial details, which always makes a rumour feel less likely to come good. Some form of bidding war does seem likely, however, even though Rayan’s scoring record at senior level is pretty modest so far.

Manchester United ‘very much like’ Serie A star

We’re going to hear a lot about Manchester United’s alleged targets this transfer window – nothing new, of course, but with their extended rebuild still in progress, the club’s name will come up in plenty of columns like this over the coming months, as it does today courtesy of a Sport Witness story.

They cites sources from the Italian media in claiming that Manchester United “very much like” Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo, who seems set to leave La Viola after talks over a new contract broke down.

Apparently, they turned down a €35m (£29.8m) offer from Napoli in January but Comuzzo’s refusal to sign a new deal has changed the situation, and United lead “extensive interest” from the Premier League. Spurs, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal are all also said to be looking at the talented 20-year-old.

The 3AM Verdict: One for the future when United perhaps need players who can improve them now, but since when has that stopped them? Still, this is a new rumour to us so we’ll believe it when we’ve seen a little more corroboration. That said, the chance that he leaves certainly puts another intriguing talent on the radar this summer, whether he ends up at United or not.

Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in the unusual position of mid-table obscurity as top-flight teams around them prepare for the final run-in and the business end of the season.

Typically Spurs have been a club that always battle for some form of European football and in recent times only finishing in a Europa League spot as opposed to the Champions League has been classed a disappointing showing.

However, the Lillywhites for just the second time since 2006 find themselves at risk of having no football on the continent next season, unless they can do something they haven’t done since 1984 and win the Europa League this season.

Spurs have not finished outside the top 10 since 2008, which was ironically the last season in which the club won silverware. They also find themselves closer to the relegation places than Champions League football, with an 18 point gap separating themselves and fourth placed Chelsea after Thursday’s defeat.

The North London outfit have been unfortunate with injuries throughout the season, which in some way can explain the team’s poor performances. However, it feels almost inevitable that the team will once again have to spend big in the summer window if they are to bridge the gap between themselves and the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, who have all made strides in recent seasons. With that in mind, we take a look at the seen deals already in the pipeline in the capital.

Defensive stalwart faces uncertain future

London World understands Tottenham could face a tricky situation this summer amid talk of a possible departure for star defender Cristian Romero.

The outlet explains that the Argentine centre back could seek a move away from London if they don’t achieve European qualification this year, with reports elsewhere also stating a sale could be considered due to the 26-year-old’s poor recent injury record.

Trembath said on the latest Spurs podcast: “He's a real key player. Yes, he's missed a number of games through injury, not once but twice in terms of seasons at Spurs. But he's a real leader. He's a top player. And you have to admit, they've probably missed him at the best of times this season. It's a bit of the curious case of Cristian Romero, I think, sometimes. World Cup winner, Copa America winner, always seems to be available for Argentina. A lot of Spurs fans are a little bit sceptical about that.”

He added amid talks of an exit: “Atletico Madrid are linked with him, Aston Villa are linked with him. All the signs are that he's got two years left on his deal and he'll be walking away this summer.

Tottenham plot £75m statement signing

Christian Romero’s potential exit could spark a fresh push from Tottenham to sign former Chelsea defender Marc Guehi this summer. The England international, who was heavily linked with Newcastle United last summer, will have one year remaining on his contract by the start of next season and could be someone that the Eagles cash in on to avoid losing on a free.

TBR Football claims that the Lillywhites are huge admirers of Guehi, who could take their defence to the next level this season after impressing at Selhurst Park.

A shrewd free agent arrival

Tottenham and West Ham are both believed to be interested in soon to be out-of-contract Lille star Angel Gomes this summer.

The Manchester United academy graduate is expected to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer and could seek a move back to English football to boost his World Cup 2026 chances after finally breaking into the Three Lions team during Lee Carsley’s brief stint as England interim boss before Thomas Tuchel’s permanent arrival at Wembley Stadium.

Football Insider understands the North London side have already held talks with Gomes’ representatives as they push hard to secure a deal. In a further boost it’s also widely reported that Gomes has already turned down an offer in excess of £100,000 a week by West Ham with his preference reportedly being a return to North London after growing up in Edmonton.

A big £40m forward signing

Mathys Tel's move to Tottenham from Bayern Munich is a six-month loan deal with an option to buy. The Frenchman is yet to score in seven appearances across all competitions and hasn’t yet reached the heights expected of him after showing great promise under Thomas Tuchel earlier in his Bundesliga career.

However, he is thought to be one for the future and potentially a player that could prove a great understudy to Dominic Solanke in attack next season as Ange Postecoglou’s side look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign.

Trio leave Tottenham for free

Former Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon arrived at Spurs with great promise and impressed in his early months with his excellent attacking instincts and pinpoint crossing.

However, due to a combination of injuries, poor form and a number of underwhelming loan spells, it appears he’s now surplus to requirements as he approaches the end of his contract.

Backup goalkeeper Fraser Forster also has just months remaining on his deal with the club and at 37 could move onto pastures new at the end of the campaign. Long-serving defender Ben Davies has also found first team opportunities hard to come by this year and is at risk of leaving this summer after an 11-year association with the Lillywhites.

Former Manchester United wonderkid Angel Gomes is expected to be at the centre of a huge transfer tug of war this summer, as he approaches the final few months of his contract at Lille.

Give Me Sport are just one of a number of outlets to claim that the four-time England international has decided against signing an extension with Ligue 1 side Lille, with a return to English football looking like the most likely proposition.

Gomes has played a combined total of 134 matches for his current club and has earned experience in the Champions League, Europa Conference League and Ligue 1 over the last four years whilst evolving into a very different midfielder to the one that left English football back in 2020.

The 24-year-old midfielder has four senior caps for the England national team which all came during Lee Carsley’s short-interim stint with England. He now has high hopes of being a part of Thomas Tuchel’s team in just over 12 months time at the 2026 World Cup, despite failing to make his initial squad. But who is Angel Gomes, why are the big clubs interested in him, and where is he likely to end up this summer?

Who is Angel Gomes?

Angel Gomes is a 24-year-old midfielder, who was born in North London in Edmonton. He joined the highly esteemed Manchester United academy at the age of six and quickly made a name for himself at Carrington. He progressed rapidly through the age groups, while establishing himself as an exciting, technically gifted midfielder.

Gomes was initially viewed as an attacking playmaker, and was even compared to Ronaldinho, when he won the highly esteemed Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year for United’s reserve team in 2017 - an achievement which saw him follow in the footsteps of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck among others.

The 5ft 6in midfielder was a regular for England from Under-16 level all the way up to the Under-21s. Between 2015 and 2023, he racked up 54 appearances at various age groups winning the Under-17 World Cup in 2017 with Steve Cooper, while also winning the Under-21 European Championship with Lee Carsley in 2023.

Gomes made just 10 first team appearances during his time at Old Trafford and after finding first team opportunities limited, chose to leave the Red Devils on a free transfer despite having numerous contract offers to stay.

He joined Lille on a free transfer in 2020 but spent his first year out on loan with Boavista in Portugal. He was integrated into the team the following year and ultimately made the defensive midfield position his own. Despite his relatively small frame, he was praised for his ability to break up play, keep possession and unlock defences in deeper areas, with his composure on the ball and ability to spin past opponents on the half term among his eye-catching attributes.

Gomes was integral to England’s success with Carsley at Under-21 level, and displayed glimpses of his ability for the senior side during the same manager’s brief interim spell in charge of the senior side.

West Ham look set to miss out on Angel Gomes

The Premier League is clearly, the most likely destination for Angel Gomes but Guardian Sport revealed West Ham as unlikely candidates to land the 24-year-old.

The outlet explained: “West Ham’s proposal of a deal worth £100,000 a week to the England midfielder, who is of interest to Barcelona, is not high enough. There are other complications to iron out if the move is to go ahead and multiple sources are not confident an agreement will be reached."

Meanwhile, reports from London World suggested that Tottenham have already kickstarted talks to bring Gomes to north London, as they look to revamp their squad after their worst league campaign in more than a decade. However, they won’t be alone in their pursuit, and United - amid speculation surrounding the future of Kobbie Mainoo - could also look to re-sign a former academy prospect who is familiar with the area.

Wherever Gomes eventually moves is likely to partially depend on his chances of representing the Three Lions at the upcoming World Cup, and trying to find a home in Thomas Tuchel’s new-look team. With Spurs desperate for his skills in the heart of their struggling midfield, Gomes could find himself the ideal platform to finally prove himself as one of England’s most exciting talents.
