Description

Tottenham are expected to add a marquee signing to their forward line amid links to Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo.

Thomas Frank will be keen to rebuild the Tottenham squad in his image after succeeding Ange Postecoglou in North London.

It has been widely reported that the Dane has requested that Tottenham sign Mbeumo from Brentford. However, Bournemouth’s star forward Semenyo is also reportedly a target.

And it is expected that one of those players will be playing his football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

Tottenham to sign Mbeumo or Semenyo, Man Utd to sign the other

Tottenham beat Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final last season, confirming a place in the UEFA Champions League and leaving the Red Devils in a woeful position.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it seems as though the two clubs are still shopping in the same market, with Ruben Amorim’s side widely reported to be leading the race for Mbeumo, while also holding an interest of their own in Semenyo.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes one of Mbeumo or Semenyo will end up in North London, while the other will head to Manchester.

“I’d rather Mbeumo over Semenyo,” Wenham said.

“Semenyo is an exciting player, but Mbeumo is just a little bit more polished, and that’s why I’d prefer him out of the two players. If we could get Mbeumo, that would be a fantastic signing, a Premier League-ready player who can make an instant impact.

“I get the impression that one of Mbeumo or Semenyo will end up at Tottenham, and the other will end up at Manchester United.

“Either would improve our squad, a squad which needs improving ahead of next season’s Champions League. For either player, Tottenham would be a huge step up, and I also think they’d be in our strongest team almost instantly.

“However, as I said, while either would be fantastic, I’d prefer Mbeumo.”

Tottenham will need to pick up the pace to secure Mbeumo

Mbeumo would be an excellent signing for Spurs; he is technical, has elite output and has already implemented Frank’s philosophy at the highest level.

However, with United determined to secure his signing, Tottenham will need to act fast to compete.

Semenyo would be a good alternative if the Lilywhites miss out on Mbeumo. With Son Heung-min’s future uncertain and Champions League football to play for, his direct, attacking style would be a massive benefit.

But even though he can play across the frontline, his best position seems to be on the left wing. As a result, Spurs would still need to hunt for a right winger to compete with Brennan Johnson for a starting spot.

Therefore, if Tottenham wants to complete the signing of either player, they will need to start making moves in the summer transfer window.

Thomas Frank ‘damaged goods’ at Tottenham after Levy agreement

Description

Daniel Levy and Thomas Frank have both inherited a tricky situation at Tottenham.

The ex-Brentford manager was chosen by the Spurs hierarchy to replace Ange Postecoglou despite the Europa League final victory.

He is set to lead the Lilywhites into a new era and, perhaps more importantly, back into the Champions League.

However, while he is a very promising manager, it was a brave decision from Levy and Co. to hand him the reins in North London.

Frank taking on huge risk with Tottenham job

Frank faces a tough job to replace the Australian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Levy could face significant backlash if the appointment does not work out.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Iconic commentator and Premier League expert Ian Darke believes Frank will ultimately damage his reputation if he does not succeed at Tottenham, but he is fully aware of what working with Levy entails.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Probably Thomas Frank, I would say, although he has built up so much credit in the bank for the job he has done at Brentford.

“Even if it didn’t work out for him at Tottenham, it is likely people would shrug their shoulders and say ‘well, you know, Tottenham can be a bit of a basket case club, with all the politics, it is a difficult place to be a manager.

“He would be slightly damaged goods if it didn’t work out for him, is it a risk for Levy? Well, if it is, it is one he is very anxious to take as he has sacked a manager who just won him a trophy.

“He is never going to be Mr Popular with the supporters, a lot of them have made it pretty clear that they want him out, that is what Frank has got to deal with, he has got to become the master of the mad house a little bit.”

Frank set up to fail by Levy at Tottenham

Scrutiny on Frank will be at an all-time high, given the stature of Spurs and the fact that his predecessor won the N17 club’s first trophy in 17 years.

It seems inevitable that is a matter of when rather than if he will be sacked, as the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte were before him, especially given Levy’s lofty ambitions of winning the highest honours.

That is not to say Frank will be sacked anytime soon, but the average tenure for a Spurs manager in recent times is under a year and a half.

To avoid that and give him a fighting chance of keeping the job on a long-term basis, Levy needs to back his man with a significant amount of funding in the transfer window to bring in the likes of Bryan Mbeumo.

Brentford and Mbeumo ready to greenlight Tottenham transfer as £60m+ bid made

Description

Tottenham could be set to beat Manchester United to the signing of Bryan Mbeumo.

Thomas Frank has reportedly asked Tottenham to sign Mbeumo from his former club, Brentford.

The Lilywhites were thought to be second choice, with Mbeumo widely reported to prefer a move to Manchester United. However, it seems as though this transfer saga has now taken a twist.

Brentford want £70m for Mbeumo as Man Utd submit £60m+ bid

As reported by Duncan Castles via The Transfers Podcast on Thursday (19 June), Brentford have now accepted they will need to sell Mbeumo this summer.

United have offered a package worth over £60million, but it is understood that the Bees want £70m for their star forward, who is out of contract at the Gtech Community Stadium next summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

As well as the Red Devils, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are understood to be interested.

And despite reports that Mbeumo would prefer a switch to Old Trafford, Castles reports that the Cameroonian could choose Tottenham over United if the Lilywhites match Brentford’s asking price.

Tottenham should act fast for Mbeumo

The Lilywhites are running out of time to secure Mbeumo’s signature, with United determined to sign the forward this summer.

Mbuemo to Tottenham just makes sense. He had a stand-out season for Brentford, netting 20 goals and contributing nine assists in 42 appearances.

While Brennan Johnson scored the winner for Spurs in the UEFA Europa League final, there are still limited options on the right flank.

All the best teams in the world have at least two starters in each position. Luis Enrique’s PSG and Pep Guardiola’s Man City are prime examples, and both have been successful domestically.

The competition for a starting spot would encourage both players to perform at their best level each game. Furthermore, signing Mbeumo would put Spurs in an excellent position to compete for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Tottenham need squad depth for more than internal competition. The football calendar is packed, and Spurs will feel it even more now that they are playing at the highest level in Europe.

As a result, rotation is a must, and Mbeumo could help provide that. Therefore, Spurs must advance their efforts to sign him or miss out on another star player.

Tottenham ‘to sign Marc Guéhi ahead of Jarrad Branthwaite’ – Exclusive

Tottenham ‘to sign Marc Guéhi ahead of Jarrad Branthwaite’ – Exclusive - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Jarrad Branthwaite and Marc Guéhi have both been linked with moves to Tottenham.

Tottenham could be in the market for a new centre-back this summer as Cristian Romero continues to be linked with Atletico Madrid.

The Lilywhites had a deadline day bid rejected for Crystal Palace centre-back Guéhi during the winter transfer window, and have more recently been linked with a move for Everton’s Branthwaite.

However, this rumour has caused some confusion, with an expectation that Tottenham will sign Guéhi ahead of Branthwaite this summer.

Tottenham could spend big on Guéhi

Branthwaite has reportedly emerged as a top target for Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to Mail Sport (16 June), Thomas Frank’s side are weighing up an approach for the Everton star, and could formalise their interest as soon as this week.

Tottenham will need to act fast as four other Premier League sides, including Chelsea, are also considering a swoop for Branthwaite, who Everton are reluctant to sell.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that if Tottenham are going to spend big money on a centre-back this summer, it will be Guéhi.

“For me, this is a strange one,” Wenham said.

“Branthwaite is a left-footed, left-sided central defender, and we’ve got Micky van de Ven in that position already. Therefore, if we’re going to spend big money, I think we will sign Guéhi.

“It seems odd that Tottenham would invest heavily in a player who would be an understudy to van de Ven.

“We’re not Manchester City; we’re not going to spend big money on someone unless they’re going straight into the team. As a result, I don’t really believe those rumours.”

Tottenham should consider Guéhi an excellent alternative

Several of the Premier League’s biggest clubs have been linked with Branthwaite. Therefore, the 22-year-old’s situation is certainly one to watch this summer.

However, Spurs would be better off signing Guéhi, especially if Romero does leave, as the England international would slot in seamlessly alongside van de Ven.

As a result, any big-money offer from Tottenham for a new centre-back should be sent to Selhurst Park, rather than the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

‘Tottenham to win the Champions League’ after Kudus transfer news – reaction - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Thomas Frank’s arrival has seen multiple players linked to Tottenham in recent weeks.

One such player is Mohammed Kudus, who has had a decent start to life in the Premier League since his move to West Ham in 2023.

The winger netted 18 times in all competitions in his first season at the London Stadium. While he wasn’t able to replicate this in the last campaign, he is still seen as a top player.

As a result, Tottenham are pursuing Kudus as they look to strengthen their attacking options.

Tottenham fans overjoyed by Kudus links

Tottenham need a new winger this summer if they are to challenge for trophies again next season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

As a result, it was recently revealed that Spurs are willing to pay £50 million for Kudus, which would make him one of the most expensive arrivals at the London club in their history.

Despite this being below Kudus’ release clause, West Ham will consider the offer.

With the transfer seemingly edging closer, many of Tottenham’s fans are overjoyed at the news.

Some even believe that their recent transfer rumours show that Spurs intend on “winning the Champions League” this season.

However, other Spurs fans are unsure if Tottenham will be able to get the transfer over the line. The fact that he plays for West Ham and the low-ball offer suggests that it may be a tough negotiation.

Kudus would be a risky signing for Spurs

As good as Kudus was for West Ham, most of his excellent performances came over 12 months ago.

There is a real risk that Tottenham may end up spending £50m plus on a one-season wonder.

Therefore, the signing of Kudus needs to be carefully considered as they are many better options out there for cheaper.

Hopefully, Daniel Levy and Frank assess all potential targets before finalising the move for the 24-year-old.

Description

Tottenham are reportedly plotting a move for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the 22-year-old’s recent groin issues ahead of a potential transfer.

Spurs are keen on signing Branthwaite, given his standout performances for the Toffees over the past two seasons.

Spurs told to look at Branthwaite’s groin issues before making a transfer decision

While Branthwaite is not expected to fail his medical, the groin issues are something that can recur, according to Dr Brar.

This comes as Tottenham are weighing up an approach for the Everton defender, who’s expected to cost £70million.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Mail reported on 16 June that the Lilywhites’ interest in the English centre-back could be formalised this week.

Discussing the state of play with Branthwaite exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

“Spurs may take a closer look at the recent history of groin problems, particularly since he had surgery last summer, but then had another occurrence,” he said.

“These issues can recur in the future so the club will certainly do their due diligence.

“It should cause any issues with the medical, per se.“

Tottenham must prioritise signing Branthwaite

Branthwaite would be a solid signing for Tottenham due to his impressive attributes and potential to bolster their defence.

At 22, the Everton centre-back combines physical dominance with technical ability, standing at 6 feet 5 and excelling in aerial duels while being adept in possession.

His standout performances in the 2024/25 Premier League season, helping Everton avoid relegation comfortably, showcase his reliability and composure under pressure.

Branthwaite’s left-footedness addresses Spurs’ need for balance in their backline, complementing existing defenders like Cristian Romero.

His ability to also play as a makeshift left-back or a left-centre-back in a back three gives Frank the flexibility to tinker with his system.

With Tottenham aiming to strengthen their squad for Champions League football under Frank, Branthwaite’s youth, versatility and proven Premier League pedigree make him a long-term investment to enhance defensive stability and compete at the highest level, making it imperative for the owners to back the Dane.

‘Mikey Moore lined up for exit’, ex-Tottenham chief named in £17m transfer update

Mikey Moore’s breakthrough season at Tottenham has attracted suitors vying to sign the talented teenager.

The 17-year-old made 20 senior appearances for Spurs last season, notably impressing in the group stages of the Europa League before a long-term illness stunted his progress over winter.

The winger became England’s youngest-ever scorer in a major European competition when he scored in Tottenham’s 3-0 win against IF Elfsborg.

His performances earned him the captain’s armband for the Three Lions’ fixture against Norway in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, where Moore suffered an innocuous injury after scoring the equaliser.

His rapid rise has seen him become one of the hottest prospects in English football, and has caught the attention of a former Tottenham associate who looks set to prise him away from North London.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Juventus interested in signing Moore

Thomas Frank gave his first official interview as Tottenham’s new head coach on Wednesday (18 June), stating his excitement about nurturing the abundance of young players at Hotspur Way.

Archie Gray, who the 51-year-old wanted to sign for the Bees before the Lilywhites swooped in, was one of the names mentioned, along with the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert.

Moore would likely be another player the Dane would be enthusiatic to work with, however Tottenham could be set to lose the teenager this summer.

As reported in La Gazzetta Dello Sport (P6, 19 June), Juventus are looking to bring him to Turin, with former Spurs football director Damien Comolli fronting the interest from the Italian giants.

Comolli, now a general manager at the Old Lady, still has strong ties with his former employers, and hopes to use his connection to secure a deal worth £17million for the Spurs academy product.

Despite any sale for Moore counting as pure profit for the Londoners, Tottenham are expected to offer stiff resistence for their most gifted academy player since Harry Kane.

Tottenham must keep hold of Moore

Spurs’ academy has fallen short of producing players worthy of regular first-team action in recent years, despite huge investment in it’s development in tandem with building the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, it is thought the current crop of youngsters is far more promising, with Moore the shining light of the recent graduates.

His youthful bravery and quality on the ball has excited the Lilywhites, while his temperment and work ethic belie his age.

His talent must be allowed to prosper further at Tottenham, especially with the club’s desperate need to increase their homegrown quota for the Champions League.

Tottenham’s likely Premier League position predicted after 2025-26 fixture release

Tottenham’s likely Premier League position predicted after 2025-26 fixture release - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham fans will be hoping for a much better performance from their club in the 2025-26 Premier League.

The North London side finished 17th last season, a ranking which ultimately cost Ange Postecoglou his job at Tottenham.

Spurs have appointed Thomas Frank now, and he’s expected to be heavily backed in the transfer market in a bid to propel Spurs up the league.

Bookmakers predict Tottenham league finish

The Premier League fixtures were released on Wednesday (18 June), and Tottenham have been dealt a generous opening to the 2025-26 season.

The release of these fixtures has led many bookmakers to update their odds surrounding Tottenham’s performance in the league next year.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Figures published by OddsChecker (19 June) suggest that Tottenham now have the joint-seventh lowest odds to win the Premier League next year. They’re level with Aston Villa, who missed out on the Champions League places by goal difference last season.

These figures suggest that most bookmakers expect Tottenham to finish seventh or eighth in the upcoming season. That would represent a significant improvement on last year’s league form.

You can get odds of 70/1 for Tottenham to win next year’s Premier League. Liverpool are the bookies’ favourites, followed by Arsenal and Manchester City.

A top-half finish would represent significant progress for Spurs

The idea of a steady top-half finish might not sound too exciting for some Tottenham fans.

After all, this is a club that has regularly qualified for the Champions League and will compete among Europe’s elite next season.

Sadly, Spurs took a huge backward step under Postecoglou last season (domestically, at least), and that will take some time to repair.

If Frank can get Tottenham playing entertaining football and competing well in the majority of their Premier League matches, a top-half finish should be seen as good progress.

A long run in one or more of the cup competitions would be an even bigger sign that the club is moving in the right direction.

Frank will need to hit the ground running, given his side’s generous start to the Premier League season. He should expect to be comfortably nestled in the top half after his first ten games, and that would provide a solid foundation to build from.

Thomas Frank faces ‘unfair’ Tottenham situation as large-scale protests mooted

Thomas Frank faces ‘unfair’ Tottenham situation as large-scale protests mooted - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Thomas Frank is already facing an uphill battle just days after he was appointed Tottenham Head Coach.

Frank was not everybody’s first pick to succeed Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

There remain doubts over whether the Dane has the credentials to coach Spurs despite establishing Brentford as a mid-table Premier League side.

And these doubts could all come bubbling to the surface in the form of large-scale protests in N17.

Tottenham fans could revolt against Frank

Daniel Levy replaced Postecoglou with Frank, despite most Spurs players being close with the Australian.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The players sent out several heartfelt messages when Postecoglou was sacked earlier this month.

Several players publicly backed Postecoglou while his future was uncertain, and were no doubt gutted to see the 59-year-old leave.

It is even believed that defender Cristian Romero could transfer to Atletico Madrid as a result of Postecoglou’s departure.

As a result, Frank is walking into a tense dressing room and could face issues establishing his position. Tottenham supporters were also in Postecoglou’s corner and may be less inclined to give their new manager the time he needs to succeed.

Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Frank could lose the fans if he does not start well, which could lead to large-scale protests.

“All of the players were visibly behind Postecoglou,” Wenham said.

“Therefore, unless Frank hits the ground running, this is going to be seen as another massive error by Levy, and with the fan protests we’ve already had, I could see them exploding if it doesn’t go well for Frank early doors.

“That is very difficult and unfair on him. However, that is the reality and a build-up of previous Levy decisions. Things need to start well for Frank, and if it does, fans will buy in. However, if it doesn’t, there could be big problems.”

Frank will need to show potential at Tottenham

After last season, Spurs supporters will be expecting silverware during Frank’s first year, but these are unrealistic expectations.

A top-five finish in the Premier League seems like a more tangible goal for the 51-year-old’s first season in charge. This could see Tottenham play in the UEFA Champions League with a team more in tune with the manager’s vision.

If the Dane manages to secure a strong finish in the Premier League, the supporters will more likely back him for the following season. Therefore, Frank will need to play each game as if it were a final.

Description

Son Heung-min may not be in North London next season, Tottenham News has learned.

The South Korea international has made over 450 appearances for the Lilywhites, but may have played his last game for them.

Sources tell Tottenham News that Son has indeed held talks over a move to Fenerbahce this summer.

Son future at Spurs currently hangs in the balance

Tottenham News has also learned that Son now has a 50-50 chance of leaving in the coming weeks.

The 32-year-old previously worked with Jose Mourinho, so a move to Fenerbahce makes sense for him.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Portuguese managed to get the best out of Son in North London and a reunion remains on the cards, putting his future at Spurs in major jeopardy.

The former Bayer Leverkusen winger’s contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium runs out next summer,

A one-year extension was signed at the start of 2025, giving the North London outfit the option of cashing in on his services this summer.

Tottenham should look for a £30m+ fee for Son this summer

Tottenham should seize the opportunity to sell Son this summer if they can secure £30-35million.

At 32, his peak performance has waned, and with only one year left on his contract, his value will plummet if he leaves for free in 2026.

While still a talented forward, his declining pace and inconsistent output suggest he’s no longer indispensable.

A move to a less demanding league, like the Turkish first division, Bundesliga or Saudi Pro League, could see Son thrive for three to four more years, making him an attractive target for clubs willing to pay a premium.

Cashing in now allows Spurs to reinvest in younger talent to build a competitive squad for the future.
