Description

Tottenham star Randal Kolo Muani has been criticised after recent events in North London.

Kolo Muani has been linked with a Tottenham exit, with Juventus understood to be keen on the Paris Saint-Germain loanee.

The Frenchman scored the first goal in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, which secured Thomas Frank‘s side top-eight finish in the Champions League.

However, his showing against Borussia Dortmund in the previous match in that competition has come under the microscope.

Kolo Muani slammed after incident vs Dortmund as Tottenham exit rumours swirl

John Wenham believes that Spurs need to sort a replacement if they were to allow Kolo Muani to be recalled by his parent club and then move to Italy, but has slammed his attitude.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The former Frankfurt star played 30 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 20 January, but he did not have a good performance off the bench as his side won.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “We can’t just keep allowing players out, we do need a squad of players, so, only if someone else had come in would I sanction him returning, albeit he’s going to find himself on the bench for the second half of the season.

“I mean, when he’s come on in the cameos in the Premier League, he just doesn’t look bothered.

“There was an incident against Dortmund, where a ball was played forward that he could have very easily gotten onto, he sort of stopped and didn’t bother running for it, and Spence ran from behind him to keep it on the field of play.

“It was just embarrassing, for the fans, they’re just sort of saying, you need to put some effort in, you can’t just wander around with your hands on your hips, not contributing.”

Why Kolo Muani exit is best for both parties

Kolo Muani has not been able to score enough for the Lilywhites, and take the burden from Dominic Solanke in his absence.

The 27-year-old has looked uninterested a lot of the time, as Wenham spotted against the German side, and that is not the attitude that Spurs need.

They need somebody who will fight for the team, who will try with everything that he has to score and help his side, and that is not the Frenchman.

The situation he came into against Dortmund was perfect, his team were winning, and full of confidence, and he still could not be bothered.

Obviously, it likely depends on securing a replacement this late in the window, but it makes sense for all parties to cancel the loan.

Tottenham to sign midfield ‘machine’ now to avoid ‘massive auction’ in summer window

Tottenham can spare themselves summer misery by completing a speedy piece of winter business.

Thomas Frank continues to buy himself time in N17 after Tottenham secured victory against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.

The Dane isn’t out of the woods, with the sack still looming over Frank at Tottenham after a frustrating January to this point.

Tottenham have only signed Souza and Conor Gallagher so far, but will be hopeful of adding to them in the final days of the window.

The Lilywhites could now speed up their last-gasp movement and further reinforce their midfield rather than risk a transfer delay.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham to accelerate Leon Goretzka approach

Tottenham have been linked to Goretzka in the final days of the window and could now move for the Bayern Munich man.

The North London club do appear to be in need of new midfield options, even with Gallagher’s move from Atletico Madrid.

With Lucas Bergvall out injured for the foreseeable future, Frank could move to flesh out his squad with further quality before deadline day.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reported on Thursday that Spurs are set to challenge Atletico for the German’s signature and have made direct contact with the midfielder.

Frank and Co. are now pushing to complete a deal in January and are trying to convince Bayern Munich to let the 30-year-old depart now.

A winter deal for Goretzka is now seen as a “priority” with the hope of avoiding a “massive auction” at the Allianz Arena in the summer.

Sami Khedira loves Spurs target Goretzka

The former Schalke man has been around for a long time now, having made close to 300 appearances for Bayern since signing in 2018.

That sort of experience could prove to be massive alongside the likes of Joao Palhinha and Gallagher, while having the youth of Bergvall and Archie Gray waiting in the wings.

If Tottenham fans needed convincing of the German’s credentials, they only have to look towards ex-Real Madrid star Sami Khedira.

Discussing the Spurs target in August on SPORT1, the World Cup winner said: “Outstanding. It shows strength, maturity, but also incredible mentality and clarity of mind.“

These qualities could be exactly what the Lilywhites are missing right now, so making a deal happen as soon as possible is a wise move for Frank.

Stephen Warnock blown away by 'smart' Cristian Romero moment as Tottenham footage drops on MOTD - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Cristian Romero has once again been singled out for his performances at Tottenham.

Romero has been linked with a Tottenham exit in recent weeks and months, but that hasn’t stopped him from being a true star under Thomas Frank.

The Argentina international has scored plenty of important goals, with the centre-back netting as Tottenham could only draw with Burnley last time out in the Premier League.

He went on to have a decisive impact once again as Tottenham secured victory against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.

Romero caught the eye at Deutsche Bank Park, with Stephen Warnock picking out one true moment of quality from the skipper.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Cristian Romero stars with assist vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Romero is popular with his Tottenham teammates and for good reason.

The 27-year-old has really stepped up this season and proved exactly why he wears the armband at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That was once again on show against the Bundesliga outfit, with the defender chipping in with six defensive contributions while winning six duels.

He also managed to create three chances from centre-half, while maintaining a 96 per cent pass accuracy throughout the league phase clash.

That was only boosted when Romero grabbed an assist for Randal Kolo Muani’s opener as the Argentine’s header across goal found the forward for a tap-in.

Warnock spoke out about the goal on Match of the Day on Wednesday and gushed over the assist from the centre-back.

He said: “They were clinical, and that was the most important thing when you’re looking to score goals away from home. Kolo Muani does extremely well because what you need is your striker in the middle of the penalty area to get you goals.

“Credit to Romero, he is a threat from set pieces, and that back-post header is such a sensible, smart header. He’s put it into an area and hopes that’s where his striker is. It’s a scruffy finish, but it doesn’t matter.“

Why have Tottenham succeeded in the Champions League?

There has to be serious questions surrounding Spurs right now about why they have been so shocking in the Premier League, but excellent in Europe.

Frank is under real pressure of the sack in N17, but looking at the Champions League table, you would assume there is no problem at all.

Warnock believes he has uncovered the reason behind this rift between competitions, with Frankfurt representing a perfect example.

The ex-Liverpool man added: “They’ve done brilliantly [in the Champions League]. There will have been a feeling of, ‘We’ve been here before.’ In terms of being in Frankfurt and getting a result. So, there will have been plenty of confidence from that.

“It suits the English teams because all the teams want to have a go in the Champions League. In the Premier League, Spurs struggle to beat teams that sit back. Frankfurt, as bad as they are, still have a go and want to commit players forward.“

It is true that the Lilywhites have struggled against low-blocks this campaign, but they need to work around that rather than making an excuse of it.

‘I spoke with Ange Postecoglou, this is what he regrets about post-Tottenham move’

‘I spoke with Ange Postecoglou, this is what he regrets about post-Tottenham move’ - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Ange Postecoglou remains a well-loved figure among the Tottenham fanbase.

When Thomas Frank was appointed to replace Postecoglou last summer, the former Brentford boss was supposed to return Tottenham back to competing towards the top-end of the Premier League.

However, following Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Burnley last Saturday, Spurs are once again battling away at the wrong end of the table, as they currently occupy 14th place.

Unsurprisingly so, Frank is now facing the sack in N17, and with the Lilywhites’ next five games against Man City, Man United, Newcastle, Arsenal and Fulham, it’s hard to see where that next league win is coming from.

Ange Postecoglou opens up on post-Tottenham decisions

Postecoglou’s Tottenham reign was certainly a uniquely strange one.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After leading the team to a fifth-placed finish in 2023-24, his side plummeted to a disastrous 2024-25 campaign that saw them come 17th.

But, as bad as a season it was domestically, it was a year that saw silverware be brought back from the continent, with Postecoglou delivering Tottenham with a Europa League trophy.

For that reason, he does still have credit in the bank in North London, with some speculating Postecoglou could return to Tottenham if Frank does get sacked.

After being axed by Spurs in June 2025, Postecoglou quickly found himself back in a Premier League job, taking on the role of Nottingham Forest manager in early September of last year.

However, after just 39 days in charge at the City Ground, and with no wins from his eight games at the helm, he was ruthlessly sacked in October.

And, in a recent chat on The Go Radio Football Show, former Rangers defender Craig Moore revealed he’d caught up with Postecoglou, and he disclosed some fascinating insight on how he feels about his post-Spurs decision to join Nottingham Forest.

“I went to the Melbourne Derby in Australia, and I was in the box with both Ange Postecoglou and Kevin Muscat,” Moore said.

“That was good, we enjoyed the game and I had a good opportunity to speak with both of them. Ange was obviously talking about how much he loved his time at Celtic, but potentially (he) jumped in a little too soon with Nottingham Forest.

“All coaches have huge belief in themselves, but with hindsight he said ‘I should have taken a little bit more time’. But we know he is going to fall in OK.”

Hindsight always wins – Postecoglou shouldn’t blame himself for taking Forest job

Only 20 people can be Premier League managers at any one time, and so when an opportunity to become or indeed stay as one presents itself, it takes a brave soul to turn it down.

Nottingham Forest had just finished seventh in the Premier League in 2024-25, and so although they’d had a disappointing start to the season, this was still a fantastic job and opportunity for Postecoglou.

Forest have some exceptional players in their ranks, and it’s a historic football club with a huge fanbase to connect with, and so Postecoglou shouldn’t blame himself whatsoever for grasping that opportunity with both hands.

Hindsight always wins, but it’s only a matter of time before Postecoglou is back in a top job somewhere, and whenever he feels that he’s ready to get back in, of course.

Tottenham have reportedly entered the race to sign Leon Goretzka.

It looks set to be a busy final few days of the winter transfer window at Tottenham, with Thomas Frank eager to get one or two more signings through the door.

Tottenham are reportedly readying a move for Victor Munoz, with the 22-year-old Osasuna forward possessing a £34million release clause.

Meanwhile, Spurs are said to be interested in Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs, as Frank looks for a long-term Guglielmo Vicario replacement.

On the flip side, Randal Kolo Muani’s future at Tottenham is in major doubt, and he could leave N17 before the 2 February deadline.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham join Leon Goretzka race with decision ‘hours’ away

Another department that Frank may be looking to strengthen in before the deadline is midfield, despite the fact Conor Gallagher has signed for Spurs this month.

Injuries are ravaging Frank’s central midfield options, with Joao Palhinha, James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Rodridgo Bentancur all facing lengthy spells on the sidelines.

That leaves just Yves Bissouma, Archie Gray, Pape Sarr, Xavi Simons and Gallagher as the current available options, and as such, another new face may be required to shore that group up for the remainder of the season.

And, in a post by Marca reporter Matteo Moretto via X on Wednesday, it is reported that Tottenham have enquired over the possibility of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Goretzka in the last few hours.

Moretto states that Atletico Madrid are also interested in the 30-year-old, who is out of contract with Bayern this summer.

It is, however, reported that Bayern are still undecided on what to do with Goretzka, but that they will come to a decision “in the next few hours” over whether he can leave this winter.

Goretzka would be a superb signing for Tottenham

At this late stage of any winter window, players as decorated and with as much proven quality as Goretzka are seldom available for other clubs to sign.

The German international has represented his country 67 times, scoring 15 goals, having been awarded his first senior cap all the way back in 2014.

As for his time with Bayern, he’s only won the six Bundesliga titles, five German Super Cup’s, two DFB Pokal’s (league cup), one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and a Club World Cup.

With his contract expiring in the summer too, Tottenham could be primed to bag the experienced central midfielder at a bargain price, and he should still have a number of quality years left in his boots.

Description

Tottenham have had quite a good campaign in the Champions League this season.

While the Premier League results have left a lot to be desired, Spurs look set to feature in the knockout rounds of Europe’s premier competition.

With a win in Spurs’ clash versus Frankfurt, Thomas Frank could send the club into the round of 16. However, if they fail to get three points, they could slip into the play-off rounds.

There have been quite a few weather warnings in Germany, but at present Spurs’ game will not be affected.

Frank’s future at Tottenham is up in the air, but a good result against Frankfurt could buy him more time.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham’s Johan Lange pushing for Champions League rule change

Frank has had to make some big decisions when it comes to Tottenham in the Champions League.

Currently, clubs are able to name a 25-man squad in the European competition, dependent on teams having at least eight homegrown players.

Due to the rules, and with Spurs missing the homegrown quota, Frank was forced to leave Mathys Tel out and name a smaller squad.

However, an injury to Dominic Solanke meant Tel was given his chance in the Champions League.

With Solanke now back, Frank has been forced yet again to choose, and unfortunately for Tel, he has been omitted once more.

He only featured in one Champions League game for Tottenham against Slavia Prague, but Johan Lange is looking to fix this problem in the future.

Matt Hughes, writing for City AM, has revealed that Spurs sporting director Lange is trying to garner support from within the Premier League to push for a Champions League rule change that would increase the allowed squad size.

The situation with Tel, injury crises over the last few seasons, and concerns for player welfare have led to Lange to seek a change in regulations, with the report from Hughes suggesting Arsenal and Chelsea are open to the idea.

However, teams across Europe are concerned that a relaxation of the rules could result in English sides gaining an advantage due to their financial strength.

What would happen with Mathys Tel in the Champions League if Kolo Muani leaves?

Randal Kolo Muani has been linked with cutting his loan spell short in recent days, with Spurs only likely to sanction a sale if a replacement is found.

However, if Kolo Muani does leave the club, that would open space in the Champions League squad list for Tel to take up.

Although, that might not be as simple as a swap as you would think.

If Tottenham are to sign another forward, that player could want assurances over minutes in the Champions League. It is the premier competition in Europe, and every player dreams of playing in it.

However, if any potential attacking signing is homegrown or born on or after 1 January, 2004, that would leave Tel with every chance of being included.

Randal Kolo Muani is being let down by Tottenham.

The Frenchman was a well-received signing as Kolo Muani moved to Tottenham in a straight loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

Things haven’t worked out as Kolo Muani has struggled at Tottenham, with his only goals coming against his parent club in the Champions League.

Thomas Frank doesn’t seem to rate the forward after leaving him to be an unused substitute as Tottenham drew 2-2 with Burnley last time out.

That has prompted conversations about Kolo Muani leaving Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with promises seemingly not yet fulfilled.

Tottenham pushing Randall Kolo Muani away

Kolo Muani has been linked to Juventus this winter, with a return to the Serie A giants potentially on the cards before the end of the window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The striker’s move to Turin will all depend on Spurs and whether they want to allow a loan player to depart halfway through the season.

It seems as if the 27-year-old would push for an N17 exit, simply due to the lies that he was sold before moving to North London.

Former scout Bryan King has suggested regular minutes would have been on his agenda before joining the Lilywhites, something which he hasn’t been afforded this campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “The reason he came to Tottenham was to play games.

“The exact same thing was happening at PSG, he was always on the bench there.

“He moved to Juventus and then Tottenham under the premise that he was going to play every week. For whatever reason, he’s not.

“Something isn’t right there.

“He might push to leave, but it all depends on his loan agreement because it may be very difficult to move on, so he might have to stick it out until the end of the season.“

Kolo Muani could force deadline-busting Tottenham exit

The Lilywhites have recently welcomed Dominic Solanke back from injury, and he has gone straight into the lineup in North London.

That has only harmed Kolo Muani’s minutes, and the fact that he was left on the bench against Burnley sums everything up.

Going unused in a draw against a side destined for relegation won’t go down well with the Frenchman, so an exit is likely to be at the forefront of his mind.

That is especially the case if he’s been promised regular minutes, with a Juventus return probably growing in attractiveness as the window edges closer towards deadline day.

Tottenham could have no choice but to let Kolo Muani go this winter, leaving them with a hole in their squad and only themselves to blame.

Every single Tottenham game Pedro Porro will miss after Thomas Frank gives new injury update

Pedro Porro is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old right-back was substituted at half-time in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

The Spaniard has featured in every Premier League game this season and has provided two assists in the competition so far.

Thomas Frank is under pressure at Tottenham, and the last thing he needs is for one of his starters unavailable for a key run of games.

Pedro Porro out for four weeks with hamstring injury

Porro has been poor at times for Tottenham as they continue to underperform this season, and the away clash against Frankfurt on Wednesday will be the first of many matches that he will miss due to his injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Frank said in his pre-match Champions League press conference: “Porro hasn’t travelled as he’s picked up a hamstring injury. So he’ll be out for about four weeks.”

It’s a big blow for Tottenham, although Djed Spence is more than capable enough to replace him at right-back.

Regardless of his form, Porro provides a huge attacking threat down the right-hand side, and his creativity is hard to replace.

Porro has played more passes into the box (180) and delivered more open play crosses (113) than any other player in the Premier League this season.

According to FotMob, he has created 32 chances and completed 81 long balls, which is the most of any right-back in the top flight.

However, his pass accuracy of 74.3 per cent isn’t great, and Spurs may be able to keep the ball much more in his absence by keeping it simple.

Missing key matches against Arsenal, Man City, and Newcastle isn’t great, and he could be unavailable for even more games.

If Spurs fail to beat Frankfurt on Wednesday, then they’ll likely drop out of the top eight of the Champions League table and have to play in the knockout playoff round to qualify for the round of 16.

These two-legged ties take place on 17 or 18 February, and 24 or 25 February, and they would fall within the timeframe of the Spain international’s injury.

Micky van de Ven also unavailable for Frankfurt vs Tottenham

Porro isn’t the only player unavailable on Wednesday, and Micky van de Ven has not travelled with the squad.

Frank said: “He also hasn’t travelled, it’s a minor thing. He could possibly be available for the weekend.”

Van de Ven is Tottenham’s best player, and the centre-back has been crucial to Spurs’ season so far.

The 24-year-old found the back of the net against Burnley, and he has scored four league goals under Frank, the most of any centre-back in the top flight in 2025-26.

He has a pass accuracy of 89.5 per cent, and is a real asset to how Spurs like to build up possession from defence.

Reports emerged on 21 January that Van de Ven wants to leave Tottenham because they aren’t performing well this campaign.

He is one of the Premier League’s best defenders, and fans will be praying that he makes a return for Sunday’s huge clash with Man City.

As Spurs enter a crucial period in their season, the likes of Van de Ven and Porro are players that Frank would desperately want to be fully fit.

However, there won’t be any excuses if his side fails to win in Germany against Frankfurt.

Description

Randal Kolo Muani has been the subject of constant speculation over his Tottenham future.

Kolo Muani has struggled to get going at Tottenham after joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The French forward has scored just two goals in 23 appearances, but has failed to strike in the Premier League for Thomas Frank‘s side.

A report from The Athletic on 27 January claimed that Juventus want to bring Kolo Muani to Italy, but that would require Spurs to terminate his loan deal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What is the condition for Kolo Muani exit at Tottenham?

John Wenham believes that there is one condition that needs to be satisfied before Spurs would green-light a recall.

He thinks that they have to source a replacement before the 27-year-old is allowed to return to the Ligue 1 outfit, and then move on to another club.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Only if Tottenham have got a replacement lined up because Richarlison is injured.

“If Richarlison was fit, absolutely he’s welcome to go back, because apart from when we played PSG away, he has been incredibly underwhelming, his touch has been poor, he still hasn’t got a goal in the league for Tottenham.

“It has been a poor signing and I don’t see any basis on which they’re going to extend this loan after the summer, so, if he could secure a move somewhere else where he’s got, more game time, more opportunities, now that Solanke is back, he will find himself on the bench, Randal Kolo Muani, because Solanke is significantly better than him.

“He’s come back in the team straight away, Solanke, scored against Dortmund, immediately holding up the ball, playing passes, suited to the Premier League better, and he will find himself on the bench.”

Why has it not worked out for Kolo Muani at Tottenham?

Kolo Muani has not hit the heights expected when he signed for the Lilywhites, it is as simple as that.

In Solanke’s absence, they needed him to be scoring regularly, and he could not do what was necessary for the club.

He has not helped himself with a series of lethargic, downhearted displays in which he has barely looked interested.

As Wenham states, it looks like he will be set for even more setbacks as Solanke is back, and he will be left on the bench for most of the time.

Therefore, an exit makes sense for all parties if Spurs can sort a replacement, for their squad depth needs.

How to watch Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham: TV channel, live stream, kick-off time

Tottenham travel away to Eintracht Frankfurt knowing a win will confirm their place in the Champions League’s round of 16.

Pressure is mounting on Thomas Frank to turn things around in N17, with multiple candidates tipped to take over at Spurs if he is sacked.

While the Premier League campaign has been poor, the Dane has picked up quite a few decent results in Europe.

Defeat in Germany could see the Lilywhites slip into the play-off rounds, and that will be a circumstance they will utterly want to avoid.

Just last month, the supercomputer predicted an 11th-place finish for Spurs in the Champions League.

Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Burnley was not televised in the UK, but fans will not have to wait long now to see them in action.

Spurs travel to Germany to face Eintracht for their final league phase game of the current campaign.

Luckily for those who were unable to make the away trip, the game will be broadcast live.

Supporters in the UK will be able to watch the match on TNT Sports 5 on Wednesday evening, with coverage starting at 7:30pm for an 8pm kick-off.

Additionally, if you do not have access to a TV, TNT Sports subscribers can watch online via the Discovery+ app and website.

With it being the last Champions League matchday, all games kick off at the same time.

Tottenham’s record vs Frankfurt provides hope for Frank

Tottenham have played Frankfurt quite often throughout history, and Spurs fans will certainly have fond memories of travelling to the Deutsche Bank Arena last season.

A Dominic Solanke penalty was enough to send them through to the semi-final of the Europa League after drawing 1-1 in the first leg.

Spurs, under Ange Postecoglou, went on to win the trophy.

However, the Lilywhites did also face the Germans back in the 2022-2023 Champions League competition as well.

The Eagles once again failed to beat Tottenham over two group-stage matches, with the London club winning 3-2 at home and drawing 0-0 away.

In fact, you have to go all the way back to the 1981-1982 Cup Winners’ Cup to find a Frankfurt win vs Spurs.

Even in that case, the North London club still beat them on aggregate over two legs. Hopefully this can be a good omen for Spurs.
