Tottenham next manager odds: Sean Dyche and Roberto De Zerbi odds slashed after Igor Tudor sacked - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur look likely to appoint either Sean Dyche or Roberto De Zerbi after Igor Tudor was sacked.

The Englishman and the Italian are the joint favourites with the bookmakers to take over at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both managers’ odds have been slashed to 6/4 with one bookmaker to be handed the role after the Lilywhites relieved the Croatian of his duties after just one win in seven matches.

De Zerbi has decreased from 2/1, and Dyche was 8/1 just a few days ago, suggesting that they are more likely to get the job now.

Tottenham need to act quickly to get the new man in place, as they are right in the middle of a relegation battle.

Who are the other contenders for the role?

Tottenham may also have an eye on Mauricio Pochettino, but he is ranked at 10/1 for the vacancy, which suggests that he is a long shot.

Other candidates include Marco Silva at 7/2, Adi Hutter at 6/1 and former interim coach Ryan Mason at 12/1.

Ex-Spurs man Robbie Keane is rated as 14/1 shot, while Harry Redknapp is at 20/1 to make a stunning return to North London.

Why Tottenham can’t get it wrong with new manager

Tottenham cannot afford to get the next appointment wrong, it is as simple as that.

If they do, they will be a Championship club next season, as the new man will have just seven games to save their season.

The Lilywhites are just one point above the relegation zone, and they are in the worst form of any team in the Premier League.

They have lost five and drawn one of their last six league games, which ultimately saw Tudor given the boot.

The new boss needs to have a huge impact in a short amount of time, if they are to keep Spurs in the top-flight.

Therefore, Dyche and De Zerbi do seem like the best candidates as they both have shown that they can turn teams around quickly with the right buy-in from the players.

Whether that comes though, remains to be seen, as Tudor had a similar remit and failed to get the squad on board with his methods.

Tottenham Hotspur: Three reasons why it all went wrong for Igor Tudor - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with Igor Tudor.

The defeat against Nottingham Forest leaves Spurs 17th in the Premier League and one point adrift of the drop zone, and Tudor is still winless in the top flight.

It was a hugely damaging result, with boos ringing out around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at full-time as Spurs edge closer to Premier League relegation.

Reports emerged that the Croatian head coach will leave Tottenham by mutual consent and they’ve now come to fruition.

Therefore, with Tudor’s exit at Tottenham confirmed, Tottenham News brings you the three main reasons why his spell in charge went so badly.

Tudor never had the experience to manage Tottenham in a relegation battle

The Croatian manager has had spells at Marseille, Lazio, and Juventus in recent years, but he has never completed a calendar year in charge of either of the three teams.

It shows that he was a quick-fix appointment, and Tudor has completely failed at galvanising the dressing room.

Losses to Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Forest at home have been particularly damaging, with Tottenham still waiting for their first Premier League win in 2026.

He has not managed a single club for over a year since his first managerial job at Hadjuk Split between 2013 and 2015.

When he was appointed to replace Thomas Frank in February, the majority of the fanbase was left confused.

And unfortunately, they were proven right, and it was abundantly obvious that Spurs needed someone who knew the club down to the core.

Obviously, Sunday’s defeat is the nail in the coffin for Tudor, and with his departure officially announced, it isn’t a surprise.

Tudor’s tactical changes were completely baffling

One of the biggest criticisms that could be thrown at Tudor were his constant tactical changes every game.

In the space of seven games, Spurs played a 3-4-2-1, 4-4-2 and a 4-2-3-1 formation.

But what’s even worse is how players were playing out of their natural positions, with Pedro Porro playing at centre-back, Micky van de Ven playing at left-back, Xavi Simons deployed as a left midfielder and Conor Gallagher on the right.

And when those changes inevitably didn’t pay off, Tudor would scrap any plans and lineup with a completely different team and formation.

After Tottenham beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 last week using a 3-4-2-1 formation, he ignored the promising signs and went back to a 4-4-2 against Forest.

It’s a damning indictment of his reign in N17, and Spurs desperately need a manager who can keep tactics simple for the final seven games.

Tudor’s approach to press conferences didn’t help the team build confidence

The players should not be absolved of any blame, and their efforts during the season have been completely disgraceful.

However, after Tudor’s first game ended in a 4-1 loss to rivals Arsenal, he spoke in his post-match press conference about how broken the club was.

His pessimistic approach undoubtedly had its effect on the players, which was then seen in their subsequent performances.

In the last few games, he was more positive as the performances started to become encouraging.

However, Tudor’s ‘Iron Fist’ approach fell on deaf ears, alienated the players from day one, and it was only a matter of time before they would fall to another heavy defeat.

Tudor will go down as one of the worst managerial appointments in Tottenham’s history, and let’s just hope it doesn’t prove to be costly as it seems to be.

Chris Hughton backed to become new Tottenham manager as internal deadline mooted

Chris Hughton backed to become new Tottenham manager as internal deadline mooted - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Chris Hughton could be the man to take over at Tottenham Hotspur if Igor Tudor is sacked, John Wenham has said.

Hughton played 387 times for the Lilywhites between 1977 and 1990, and has since forged a career in management.

He was previously a coach at Spurs between June 1993 to October 2007, before going on to manage the likes of Newcastle and Brighton.

The idea of somebody who knows Tottenham inside and out has been raised by many observers, and Hughton would fit that category.

What was said about Chris Hughton and Tottenham?

Wenham has previously named Hughton as one for the Tottenham job, and he believes that he will be back in the running shortly, if the Croatian is dismissed from his post.

He claimed that there is a possibility on an internal deadline for a new appointment on Monday, which is 30 March.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “A name that I wouldn’t be surprised to see re-emerging again over the next couple of days as well, Chris Hughton.

“I think I mentioned him when talking about Tottenham needing to bring in somebody of a club identity.

“And I said sort of Harry Redknapp and Tim Sherwood, or Ryan Mason and Chris Hughton was the other one.

“Very strong affiliation to Tottenham, a proper Tottenham man, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see his name come up again with the fact that he’s out of work, obviously managed Brighton in the Premier League, and Tottenham just desperately need somebody in ahead of, it sounds like Monday’s the internal deadline they want somebody in by.”

Why Hughton appointment would be a risk for Tottenham

Appointing Hughton would certainly be a gamble for Spurs, as his last role in the Premier League was with Brighton.

He was sacked in May 2019 with the Seagulls sitting in 17th place, after picking up just three wins in the last 23 matches.

He has since managed Nottingham Forest when they were in the Championship and the Ghana national team, which is not the kind of experience that will have primed him for the job in N17.

There is no guarantee that Hughton could keep Spurs in the top-flight, just because he has a previous connection with the club.

Pape Matar Sarr: Brief Senegal cameo will provide welcome relief at Tottenham

Pape Matar Sarr: Brief Senegal cameo will provide welcome relief at Tottenham - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Pape Matar Sarr was only able to get minutes off the bench for Senegal against Peru, but Tottenham Hotspur officials will be delighted with that outcome.

With the relegation battle likely to continue heating up following the international break, the Lilywhites will be hoping their stars come back as fit as possible.

Alongside Leeds, Tottenham have the joint-most international call-ups among the relegation battlers.

With Spurs having plenty of injuries already this season, that figure only further places stress on their squad depth.

With that in mind, Sarr’s limited performance is a rare positive of this international break ahead of Tottenham’s fixture schedule.

How did Pape Matar Sarr perform after coming on for Senegal?

Tottenham will have breathed a sigh of relief to see that midfielder Sarr was not overloaded with minutes while away with Senegal.

Since February, the midfielder has been a key figure for Tottenham, starting six of their last eight Premier League matches.

While the Tottenham player would have been seeking to start for the Lions for the first time since the African football confederation, CAF, stripped them of the AFCON trophy, he did not get his chance.

Instead, Sarr featured for just 10 minutes against Peru but, when on the ball, did little wrong.

The Spurs midfielder completed 100 per cent of his nine passes attempted, keeping things simple and effective. Additionally, he made just 11 touches in his cameo as per Sofascore.

Sarr did end up getting dribbled past once in that time, while also losing the only duel that he competed in. However, officials at Hotspur Way will only care about the minutes played.

Spurs will hope for minimal Sarr impact in Senegal’s next match

Sarr could have his chance to start for Senegal this international break when his nation takes on Gambia on 31 March.

Hope will be that the midfielder comes out unscathed if manager Pape Thiaw opts to rotate. With these fixtures being friendlies, there is every chance that multiple changes will be made.

With injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison at Tottenham already hampering them this season, no more are needed.

As well as the boost of the return of Rodrigo Bentancur expected after the international break, picking up more injuries would be far from ideal in midfield right now.

Tottenham will certainly be hoping that Senegal do them another favour with Sarr playing as few minutes as possible once again.

Tottenham should be confident of Sunderland win as Spurs have 21 all-time Premier League victories - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur resume their Premier League relegation battle against Sunderland on Sunday, in a fixture where Spurs have won 21 of their 33 all-time top-flight meetings.

The Lilywhites are in desperate trouble, with no wins in their last 13 Premier League games.

Spurs haven’t tasted a league victory in the calendar year of 2026 yet, but if they’re going to avoid writing the biggest relegation story in Premier League history, that’s going to have to change ASAP.

However, with huge question marks over whether Igor Tudor will even be in the dugout after their season resumes after the international break, that’s going to be far easier said than done.

Tottenham travel to Sunderland on Sunday 12 April looking for any kind of result they can get, and whilst many Spurs fans would probably take a point, all three would taste oh so sweet.

What is Tottenham’s Premier League record vs Sunderland?

Tottenham and Sunderland drew 1-1 in this season’s reverse fixture in N17 back on 4 January, with a 30th-minute Ben Davies goal being cancelled out thanks to an 80th-minute equaliser from Brian Brobbey.

The alarm bells warning of impending relegation weren’t ringing anywhere near as loud in North London at that stage, but they’re deafening now.

Sunderland are going very well in their first season back in the Premier League, with Regis Le Bris’ boys currently occupying 11th position.

The Black Cats also come into the game fresh off the back of a memorable Tyne-Wear derby win at St James’ Park, beating Newcastle United 2-1.

As such, the Wearsiders will naturally be the favourites to beat Tottenham, but when turning the pages of the history books, they tell a very different story of who should be favoured for the victory.

Detailed by Transfermarkt, these two teams have clashed on 33 occasions in the Premier League, with Tottenham winning 21 times and drawing seven, with Sunderland only beating Spurs five times.

The Lilywhites have scored 59 times in the fixture, with Sunderland netting 31, and it’s both Robbie Keane and Christian Eriksen who share the top spot for the most goals scored by a player in this fixture, with both Spurs icons netting five each.

What is Sunderland’s home form like this season?

The Stadium of Light is one of the Premier League’s most atmospheric venues in 2025-26, with Sunderland fans sure knowing how to get behind their team.

This has been reflected in their home form this term too, with 26 of their 43 total points won on home soil, compared to 17 points picked up on the road.

Sunderland have won seven, drawn five and lost three at the Stadium of Light in 2025-26, with 22 goals scored and 14 conceded.

Evidently then, Tottenham are going to have their work cut out for them on Sunday, but the time of free hits is over: Spurs need points.

Tottenham will be worried about Dominic Solanke after England audition vs Uruguay

Tottenham will be worried about Dominic Solanke after England audition vs Uruguay - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur won’t have been impressed by Dominic Solanke’s audition for England.

Solanke started the Three Lions’ 1-1 friendly draw with Uruguay at Wembley Stadium on Friday night, but was not able to score before being replaced before the hour mark.

It has been eight-and-a-half years since he made his debut for his country, but, in truth, his international career has never taken off. Now, his World Cup hopes are hanging by a thread.

While he was the only England player to have a shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes, having silkily nutmegged an opponent, he could not grab the match by the scruff.

Tottenham will rely on Solanke in their relegation fight after the international break, but judging from this latest performance, the goals won’t exactly be flowing.

What did Dominic Solanke do vs Uruguay?

Not too much, was the criticism from many of the papers on Saturday morning.

While he received a respectable 7.1 rating from Sofascore after the final whistle, Solanke’s outing was a case of what could have been – an all-too-common issue for him at Spurs, too.

He registered two efforts on target, but neither troubled Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. The ace also completed just 12 of his 15 passes, for an 80 per cent success rate.

Taking 27 touches, Solanke was isolated as the No 9, shown by his frugal pass tally, and the fact that he surrendered possession eight times proved he was roughed up too easily.

Capping off a display that will simply shrug shoulders, the 28-year-old won two of his five ground duels and only one of three in the air (33 per cent).

That, in a nutshell, is simply not enough.

It was far from a miserable performance, but it did reflect too many of his issues at club level – specifically, an inability to muscle his way into matches and deliver the decisive blow.

Both Tottenham and England have been guilty of not supporting him enough with runners and bodies in tight spaces, but Solanke has to do more to become Harry Kane’s understudy.

Does Solanke have a future at Tottenham?

At £65m, he has been a decent buy, but Solanke remains an issue for Tottenham. A string of injury woes and inconsistent displays haven’t helped on that front.

His tally of just six goals this campaign is poor and will likely trigger Tottenham to dip back into the transfer market once they have decided their Premier League fate.

Whether that could lead to Solanke being placed on the chopping block remains to be seen, but he would do well to view Spurs’ final seven matches as an audition.

The ace will just hope that it goes better than his latest England bow.

Tottenham fans applaud Ben Davies as landmark 100th Wales cap recognised – ‘Legend’ - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans hailed Ben Davies after the defender was recognised by Wales for making 100 appearances for his country.

Davies reached the landmark figure in October when leading out Wales in their 4-2 defeat to Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium.

The 32-year-old is just the fourth player to reach a century of caps for Wales, along with Gareth Bale, Chris Gunter and Wayne Hennessey – two of whom are of course well known to Spurs fans.

Davies was presented with a ‘Golden Cap’ by Wales legend Cliff Jones ahead of Thursday’s World Cup qualifying playoff loss to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

While there is uncertainty over Davies’ future in N17 beyond this summer, there is no question that the long-serving defender still has the respect of every supporter for his longevity.

Ben Davies asked to ‘save’ Tottenham

Davies is currently out injured and was therefore unable to play any part in Wales’ bitterly disappointing home loss to Bosnia.

But it was still a special night for the Neath native as he was handed the special accolade on the pitch.

Tottenham shared images via their official social media platforms, to which the praise to Davies was universal from supporters.

One fan called for Spurs to ensure Davies stays on in a coaching role when he does eventually call time on his career.

Another simply said: “Save us Ben. We love you.”

What is likely to be next for Davies and Tottenham?

Davies is due to be out of contract at Tottenham this summer, which means he will become a free agent as things stand.

Should Tottenham manage to stay in the Premier League, it seems very likely Davies will move on at the end of the campaign.

If that is the case, as mentioned by a fan above, Spurs need to ensure they offer Davies the chance to return down the line to help out in some way.

However, Davies will only be 33 next month and he therefore does still have some years ahead of him – even if he does seem to have been around for a lifetime.

And if Spurs are plying their trade in the Championship – something that does not even bear thinking about – there is every chance Davies could have a part to play in the second tier.

For now, the former Swansea City ace will just focus on returning to action so that he can help his country and club – whoever that may be when he returns – as soon as possible.

Martin Ho labels Tottenham ‘sleeping giant’ after new contract announcement - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Martin Ho has labelled Tottenham Hotspur Women as a “sleeping giant” after committing his future to the club with a new deal.

The 35-year-old has made a strong early impression in North London, guiding the Lilywhites to fifth place in the Women’s Super League, while briefly challenging the traditional top four for large parts of the campaign.

The announcement of his new long-term deal came on Friday, with Spurs preparing to take on rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham have shown clear signs of progress this season, with a big improvement on last year’s 11th-place finish, alongside an upcoming FA Cup quarter-final clash with Chelsea.

Though back-to-back defeats since the return from the month-long pause have highlighted that there is still a way to go regarding matching the consistency of the division’s top sides – a gap Ho will look to make smaller moving forward.

Martin Ho reacts to new Tottenham Women contract

The former Manchester United Women assistant knows exactly what it means to work with one of the WSL’s top sides, and believes that there is a real long-term project underway at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Reacting to his new deal, he told Sky Sports: “Three or four weeks ago, Andy [Rogers] dropped me a message and said ‘can we catch up in the morning?’ and naturally, when the managing director sends you that, you’re thinking ‘what’s going on here?'”

“But he’d had meetings with the leadership team and the board and they were really pleased with what we’re doing and the direction we’re going in.

“They wanted to make sure I’m here for the longer term to work on this project and take it forward. They felt I was the person that could help them achieve what they want to achieve, which is nice to hear as a coach.”

Joining the club from Norwegian outfit Brann, Ho has overseen a huge uptick in form since taking over at Spurs, with the club battling at the top end of the division – though the gap does remain to the top sides.

“I feel we actually have a lot going for us here and we’re maybe a bit of a sleeping giant in women’s football,” said Ho. “It just needs that little bit of direction and polishing and we can really take big steps.

“That’s a credit to everyone that’s been before me that has enabled this club to be where it is, and I have a lot of respect for them.

“I’m really thankful to the ownership, the leadership that believe in me and have given me this opportunity. I want to make sure I can repay that faith by giving them some silverware.”

Heading into the season’s final stretch, Ho’s side take on Arsenal in the North London derby on Saturday evening, before they prepare for a big FA Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.

Consistency key as Tottenham look to close gap on WSL elute

Sitting in a gap between the top four and the chasing pack, Spurs’ current standing in the WSL reflects both their progress as a side, and the gap to the league’s elite that remains in place.

In spells this term, they have proven capable of competing with the top four, but maintaining the level of consistency over the course of a full term has proven much more challenging.

Though the nine-point gap to Everton behind deserves its praise, especially given the improvement from last season.

Sitting as the current best of the rest, Tottenham are well-placed to continue progressing heading into next term, where finding more consistency will prove crucial if Ho is to continue the project of chasing the league’s elite.

The Lilywhites sit fifth in the standings and have handed manager Martin Ho a new deal after a fantastic campaign at the helm, following an 11th-place finish last term.

A gap does remain between the league’s elite and Tottenham, who find themselves well clear of the chasing pack. But they have proven capable of challenging the top sides on their day.

How to watch Arsenal Women vs Tottenham Women

Saturday’s WSL clash between the Gunners and Spurs will be available to watch live on TV, alongside streaming options.

With Sky Sports carrying the rights for the league, it is more of the same in terms of the coverage fans can expect to find upon viewing.

Alongside the live TV coverage, the derby will also be available to stream via the Sky Sports App and Sky Go, with viewers able to catch the action through both platforms.

Following proceedings, highlights will be available across Sky’s social media channels – including YouTube – while the WSL and the respective clubs will also provide highlights.

Tottenham looking to bridge gap to WSL elite

Sitting in no man’s land between the top four and the chasing pack, the current positioning of Ho’s side is largely positive given their immense progress, though the sizeable gap to the title chasers does remain.

Spurs have proven capable of challenging at the top end of the league this term, with European football even mooted at times this term – though the overall consistency of the league’s elite is something that the Lilywhites are yet to add to their game.

With Ho’s new deal in mind, alongside a new Tottenham deal for Matilda Vinberg, the longer-term project is underway at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the club are aiming to reach the levels set by Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Spurs are preparing to face two of those side’s successively, with Saturday’s North London derby followed up with a big FA Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.

Ho’s side have proven capable of fighting against them on their day, and will look to cause a big upset in the next week as they aim to bridge the gap to the top moving forward.

James Maddison shares encouraging Tottenham injury update, he looks like he's never been gone - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

James Maddison has provided another update on his recovery from a long-term injury layoff at Tottenham Hotspur.

The England international has not played for Spurs at all this season due to a knee injury sustained during pre-season.

Maddison’s last competitive game for Tottenham came back last May in a Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt.

He is in a battle to be fit in time to feature before the end of the campaign, with Igor Tudor recently confirming that is still a possibility.

Maddison’s injury layoff has been a massive blow for Spurs, but the playmaker is looking in great shape judging by his latest social media post.

James Maddison could yet play a part for Tottenham this season

There are plenty of factors behind what has been a truly dire campaign for Tottenham, with relegation from the Premier League still a strong possibility.

Losing key players for large amounts of time is just one of them, with Dejan Kulusevski another who has not kicked a ball for Spurs this term.

However, Kulusevski and Maddison appear to be on similar trajectories in terms of their respective recoveries.

In a video posted via his personal Instagram account on Friday, Maddison could be seen ramping up his comeback.

The clip was captioned: “Session six months post ACL surgery. Working hard to be back.”

And encouragingly, Maddison could be seen going through the motions both in the gym and on the training ground.

He is now able to join in with various team drills and could be seen taking shots at goal.

Maddison looked as though he had never been away, but it is not clear exactly how long he has left of his recovery.

The stats that show just what Tottenham have been missing in Maddison

Maddison would have been a regular starter this season had he been fit.

The 29-year-old was Tottenham’s highest-rated player on Sofascore last season with 7.30, narrowly ahead of Son Heung-min (7.27) and Pedro Porro (7.19).

Maddison scored nine Premier League goals from an expected goals (xG) value of 5.83, which shows he was very clinical in terms of the chances he was converting.

He also registered seven assists and laid on 1.3 key passes per game for his teammates, which Dominic Solanke, Richarlison & Co. are clearly missing dearly.

Maddison’s 23 per cent goal conversion last season compares to 20 per cent for Richarlison and 21 per cent for Solanke this season.

As a reminder, Maddison is not a striker but a creative midfielder.

If Tudor, or whoever is in charge, can get just a couple of games out of Maddison, that could make all the difference.

And on the basis of his latest injury update, that may not be far off at all.
