Tottenham ‘can seal cut-price Mbeumo deal’ after Man Utd development – Exclusive

Daniel Levy will be rubbing his hands in glee at the latest claim concerning Tottenham target Bryan Mbeumo’s future at Brentford.
Tottenham have been linked with a move with Mbeumo this summer as the Lilywhites look to improve their attacking options in time for the new season.
It had been suggested that appointing Thomas Frank as head coach would help to accelerate the transfer, although the right-winger remains intent on joining Manchester United.
However, despite Mbeumo’s preference, Tottenham could now be back in the race for his signature.
Manchester United are interested in Ollie Watkins
As reported by The Mirror (5 July), Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

This comes as Ruben Amorim’s side are still struggling to agree a deal with Brentford for Mbeumo.
Not only could this help Spurs to land Mbeumo this summer, but Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Brentford will eventually be forced to lower their asking price if United exit the race.
“Manchester United are now looking at Watkins,” Wenham said.
“They’re unlikely to sign Watkins and Mbeumo, and there’s also an interesting subplot here. If you remember when Tottenham tried to sign David Raya, Brentford wanted £40million.
“As the window went on, nobody was paying the £40m and they ended up loaning him to Arsenal and he then joined permanently for much less than £40m. I could see that happening with Mbeumo where he becomes available at the end of the window for less.
“Brentford might realise nobody is going to pay the asking price. They want a fee which eclipses what United paid for Matheus Cunha, who I believe is a better player.”
Tottenham should disregard Mbeumo for now
Mbeumo does not have Tottenham as a priority at the moment, and Levy should be looking to bring in players who want to play for the badge.
Spurs are looking to sign Mohammed Kudus and should remain focused on that deal.
Unlike Mbeumo, Kudus can play across the frontline and in the midfield, which would increase Spurs’ squad depth. With the UEFA Champions League on the agenda next season, Kudus could be the most important signing Tottenham make this summer.
