Tottenham are back on track after their win against Everton.

Thomas Frank shook things up against the Toffees as Kevin Danso excelled in Cristian Romero’s absence.

Tottenham hadn’t had the best return from the international break after failing to win against Aston Villa and Monaco, but they’ve put things right by handing Everton their first loss at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Of course, Micky van de Ven has grabbed the headlines for Tottenham, after the Dutch defender bagged a first-half brace, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

However, Frank and Tottenham fans really should be thanking one man in particular who is holding everything together for the Lilywhites at the minute.

Joao Palhinha is the glue that held Tottenham together vs Everton

Being away from home against Everton, Tottenham always faced a difficult task of the roaring Blues fans that were always going to get behind the Toffees.

As expected, Everton created lots of chances in the game, and some may argue that Tottenham were unlucky not to concede after VAR controversy in the first-half.

However, despite set-pieces being key for Tottenham, without Joao Palhinha, the Lilywhites would not have brought the three points back to North London.

There haven’t been many players that have been consistently selected by Frank in all competitions for Spurs so far this season, but Palhinha has, and it’s clear to see why.

Against Everton, Palhinha completed 75 per cent of his attempted tackles and was crucial in breaking up the play, and getting Tottenham on the front foot.

Palhinha now averages 4.3 tackles per game in the Premier League with Tottenham, and yet again proved just how important he is to Frank’s side against Everton.

Not many people would have thought Palhinha would have been as instrumental as he has been so far for Tottenham, but his form comes at the expense of another midfield star.

Palhinha’s form causes worry for Pape Sarr

Tottenham have been linked with Morten Hjulmand, a defensive midfielder who plays in Portugal with Sporting CP, a side Palhinha once played for.

Pape Sarr has struggled for game time this season, as he came off the bench against Everton, making an impact, scoring the third and final goal for Spurs on Sunday night.

The Senegalese didn’t express much happiness when he bagged his second goal of the Premier League season, and it may only be an indication of his current situation with Frank.

Unfortunately for him, Palhinha’s form is too consistent for the Portuguese man to be dropped, as Rodrigo Bentancur also seems preferred over Sarr.

Tottenham alarm bells ringing as Luka Vuskovic hints at potential transfer exit amid latest comments - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Luka Vuskovic is continuing to make a name for himself during his latest loan spell away from Tottenham.

The youngster is spending the season in the Bundesliga with newly-promoted outfit Hamburg, where he has already made a huge impression during the early stages of the season.

Tottenham have the option to recall Vuskovic in January if they suffer severe injury concerns at the heart of their defence, but the current suggestion is that he will be allowed to see out the duration of the season in Germany.

Thomas Frank and Co. will have been playing close attention to his progress in recent weeks, and they may have just been put on red alert by comments that he has just made.

Tottenham to be concerned by Luka Vuskovic’s Real Madrid claim

Tottenham will be delighted with how Vuskovic is progressing during his latest loan spell, and if he sustains his promising start to the season, then it is surely likely that he will play a part in the first-team squad in N17 next term.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The centre-back has already been part of two clean sheets for his loan club, and made history by scoring their first Bundesliga goal in 2688 days in their win over Heidenheim back in September.

The Lilywhites appear to have a future superstar on their hands with the Croatian, but they will now have serious concerns that he could be ready to jump ship in the future, after what he has just said away from North London.

Vuskovic was recently interviewed by the Croatian outlet Sport Klub, and revealed that he has always had a desire to one day play for Real Madrid, when asked if there was a club that he’s always wanted to play for.

“Well, Real Madrid is Real Madrid, but every club you play for is an honour and a privilege,” the defender said.

While the prospect of him leaving for such a challenge won’t be a concern for Tottenham at this moment in time, Vuskovic’s claim will have set the alarm bells ringing for them somewhat, as the indication is that he would be ready to step away if the prospect of a move to the Spanish capital ever arose.

He is a long way from that being a reality, but if he continues to develop on his current trajectory, then it may not be out of the question in the future.

Spurs have to integrate Luka Vuskovic into their plans next season

Several people connected to Tottenham wanted to see Vuskovic be a part of the first-team squad this season, after he turned out some impressive displays during the summer’s preparations.

While the possibility of exposure to the Premier League may have come too soon for the starlet this time around, he will surely be in line to start turning out for his parent club next term.

The Bundesliga is a challenging level of football, particularly for defenders, and at the moment, he is passing that test with flying colours.

Vuskovic has stepped up in level with each of his loan moves in the last few seasons, and the next logical step is surely for him to bridge that final gap to earn regular first-team minutes in North London.

Lewis family set for another blow as high-profile Tottenham exit to be finalised within weeks, insiders react - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

The Lewis family have been spearheading change at Tottenham since the summer.

Joe Lewis has been keen to invest in Spurs’ sporting success after Tottenham lifted the UEFA Europa League last season.

The first step was having a strong summer window, which saw the likes of Mohammed Kudus arrive at Tottenham.

The next was the £100million investment into Spurs, which fans will want to be used on future transfers.

All in all, the future looks bright for the Lilywhites, even if the Lewis family experiences a few bumps along the way after Daniel Levy’s exit.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Rebecca Caplehorn to leave Tottenham next year

Highly regarded executive Rebecca Caplehorn is set to leave Tottenham in the new year, insiders via the print version of The Daily Mail (page 57, 27 October) understand.

She is Spurs’ current director of football administration and has been a key behind-the-scenes figure for the club since arriving in 2015.

The outlet reports that: “There are likely to be a number of suitors for Caplehorn, in a development those within the industry will view as a blow for the club.”

Indeed, Caplehorn started her Tottenham career as head of football operations after being headhunted by chairman Levy, according to the Daily Mail Sport in December 2014.

Levy was dismissed as Tottenham chairman in September after almost 25 years in North London. Despite this, the former chairman still owns his share of Spurs owners, ENIC.

Having been the man to bring Caplehorn to Hotspur Way, there will, of course, be speculation around whether her departure is linked to his. Either way, the news will come as a blow for the Lewis family, who are pushing to improve Tottenham on the field and financially.

What is the way forward for Tottenham?

From ambitions to host the Super Bowl to sitting third in the Premier League table, it is clear Spurs are entering a successful period.

While Caplehorn will be missed in North London, the future looks bright if Tottenham can continue to deliver on the sporting stage and beyond.

For now, the focus must be on the club’s sporting results. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is arguably the best venue in the league, but a high-performing football team could help revenue reach new heights.

Therefore, Spurs’ sporting success should be the Lewis family’s priority moving forward, with a clear financial shake-up behind the scenes on the cards in the coming months.

Richarlison returns in four Thomas Frank changes – Tottenham predicted XI vs Newcastle - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Thomas Frank will be desperate for victory when Tottenham travel to St. James’ Park on Wednesday.

Tottenham triumphed in a 3-0 win over Everton on 26 October thanks to a brace from Micky van de Ven, taking them to third in the Premier League.

However, rest will be hard to come by, given that the Lilywhites will face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup fourth round on 29 October.

Luca Williams-Barnett made his debut for Spurs in their previous Carabao Cup win, but this will not be the kind of game to give rising stars another chance.

Richarlison starts as Xavi Simons is demoted

Randal Kolo Muani started for Tottenham against Everton, and while he showed promising signs, he failed to net his first goal for the Lilywhites.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The French international did not take a single shot against the Toffees, according to Sofascore.

In fact, most of his positive actions were defensive. Indeed, Kolo Muani won 100 per cent of his tackles, made four recoveries and one clearance.

These stats are reflective of his own and Spurs’ performance, and it is clear his teammates need to work harder to bring him into the game.

Nevertheless, Richarlison assisted and missed a big chance worth 0.36 expected goals once he was subbed on. Making such an impact in 28 minutes played speaks volumes, and he’ll likely start for Frank with Wilson Odobert beside him.

Meanwhile, Xavi Simons had another anonymous game for Spurs, which could see him replaced by Pape Matar Sarr.

It has been suggested that injuries are the reason Sarr has failed to start for Frank as of late. That reasoning seems to have placated fans for now, but there will be further questions if he is benched against Newcastle.

Lucas Bergvall is expected to join him in the midfield, replacing Rodrigo Bentancur, who could do with some rest after his impressive display against the Toffees.

Guglielmo Vicario should retain his starting spot, and Spurs’ backline is set to remain unchanged.

Tottenham’s away record will give fans hope

St. James’ Park is never a nice destination to travel to, but Spurs’ away form has been stellar this season.

The Lilywhites are unbeaten away from home in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, having only been defeated once by PSG in the UEFA Super Cup on penalties.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have lost three times at home this season and Tottenham will no doubt be looking to make it four on Wednesday.

‘Two Tottenham stars will battle it out to impress Thomas Frank after unfortunate latest’

Tottenham fans can expect to see several more combinations on the pitch before the season ends.

Thomas Frank has always been known as a manager unafraid to test new tactics and formations on the pitch, with his changes creating a positive start this season.

This was made clear during Spurs’ defeat to PSG on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup final, where he fielded a 5-3-2 formation.

More recently, he has stuck with a traditional 4-3-3 line-up as players continue to put their best foot forward for their new manager.

Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert to battle it out at Tottenham

Both Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert are two of their brightest young stars at Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

After a slow start to the season, Odobert has started on the left wing as of late.

Meanwhile, Tel bounced back after he was excluded from Frank’s UEFA Champions League squad and is a regular face in Spurs’ starting lineup.

It has been suggested that the striker would perform better on the left wing, and speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes this could become his best position.

“I certainly don’t see him as an out-and-out striker. So I think off the left will become his best position,” Wenham said.

“But at the minute, he’s seemingly battling for the opportunity to impress with Odobert for those minutes in the team. But unfortunately, for me, against Aston Villa, he didn’t do enough to say that he should be the one starting.

“I’m sure other opportunities will come and he just has to take them when they do arrive, because no one else is dominating, putting their hand up and saying, I must start the game.”

If neither Tel nor Odobert establishes themselves, Tottenham could upgrade the position in January.

Who should start on the left for Tottenham?

While deploying Tel on the left wing could improve his confidence, Frank needs to give Odobert more time to nail down the position.

Tel has a keen eye for goal, but Odobert is a relentless creative threat down the left side, not to mention that he is a natural left winger.

Consistency is key, and in this case, Odobert needs the necessary minutes to establish himself as Spurs’ starting left winger.

Cristian Romero will be sweating after staggering nine-year Tottenham record Kevin Danso claimed vs Everton

Kevin Danso has stepped up in a huge way since replacing the injured Cristian Romero for Tottenham.

The defender was a standout once again as Tottenham beat Everton 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday.

It was Danso‘s defensive partner, Micky van de Ven, who stole the headlines, however, after netting two headers in the first half.

Van de Ven was compared to Arsenal defender Gabriel after the game, with the Netherlands international rising highest to head home from two corners.

Rodrigo Bentancur attracted praise for his performance against Everton, too, with the midfielder claiming the assist for the first goal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Kevin Danso dominates vs Everton

Romero has missed Tottenham’s last two matches with an adductor strain, but the defender should return imminently.

In his place, however, Danso has been superb. Against Everton, the Austria international put in a stunning performance to secure the clean sheet.

While Van de Ven took the headlines for his goals, the 27-year-old mopped up everything left behind by the Dutchman, completing 89 per cent of his passes and winning 100 per cent of his duels.

But it was his dominance in the box that really stood out. As the game drew on, Everton resorted to lumping balls forward in an attempt to find Beto, and later, Thierno Barry.

There was nothing that could trouble Danso, however.

The defender made a staggering 18 clearances on the night, the joint-most in a Premier League game this season, and, according to Squawka, the most by a Tottenham player since 2016.

Does Cristian Romero get back in for Tottenham?

In his current state, it is difficult to see Danso being pushed out of the Tottenham team when Romero is back fit.

Of course, the Argentina international brings much more than just defensive excellence, and certainly boasts strengths that the Austrian cannot match.

Romero completes 0.14 successful dribbles per game, whereas Danso is yet to complete one, and the 27-year-old offers more danger in the opposition box, too, registering 0.10 expected goals with his replacement yet to take a shot.

But there is a defensive hunger about Danso that Thomas Frank will surely be in love with. The defender is quickly forming a solid partnership with Van de Ven, too.

It will be something to think about for Frank when Romero is back, but ultimately, it is a good problem to have. The Dane could even decide to play all three, with the back-three an option, while Van de Ven could be shifted out wide in another alternative solution.

One thing is clear, though, Spurs are quickly becoming a defensive force under Frank, and that should be cause for excitement.

Everything Theo Walcott said about ‘fantastic’ Micky van de Ven scenes vs Everton on MOTD

Micky van de Ven continues to go from strength to strength at Tottenham this season.

Van de Ven has been linked with an exit from Spurs in recent weeks, despite being named in Thomas Frank’s new Tottenham leadership team.

However, if his recent performances are anything to go by, the centre-back is here to stay.

His passion on the pitch is unrivalled, and it is clear to fans that his commitment shows no bounds.

Theo Walcott impressed with Micky van de Ven goals vs Everton

Van de Ven netted a brace for Tottenham in their 3-0 win over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 26 October.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Theo Walcott was particularly fond of his first goal. While he pointed out Rodrigo Bentancur’s role in Spurs’ opening strike, he admitted the rest was all Van de Ven.

Speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day after the game, he said: “What’s really fascinating to see is Bentancur. It’s all about delivery, but van de Ven puts himself in a position behind, and it’s pure strength and desire to win it.

“You can see here that he’s isolating himself from Jack Grealish, and his mindset is just to disrupt the goalkeeper without doing too much.

“I think that’s important, not to do too much to make it obvious. It’s a good goal, it’s a fantastic finish.”

His double means that Van de Ven has surpassed his all-time Tottenham goalscoring tally with his goals scored this season alone.

Previously, the defender had netted three between 2023 and 2025. In the 2025/26 season, he has scored five in all competitions.

How did van de Ven perform against Everton?

Fans went crazy over van de Ven’s attacking performance, which is understandable, but he was also solid defensively.

He won 50 per cent of his ground duels and made three interceptions against the Toffees, according to Sofascore.

Now, of course, his goals are most unconventional for a centre-back, never mind one who had only netted three for Spurs before this season.

In fact, Van de Ven netted two goals from 1.07 expected goals, which is a massive overperformance.

Not only was he clinical, but the Dutch international was getting himself into good goalscoring positions, which is reflected in his 1.96 expected goals on target.

As a result, Van de Ven’s performance against Everton was a complete one and a good indicator for Tottenham fans about what’s still to come.

‘It is so cruel that this has happened to George Abbott in scenes away from Tottenham’

George Abbott was one of several Tottenham players who were loaned out over the summer.

Most of the Lilywhites’ loan players have had a strong start to the season.

There have been Tottenham demands to recall Tyrese Hall following his stellar performances for Oxford.

Meanwhile, Spurs may refrain from calling back Mikey Moore from Rangers now that Danny Rohl has taken over at Ibrox.

Abbott is considered one of Spurs’ best talents, but has struggled to perform consistently these past couple of seasons.

MORE SPURS STORIES

George Abbott could be out for up to four months

Wycombe Wanderers confirmed that Tottenham defender Abbott could be out for up to four months after sustaining a quad injury while on loan at the League One side.

Abbott impressed at Notts County last season and has been solid for Wycombe since, making 14 appearances so far.

As a result, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes this is a “cruel” fate for a player who was doing so well while on loan.

“It’s absolutely killer for him because really nice boy, he comes from a great family,” Wenham said.

“Done so well last year on loan, loved at Notts, now has gone up a division, and he’s playing regularly for Wycombe in League One and looking absolutely fine at that level.

“So for him to have suffered a blow like that is so cruel for someone who’s making really good progress. Gutted for Abbott and just wish him to speedy recovery and hope he comes back as soon as possible, but he’s an outstanding young player.”

How many games could George Abbott miss this season?

Fans have been tuning in to watch Abbott weekly, so there is no doubt most will be keen to learn how long he’ll be sidelined.

If he is out for a maximum of four months, Abbott should return to the pitch in March at the earliest.

This means that he could return in time for Wycombe’s League One clash against Bolton on 7 March, having missed around 24 games.

While a huge setback for the rising star, he has enough talent to turn his season around upon his return.

Tottenham ‘leading the way’ for Morten Hjulmand as Sporting set for January ‘headaches’ - tottenhamhotspurnews.com
Description

Tottenham could be about to add Morten Hjulmand to their squad in the January transfer window.

The Lilywhites have made a mixed start to the new Premier League season, and are expected to continue to overhaul their squad upon the opening of the winter window.

Hjulmand was heavily linked with Tottenham over the summer, and it is clear that their interest hasn’t faded at all during the early stages of the new campaign.

Thomas Frank is beginning to stamp his imprint on the squad in N17, and he may be about to welcome a fellow countryman into his group if he gets his way this winter.

Sporting expect a bid for Morten Hjulmand amid £69.7m valuation

Tottenham were thought to be preparing a bid for Hjulmand in the summer, although they ultimately never made a concrete offer to Sporting CP for their star.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Joao Palhinha has earned plenty of plaudits for his displays at the heart of the midfield so far this term, but that doesn’t look like it will prevent the Lilywhites from targeting another addition in the middle of the park.

Their interest in Hjulmand still remains, and they are understood to be “leading the way” for the Denmark international at the moment, alongside Manchester United, according to Portuguese outlet Record.

Sporting are aware of the interest in the 26-year-old and are expecting to face an offer for him this time around.

They are expecting “headaches” regarding the future of their star man, but they are also keen to ensure that the £69.7million release clause in Hjulmand’s contract is adhered to if a sale is to take place.

Tottenham need to focus on Joao Palhinha signing instead

Palhinha has been a key figure for Tottenham so far this season, and it already looks like a masterstroke for them to have secured his services on a season-long loan deal.

The North Londoners have the option to trigger the Portuguese’s permanent arrival for a fee of around £27m, and it already fails like a no-brainer for them to take up that option.

The 30-year-old has held such an influence over their play this season that he could easily be their best addition this winter, regardless of who else they sign.

Triggering the clause in the deal for Palhinha has to be the top priority for Spurs, and if that means that they don’t add another option to their midfield, then that would surely still be satisfactory for Frank.

Hjulmand is certainly an interesting target for the N17 outfit, but everybody connected to the club would surely rather see Palhinha extend his stay.

Tottenham got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday.

Thomas Frank made necessary changes for his Lilywhites side, as Tottenham ran out 3-0 victors away to Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The win saw Everton lose their first game at their new home, as Micky van de Ven scored a brace and kept a clean sheet in what was a magnificent individual performance.

Pape Sarr came off the bench to have an effect once again for Spurs, but Frank may have found his perfect starting 11, heading into a Carabao Cup tie with Newcastle on Wednesday.

Despite the massive win, Van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario were caught in a moment that may raise Tottenham fans’ eyebrows.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario caught arguing

Van de Ven has been seen driving Vicario to training in the past, as off-field content suggests the pair are good mates.

There’s no doubt they’re close off the field, but once they step on the pitch, it’s all business for the star duo under Frank.

Vicario kept a clean sheet against Everton, as did Van de Ven, who walked away from the game, now Tottenham’s leading goalscorer for the season, but both still had something to say to one another.

Both were seen arguing at full-time, while the rest of their Tottenham teammates were full of smiles and celebrating, always demanding more.

This will certainly raise eyebrows, but it’s something that Tottenham fans will be happy to see, as, despite the result, both clearly were not fully satisfied with their performances.

Europa League success may have changed Tottenham mentality

Tottenham broke their ‘Spursy’ tag last season when they won the Europa League, as both Van de Ven and Vicario were at the heart of breaking the trophy curse.

With players like Mohammed Kudus shining for the Spurs and Xavi Simons still settling in, Vicario and Van de Ven will have a huge influence on the dressing room in big games.

Everton were no easy pushover, as the Toffees fans always make their home patch a difficult place to go, but Tottenham went back to North London with the three points fairly easily.

There have been questions over Tottenham’s mentality recently, but Frank needs to harness the momentum from last season’s Europa League success, as anything seems possible this campaign.
