Private investor shares revealed at Tottenham as takeover code emerges after Lewis family latest

Tottenham continue to navigate the post-Daniel Levy era amid growing takeover speculation in recent weeks.

It came as a surprise to many when Levy resigned from Tottenham, especially after he made big calls in sacking Ange Postecoglou and replacing him with Thomas Frank.

Since Levy’s departure, the Joe Lewis family have been controlling Tottenham behind the scenes, as plans for the January transfer window have started to formalise.

The Lewis family and ENIC were thought to be gearing up for a sale of Tottenham, but emerging reports have called that into question.

Tottenham ‘not for sale’ with shares still held by private investors

American multi-millionaire Brooklyn Earick has been interested in buying Tottenham, but his efforts have taken a backseat.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to Kaveh Solhekol for Sky Sports, the Lewis family are committed to helping Tottenham achieve long-term success.

It’s also been revealed that some Tottenham shares are still held by private investors, meaning anybody who wishes to buy the club must follow the rules of the Takeover Code.

The code requires serious buyers to publicly state their intentions about buying Tottenham, as all potential buyers have now confirmed that they will not be placing bids at this time.

With the Lewis family almost guaranteed to be running Tottenham for at least the next six months, they now have the biggest responsibility to help them to success this year.

Lewis family need to back Thomas Frank in the January transfer market

It’s all well and good for the Lewis family to state their intention to help Tottenham achieve success, but that will be determined in the January transfer window.

Tottenham have made a great start with Frank this season, as the North London club sits third in the Premier League heading into the second international break.

Although his Spurs side looks strong, if they are to achieve anything this season, Frank will need that extra bit of quality to push his team over the line.

January presents itself as a massive opportunity for the Lewis family to show their commitment to Tottenham and their fans, after Levy‘s shock exit.

Tottenham are set to make several big decisions over the winter transfer window.

The Lilywhites had one of the best summer windows in recent history, with the Joe Lewis family focusing on Spurs’ sporting success.

Tottenham signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig during the final days of the window.

The North London club also saw several exits, including Son Heung-min, who left Tottenham for LAFC after almost a decade at the club. However, Spurs could soon be looking to wave farewell to another player.

Kota Takai could be loaned in January

Tottenham signed Kota Takai from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale for just £5million over the summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Spurs fans are yet to see the young defender take to the pitch after sustaining an injury during pre-season. Luckily for fans, Takai has returned to Tottenham training.

But given the defensive depth of Spurs’ squad, Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes a January loan could be best for all involved.

“He’s had this injury and we’re already in October, I genuinely think I’m more realistic plan for him is that he builds up his fitness from now till January and then goes on loan,” Wenham said.

“He goes on loan and then we just see what we’re working with again, next pre-season, next summer. So you’ve got to remember the whole time Radu Dragusin is coming back as well, and he’ll rightly be in front of Takai for game time.”

With limited experience in England, the defender needs game time to adapt to the pace of Premier League football.

But if Spurs do opt to own the young star out, it will need to be to a club willing to grant him game time, which is an issue the Lilywhites have faced early in the season.

Tottenham could use Kota Takai this season

Logic dictates that a player who has yet to play in an English league will need time to adapt to its demands.

That seems like the likely outcome with Takai, but football is not linear, and Tottenham could play over 50 games this season.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are Spurs’ best centre-back pairing when fit, emphasis on when.

Both have been lucky with injuries so far, but the season is still in its early stages, and the intensity of games will only increase here on out.

With plenty of games left to be played and fans yet to see Takai in action, it seems unfair to condemn him to a loan move so soon.

Now that he has returned to training, Frank and Spurs supporters will likely be able to see him in action before making a definitive judgement.

Description

Brooklyn Earick certainly was not messing around when it came to his plans to purchase Tottenham from the Lewis family.

The mega-rich American has money behind him and wanted to invest big in Spurs to make them a serious force on the world stage.

Earick’s takeover of Tottenham would be worth a record £4.5billion, which in turn would make Spurs the second-richest Premier League club behind Manchester United.

At the same time, some questioned whether Earick was the right man for Tottenham, even if he does have plenty of cash.

However, it has now been confirmed that Earick will not go forward with his Tottenham takeover attempt.

Brooklyn Earick sends message after failed Tottenham takeover attempt

Earick informed the Stock Exchange on Monday that he will not be going ahead with his takeover.

The former DJ has now posted a screenshot of the letter on his personal X account along with a message for supporters.

The tweet read: “It’s been a privilege engaging with Tottenham Hotspur and the Lewis family’s representatives over the past few months.

“I have great respect for the club, its leadership, and its supporters, and wish them nothing but success.”

Earick pulling out is another sign that Joe Lewis and his family have no desire to sell up their shares.

Daniel Levy exit sparks speculation of Tottenham sale

The shock departure of Daniel Levy as Tottenham chairman in September sparked speculation of Lewis selling up.

However, Lewis has reportedly made it clear that will not be happening, and so it has proved.

That is not to say another interested party, or parties, will not step forward, but for the time being the North London club remains in the hands of Lewis.

Tottenham are performing well on the field right now under Thomas Frank, which certainly helps matters, but a massive cash injection to take Spurs to the next level will always be welcome.

That is something supporters will certainly hope happens down the line, sooner rather than later.

Major update emerges on £4.5bn Tottenham takeover after Brooklyn Earick talks with Lewis family

Brooklyn Earick has made no secret of his desire to purchase Tottenham in a takeover that would be worth £4.5billion.

It emerged last month that Earick wants to purchase Tottenham for a world-record sum, which would be made up of £3.3bn for the club and £1.2bn in funds for players’ wages and transfers.

That would have propelled Tottenham to the second-richest team in the Premier League, behind only Manchester United.

Indeed, it had supporters dreaming of a fantasy Tottenham XI if the takeover went through and funds were indeed set aside for new signings.

However, a new update that emerged on Monday spells bad news for those hopes.

Brooklyn Earick scraps Tottenham takeover attempt

Earick has been very public with his pursuit of Tottenham, even sharing images from a previous visit to the stadium.

Indeed, the mega-rich American has even posted various comments on social media during Tottenham matches of late.

But it has now been confirmed via a statement to the Stock Exchange that Earick will not be pursuing the takeover attempt further at this point.

“Further to the announcement made by the Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited on 26 September 2025, Mr Brooklyn Earick confirms that he does not intend to make a firm offer for the company,” the statement read.

According to The Sun, this follows significant talks between Earick and Joe Lewis’s legal counsel Douglas Armstrong.

Joe Lewis has no intention of selling up at Tottenham

Even when fans were getting excited by a possible changing of the guard, it was reported Lewis and his family had no intention of bowing out.

And on the basis of Earick backing down – for now – it appears as though Lewis has made it clear through his representative that still remains the case.

Lewis does indeed have no intention of selling his stake, which means Spurs will continue to be overseen by him for a while longer yet.

That is something Spurs fans will have to simply accept. There will no doubt be more speculation similar to this, but Lewis is hear to stay.

Description

Tottenham could experience the biggest change of the last 25 years over the coming months.

The Joe Lewis family have been unafraid to push through several big changes over the past couple of months.

One of the biggest was Spurs’ highly controversial decision to sack Ange Postecoglou just weeks after he had won Tottenham the UEFA Europa League, ending a 17-year trophy drought.

Then came Daniel Levy stepping down as Tottenham chairman after almost 25 years at the helm. It now seems that the latest change could be the Lewis family themselves.

Brooklyn Earick takeover would be ‘a disaster’

Former DJ Brooklyn Earick is the public face of a consortium prepared to put in a £4.5billion bid to buy Tottenham from the Lewis family.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While the Lewis family do not seem to be prepared to part ways with the club, it has been suggested that Earick could formally bid for Spurs in the near future.

Earick has been vocal about his intentions with the North London club on social media, and even criticised Thomas Frank’s decision to play Xavi Simons as a left-winger.

As a result, Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Earick is not the right person to be the face of Spurs.

“Honestly, he looks like someone who’s got way too much money too soon from Bitcoin or something,” Wenham said.

“I can imagine him being an absolute disaster. It sounds awful to say, but just look at the pictures of him and you’ll see what I mean. I could see him being in the Bill Nick pub with the fans every game and that sort of thing. It wouldn’t be boring, don’t get me wrong. But I could see it being a complete disaster.

“You don’t see serious business people posting the itinerary from the club about when he got to look around and things like that. I just don’t see it happening with him. He seems like he’s enjoying the publicity of it all.”

But with the Lewis family keen to remain at the helm at Tottenham, it seems there is little to worry about where Earick is concerned.

How could Tottenham look under Brooklyn Earick?

One of the things on Earick’s reported to-do list if he takes over at Spurs is to invest money into the transfer market.

Objectively, the Lilywhites had one of their best summers in recent history just a couple of weeks ago, with Mohammed Kudus already looking like the steal of the summer.

But the cracks are already beginning to show in North London, particularly on the left wing, to which Tottenham failed to recruit a suitable Son Heung-min replacement over the summer.

However, if Earick was planning to invest heavily in the transfer market, Spurs and Frank could expect several star signings over the next couple of seasons.

Description

Thomas Frank has faced calls to strengthen Tottenham’s squad over the last month.

After an impressive summer transfer window, there was a feeling that Frank would not need any reinforcements so soon.

Early wins against Burnley and Manchester City, as well as Spurs’ recent victory over Leeds United, indicate the Dane can get the job done.

However, two tense games in the Champions League, a deserved defeat to Bournemouth and Tottenham’s draw to Wolves at home would suggest otherwise.

Tyrese Hall scores four in four on loan

Tottenham loaned Tyrese Hall to Notts County as part of their quest to develop their promising talents.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Several of Spurs’ loanees have struggled since leaving North London. There have been calls for Tottenham to end Mikey Moore’s loan to Rangers, while Jamie Donley has struggled for minutes at Stoke City.

However, Hall is not one of those players, having netted four in his last four appearances for the Magpies.

Hall seems like a man on a mission for his loan side and continues to deliver complete performances that Spurs’ senior players have lacked this season.

The 20-year-old primarily plays as an attacking midfielder and is as creative as he is lethal in front of goal.

With Tottenham still struggling to produce convincing attacking plays, Frank must consider recalling Hall from loan if his sensational form continues.

Thomas Frank will look towards Xavi Simons

While Tottenham fans will be crying out for Frank to consider Hall moving forward, the Dane seems hopeful to get the best out of Xavi Simons.

Simons arrived at Spurs over the summer from RB Leipzig, and his performances have been inconsistent at best.

However, it is hypothesised that this stems from Frank deploying the Dutchman on the left wing rather than his natural position behind the striker.

Indeed, Simons arguably had his best game in a Spurs shirt as a 10 against Leeds, despite the failed rabona to Wilson Odobert.

When at his best, the former PSG star is a menace on the ball, able to facilitate attacks and get on the end of chances. If Frank can restore his Leipzig form, Tottenham will likely contend for the Premier League title.

Supercomputer predicts eye-catching Premier League finish after Tottenham win vs Leeds United

Tottenham continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Leeds United on Saturday.

The Lilywhites are flying high in the early-season Premier League table, having been beaten just once in their opening seven league outings so far this term.

Thomas Frank made his Tottenham squad aware of their woeful record in games leading into international breaks, but that curse ultimately had little impact as they secured three points in West Yorkshire.

Mohammed Kudus starred again for the N17 outfit, who will be feeling extremely positive about the way that their campaign has begun.

Tottenham predicted to miss out on Europe despite strong start

Frank will be delighted with the start that Tottenham have made so far this term.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The North Londoners got back to winning ways at the weekend after back-to-back league draws had stunted their progress somewhat.

However, there is plenty of positivity in N17 at the moment, and the team appear to have turned a corner from their disastrous domestic campaign under Ange Postecoglou last time out.

The Spurs hierarchy will be desperate to compete for European football once again in 2025-26, and they have certainly done the groundwork for that to be achieved later in the campaign.

However, Opta’s supercomputer views their chances much less favourably, as it provides the latest perspective of the predicted final table following the latest round of Premier League games.

The Lilywhites are currently occupying a healthy third-place at the moment, but are expected to finish in eighth, which would likely see them miss out on European football altogether.

It is certainly an eye-catching suggestion given the impressive start that they have made in recent weeks.

Spurs will be eyeing Champions League qualification

Champions League football will be huge for Tottenham commercially this term, but they want to ensure their participation for next year’s tournament in much easier fashion this time around.

Their domestic struggles in 2024-25 meant that they had to win the Europa League in order to qualify, but they will surely fancy their chances much more this year.

Frank’s men are already discovering ways to get favourable results from games when they are not at their best, and they will take solace from the fact that plenty of their likely rivals are showing signs of issues.

It is undoubtedly a big ask for them to close the gap to the Premier League’s top sides in the space of just one season, but they will certainly have their sights set a lot higher than eighth.

Injury expert hails ‘sensible’ Tottenham decision as Radu Dragusin edges towards imminent return

Radu Dragusin is finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel with his recovery from injury at Tottenham.

The 23-year-old hasn’t played a single minute for the Lilywhites since 30 January, when he was forced off during the 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg.

Dragusin suffered an ACL injury at Tottenham, and as a result, it has taken all of nine months for him to be in a position where he is now on the verge of a return to action.

However, the timeline for his potential return is now becoming clearer, with Thomas Frank and Co. set to receive a huge boost when he returns to the fold.

Tottenham ‘sensible’ to block Romania call-up for Radu Dragusin

Tottenham stood in the way of Dragusin’s international call-up last week, in what was a somewhat unusual decision for them to take.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Romania manager Mircea Lucescu was left frustrated by the North Londoners’ decision, and noted that the centre-back would be playing again in a month.

It isn’t entirely common for clubs to prevent their players from heading off to represent their country, but injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has praised the N17 outfit for their call to keep Dragusin under their wing until he is fully recovered.

“I absolutely believe Spurs have done the right thing,” Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.

“The final portion of a return to sport can be the most demanding and challenging, so keeping a very close eye on him with the physios and fitness coaches who have been with him this entire time is the most sensible decision.”

Spurs can ease Radu Dragusin back into action

Tottenham are blessed with quality options at centre-back, with the duo of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven arguably both among the best players in the league in their position.

With that in mind, Frank is perfectly capable of easing Dragusin back into action with occasional substitute minutes once he is fit enough.

The boss should be able to keep the workload light on the returnee in the early stages, as Romero and Van de Ven are likely to start the majority of games regardless.

Nevertheless, a trip to join up with his country ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers this week would clearly have been a step too far from Spurs’ perspective.

They can have far more control over the final weeks of his recovery by keeping him firmly in their sight at all times.

Richarlison’s form has been a disappointment since his first few games of the season for Tottenham.

Richarlison had a strong start to the season at Tottenham, which led fans, players and the media to believe he was finally back.

A double during Spurs’ win over Burnley and an admirable performance against Manchester City at the Etihad seemed to have sealed the deal.

However, a month later and there are questions on whether Thomas Frank should omit him from the starting line-up for good.

Dominic Solanke named as ‘better’ Richarlison alternative

Richarlison started from the bench in Spurs’ win over Leeds United, with Mathys Tel netting the opener for Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke has been sidelined at Spurs since their win over Man City, with Frank confirming Solanke had undergone minor ankle surgery.

The Lilywhites’ attack looked better with Solanke at the helm, who often created space, which allowed his fellow attackers into the game.

His injury comes as a huge blow for Spurs, with Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – convinced that the Englishman should start over the Brazilian when fit.

“Solanke, it’s confirmed he had surgery, which is massively frustrating because Solanke took a lot of criticism last year,” Wenham said.

“But for me, he was a significantly better starter, and he’s better than Richarlison. So I would like Solanke to be back in the team as soon as possible.”

If Richarlison keeps up his current form, it would not be difficult for Solanke to displace him upon his return, despite his clear struggles.

Richarlison outperforms Dominic Solanke on the pitch

At first glance, it is easy to judge Richarlison’s season as he continues to drop off from his mid-August form.

But if comparing Richarlison’s current and Solanke’s 2024/25 season per 90, the Brazilian is more complete in almost every facet of the game.

Richarlison’s current season is superior in every metric but off duels won, to which Solanke excels.

This is noticeable when on the pitch. The former Everton star’s all-round game is more pronounced than Solanke, who is more of a pure striker.

Both offer different things while on the pitch, but perhaps the future will look kindly on Frank for sticking with Richarlison a little while longer.

Description

Guglielmo Vicario has struggled to reach the same level displayed during his Tottenham debut season.

Vicario was linked with a departure from Tottenham over the summer, after a difficult second season under Ange Postecoglou.

Other than his heroics to help Spurs lift the UEFA Europa League, the keeper’s performances were subpar.

This poor run of form has carried into the Thomas Frank era, with Jamie O’Hara recently left furious with Vicario for his role in Leeds United’s goal at Elland Road.

The running motif in North London has been change and Vicario could be the latest on the Joe Lewis family’s list.

Tottenham enquire about Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Tottenham have launched an enquiry into Marc-Andre ter Stegen for the winter window, according to Spanish outlet Sport on 4 October.

The German keeper is currently sidelined with a ruptured patellar tendon at Barcelona, but is not expected to replace Joan Garcia upon his return.

Fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Manchester United are also interested, and it is understood that most parties would be open to a loan with purchase option.

The 33-year-old has built quite a lavish reputation during his extensive career, which has earned him praise from even his fiercest rivals on the pitch.

Back in 2018, former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos paid tribute to his then international teammate’s superb qualities.

In quotes provided via AS on 23 March 2018, he said: “I like Ter Stegen a lot.

“Marc is one of the best in the world, and without doubt he is the perfect keeper…for Barcelona.”

Given his current situation at Barcelona, ter Stegen will likely not come to Spurs to play second fiddle. As a result, Vicario may need to accept a peripheral role if a deal materialises.

Tottenham should stick with Guglielmo Vicario

Despite his faults, Vicario is a keeper with time on his side and a lot more to give this developing Tottenham side.

At 28 years of age, Vicario is younger, fitter and can contribute a lot more on and off the pitch.

Not to mention, he was named as part of Frank’s Tottenham leadership group this month, which shows the Dane has a long-term plan for him.

Therefore, Spurs supporters will need to stick behind Vicario for a little while longer, no matter how difficult that seems at the moment.
