Description

Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Premier League in recent weeks.

The Brazilian international has lost his place in Xabi Alonso’s plans owing to Gonzalo Garcia’s emergence at the Club World Cup, thereby being touted to leave the Santiago Bernabeu for greener pastures in England this summer.

Arsenal had been interested in him and according to journalist Santi Aouna, Liverpool are now in the race for the 2-time Champions League winner too.

Foot Mercato has added that Tottenham Hotspur are also pondering over his transfer with Real Madrid valuing him at £86 million. The Reds have already held ‘direct talks’ with the forward’s camp, as per Aouna.

Liverpool may be favourites for Rodrygo

Liverpool have shown a keen interest in Rodrygo Goes in the past. In fact, their interest runs back to 2019 when the player rejected them to join Real Madrid.

If the 24-year-old is to leave this summer, they are expected to be the favourites to sign him as Arsenal’s interest would have significantly cooled after Noni Madueke’s purchase from Chelsea last week.

Tottenham Hotspur, though interested, are unlikely to be a destination the player would consider as they would be a step or two down from Real Madrid.

While Rodrygo would immediately be a key part of Thomas Frank’s plans, Spurs’ track record with hiring and firing managers, as well as inconsistencies with winning silverware might not appeal to the player.

Under Arne Slot, not only are Liverpool an excellent team but after winning the Premier League last season, they have rebuilt their squad superbly.

Given that they are engaging in talks with Rodrygo’s agent, there is a clear willingness to pay his transfer fees. If Luis Diaz leaves, the Reds would need to sign a left winger and can afford Rodrygo’s signing.

Liverpool favourites to sign Marc Guehi ahead of Tottenham

According to The Telegraph, Liverpool remain favourites ahead of Tottenham Hotspur to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi during the summer transfer window.

The England international has entered the last year of his contract at Palace. This has increased speculation that he could be sold by the London outfit. Spurs failed with a late approach to land Guehi last winter and they retain an interest in the centre-back.

The Reds have since joined the race for the former Chelsea graduate, and The Telegraph report that the Premier League holders remain the favourites to sign the 25-year-old if he decides to leave Palace this summer.

Quality defender

Arne Slot’s side are expected to enter the transfer market for a central defender, having parted ways with Jarell Quansah, who made the move to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer. The club still have Joe Gomez to provide backup to Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk, but the Englishman has been injury prone for most of his career.

Konate also had his injury troubles last campaign and Slot may want to rotate his options in the heart of the defence. Guehi would be an outstanding signing for the Merseyside giants. He won an impressive 60% of his duels in the English top flight last season with an average of 4 recoveries, 4 clearances and 2 tackles.

Guehi has largely played as a left-sided centre-back in his career but should have no problem in adapting, given his good mobility and ball control. Like Guehi, Konate has entered the last year of his contract with the English champions. Guehi has an opportunity to secure a starting berth at some point next season if Konate declines to renew.

Both Liverpool and Spurs have Champions League football to play for next season, but the former are obviously a major attraction, given their track record of winning regular trophies. Palace are looking for a package between £40-45 million for Guehi, but Liverpool could seek a discount later in the transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher, as per TBR Football.

After ranking through Chelsea’s youth system, the 25-year-old burst onto the scene during a season-long loan stint at Crystal Palace in the 2021/22 season, making 13 goal contributions in all competitions.

Following that, the Blues gave him the opportunity to showcase his qualities at Stamford Bridge, and he was a regular player in the next two consecutive seasons.

However, the West London club opted to cash-in on him last summer, and Atletico Madrid purchased him. Gallagher is an energetic midfielder, and it felt Diego Simeone’s playing style would be perfect for him.

But he struggled to break into the Argentinian boss’s starting eleven last term, and when he played, he was deployed on the flank in a 4-4-2 system.

Now, TBR Football report that Tottenham are interested in bringing Gallagher back to the Premier League and are willing to make a concrete approach.

Gallagher to Tottenham

Having joined Los Rojiblancos last summer, the midfielder still has four years left in his current contract and is valued at around £35m by Transfermarkt.

The Lilywhites hold a long-term interest in Gallagher as they were heavily linked with a move for him ahead of last season, but the Spanish side eventually won the race.

He is comfortable playing anywhere across the middle of the park and could be a shrewd acquisition for the North London club should they buy him.

Tottenham want a new No.10, and Morgan Gibbs-White was their primary target. They even thought they had managed to sign him by triggering his £60m release clause.

However, Nottingham Forest weren’t happy with the way Spurs tried to finalise the operation and threatened legal action. As a result, the move is in major doubt. So, perhaps, Tottenham are lining up Gallagher as a potential alternative option to Gibbs-White.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure the Atletico Madrid star’s service in this transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur ‘seriously eyeing’ swoop for Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey

Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in signing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig as Thomas Frank looks to upgrade his midfield options. The Dutchman would be a terrific acquisition but has interest from several other clubs in England and Europe with Chelsea reportedly the frontrunners to secure his signatures in a potential £67 million deal.

Sebastien Vidal has reported that Tottenham have already identified an alternative in Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey and are ‘seriously eyeing’ a transfer for the 24-year-old. Given that Unai Emery’s side failed to qualify for the Champions League, the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules will require them to get rid of a few players to balance their books.

Ramsey, while a vital part of the manager’s plans, would yield £50 million and classify the cash inflow caused by his sale as an absolute profit considering he is a homegrown player. Therefore, Aston Villa are prepared to part ways with him for the right money and Tottenham Hotspur could soon commence talks with their Premier League colleagues.

Ramsey’s versatility will prove key

Jacob Ramsey would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur and add some much-needed depth in their engine room. While there are enough deep-lying midfielders at Thomas Frank’s disposal, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are his only creative options who can be impactful in the final third. The Swede is naturally a right winger and may be used higher up this season.

If they are able to bring in the Englishman, Spurs will have a profile who can make runs into spaces and carry the ball forward by linking up with his teammates. His agility and balance help him change direction quickly and effectively to unsettle defences, whereas his ability to play as the number 10 and on either flank is fairly useful too.

Having qualified for the Champions League, Tottenham will feel confident that they can lure Ramsey to Hotspur Way in the summer. The personal terms with the player might not be as much of an issue while agreeing to a deal with Aston Villa could also prove to be a relatively easy job given their need to balance their accounts.

Tottenham willing to pay £61 million to sign Illia Zabarnyi from Bournemouth

Description

Tottenham Hotspur started pre-season on a good note with a 2-0 win over Reading on Saturday. Luka Vuskovic scored a goal and an assist on his maiden appearance for the club, while Mohammed Kudus also came on at half-time and provided an assist for the Lilywhites in what was also his first outing for the club since joining from West Ham. Mathys Tel did not feature at all.

Spurs’ two newest recruits have already made their mark whereas Tel promises to be a vital signing going forward as well. That said, Tottenham are continuing their search for newer players and Caught Offside has reported that Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi is the latest on their radar. The source adds that they are willing to pay £61 million to sign him.

Zabarnyi has been linked with Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain too over the recent past, but Tottenham’s willingness to match Bournemouth’s asking price has placed them in pole position to sign him. The Blues and the Reds have not held formal talks for the player just yet, although PSG had an initial bid rejected and might come back with an improved offer soon.

Spurs don’t need Zabarnyi

Tottenham Hotspur have a very sought-after backline. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are undisputed starters, whereas Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin are fantastic options to have off the bench. Luka Vuskovic’s arrival this summer has further added to their options, so it is debatable whether or not they should spend close to £60 million on another central defender.

If anything, Spurs require another left back, whereas Illia Zabarnyi has predominantly featured in the heart of the backline for Bournemouth and never as a wide man in the back four. That said, the player also might not be too keen on joining the Europa League champions considering the wholesale competition in his preferred position.

Chelsea and Liverpool would be solid destinations for Zabarnyi, however, though both clubs are yet to formally declare their interest in signing him. Paris Saint-Germain could therefore fancy their chances of signing the Ukrainian international with an improved bid as they look for a younger option to replace their captain Marquinhos in the longer run.

Tottenham & Arsenal open talks to sign Xavi Simons

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have reportedly opened talks over a deal to sign RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, as per Caught Offside.

After appointing Thomas Frank as the new manager, the Lilywhites have purchased Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United to bolster the frontline.

Moreover, the Danish boss wants a new No.10, and Morgan Gibbs-White was his priority target. Spurs even thought they had managed to secure the Englishman’s service by triggering his release clause.

However, Nottingham Forest have accused the North London club of an illegal approach and have threatened legal action against Frank’s side. Therefore, the deal is in jeopardy, and the 25-year-old has been continuing pre-season training under Nuno Espirito Santo’s supervision.

So, after realising purchasing Gibbs-White would be difficult, it appears Tottenham have started exploring alternative options.

Caught Offside state that Tottenham are interested in Simons and have already begun talks with the player’s representatives over a potential move, with the Dutchman keen on moving to the Premier League.

Battle

After initially joining on a loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain a couple of years ago, Simons signed for Leipzig permanently last winter and agreed on a contract until 2027. Now, the German side are ready to let him leave for a fee of around £52m[€60m].

Apart from Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are also in this race and have held talks with the player’s agent. However, there are some concerns about the player’s attitude and professionalism, which might be the reason clubs might not want to sign him by matching Leipzig’s asking price.

Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City were also interested in him previously, but they have reinforced the CAM position this summer. So, they are unlikely to make a move for Simons.

The Netherlands international is a versatile player as he is comfortable playing anywhere across the attacking midfield position. He has showcased his productivity in recent years and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal or Tottenham should either club purchase him.

Martin Odegaard is the only No.10 Arsenal currently has, but he failed to step up on the big stage last term. On the other hand, Ethan Nwaneri is another option, but he is still very young and needs time to develop.

Tottenham battling with Chelsea to sign Alejandro Garnacho

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly battling Chelsea over a deal to sign Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho, as per the Daily Mail.

The Lilywhites are set to commence a new era under Thomas Frank from next season, and the Dane has prioritised bolstering the frontline at his new club.

They have already purchased Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, but Frank is seemingly planning to add more depth to this department. The Daily Mail report that Spurs are interested in Garnacho and have been monitoring his situation before making a potential swoop.

Although the Argentinian played regularly under Ruben Amorim last term, the Portuguese boss has decided to banish the Argentinian from the first team following his remarks after the Europa League final defeat.

So, he has been training away from the main squad this summer, and alongside him, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia have been banished by Amorim. United initially wanted to recoup £70m for the South American, but they are unlikely to get that much because of his current situation.

Apart from Tottenham, Chelsea are also plotting a swoop for him, and Aston Villa are in this race as well. Napoli wanted to buy him last winter, but United rejected the approach, and they aren’t planning to revive their interest. Atletico Madrid have also been linked with a move for him, but Garnacho is prioritising staying in the Premier League.

Battle

Chelsea have been very busy in this transfer window and have already purchased Jamie Gittens, but want more firepower in the wide areas following Noni Madueke’s departure.

At the moment, the West London club have Pedro Neto and Gittens as the only prominent options for the flanks. Willian Estevao will join, but might take time to settle down in his new surroundings.

Garnacho is a left winger by trait, but is also comfortable on the opposite side. The Argentinian showcased glimpses of his qualities last term, scoring 11 goals and registering 10 assists in all competitions.

The 21-year-old is still very young and possesses high potential, so he would be a shrewd acquisition for Chelsea, Tottenham, or Aston Villa should any of those clubs eventually manage to secure his service.

Tottenham battling with Newcastle to sign Harvey Elliott

Description

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool star Harvey Elliott, as per transfer expert Mike Brown.

Although the 22-year-old has never been a regular starter for the Reds, he played frequently under Jurgen Klopp, mainly as a rotational option. However, the youngster found himself completely out of favour under Arne Slot last term.

He started only three times in the Premier League and Champions League, but still he managed to make six goal contributions. The midfielder netted an excellent goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the last-16 of Europe’s elite club competition.

Elliott was an integral part of the England national team, who won the U21 European Championship this summer. So, following his recent struggles at Anfield, speculation surrounding his future has started emerging this summer.

On Football Insider, Brown says that Elliott isn’t short of potential suitors as Tottenham, Newcastle, and Brighton are plotting a swoop for him. Moreover, a few German clubs have also expressed their interest in him.

Spurs will hold talks with the player’s representatives to understand his demands for joining and will also make contact with Liverpool to enquire about the details of sealing the deal.

Elliott to Tottenham

The Merseyside club don’t see Elliott in their long-term project, so they are ready to cash-in on him. The Lilywhites watched the youngster closely in the U21 European Championship, and after being impressed by him, they are now prepared to make a move.

The former scout states that Elliott would be an asset for any club, as he is a ‘very talented player’.

Brown said:

“There’s no shortage of interest in Harvey Elliott. Newcastle and Tottenham are the latest names I’ve heard, both of them are going to test the waters and see what it would take to bring him in. They’ll speak to his agent and find out what he’s asking for and what Liverpool are going to want.

“I think he could be an asset to any of those clubs because he’s a very talented player. These clubs will have been watching him with England’s Under-21s and after seeing the way he played in that side, they’re now prepared to make a move. He doesn’t have much of a place at Liverpool any more, so they’re ready to let him go.”

Elliott is valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt and has entered the final two years of his current contract. Therefore, the Reds are in a strong position to demand a big fee for him.

Elliott is a versatile forward as he can play on the right flank and in the CAM role. Moreover, he is comfortable providing cover in the box-to-box role in a midfield three.

He is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top; therefore, he would be a great coup for Tottenham should they purchase him.

Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing Yoane Wissa from Brentford this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have made two signings so far in the summer in Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus but business for the Lilywhites is far from over.

Thomas Frank is keen on signing a new centre forward as well in the transfer window as he looks to add competition for Dominic Solanke, who was inconsistent in terms of form as well as fitness last season.

Football Insider has reported that Spurs are interested in signing Yoane Wissa from Brentford. The 28-year-old scored 20 goals and provided five assists in all competitions last season.

He is in the last 12 months of his contract with the club, so they will need to sell him this time around in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

With that said, the report adds that Brentford are not looking to sell him along with Bryan Mbeumo, who is close to joining Manchester United.

Nevertheless, Spurs might yet consider testing the waters owing to Wissa’s contract situations in order to secure a bargain transfer for the player, who is valued close to £28 million on Transfermarkt.

Wissa an ideal signing for Spurs

Yoane Wissa has had the best years of his career under Thomas Frank, so it comes as no surprise why there is interest in him from Tottenham Hotspur after their recent hiring of the Dane in the managerial role.

Having said that, he would be a solid signing for the Londoners, more so if they manage to secure a reasonable price for him.

He is fast, intelligent and is capable of making overloading runs into the box in behind the defences. He can also take on players with the ball at his feet, create chances by drifting into the wide areas and use his pace and power to cut in to score goals.

Arguably, he is a more complete product than Dominic Solanke, who is not much more than a poacher and good hold-up player.

Man Utd step up interest in signing Joao Palhinha

Man Utd step up interest in signing Joao Palhinha - football-talk.co.uk
Description

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United could compete with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have so far made two signings in Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon this summer. They are also in advanced negotiations with Brentford to secure the services of winger Bryan Mbeumo.

Caught Offside now claim that the Mancunian giants are interested in bringing Palhinha back to the Premier League. The Portuguese is open to a move after struggling for game time under manager Vincent Kompany.

United have already made a loan approach for the former Fulham man, but Bayern prefer a permanent transfer between £26 million and £30 million to part ways with the 30-year-old this summer.

Tottenham are reportedly one of the leading candidates to sign him alongside the Red Devils.

Premier League experience

Palhinha had a fantastic Premier League career with Fulham. He was ever-present in the number six role for the Cottagers, making almost 70 appearances. The Nations League winner caught the eye with his tackling, duel-winning ability and quick recoveries.

This is something which Man United are missing in the current squad. Manuel Ugarte came with a huge reputation from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, but he struggled to cope with the higher intensity and made some defensive errors as well.

Casemiro is no longer in his prime and has been vulnerable against the high press. Kobbie Mainoo played in a number 6 role at the start of his career, but manager Ruben Amorim sees him as a number 10 with lower defensive responsibility.

Hence, the door is open for another holding midfielder in the squad. Palhinha would be a welcome addition to the Red Devils’ ranks, given he has good Premier League experience and could seamlessly fit into the starting plans of the manager.

The only concern for the Red Devils should be his injury record. Palhinha managed to stay unscathed during his time at Fulham, but missed 17 games during the previous campaign with a muscular injury. This could be a reason why United are yet to make a permanent bid for his services this summer.
