Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ‘confident’ to seal a deal to sign OGC Nice star Evann Guessand, as per Football Insider.

The Lilywhites currently have Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as options to deploy in the centre-forward position. Son Heung-min and Mathys Tel can also provide cover in this position if needed, but they are more comfortable out wide.

However, the Brazilian has struggled with fitness problems in recent years and has been linked with a move away from the club. On the other hand, Son is reportedly set to be sold following Tottenham’s pre-season tour in South Korea.

Therefore, Thomas Frank is seemingly lining up potential replacements should Richarlison and Son eventually leave over the coming weeks. Now, Football Insider state that Tottenham are interested in Guessand but they are set to face tough competition from Brighton and Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Fenerbahce over this deal.

However, the player has no intention of moving to Turkiye and Tottenham are ‘confident’ that they would be able to beat Brighton and Wolves in this race as they have qualified for the Champions League.

Although Guessand still has three years left in his current contract, Nice are ready to cash-in on him for a fee of up to £25m.

Guessand to Tottenham

The Ivory Coast international, standing at 6ft 1in tall, is comfortable playing in the centre-forward position as well as on the right flank. He has been attracting a lot of attention having enjoyed a productive campaign in Ligue 1 last term, scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists in 33 appearances.

Guessand is a talented player and is still just 24, so he could be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham should they eventually manage to lure him away from Allianz Riviera Stadium this summer.

Meanwhile, apart from signing a new striker, Tottenham are also interested in a new wide forward. Having been linked with Bryan Mbeumo, Eberechi Eze, and Antoine Semenyo over the last few weeks, Frank’s side have accelerated their efforts to sign Mohammed Kudus.

The player has already agreed on personal terms with the Lilywhites and they have been working on a deal to secure his service before the start of next season.

Tottenham have ‘made an enquiry’ over a possible move to sign Bournemouth’s winger Antoine Semenyo this summer, according to The Athletic.

The Europa League champions will advance to the UEFA Champions League next season. They will need the best possible quality, particularly in attack, to enable them to go the distance in the competition.

One of the forward options being targeted is Semenyo, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise in form since joining the Cherries from Championship side Bristol City in January 2023.

According to the Athletic, Spurs have opened talks after making ‘an inquiry’ over the possible transfer of Semenyo to North London this summer.

The report adds that the London-born Ghana international is intrigued by the prospect of moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Bournemouth’s high valuation of the player has slowed down the deal.

With four years left on his contract at the Vitality Stadium, the report adds that Bournemouth have placed a £70m valuation on the 25-year-old, who is also of keen interest to Manchester United.

Semenyo to Tottenham

Since moving to the South Coast from Bristol City in January 2023, Semenyo has had his most productive spell yet at the Vitality Stadium. The forward registered 13 goals and chipped in with seven assists in all competitions last season—a standout campaign that hasn’t gone unnoticed, with the likes of Tottenham and other top European sides now closely tracking his progress.

On most occasions, Tottenham’s poor season – finishing in 17th place just above the relegation zone – typically puts them at a disadvantage when negotiating for in-demand players like Semenyo.

Still, their Europa League title win means they now have leverage, as they can offer players the prospect of featuring in the UEFA Champions League.

Hence, with enquiries being made, Spurs could be in a good position to complete a swoop ahead of Man Utd, but problems persist in Bournemouth’s steep valuation.

Should Spurs proceed with making a deal, the Ghanaian forward could bring Mbeumo-esque qualities to the club, as his finishing, creativity, and relentless work rate are the characteristics of an archetypal winger that Thomas Frank likes.

In the meantime, it has been reported that Liverpool have already started planning to bolster the squad this summer to maintain their level next campaign.

Caught Offside claim that Arne Slot wants a new wide forward, and the Anfield club are keen on signing Bowen. Along with the Reds, Tottenham are in this race as well, but the Hammers have no intention of letting their star man leave with his existing deal set to run until 2030.

Therefore, Liverpool and Spurs are planning to submit a formal £51m bid to persuade the East London club to cash-in on the 28-year-old.

Battle

The Englishman is currently at the prime stage of his career and the Hammers haven’t been progressing at all. They were fighting for European places under David Moyes but following his departure, they are languishing just above the relegation zone this term.

Therefore, he might be tempted to take the next step in his career if he receives a formal offer from Tottenham or Liverpool. Bowen has been a talismanic figure for West Ham in recent years and has been in fine form this season as well, making 17 goal contributions in all competitions.

Bowen is a left-footed right winger but is also comfortable in the centre-forward position if needed. Spurs currently have Brennan Johnson as the first-choice option to deploy on the right flank.

Wilson Odobert is an option for this role, but has been struggling with fitness problems. On the other hand, Dejan Kulusevski can also provide cover in the right flank but has played mainly in a midfield three under Ange Postecoglou.
