Multiple clubs are trying to sign ‘incredible’ Tottenham youngster on loan at the last minute of deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur have arguably been one of the busiest Premier League sides in the transfer window this month.

Tottenham are currently closing in on their fourth signing in the form of Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich, a significant coup for Daniel Levy.

Spurs welcomed both Yang Min-hyeok and Antonin Kinsky at the start of January, and have now added Kevin Danso in addition to Tel.

A relatively strong end to the window, even if another centre-back might still be needed given Radu Dragusin’s injury.

Of course, Min-hyeok has left Tottenham on loan for Queens Park Rangers, a six-month loan which could be invaluable for the 18-year-old in terms of adapting to English football.

And the South Korean might now be followed by another young Tottenham attacker in the next few hours.

Swansea City one of a few sides interested in taking Damola Ajayi on loan

According to journalist Tom Barclay who shared his update on X, there’s been late interest in 19-year-old winger Damola Ajayi.

Given Postecoglou’s injury crisis, Ajayi has often appeared on the bench for Spurs’ first team recently, even playing a significant role against Elfsborg in the Europa League.

Ajayi replaced Richarlison in the 81st minute and scored a ‘incredible’ solo goal in the 3-0 win.

And that moment has appeared to have caught the eye of Championship side Swansea City, who are interested in a late deal.

Barclay wasn’t sure if Ajayi would ultimately end up leaving Spurs, but he admitted there were also some League One clubs in the mix, too.

He said: “I’m told there’s been a bit of late loan interest in Damola Ajayi, who scored on his Spurs debut v Elfsborg last week, from Swansea and some League One clubs but not sure he’ll move at this stage.”

Tottenham might need to keep Damola Ajayi

Of course, Ajayi does seem to be one of those who are on the borderline of first team action, but maybe not quite there.

Therefore, six months in the Championship or League One could be the perfect opportunity for the youngster to prove a point to Postecoglou.

When all are fit, Spurs have strong competition for places in wide areas, but given their injuries, it might ultimately be concluded that Ajayi is needed.

Tottenham are set to sign Tel, but they are still not looking comfortable up top until the likes of Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johson return from their respective issues.

A difficult situation to navigate, and perhaps Spurs are done moving around their squad just yet before the deadline.

Tottenham have considered move for defender who plays like Jan Vertonghen as alternative to Axel Disasi

Tottenham Hotspur are still pushing to sign a new centre-back in the final hours of the transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou’s side couldn’t do much in the first four weeks of the window apart from bringing in Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague.

Kevin Danso, a really talented centre-back, was announced as a new Spurs player on Sunday, but Tottenham need another player in the heart of their defence because Radu Dragusin’s injury is serious.

Axel Disasi is a player Tottenham want, but there is an alternative option.

Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham like Ko Itakura

Disasi has been of serious interest to Tottenham in recent days.

The defender has no future at Chelsea and the Blues are open to letting him leave the club before Monday night’s 11 pm deadline.

However, Disasi has preferred a move to Aston Villa over Tottenham, and that is the reason why a deal hasn’t been done yet.

Tottenham are still trying to sign Disasi, but Fabrizio Romano has claimed that a few other central defenders have been considered too as alternatives.

One of them is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ko Itakura.

TBR Football revealed Tottenham’s interest in Itakura at the end of December. But, a move on deadline day has been described by Romano as ‘complicated’ for Spurs to pull off.

He said in a video on his YouTube channel: “Alternative to Disasi? Tottenham tried for many defenders. For example, I can tell you that a player they like is for sure Ko Itakura at Borussia Monchengladbach.

“But, it is another complicated deal because Borussia cannot find a replacement.

“So there are several options they have been considering. Let’s see if Tottenham find the right one before the end of the deadline.”

Who is Tottenham target Ko Itakura?

Itakura is a 28-year-old Japanese defender who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.

He was on Manchester City’s books for a few years, but never played a game for the reigning Premier League champions.

The Bundesliga’s official website describes Itakura as a player who is ‘rangy and quick over the ground’ and ‘makes defending look easy’.

Jamie O’Hara says Tottenham have a chance to make an incredible signing on deadline day

We’re heading into the final few hours of the transfer window, and Tottenham have work to do still.

Spurs look to have found their man in an attacking sense as Mathys Tel is set to join Spurs, but Tottenham still need a new defender.

Spurs have signed Kevin Danso, but after an injury to Radu Dragusin, Tottenham still want another defender on deadline day.

Axel Disasi has been linked to Tottenham recently, while Spurs made a bid for Marc Guehi towards the end of the transfer window too.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Jamie O’Hara has been discussing Spurs’ move for Guehi, and he says that Tottenham have the chance to make an incredible signing here.

Marc Guehi would be an incredible signing for Tottenham

O’Hara shared his verdict on a potential move to Spurs for Guehi.

According to the pundit, Guehi would be an incredible signing and his arrival would go a long way towards getting fans back onside amid complaints about Daniel Levy and the Spurs board.

“I know they’ve brought in Danso, but spend the money on Guehi, if you can get that done and force him out of Crystal Palace. What a signing that would be, that would really get everyone back on side to say Spurs want to deliver big players,” O’Hara said.

“I know it’s a lot of money, but he’s a top, top player, I don’t know if Levy would want to go to that level and go big, but that’s a great opportunity. I don’t think Palace want to let him go.”

Marc Guehi record vs Tottenham

Tottenham have looked at signing Guehi on deadline day, and it’s easy to see why Spurs are such big admirers of the defender.

Indeed, not only did Guehi have a fantastic European Championship, he’s also performed well against Spurs in the past.

Guehi’s record against Tottenham really isn’t bad considering the disparity between Crystal Palace and Tottenham in terms of stature.

Guehi played a key part in Palace’s 1-0 win against Tottenham earlier this season too as he put in a colossal performance on the day.

Guehi is a top defender, and he would be the perfect late addition for Tottenham, but whether or not Spurs can resurrect this deal remains to be seen.

TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Chelsea sources are now saying about Axel Disasi’s future amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

Disasi is unhappy at Chelsea, having made just 17 appearances for them this term, and is looking to move as Tottenham and Aston Villa circle.

TBR Football exclusively revealed that Disasi wants to join Aston Villa instead of Tottenham before Monday night’s deadline.

Now, TBR Football has shared what Chelsea now have planned for Disasi and who out of Villa and Tottenham seem likeliest to sign him.

Chelsea pushing to send Axel Disasi to Tottenham as Aston Villa all-but give up

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Chelsea are saying they do expect Axel Disasi to go – but only on their terms.

Talks are ongoing, but Villa don’t think they can do any more in pursuit of the £39million man, while Chelsea are now pushing him hard to Tottenham.

TBR Football sources also understand that Villa have not given up on Juan Foyth, although as this point in the day, time is against them.

Why Chelsea prefer the idea of Disasi going to Tottenham over Villa

It has been reported that Chelsea are far more open to Tottenham signing Disasi on loan over Villa as they view them as direct rivals to qualify for the Champions League.

The Villans currently sit eighth in the table, just three points behind sixth-placed Chelsea and a further point behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are down in 14th place, just 10 points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Whoever gets Disasi would be getting a player who Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has deemed “complete and dominant”.

Disasi has also been likened to Liverpool and Netherlands star Virgil van Dijk.

Fabrizio Romano says deadline day Tottenham deal is now off again

Description

It’s been a tumultuous transfer window for Tottenham to say the least.

Indeed, it’s been a real story of deals being off, on and off again.

Tottenham were close to signing Randal Kolo Muani at one point, but the striker snubbed them for Juventus.

Alternatively, Mathys Tel had rejected Tottenham a few days ago, but now, Tel is set to sign for Tottenham on loan on deadline day.

Tottenham have also been trying to sign a centre-back on deadline day.

Spurs bid for Marc Guehi, but that deal looks off, while Tottenham were trying to sign Axel Disasi towards the end of the window.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on Market Madness, at the moment, the Disasi deal isn’t progressing.

Axel Disasi to Tottenham is off

Romano shared what he knows about Disasi and Spurs.

According to the journalist, this deal is currently off, but that could change in the next few hours if Disasi’s stance changes.

“It depends on what the player wants to do. I think if Axel Disasi decides to call in the next few hours and say ‘Ok, I’m coming to Tottenham.’ They are still keen on making this deal happen,” Romano said.

“But at the moment that is not happening, Disasi agreed terms with Aston Villa, he wanted to join Aston Villa, Champions League football, a direct call with Unai Emery, but Chelsea are not giving players to Aston Villa on loan.”

Axel Disasi stats this season

As things stand, Disasi isn’t so keen to join Tottenham, but he may change his mind as reality sets in.

The Frenchman wants to join Aston Villa, but Chelsea are blocking that path.

As we tick towards the deadline, a move to Spurs may be Disasi’s only option, and he’d be a fool not to take that chance.

Indeed, as the stats show this season, Disasi isn’t progressing at Chelsea as he’s barely getting a game.

Disasi needs regular first-team football, and that’s something he simply isn’t going to be afforded at Stamford Bridge.

As the deadline approaches, Disasi’s stance may well change and he could find himself making the trip across London to Spurs at some point before the deadline.

Tottenham are suddenly trying to sign £39m Premier League player again before the deadline

Tottenham Hotspur have sprung into action in the transfer window over the past few days.

Indeed, after a month of sitting on their hands, Tottenham have got to work in the transfer window, and there could be a flurry of activity late in the day.

Kevin Danso joined Tottenham over the weekend, while Mathys Tel is set to sign for Spurs too.

Tottenham still want another defender, and they have been putting some feelers out over the past few hours.

Spurs bid for Marc Guehi, but that deal appears to be very difficult to do, and now, Tottenham are looking at another option from within the Premier League.

Indeed, while Spurs tried to sign a former Chelsea player in the shape of Guehi, they’re now looking at bringing in a current Chelsea man.

Tottenham resurrect Axel Disasi interest

According to Matt Law, Tottenham have resurrected their interest in Chelsea’s Axel Disasi late in the transfer window.

There are just hours left to run in this window, and Spurs are trying to bring Disasi to north London.

This would be a staggering turn of events so late in the window if the £39m man heads to Spurs.

Disasi looked set for Aston Villa at one point, and this would be the first deal done between Tottenham and Chelsea in almost 25 years.

Spurs and Chelsea, historically, don’t do business, but that could change late in this transfer window.

What Mauricio Pochettino said about Axel Disasi

Tottenham fans may be wary about signing a player who can’t get into the Chelsea starting XI as things stand.

However, Disasi isn’t a bad player, and he’s even had the seal of approval from former Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino.

Indeed, Pochettino praised Disasi during his time at Stamford Bridge, via Chelsea’s website.

“He still has the potential to improve, we are waiting for more, but he’s doing well,” Pochettino said.

“It’s not easy to arrive in the Premier League and perform in a team that is in a process of building. The defensive players always struggle a little bit more than the offensive players in that situation.

“We are happy with him because he can play centre-back but also can help the team at right-back because of injuries, like we’ve had with Reece and Malo. He’s a player we knew and it was a bit lucky, because maybe another coach and coaching staff wouldn’t have known that he can play right-back.

“When we were at Paris Saint-Germain he played one game against us with Monaco when he was on the side of the defence, playing against Kylian Mbappe. We saw that he could perform as a right-back, but he’s a centre-back who I think can play on both sides.

“We are so happy because his adaptation has been really good. He suffered a little bit in the beginning, which is normal, but he’s a player who has the potential to improve more.”

If Disasi is good enough for Pochettino, he’s good enough for Tottenham, and this could be an interesting late move on deadline day.

The signing Tottenham want to make ‘in addition’ to Mathys Tel on deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur are set for a blockbuster deadline day.

Tottenham are set to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich before the close of play today, and that comes after the addition of Kevin Danso at the weekend.

Tel is arriving at Spurs after a few failed attempts at signing other strikers.

Indeed, Tottenham wanted Randal Kolo Muani earlier this month, while Noah Okafor was a Spurs target too late in the day.

However, Tel may not be the only new addition at Spurs on deadline day.

According to Nick Powell, speaking on Sky Sports News (3/2/25 3:10PM), there is still another signing that Tottenham want to make on deadline day in addition to Tel.

Tottenham also want to sign a new defender

According to Powell, Tottenham still want to sign another defender after securing a loan deal for Tel.

Tottenham bid for Marc Guehi late in the day, and while that offer was rejected, Spurs do still need another centre-half.

“The other big news today. Crystal Palace rejected a bid from Tottenham for Marc Guehi over the weekend. Guehi is now expected to stay at Palace. Tottenham do still want to sign a defender in addition to Tel, two Chelsea loan outgoings are close too, Joao Felix to AC Milan and Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund,” Powell said.

Tottenham defensive options analysed

Spurs want a new centre-back, and it’s easy to understand why they may be keen to add another defender.

Radu Dragusin has picked up a serious injury, so Spurs are one man down at the back once again.

Dragusin had been starting regularly recently amid an injury crisis.

Indeed, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have struggled to stay fit this season, and Spurs have got to factor in fitness problems when building their squad.

The only reliable centre-back option Tottenham have had this season in terms of availability has been Archie Gray, and even then he’s a more natural midfielder.

Spurs do need depth at the back given their current problems, and it would be wise for Ange Postecoglou’s side to add another defender to their ranks before the deadline.

Insider now shares exciting new Mathys Tel detail for Tottenham fans amid talks with Bayern Munich

Mathys Tel is seemingly on his way to Tottenham.

The Bayern Munich No.39 has suddenly changed his mind about a move to Spurs – and now seems set to team up with Ange Postecoglou on loan.

Tel is on a plane to England to sign for Tottenham – in a deal which is expected to simply be a dry loan with no option or obligation for Spurs to sign the Frenchman permanently.

Now – however – Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has shared an interesting new detail about Mathys Tel.

Tottenham are trying to negotiate a purchase option for Mathys Tel

The reliable Spurs insider has now claimed on X (previously known as Twitter) that Tottenham are trying to get Bayern Munich to agree to a purchase option during negotiations with the German giants.

When asked if there would be an obligation to buy involved in the loan deal, O’Keefe wrote: “Could be a loan but Spurs pushing for an option.”

That should come as an exciting update for Tottenham fans for obvious reasons.

Mainly, if the precociously talented Tel – who some liken to Thierry Henry – thrives in the Premier League, Bayern Munich would presumably either look to reintegrate him at the Allianz Arena, or host an auction to sell this summer, which could spark a bidding war and possibly see Spurs miss out.

However, if Tottenham can shake hands on a fixed purchase option fee now, it protects Postecoglou from this realistic situation occurring, and makes any drastic rise in Tel’s value irrelevant to Spurs between now and the end of the season.

Bayern Munich and Tottenham have already agreed a fee for Mathys Tel

Before Tel himself rejected Tottenham last week, Bayern Munich and Spurs agreed a €60m (£50m) fee over a permanent sale.

The 19-year-old has, of course, now changed his mind and agreed to join Tottenham on loan, but his hesitation over the initial agreement would suggest he personally may not be too keen on Spurs having an option to buy him this summer.

£50m player is now on a plane to sign for Tottenham after dramatic last minute U-turn

There has now been a shock transfer development at Tottenham.

Spurs were rejected by Mathys Tel earlier in the window – despite agreeing a €60m (£50m) fee with Bayern Munich for the France U21 international.

The 19-year-old has since been looked at by Arsenal and Manchester United, although neither Premier League side could reach an agreement with Bayern Munich nor the Frenchman.

Now – however – Mathys Tel is on his way to Tottenham in a surprise development.

Mathys Tel makes U-turn on Tottenham

In what is a truly incredible story, the teenager has now changed his mind and agreed to join Tottenham.

Tel – who Tim Sherwood told to join Spurs just hours ago – will link up with Ange Postecoglou on an initial loan deal, and is already on a plane to England with his agent, Gadiri Camara.

Speaking live on Sky Sports from outside Hotspur Way, correspondent Michael Bridge said: “We say never say never on deadline day, this is absolutely incredible.

“My cameraman said, can you imagine Mathys Tel turning up here, that was at 7am. I went, I can’t see it, but wow.

“Breaking news. Mathys Tel has done a U-turn and said yes to Tottenham Hotspur. Quite incredible breaking news here. What we know is that Tel is on a plane and it looks like it is going to London potentially and not Manchester, that is what we are told. Massive breaking news. Friday we were told Mathys Tel said thanks but no thanks – but it seems he has changed his mind.”

Tottenham will NOT have an option or obligation to buy the Sarcelles-born striker this summer at the end of his loan deal.

Where Ange Postecoglou should use Mathys Tel

The talented Frenchman can play anywhere across the frontline, so Spurs are getting a versatile forward.

Looking at the numbers, Postecoglou would be wise to deploy Tel – who has been compared to Thierry Henry – on the left.

The prodigy who joined Bayern Munich for Rennes in a £25m deal – aged just 17 – has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 34 appearances on the left throughout his career.

In comparison, Tel has only netted five goals and provided one assist in 33 appearances in the centre, while bagging four and one assist in 14 games on the right.

When Tottenham actually bid for Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace reject Spurs' club

Tottenham Hotspur have certainly shown how ambitious they are by launching a big-money bid to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

But unfortunately for Spurs, Crystal Palace rejected their bid to sign Guehi for £70 million.

Furthermore, sources have told TBR Football that Guehi is happy to stay at Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

Tottenham have already signed Kevin Danso on loan to bolster their defence but clearly, the Lilywhites felt their defence needed more strengthening as they aim to climb above 14th place in the Premier League.

Tottenham launched £70 million bid for Marc Guehi before Kevin Danso move

Guehi considers Tottenham a quality side, praising them after Crystal Palace’s 1-0 win against Spurs earlier this season.

Tottenham certainly seem to feel the same about Marc Guehi, with journalist Ed Aarons revealing that their bid to sign him was made even before they wrapped up a deal for Danso on loan.

Ange Postecoglou feels Tottenham are “short” in defence, with Radu Dragusin suffering a serious injury, Cristian Romero still recovering from injury and Micky van de Ven only recently returning to full fitness.

Guehi, considered “top-drawer” by Joe Cole would have seamlessly slotted in at Tottenham, considering he has proven his quality in the English top-flight and at international level. But Spurs will have to be wary of Chelsea, who have been eyeing Guehi since September.

Tottenham target Marc Guehi likely to leave Crystal Palace in the summer

But sources have told TBR Football that Guehi is expected to leave Crystal Palace this summer, which could give Tottenham the chance to re-ignite their interest in bringing him over to N17 in a few months’ time.

So much so that Crystal Palace have not even offered the Abidjan-born colossus fresh terms as they expect him to leave.

Spurs could potentially even sign Guehi for a lower fee than their £70 million bid as his contract at Selhurst Park will have just a year left on it.
