What’s now being said about Noah Okafor and Tottenham ‘in the last hour’

Tottenham appear to be the team to watch on this transfer deadline day.

Indeed, with Spurs sitting 14th in the Premier League, Tottenham need some serious help, and they are trying to make some deals happen late in the day.

Kevin Danso has joined Spurs, while Axel Disasi is a concrete Tottenham target in the final hours of this window.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have also bid for Marc Guehi late in the day.

Guehi and Disasi are defensive targets for Tottenham, but let’s not forget, Tottenham also want a new attacker.

Indeed, Tottenham wanted Randal Kolo Muani earlier this month, while Tottenham tried to sign Mathys Tel this week too.

Speaking on Market Madness, Ben Jacobs has been discussing some potential late action from Spurs on deadline day, and he says that he’s heard in the past hour that Noah Okafor could end up at Tottenham.

Noah Okafor to Tottenham possible late on

Jacobs shared what he’s heard about the £25m man and Tottenham in the last hour.

The journalist says that it’s worth keeping an eye on Tottenham signing a new attacker and that Okafor is one to watch late on.

“The stories to keep an eye on are as follows – Joao Felix’s future, Tottenham, not just as far as a defender is concerned, also an attacker for Spurs as well,” Jacobs said.

“Also an attacker for Spurs, and one scenario has been put to me in the last hour that Joao Felix could go to AC Milan and Noah Okafor goes to Spurs, that could be one to watch as well,

Noah Okafor stats this season

Tottenham keep trying to sign new strikers, but, for some reason, they keep going for players who aren’t in good form.

Indeed, Mathys Tel hasn’t scored all season, Randal Kolo Muani had just two goals to his name before his move to Juventus, while Evan Ferguson was linked with Tottenham too, and he’s only scored one goal this season too.

It’s a similar story for Okafor too. The AC Milan striker has bagged just one goal all season long in Serie A.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Tottenham do need bodies through the door, but surely they can do better than signing strikers who’ve only scored one or two goals all season.

It’s late in the day, so it is slim pickings for Tottenham, but it’s hard to imagine that Okafor will be the answer to all of Ange Postecoglou’s late transfer window prayers.

Tim Sherwood tells £50m player to sign for Tottenham despite Arsenal interest

Now, both Tottenham and Arsenal have been trying to sign Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel, who could leave the Bundesliga on loan should the right offer arrive.

In fairness to Spurs, Daniel Levy appeared to have readied the right bid to sign Tel, only for the player to then snub a move to N17.

Tel rejected Tottenham, even though Levy had travelled to Germany to conclude a £50m deal for the France under-21 international.

On their part, Arsenal are still chasing Tel, but it remains to be seen if a deal will be possible before the end of deadline day.

Tim Sherwood thinks Mathys Tel should have joined Tottenham

That being said, Tim Sherwoord has actually confessed that Tel would be better off joining Tottenham than a club like Arsenal, suggesting that the Bayern youngster made a mistake rejecting Spurs.

Sherwood was speaking on Sky Sports and said that Tel would have a much better chance of minutes under Ange Postecoglou were he to head to Spurs, saying he might have not originally fancied the move given the club’s league position.

Initially speaking about Arsenal’s late attempts to sign a striker, Sherwood said: “It makes no sense to go and find someone just for the sake of it.

“If it is going to be Tel, nobody else has taken him. Perhaps he didn’t fancy Tottenham, because they are towards the bottom of the league.

“If I was the boy and I wanted to play in the Premier League, I would go to Tottenham. He has got more chance of playing.

“Saying that, would he play ahead of Son on the left or Solanke down the middle? I don’t think he would.

“So that’s not going to make too much difference, he’s a development player, so it’s not going to make difference to them [Arsenal].

“For them to go and sign someone who is going to make a difference is impossible for them to do.

“If they [Liverpool] win their game in hand, nine points, it’s pretty much done.

“Liverpool have lost one game all season, I don’t think them losing three or four and even then Arsenal would have to win all their games.”

Tottenham chasing two England internationals

Whilst they are not strikers, Tottenham are said to be interested in both Marc Guehi and Angel Gomes right now.

Tottenham had a bid rejected for Guehi, who currently seems unlikely to leave Crystal Palace on deadline day.

In terms of Gomes, the midfielder has decided to leave Ligue 1 once his contract expires in the summer.

Tottenham could sign Gomes for free, a deal which Levy is thought to be very interested in.

A busy few days for Spurs, who might not be done in the transfer market just yet.

Devastating injury update on Radu Dragusin given as Tottenham fear the worst

Tottenham Hotspur are fearing the worst about Radu Dragusin’s injury which the defender suffered in their 3-0 win over Elfsborg.

Dragusin suffered a bad knee injury last week as he awkwardly twisted his knee which forced him off in their final Europa League group stage clash.

Tottenham’s centre-backs have been very unfortunate with injuries this season with Cristian Romero still sidelined whilst Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies have only just returned.

Spurs have just signed Kevin Danso from Lens which will ease the pressure on their current options, however, they remain in the market for one more defender.

Tottenham fear Radu Dragusin’s season might be over

Tottenham fear that Radu Dragusin’s season might be over after suffering a knee injury against Elfsborg, according to the Evening Standard.

The Romanian international is due to visit a specialist on Monday to learn the full extent of the injury but the North London club are expecting the worst-case scenario.

The £25m defender has been thrust into the team over recent months with both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have spent the majority of that time sidelined.

The 23-year-old has been partnered in central defence by Ben Davies and even teenage midfielder Archie Gray which has proven to be a challenge for him.

But now, he looks set to miss the remainder of the campaign and Tottenham have a few hours to react to the lose of the former Serie A player.

Tottenham make club-record offer for Marc Guehi

Marc Guehi has ruled out a move away from Crystal Palace today after Tottenham had a club-record offer rejected for the defender, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

TBR Football understands that Palace do not want to sell Guehi and the player is not pushing to leave Selhurst Park on deadline day.

Spurs’ offer for the 24-year-old is believed to be around £70 million which was rejected out of hand by the South London club.

England star who Daniel Levy wants to sign for Tottenham has just decided to leave his club in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur are still pushing to strengthen the options available to Ange Postecoglou before the end of deadline day.

Kevin Danso arrived as Tottenham’s third January signing on Sunday, however, following news that Radu Dragusin could miss the rest of the season owing to injury, Spurs might not be done just yet.

Tottenham launched a bid for Marc Guehi, who is expected to leave Crystal Palace within the next six months or so.

Guehi would arguably be an upgrade on all of Spurs’ current options at the back, even considering Micky van de Ven’s quality.

And perhaps news of a huge bid for Guehi suggests that Tottenham might fear losing Cristian Romero to Real Madrid in the future.

Angel Gomes has decided to leave Lille amid interest from Tottenham

Aside from Guehi, Tottenham are also interested in Angel Gomes who recently began his England career under Lee Carsley.

The former Manchester United man is currently playing his football for Lille in Ligue 1, but according to journalist Mike McGrath, he won’t be for too much longer.

Gomes has decided to leave Lille as a free agent in the summer when his contract expires, which is said to interest Tottenham and West Ham United in particular.

Daniel Levy has been pushing to sign Gomes, and his task might now be a bit easier following the 24-year-old’s decision.

Taking to X, McGrath said: “England midfielder Angel Gomes will stay at Lille for the rest of the campaign ahead of move as a free agent in the summer.

“The 24yr-old ex-MUFC player has host of Premier League clubs incl Tottenham + West Ham wanting him at end of contract.”

Gomes will stay at Lille until the summer and then leave for free

Perhaps Tottenham may have liked to have recruited Gomes mid-season in an ideal world, but the midfielder will stay put in Lille, where he has made a ton of progress.

Gomes was originally a number 10 when he came through at Old Trafford, but the Englishman now plays his football in a much deeper role, dictating play in midfield.

In truth, Gomes would be well suited to both Postecoglou and Graham Potter’s style of football given his ability on the ball, a midfielder who defies his diminutive stature to impress in the middle.

TBR Football recently shared that West Ham had offered Gomes a contract which might in turn accelerate Tottenham’s own efforts.

Gomes is now free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs in the Premier League, a player who arguably has unfinished business in England.

What Marc Guehi has said about Tottenham as Spurs try to sign Crystal Palace star in club record deal

Tottenham are trying to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace before the 11pm transfer deadline.

Spurs pinched Kevin Danso from Wolves in a late hijack on Saturday night – although Ange Postecoglou wants another defender to help Tottenham rise away from 14th in the Premier League.

As a result, Tottenham bid £70m for Guehi on the morning of transfer deadline day – an offer Crystal Palace have rejected – although Spurs are still trying to make the deal happen.

On that note, let’s take a look at what Marc Guehi said about Tottenham earlier this season.

Marc Guehi views Tottenham as a “good” side

After Crystal Palace beat Tottenham 1-0 back in October, the man from Abidjan was complimentary of the north Londoners.

Guehi told the BBC: “It is important to be brave against a good Spurs team.”

The Crystal Palace captain also spent some time engaging with Postecoglou – shaking the Australian’s hand.

Harry Kane has also previously praised the 24-year-old after Gareth Southgate called him into the England squad, saying: “Marc and Tyrick (Mitchell) have come in and settled well. It is really good for the squad. It is good to have young players coming through and we are excited to see them.”

Chelsea would benefit financially if Spurs sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace

If Tottenham end up convincing Crystal Palace to sell Guehi before the 11pm transfer deadline, Chelsea would net millions of pounds.

The Blues sold the centre-back to Crystal Palace in an £18m deal back in July 2021, in which a 20% sell-on clause was agreed.

Therefore, say Tottenham were to agree an £80m fee – on the basis of £70m already being rejected – Chelsea would bank a whopping £16m.

Chelsea could still be involved in Tottenham’s deadline day experience regardless.

Tottenham have made late bid to sign £75m England international but it’s been rejected

Although Kevin Danso arrived at Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend, Daniel Levy is still very keen to sign another centre-back given the injury to Radu Dragusin.

Tottenham were excellent against Brentford on the road on Sunday, a 2-0 win which was underlined by a strong defensive performance.

With Danso not available yet, having only signed on the day of the game, it was Ben Davies who partnered Archie Gray at the back, a partnership fans in N17 would have never envisioned at the start of the season.

But to their credit, Davies and Gray were superb, as were the full-backs alongside them.

However, it’s surely unsustainable for Postecoglou to keep fielding players out of position at centre-back, hence Levy’s desire to find another centre-back before the transfer deadline.

Tottenham sent a late offer for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi

It’s well known by this point that Tottenham want Axel Disasi, even if he isn’t too keen on a move to north London.

But Fabrizio Romano’s update that Spurs submitted a late bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi over the past 48 hours is significant.

Tottenham have been interested in Guehi in the past, and judging by Romano’s update it would seem as if the club did attempt a stunning late move for the defender, even if their bid was rejected.

Newcastle United were quoted £75m for Guehi when they tabled their interest in the summer, a centre-back who is now a regular starter for England.

Posting his news on X, Romano wrote: “Tottenham keep trying for Axel Disasi after loan fee agreed with Chelsea as revealed yesterday, no green light yet from player.

“Spurs also made a late bid for Marc Guehi in last 48h as top target but Palace rejected, will now run to summer; out of contract in June 2026.”

Daniel Levy needs to back Ange Postecoglou

Frustrating if not exciting news for Tottenham fans, who will be happy to see that Levy was willing to spend big, but also disappointed that negotiations seemingly ended very quickly.

Of course, if Tottenham were able to land a player of Guehi’s stature, it would be interesting to see how Postecoglou set up his team when all were fit.

It seems unlikely that a centre-back pairing of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven would be disrupted, but at the same time, Guehi wouldn’t join any club to sit on the bench.

In fairness, Spurs’ first-choice duo haven’t been available too often, stressing the need for another signing to come in.

An important 12 hours or so for Tottenham, who need to continue to back Postecoglou, especially after some strong signs against Brentford.

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer give their opinions on Djed Spence’s performance for Tottenham against Brentford

Djed Spence delivered another excellent performance for Tottenham Hotspur in their much needed 2-0 win over Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side stopped their rot in the Premier League, earning a rare clean sheet away from home at a ground where so many good teams have lost this season.

Despite fielding a centre-back pairing of Archie Gray and Ben Davies, Tottenham were resolute at the back, and new signing Kevin Danso would have been pleased with what he saw.

In addition to Gray and Davies, Spurs’ full-backs were also superb too, both Pedro Porro and Spence looked determined to keep Brentford’s talented attack out.

James Maddison loved Spence’s performance, who hardly gave Bryan Mbeumo a sniff out wide, one of the most difficult wingers to face in the Premier League.

Djed Spence sends another clear message to Ange Postecoglou

That being said, both Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer delivered their verdicts on Spence’s performance on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast following Spurs’ 2-0 win.

Lineker started that chat, even reminiscing about a run in he recently had with Spence’s family before his Tottenham career turned around.

Lineker said: “I thought Djed Spence was terrific, excellent performance.

Shearer replied: “Really good.”

Lineker: “It was actually on the tube about two, three months ago. There was a woman and looked like a daughter, and it was a daughter in the end, sitting opposite me with Tottenham scarves on.

“And she said, I’m going to actually, we’re going to Tottenham, my son might be playing.

“And it was Djed Spence’s mother. Mother and sister, I believe.”

Shearer: “Well I thought he was a man of the match, thought he was absolutely outstanding.

“Yeah, so I watched that game and he didn’t do too many things wrong, if any at all. So he was superb.”

Djed Spence will need to repeat is Brentford performance against Mohamed Salah

Of course, Spence is currently putting together a strong case for remaining in Tottenham’s eleven even when Destiny Udogie is back fit.

The £13m defender has completely turned his career around in N17, a player who Postecoglou may not have even given another chance were it not for the club’s injury crisis.

But Spence is now impressing in an attacking and defensive capacity, the best levels he’s ever shown in the Premier League.

And it speaks volumes that the full-back will now be an automatic pick for Spurs’ huge tie with Liverpool on Thursday in the second-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is personally a ‘big admirer’ of Premier League winger who plays like Bukayo Saka

Tottenham Hotspur are still active on the transfer market for reinforcements in attack.

The North Londoners have had so many injury issues this season. The problems in defence have cost them the most, but they have been without quite a few of their attackers as well.

Dominic Solanke is currently out injured, as are the likes of Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner and James Maddison.

That is why Ange Postecoglou would like to sign a new attacker in this window, and the Spurs boss is said to be a fan of one Premier League player.

Ange Postecoglou is a ‘big admirer’ of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo is having a phenomenal season for Brentford.

The Cameroon international has scored 14 goals and provided three assists for the Bees in 24 Premier League appearances this season, which is an excellent return.

A number of Premier League clubs like Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Mbeumo over the last few months.

Now, Alasdair Gold has revealed on Football London that Tottenham boss Postecoglou is a ‘big admirer’ of the Bees right winger too.

However, it has been claimed that ‘Brentford have batted away speculation that they will allow the 25-year-old to go anywhere’ in this window.

There will be a long queue of suitors for the attacker in the summer – even Thierry Henry thinks Mbeumo will leave Brentford for a bigger club.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham will try their luck – either ambitiously on deadline day or in the summer.

Tottenham target Mbeumo has been compared to two superstars

Mbeumo’s stock has shot up this season and rightly so.

The Cameroonian has been Brentford’s best player and is among the most effective attackers in the Premier League.

Martin Keown knows a thing or two about great forwards having played with the likes of Thierry Henry, Ian Wright and Nicolas Anelka, and the pundit compared Mbeumo to Arsenal star Bukayo Saka and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Speaking on TNT Sports (January 1, 2025, 5:05 pm), Keown said: “I mean look, he’s doing his work and this looks like Salah, doesn’t it? Like Saka, he’s in that kind of mould.

“These wide-area strikers now, they’re not central, they’re out on the wing with great pace about him and I think he’s probably the most underrated player in the Premier League.”

Tottenham open to loaning out youngster who Jermain Defoe claims is ‘unbelievable’

Tottenham Hotspur are open to sending several youngsters out on loan on transfer deadline day in search of regular first-team football.

Tottenham will be hoping to have a busy transfer deadline day in the way of incoming, however, they could also be busy in terms of departures.

With the Europa League and FA Cup now in the business stages, opportunities are expected to be sparse for the North London club’s younger players.

So, any loan offers that arrive for some of their younger players will be considered in the final hours of the January transfer window.

Tottenham open to sending Tyrese Hall and Damola Ajayi out on loan

Tottenham are open to sending Tyrese Hall and Damola Ajayi out on loan should offers arrive, according to Football.London.

Hall is highly rated at the North London club having played a key role in them winning the Premier League 2 title last season.

The 19-year-old has been subject to interest from Premier League side Southampton which could potentially aid Spurs’ move for Tyler Dibling.

Former academy coach Jermain Defoe has spoken very highly of Hall having labelled him as ‘unbelievable’ and one of the best players his age in the country.

However, Ange Postecoglou is yet to hand him any first-team minutes this season so he has been stuck playing Under-21 football.

Could Dane Scarlett remain at Tottenham on deadline day?

Remarkably, Dane Scarlett looks set to remain at Tottenham beyond transfer deadline day having been initially recalled from Oxford United to be sent out on loan elsewhere.

The striker’s minutes had started to try up at the Championship club so he was recalled to find a new club, but he has now come off the bench in the club’s last two matches.

Given Dominic Solanke’s knee injury, Tottenham may now look to keep Scarlett until the end of the season to avoid leaving themselves short up front.

Tottenham have made phone call to Aston Villa to ask about their £25m star

Description

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa could be involved in a transfer on deadline day.

The two Premier League clubs are expected to be active on Monday, but nobody really thought that there would be a transfer between the two clubs.

However, Tottenham are in desperate need of reinforcements, and after Mathys Tel, Randal Kolo Muani and even Evan Ferguson rejected Spurs, they are exploring other options.

Fabrizio Romano has an update for Spurs fans on that front.

Tottenham have enquired about signing Leon Bailey from Aston Villa but there’s a problem

Tottenham are short of options in attack due to injuries.

A new striker should be the priority, but Spurs could do with strengthening in the wide areas too – especially on the right wing.

Dejan Kulusevski has proved that he is better through the middle now, and we think a left-footed right-winger can make a big difference.

Tyler Dibling has been linked with a move to Tottenham, but the youngster will cost a lot of money to sign from Southampton on deadline day.

So, Spurs have turned to an alternative option.

Romano has revealed that Tottenham, along with Manchester United, called Aston Villa and asked to be kept informed of Leon Bailey‘s situation.

However, as things stand, Villa are not open to letting the winger they signed for £25 million (BBC) leave the club.

Romano said in a video on his YouTube channel: “What I can tell you is that Man United and Tottenham, both clubs called to be informed on Bailey.

“But again, it depends on Aston Villa and at the moment, there are still no open doors. We will see on deadline day what’s going to happen on that one.”

Leon Bailey’s stats for Aston Villa

Bailey was a star in the Bundesliga at Bayer Leverkusen before he joined Aston Villa.

The Jamaican is a fantastic player. He is quick, a brilliant dribbler and he has the ability to score goals and provide assists too. However, he hasn’t always been a regular at Villa.

In a more attacking system like at Tottenham, Bailey will have more space to go forward, and he could become a star again under Ange Postecoglou.

However, Spurs don’t have a lot of time left to convince Villa – they will have to hurry up if they want to get this deal over the line before the window shuts.
