Description

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping their options open as they struggle to reach an agreement with Nottingham Forest for Morgan Gibbs-White.

Tottenham paid Gibbs-White’s release clause, but Nottingham Forest are furious as they believe the player’s £60m clause should have been confidential.

There is now set to be a delay over Spurs’ move for the midfielder, and in the meantime, another Premier League player is being monitored.

Thomas Frank’s assistant coach, Justin Cochrane, will be able to give the Spurs boss and the club all the intel on the player, having previously coached him.

Tottenham monitoring Man United winger Alejandro Garnacho

Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs monitoring Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, according to the Daily Mail.

Aston Villa are also keen on the Argentine, and Chelsea have also been keeping tabs on the Manchester United player.

TBR Football exclusively revealed on Monday that Chelsea have reignited talks for Garnacho after agreeing to sell Noni Madueke to Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Tottenham asked about Garnacho in January, as reported by TBR Football, before eventually opting to sign Mathys Tel on loan.

The 21-year-old has been told to train away from the main United squad since making his return to Carrington last week.

The Red Devils did value their academy graduate at £70 million, but that would likely need to be reduced if they hope to offload him this summer.

He still managed an impressive campaign in terms of goal involvements last season, netting 11 times and getting a further ten assists.

Justin Cochrane has already coached Alejandro Garnacho at Man United

Cochrane has already coached Garnacho during his time at Manchester United back in 2021.

Cochrane was head of player development at Old Trafford before he returned to London to join Frank’s coaching staff at Brentford.

Speaking back in 2024, Cochrane revealed: “In 2021, I joined Manchester United and I was the head of player development there.

“So I moved my family from North London up to Manchester, I’ve got three sons. There’s me with one of the players, Alejandro Garnacho, when he was in the youth team.”

So if Spurs do decide to move for the Argentine attacker, the North London club and their new manager will be well briefed on him, given Cochrane’s knowledge.

Thomas Frank thinks he’s found the ‘perfect’ signing for his Tottenham team now - TBR Football
Description

Tottenham Hotspur need to bounce back after what was a poor Premier League season last time around.

Indeed, Tottenham recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish last season as they finished 17th in the table, just one spot above the relegation zone.

However, after winning the Europa League, Tottenham have reason to be excited for this upcoming campaign under a new manager.

Thomas Frank has already been putting his players through their paces, while some new signings have arrived.

Mohammed Kudus has already impressed in training, while another attacking-midfield addition is being targeted.

Tottenham want to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, but a deal is proving complicated after Nottingham Forest made a complaint about Spurs’ approach last week.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Tottenham’s interest in Gibbs-White, and he says Thomas Frank believes Gibbs-White is the perfect player for his system.

“Privately, he was a player we’ve spoken about in the past about Spurs liking him. Thomas Frank wanted him at Brentford years back when he was at Wolves. He’s a player he believes is perfect for his set-up. Creativity, number 10, but also high energy and an approach made sense for all parties.”

How Tottenham feel about Nottingham Forest complaint

Gold would go on to speak about Nottingham Forest’s complaint about Spurs’ approach for Gibbs-White.

The journalist says that Tottenham believe they haven’t done anything wrong, while he noted again that the player hasn’t signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest.

“So kind of we’re going to have to officially wait for this to run its course. What that course is, we shall find out because privately Spurs are believed to feel they’ve done nothing wrong. They still want to sign the player,” Gold said.

“I mean, what does Morgan Gibbs-White want to do? Well, certainly from what we understand, he’s been turning down attempts from Forest for a fair few months to talk about a new contract. They want to give him a big new contract, make him one of, if not the top earner at the club with either removal of this release clause or a renegotiation of it.

“But he has thus far not entertained such talks.”

Tottenham still want Gibbs-White, and a deal could still end up happening, but, for now, things are on hold as Nottingham Forest look to block the England international from leaving the City Ground.

This is a situation that could run for a little while yet, and it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.

Tottenham fans want Richarlison sold immediately after learning the figure they could get from his sale

Tottenham fans want Richarlison sold immediately after learning the figure they could get from his sale - TBR Football
Description

Richarlison could be one of the players Thomas Frank opts to sell at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Thomas Frank has previously hailed Richarlison, calling him ‘very good’ back in 2023 after he was tasked with replacing Harry Kane, who’d just joined Bayern Munich.

But now, the Danish manager could well opt to sell the Brazilian, and especially so given the figures being mooted for the attacker.

Spurs fans have also been having their say on the matter, and many would be eager to offload him after learning Daniel Levy’s asking price.

Tottenham fans would jump at the prospect of getting £55m for Richarlison

Tottenham Hotspur fans would sell Richarlison in a heartbeat if Palmeiras were to offer them the fee that their chairman is currently demanding for him.

Levy wants £55m for Richarlison, with Brazilian club Palmeiras trying to convince the forward to return to Brazil this summer.

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has held talks with the 28-year-old over a move to Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A.

Despite Spurs’ high valuation, the Brazilian club are not being deterred from attempting to do a deal, given their recent financial gain from the Club World Cup.

The Brazilian club are believed to have earned around £29m for their involvement in the tournament, according to BBC Sport.

They could now use those funds, plus what they get from the sale of Richard Rios, to fund their bid to sign Spurs number nine. Tottenham fans have taken to X to share their thoughts on the matter.

One fan hailed the impact of the Club World Cup: “I take back everything I said about the CWC. Brilliant competition.”

Another said: “I would do anything to sell him at that figure, genuinely one of the least reliable players in the squad and is semi-effective at best when healthy.”

There was further disbelief at the figure mentioned: “£55m for Richarlison??? I’ll drive him to the airport myself.”

Finally, another supporter claimed: “Love Richy to pieces, but if this number is remotely true, don’t even hesitate to sell him.”

If there is any chance of the North London club getting that sort of figure for the former Everton striker, they should be accepting it straight away.

The player’s injury record has been quite shocking since he arrived in the capital, having had ten different issues and missed a total of 62 matches since the start of the 2022/23 season.

Richarlison won’t get much game time at Tottenham

Richarlison should be strongly considering a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, considering Spurs’ list of attacking options.

The Lilywhites have just added Mohammed Kudus to the mix and are hoping to also sign Morgan Gibbs-White.

Tottenham are targeting a move for Yoane Wissa, and could move for another attacker if they fail to sign the Brentford forward.

Ahead of the World Cup in the summer of 2026, the Brazilian cannot afford to be playing second choice behind Dominic Solanke.

If he has any hope of becoming Carlo Ancelotti’s number nine next summer, he needs to be playing consistently.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s deal for Morgan Gibbs-White has hit a serious issue, which has left Nottingham Forest furious.

Tottenham triggered Gibbs-White’s release clause and the player looked set to undergo a medical at Hotspur Way last week.

However, this enraged Evangelos Marinakis, who blocked Gibbs-White’s move, and currently, the deal has been brought to a standstill.

Spurs fans are now patiently waiting for updates on the situation, and Fabrizio Romano has just revealed how confident the North London club are that a deal will eventually get done.

Tottenham remain intent on signing Morgan Gibbs-White

Tottenham Hotspur remain intent on signing Morgan Gibbs-White and are confident that he will eventually be signed, Romano has claimed.

Spurs will need to hold direct talks with Forest to find a solution for the situation, as they remain eager to sign the player for Thomas Frank.

Ideally, the Lilywhites wanted moves for Mohammed Kudus and the England international wrapped up quickly, however, the latter’s arrival has now been delayed.

Romano told GiveMeSport: “Nottingham Forest are not happy with the approach to the player, they mentioned that it is not something they expected from Tottenham. So the situation is quite tense between the two clubs.

“Now, Tottenham remain confident of their chances to sign the player. They need to discuss directly with Nottingham Forest to find a solution.

“It, of course, changes the timing of the deal. For Tottenham, it was the perfect plan to sign Kudus and Gibbs-White in 24/48 hours; now it’s going to take a bit longer.

“But they remain intent on signing the player, and that remains their plan. So let’s see how it continues on the legal side, but for sure Tottenham still want Morgan Gibbs-White.”

As TBR Football exclusively revealed on Monday, Gibbs-White told Forest he wants to join Tottenham after returning to the Nigel Doughty Academy.

Gibbs-White was back in training with Forest this week as he looks to try and leave the Midlands club on good terms.

But the club captain appears to just be waiting for the situation to be resolved so he can complete his move to North London.

Tottenham successfully sold their project to Gibbs-White, unlike Manchester City, who had an approach for the player rebuffed earlier this summer.

Tottenham will want Morgan Gibbs-White for pre-season tour

Frank will be hoping to have Gibbs-White travelling with the team for their tour of Asia, which starts on July 31 against Arsenal.

Spurs are due to play two matches in England before jetting off to Hong Kong to face the Gunners in the first North London derby abroad.

The Lilywhites face Reading on July 19 and then Luton Town on July 26, so they will travel just after that, giving them about a week and a half to sign the player.

The 25-year-old will already be well familiar with several of Spurs’ players, most notably James Maddison and Brennan Johnson.

Description

Heung-min Son remains a Tottenham Hotspur player for now and Thomas Frank’s stance over the 33-year-old has been revealed.

The Tottenham Hotspur legend created history last season as he became the first Spurs captain since Ledley King in 2008 to lift a trophy for the club.

The South Korean captain scored ten goals and got a further 11 assists, despite his overall performance showing signs of dipping.

Son’s future at Spurs has been up for debate for quite some time now, but the new Tottenham manager has already made up his mind over the attacker.

Thomas Frank will continue to rely on Son Heung-min’s leadership

Thomas Frank is ready to continue relying on Son Heung-min’s leadership at Tottenham, according to Football Asian.

The Danish manager is understood to fully respect his captain and is open to keeping him in the squad for next season.

Frank has made it clear to Daniel Levy that he wants the attacker to remain in North London, and the Spurs chairman is also ready to respect the player’s desire to stay.

Son is expected to have a reduced playing role next season, especially with the likes of Mathys Tel, Mikey Moore and Richarlison competing for a spot on the left.

TBR Football revealed that Son had held talks with LAFC about a move away, but those discussions don’t seem to have progressed very far.

Levy wanted £55m to sell Son, which is rather unrealistic for a player who’s just turned 33, but his commercial value to Spurs remains pretty high.

Now, the South Korean icon is expected to stay for another season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Champions League football back on the menu.

Mathys Tel could keep Son Heung-min out of the team at Tottenham

Tottenham signed Mathys Tel for £30m this summer after Frank confirmed his desire to bring the Frenchman to North London.

Frank was keen to work with Tel at Tottenham, and there is a sense that the Dane could help to get the best out of the attacker.

Tel impressed for France U-21 at the European Championships in June, especially his display against Denmark, as he scored the winning goal.

The 51-year-old has already improved players like Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa at Brentford.

Tel is very clearly a talented player and it will be an exciting prospect to see Frank and his staff try to get the best out of him.

Thomas Frank will be buzzing to coach the 'outstanding' teenager who's just returned to Tottenham training - TBR Football
Description

Thomas Frank is getting Tottenham Hotspur players back from the summer break and one of his best young talents has just returned to Hotspur Way.

Thomas Frank is close to taking charge of his first game for the North London club as they face Reading on Saturday.

The Danish coach will have had a few weeks now to work with his new group of players, and he will be so excited to see some of the talent at his disposal.

The Lilywhites have some top senior players whom Frank will be buzzing to work with, but also some exciting youngsters who could have so much scope for development.

Mikey Moore returns to Tottenham training after England U-19 duty

Mikey Moore returned to Tottenham Hotspur training on Tuesday after England U-19 duty, and what was a minor injury scare, Alasdair Gold has revealed.

The teenager suffered an ankle injury against Norway but managed to complete the rest of the match before being left out of the squad in the next game.

The young Three Lions team had a disappointing Euro U-19 championships as they crashed out of the competition in the group stage.

Moore, who has been called ‘outstanding’, was handed the armband for the first match and even got his name on the scoresheet.

But the attacker has now returned to Hotspur Way following an extended summer break and he will be raring to go.

Gold told his YouTube channel: “Mikey Moore back in training. He’s part of that last group back in training, the ones who were with the Under-21 and Under-19 European Championships.

“Mikey went out with England in the group stages, he picked up an ankle injury, he was on the bench for the final group game, but I think it was only a case of use him in case of an emergency.

“He looked fine from the footage I saw of him, he was in a rondo with the likes of Richarlison, Ben Davies, Vuskovic, Kevin Danso, Jamie Donley, Yves Bissouma – so it was quite a rough and tumble rondo.”

Frank should be delighted with the opportunity to coach the talented youngster, who the North London club have such high hopes about.

The appointment of Stuart Lewis could help Moore a lot, with the former U-18 coach being made First Team Academy Transition Coach.

Moore flourished under Lewis during his time in the academy, as he netted 19 goals and got 13 assists in 24 matches.

Mohammed Kudus looks sharp in Tottenham training

Mohammed Kudus was looking sharp in his first Tottenham training session in N17.

The winger will be looking to make his first appearance for the club against Reading on the weekend.

Kudus, who joined Tottenham for £55m, will be competing with Moore for a place on the right wing, although the 17-year-old is better suited on the left.

Moore will just be slightly cautious over how many minutes he will get next season, given how many wingers Spurs now have in their squad.

£35m Tottenham player left on the floor exhausted after Thomas Frank’s pre-season training drill - TBR Football
Description

Thomas Frank isn’t wasting any time at all in making his mark at Tottenham in pre-season.

Indeed, Frank has arrived at Spurs to replace Ange Postecoglou, and he’s already getting to work in terms of whipping his team into shape.

Frank has put his team through a number of gruelling training drills already. Djed Spence looked exhausted last week after a running drill, and now, another Spurs star has suffered a similar fate.

Goal filmed a TikTok video from Spurs’ pre-season camp, and during that video, a number of Tottenham players appeared to be really struggling with Frank’s rigorous training drills.

Micky van de Ven left in a heap after Tottenham training drill

Goal captured some very interesting footage filming Spurs players before and after their running drill in training.

As you can imagine, many Spurs players were all smiles before the drill, but once it had finished, they could barely talk, and, in some cases, they could barely stand.

Micky van de Ven was one player who appeared to be really struggling after this drill as he was left on the floor gasping for breath.

Meanwhile, Yves Bissouma also dropped to his back after completing this drill, while Brennan Johnson certainly needed a minute or two to catch his breath.

Thomas Frank is certainly putting his players through their paces, and Spurs could be one of the fittest teams in the league under Frank.

Micky van de Ven’s injury history

Van de Ven appeared to be seriously struggling in pre-season, and, to be fair, it’s not hard to understand why.

Indeed, the Dutch defender hasn’t been able to get to full fitness and sharpness over the past 12 months as he’s been plagued by serious injury problems.

Of course, Van de Ven is still incredibly fit, but when you’re so stop-start, a pre-season regime is going to take a lot out of you.

Fingers crossed Van de Ven can put these injury problems behind him going forwards and this work under Frank should be able to lay a base foundation of fitness that

Club are now in 'direct' talks with Tottenham to sign their 'unbelievable' player, Daniel Levy wants £55m - TBR Football
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have had an eventful summer so far.

Despite winning the Europa League, a decision was made to sack Ange Postecoglou. Thomas Frank replaced him, and the signings of Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus have since been completed.

Tottenham’s move for Morgan Gibbs-White has been delayed after Nottingham Forest issued a legal notice to the North Londoners. It remains to be seen what will happen there.

While that is going on, news from Brazil has revealed that Tottenham have been in talks over the sale of one of their big-money signings.

Tottenham have been in talks to sell Richarlison for two weeks

Richarlison joined Tottenham for £60 million in the summer of 2022.

The Brazilian was a brilliant player at Everton, but for one reason or another, he just hasn’t been able to live up to his price tag in North London.

TBR Football revealed back in April that Tottenham are actively trying to sell Richarlison and could even entertain a loan move.

Everton have been linked with Richarlison, but Brazilian journalist Fabricio Lopes has revealed that Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has been in talks to sign him.

Lopes told Terra: “I got the information that Leila Pereira contacted Tottenham to try to hire Richarlison. She is personally talking and convincing the athlete to go to Palmeiras for about two weeks”

The outlet further reveals that Tottenham, who are headed by Daniel Levy, have demanded £55 million for their star attacker.

Pereira, who Terra says has been in ‘direct’ contact with Richarlison and Spurs, has not been put off by such a high fee, and she is thinking of using a part of Palmeiras’ Club World Cup earnings to finance the deal.

Thomas Frank could save Richarlison’s career

Richarlison is still only 28 years old, and he is capable of playing at the highest level.

Postecoglou trusted the Brazilian more often than not, and it’s now up to Frank to decide what he would like to do with Richarlison.

We think the new Tottenham boss could give him an opportunity.

That’s because, back in 2023, Frank predicted that Richarlison would score a lot of goals for Tottenham and called him a ‘very good’ player.

Spurs will play their first game of pre-season against Reading on Saturday. It will be interesting to see if Richarlison will get some minutes.

The club Nottingham Forest players expected Morgan Gibbs-White to join before Tottenham, concerns shared - TBR Football
Description

Morgan Gibbs-White could join Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but a number of Nottingham Forest players privately expected him to move somewhere else.

Tottenham paid Morgan Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause last week, but issues over a potential deal have now emerged.

Gibbs-White told Evangelos Marinakis he wants to join Spurs, but Nottingham Forest have taken a move off the table until they find out how the Lilywhites were made aware of his release clause.

He has since returned to training this week and doesn’t want to leave Forest on bad terms.

Now, an insight into how Nuno Espirito Santo’s players feel about the Englishman securing an exit has been shared.

Morgan Gibbs-White was expected to join another Premier League club before Tottenham

Forest have offered Gibbs-White a new contract, but the player has shown little interest in negotiating.

Transfer interest in the midfielder has been expected for some time, including from some players at the club.

At the end of the 2024/25 season, according to the Daily Mail, there was a belief among many in the squad that Gibbs-White would be moving to Manchester City this summer.

There was hope that a potential move to the Etihad would be concluded quickly so it would not become a distraction – that, of course, did not happen.

Man City instead moved for other targets, snapping up Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders, with there understood to have been genuine surprise the Sky Blues did not end up firming up their interest in the Tottenham target or Anthony Elanga, who has since joined Newcastle United.

Speaking of Elanga, his departure from the City Ground is thought to have caused some concern within the Forest squad.

Nottingham Forest players concerned amid Anthony Elanga exit

Newcastle completed the signing of Elanga last week, paying a reported fee of around £55m for the winger.

Rio Ferdinand praised the transfer as ‘a great bit of business’, in part due to the sell-on clause Manchester United had on the player.

But his move to Newcastle is understood to have played a role in concerns Forest stars have about next season.

There is a worry that Forest will struggle to replicate their playing style from 2024/25 in the forthcoming campaign, in part due to losing Elanga’s pace out wide, the report from the Mail added.

Tottenham told whether Morgan Gibbs-White move could be hijacked amid Nottingham Forest standoff - TBR Football
Description

TBR Football understands that Tottenham Hotspur needn’t worry about missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White because of another club hijacking the deal.

As TBR Football exclusively revealed, Gibbs-White wants to join Tottenham and has made that clear to Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

However, after Tottenham paid Gibbs-White’s release clause, Forest have become furious as they claim the £60m clause should not have been made known.

Marinakis is furious at the Gibbs-White situation, and as it stands, the move for the 25-year-old to join Spurs has been put on hold.

The North London club remain eager to sign the Forest captain, and will be growing tetchy in case another club attempts to swoop in amid the impasse.

Sources: Morgan Gibbs-White rebuffed Manchester City interest

Morgan Gibbs-White rebuffed interest from Manchester City and made it clear that he wants to join Tottenham Hotspur, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm.

The North London club managed to successfully pitch their project to the player, unlike City, whom he opted to turn down.

Gibbs-White returned to Forest training on Monday and does not want to sour his relationship with the club any further by going on strike.

For now, the England international has to sit tight and wait for the situation to get resolved, with the hope he can make the move to N17.

Speaking exclusively to TBR Football about whether another club could hijack Tottenham’s move, Bailey said: “No is the answer. He’s expressed his desire to go to Tottenham. There’s a reason that he’s already rebuffed interest from elsewhere, including Manchester City.

“Newcastle and Liverpool had looked at him briefly like they were aware of his situation, as all the big teams were completely aware of him, but he’s made it clear he wants to go to Tottenham.

When asked about why he might have rejected City, Bailey added: “He obviously views Tottenham as the better option. A lot is going on at City, a lot of ins and outs

“That’ll certainly come into his thinking. He needs to be playing every week at a top level. Is he going to do that at City? It’s a bit harder. Tottenham have sold him on the project, is my understanding.”

Morgan Gibbs-White could form brilliant partnership with Brennan Johnson

Gibbs-White could be reunited with his former Forest teammate Brennan Johnson if his move to Tottenham does eventually go through.

The attacking duo played a key role in helping the Midlands club to remain in the Premier League during their first season back in the top flight.

Gibbs-White claims his connection with Johnson is ‘good’, admitting: “We have a good relationship. I think it all started on the pitch, we built that connection, and it’s just followed off the pitch as well.”

Both players have also improved dramatically since then, with the Tottenham forward netting 18 goals last season and Forest’s captain managing ten assists in the Premier League.
