Eberechi Eze to Arsenal back on as £60m+ Tottenham Hotspur move stalls - TBR Football
Description

TBR Football understands that Arsenal are to rival Tottenham Hotspur in making a move for Eberechi Eze.

Tottenham have had Eze interest for some time now, with Thomas Frank keen on bolstering their attacking options in midfield after a failed Morgan Gibbs-White pursuit. Arsenal were seemingly out of the Eze race.

Eze is an Arsenal fan and was always keen to join the Gunners, but Andrea Berta so far has sought out other targets, with the likes of Rodrygo rumoured.

Now, it appears Arsenal are back in for Eze, with the Englishman’s preference most certainly the Emirates.

Sources: Arsenal join Tottenham in Eberechi Eze chase

Chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm to TBR Football the details of the Eberechi Eze news.

Bailey states: “Arsenal are really concerned by Havertz’ injury, and Mikel Arteta made it clear to Andrea Berta earlier this week that he believed they should consider re-entering the transfer market.

“Eze’s deal with Tottenham has been edging closer to completion in recent days, but it was delayed until Crystal Palace’s European clash on Thursday.

“Arsenal are now back in touch, they know the player’s dream move was Arsenal all along – and as we revealed earlier in the summer, he was excited by the move.

“Spurs are still there, but they have been informed that Arsenal have rekindled their interest.”

Arsenal are aware of Palace’s asking price of over £60million, and they are now talking about the makeup of a prospective deal.

Tottenham fans have big concerns about Mikey Moore's loan at Rangers after his Champions League debut - TBR Football
Description

Mikey Moore had a mixed evening on Tuesday as he made his Champions League debut, but Rangers were beaten at Ibrox.

Rangers now have a mountain to climb in terms of qualifying for the Champions League after losing 3-1 at home to Club Brugge.

The Gers were really poor at Ibrox as three goals in the first 20 minutes saw them three goals down and the tie looking dead already.

Danilo managed to pull one back for the Scottish giants in the second half, but they face a big test away in Belgium next week to get back into the tie.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee came on as a substitute in the defeat, and Spurs fans are just starting to raise a few concerns over the loan move.

Tottenham fans think Mikey Moore has made mistake joining Rangers

Tottenham fans are starting to fear that Mikey Moore may have made a mistake joining Rangers following their defeat to Club Brugge.

The 18-year-old started on the bench and was introduced with just 20 minutes left to play, despite Russell Martin’s team struggling for most of the match.

TBR Football feared that Moore faced strong competition for a spot on the left, and Djeidi Gassama looks to be a really good signing by Rangers.

The teenager was introduced on the right wing as he replaced Oliver Antman, a position where he looks less comfortable than on the left.

Over the weekend, Moore impressed on his Rangers debut as he managed to provide an assist in the team’s win over Alloa.

But after watching Rangers’ Champions League hopes crumble in Glasgow, Spurs fans took to X to question sending their talented youngster to Scotland.

One fan said: “Mikey Moore is gonna sit on the bench to Gassama for his entire loan spell. Recall him before it’s too late; this type of loan can destroy confidence.”

“Recall Mikey Moore honestly. No one except Gassama and Igamane wanted to play football with the ball on the floor. A proper poor team,” claimed another fan.

There were further question marks over the loan move for Moore, with another fan adding: “What is Russell Martin waiting for to bring on Mikey Moore? His team is down 3-1 and is close to another goal, and the freshness of the Tottenham footballer could provide the key to scoring.”

Finally, another fan claimed: “Such a bad loan destination for Mikey Moore. I said it when it was first said, a Championship club would have been so much better.”

Rangers face Brugge in the second leg next Wednesday as they bid to mount a comeback against the Belgian side at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

Mikey Moore on wanting to be “one of the best players in the world”

Speaking ahead of the match, Moore made the big claim that he wants to become “one of the best players in the world”.

The youngster has already expressed his delight at playing for a club like Rangers and he is excited to be playing in the biggest competitions.

Moore told the media: “I think it’s massive for me, I want to play in the biggest competitions and I want to be one of the best players in the world, hopefully.”

“I’ve signed a new contract with Spurs, but at the minute, I’m focused on playing here, I’m just buzzing some massive games at this football club.”

Pep Guardiola says Ange Postecoglou did something at Tottenham that will really help Spurs in the future

Pep Guardiola says Ange Postecoglou did something at Tottenham that will really help Spurs in the future - TBR Football
Description

Tottenham Hotspur made a controversial decision over the summer when they sacked Ange Postecoglou.

Indeed, after winning Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years, Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham and Thomas Frank has replaced him.

Frank has impressed at Spurs so far, but many believe Postecoglou’s sacking was unfair.

Speaking to Stan Sports, Pep Guardiola has now been discussing Ange Postecoglou’s time at Tottenham, and he says that even though he was sacked, he’s left a legacy at Tottenham that will help the club for a long time coming.

Ange Postecoglou has helped Tottenham

Guardiola has always been a fan of Postecoglou, and he continued to praise him here.

The Man City boss says that he always liked Postecoglou’s style of play, while he says that the Europa League win will break a barrier for Spurs that can help them in the future in terms of their mentality and ability to win things.

“The way he played alongside the amount of titles he won. The way his teams play, they always want to attack and be positive. When you have two teams like that it is a beautiful game,” Guardiola said of Postecoglou.

“I am pretty sure that the new generation of managers have more courage, they go to try to win, and when this happens football is nice.

“Ange’s teams always had that courage to do it. After what happened at Spurs, the injuries they had, the situation, I don’t know, I wasn’t there. It wasn’t a good season, but at the end they won silverware and maybe that helps to break that, break that barrier and maybe that can help in the future for Spurs, mentality wise.

“In the end he leaves something for the club, for the players, for the future.”

Ange Postecoglou’s record vs Pep Guardiola

Guardiola is clearly a fan of Postecoglou, and interestingly, these two have an intriguing record against one another.

Tottenham have been Manchester City’s bogey team for quite some time, and Postecoglou managed to continue that trend at Spurs, as he got the better of Guardiola on numerous occasions.

Guardiola won more than he lost against Postecoglou, but some of those wins were very tightly contested, while one of the losses was a notable battering – a 4-0 defeat at the Etihad last season.

Postecoglou had his flaws at Spurs, but you don’t earn praise from Guardiola unless you’re a very good coach.

After Eberechi Eze deal, Tottenham are 'working hard' to sell three players before the deadline - TBR Football
Description

TBR Football understands that Tottenham Hotspur are working hard to ensure they complete some more outgoings before the close of the transfer window.

Just 12 days remain in the summer transfer window, and Spurs have managed one permanent sale so far, which was their captain, Son Heung-min, joining LAFC.

Currently, Thomas Frank’s squad remains rather bloated and there are still further plans to bring in new additions, like Eberechi Eze.

Tottenham Hotspur are working hard to move their deadwood on and there remains a belief that they will eventually shift these players.

Sources: Tottenham working hard to sell Yves Bissouma, Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil

Tottenham are working hard to sell Yves Bissouma, Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil and are fully expecting all three to leave before the deadline, sources have told TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey.

Bissouma was left out of Tottenham’s UEFA Super Cup squad, with Frank having been left frustrated by the player’s lateness to training.

Fenerbahce had been showing an interest in Bissouma, but Jose Mourinho’s team are now focusing on the signing of Edson Alvarez from West Ham instead.

Spurs signed Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich earlier this summer, which has meant that they are well stocked in midfield, and the Malian international is certainly surplus to requirements.

Solomon could still end up at Leeds United this transfer window, with the winger having enjoyed a successful season at Elland Road in the Championship.

Last season, he netted ten goals and 12 assists in the second tier, including the goal which sealed Daniel Farke’s side the title on the final day.

Tottenham had been demanding £20m for Solomon, but with the window reaching its climax, that valuation will need to drop if they hope to offload him.

So far, Tottenham have made just £20m from Son’s move to the MLS, plus Marseille making Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s deal permanent for around £14m.

Tottenham close in on Eberechi Eze signing, but Savinho looks tricky

TBR Football understands that Tottenham are close to signing Eze in a deal set to be worth just in excess of £60m from Crystal Palace

The winger is very excited by the prospect of working under Frank in North London following talks with Spurs’ new manager.

Spurs are hoping to make another attacking signing, but their deal for Savinho looks to be off, with Pep Guardiola currently blocking the Brazilian’s move.

Manchester City had been open to selling the winger, but they are ready to bow to the demands of their manager and keep him at the Etihad Stadium.

Jamie O’Hara says he wants Tottenham to sell £60m player immediately, ‘get rid of him’ - TBR Football
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have a few big decisions to make in the final week of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, while Thomas Frank has reshaped his squad somewhat already, there’s still work to be done in terms of both incomings and outgoings.

Eberechi Eze could sign for Tottenham before the deadline, while there are also a few players who could be sold.

Manor Solomon’s future is up in the air, and speaking to Sky Sports, Jamie O’Hara has called for another Tottenham player to be sold before the deadline.

Jamie O’Hara wants Richarlison to be sold.

O’Hara was taking part in a challenge where he had to pick whether or not he’d keep or sell numerous Tottenham players.

The pundit was asked whether he’d keep Richarlison at this moment in time, and he made it very clear that he wants the £60m man sold.

“Go, get rid of him. He played alright in the Super Cup final, but I’m not convinced, I’ve never been convinced, go,” O’Hara said.

Who else would Jamie O’Hara sell?

O’Hara wants Richarlison to be sold, and the Brazilian isn’t the only casualty O’Hara called for here.

Indeed, the pundit picked out a number of Spurs players that he wants to get rid of this summer.

O’Hara took no prisoners here as he called for Radu Dragusin, Wilson Odobert and Ben Davies all to be sold as well.

Davies has been brilliant over the years for Tottenham but with his advancing years, it may be time to say goodbye.

Meanwhile, Dragusin and Odobert have had their injury issues as of late, so it is rather harsh to call for departures there, but, then again, you have to be ruthless if you want to kick on.

It will be interesting to see what moves Spurs make in the final weeks of this transfer window.

How Eberechi Eze really feels about joining Tottenham after Arsenal talks fell apart - TBR Football
Description

TBR Football understands that Eberechi Eze is very excited about the prospect of playing for Tottenham Hotspur following talks with Thomas Frank.

Tottenham Hotspur are close to reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace for Eze, worth just over £60 million.

TBR Football revealed last week that Tottenham had returned for the attacker after James Maddison’s knee injury, and Arsenal walked away from talks with Eze.

Spurs are now closing in on a deal to sign him, and the player is believed to be buzzing about the opportunity to play for the Lilywhites.

Exclusive: Eberechi Eze fully convinced by Tottenham project after Thomas Frank talks

Eberechi Eze was quickly convinced by Tottenham’s project following talks with Thomas Frank, sources have told TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey.

The Danish manager is a huge fan of the 27-year-old and firmly believes that he can be a key part of his team at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Just after his switch across London, Frank quickly made it clear he wanted Eze, as TBR Football revealed back in June.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Eze has spoken with Frank, and I am told that it took very little time for Eze to realise that this was the right move.

“Eze was deemed a good fit from the offer, but Frank’s vision for him certainly hit the spot. Frank firmly believes that Eze could be a cornerstone of his Spurs project – he rates him that highly.

Eze to Arsenal did look on at one stage, but now that move has gone away, he is now fully focused on a move to N17.

“Yes, at one point a move to Arsenal looked likely, but in football things change – now the Arsenal talks are behind Eze, he is fully focused on Tottenham and what he can do,” Bailey added.

“Several people within football have been telling me for weeks that Tottenham was the right place for Eze… We will soon see if they are correct in that view.”

The North London club face a race against the clock to sign him in time for their clash with Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime.

Tottenham’s move for Savinho is currently off

At this stage, Tottenham’s move for Savinho is off, with Pep Guardiola keen to keep the winger, despite him being open to joining Spurs.

Man City were open to selling Savinho, but they were willing to bow to their manager’s desire to keep hold of the Brazilian.

Savinho is set to miss the game against Tottenham on the weekend with an injury.

Frank had been keen to add Eze plus another wide forward to his squad, but that player now looks unlikely to be Savinho.

Ben Foster thinks Tottenham have a ‘world-class’ player but he doesn’t try hard enough

Ben Foster thinks Tottenham have a ‘world-class’ player but he doesn’t try hard enough - TBR Football
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have made a flying start to the Premier League campaign and one player has really caught the eye of Ben Foster.

Thomas Frank’s team produced an impressive 3-0 win at home to Burnley, with Richarlison netting a brace and Brennan Johnson also getting on the scoresheet.

The Danish head coach’s team also impressed in the UEFA Super Cup final, where they were denied late on by Paris Saint-Germain, but there were plenty of positives to take from their performance.

The former Premier League shotstopper has now been discussing Spurs’ start to the Premier League season and has highlighted one player in particular.

Ben Foster hails ‘world-class’ Richarlison

Ben Foster hails ‘world-class’ Richarlison, but admitted that the Tottenham Hotspur striker tends to drop off after a strong run of form.

Richarlison also earned praise from Glenn Hoddle for his start to life under Frank, having also produced a solid display against PSG.

TBR Football understands that Richarlison has really impressed Frank and the Brazilian could quickly become a key player for him.

Foster says he is a big fan of the 28-year-old but called for him to show a bit of consistency following a great start to the season.

Foster told the Cycling GK Podcast: “Yeah, he [Richarlison] seems to me to get bored. He smashes it for a little bit and then thinks, ‘I’ve done enough now’.

“But he’s a very, very good player. He’s a Brazilian international, for God’s sake. He’s a world-class player, right? But I just think sometimes he goes, ‘Right, I’ve probably done enough for a little while now. Now I’ll settle down’.

“He’ll come in and out of the team, and I think that’s probably the frustration for Spurs fans in general. My brother’s a Spurs fan, and he’s constantly moaning about it, to be honest with you.

“But when he’s fit, and when he’s motivated, and when he wants it, you get this sort of performance [Against Burnley].”

Richarlison is likely to keep his place in the team for Spurs’ trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday lunchtime, ahead of Dominic Solanke.

Troy Deeny names Richarlison in Premier League Team of the Week

Troy Deeny was also super impressed by Richarlison’s display and named him in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The Brazilian got in ahead of Erling Haaland and Chris Wood, who both also managed braces during the opening round of fixtures.

Deeney told BBC Sport: “I chose to go with Richarlison at Tottenham. He has had a really tough start with injuries, but Thomas Frank decided to start with him over Dominic Solanke and Richarlison repaid him with two wonderful goals.

“Really good link-up play, great running in behind. It’s a World Cup year and that could be the catalyst for him to really kick on.”

£39m Tottenham star tops Premier League charts in one area, importance under Thomas Frank is clear

£39m Tottenham Hotspur star tops Premier League charts in one area after Burnley display - TBR Football
Description

Tottenham Hotspur beat Burnley 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in an encouraging start under Thomas Frank.

New Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has a reputation as a flexible coach from his time at Brentford.

We have seen that on display in the last week, with Frank lining Tottenham up in a 3-5-2 formation against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup.

Come Saturday, Tottenham were back in a much more expansive 4-3-3 system to take on newly-promoted Burnley.

Richarlison’s brace left Tottenham 2-0 up before Brennan Johnson raced clear to secure a 3-0 victory.

Three goals, three points and a clean sheet will have left Frank delighted as he kicked off his Premier League campaign with a win.

Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro leads Premier League in one area

This was an encouraging display in Frank’s first Premier League game as Tottenham boss, and Pedro Porro certainly looked impressive.

The Spaniard showed some impressive early link-up with Tottenham new boy Mohammed Kudus down the right flank, which bodes well for the future.

Sky Sports (18/08, 22:40), as also captured by FPL Velvet, showed off the leaders in a number of statistical categories following the first game of the season, and Porro was on display.

Porro recorded the highest number of passes into the opposition box with his tally of 14 against Burnley.

Sky Sports host David Jones then pointed out that Porro averaged around eight passes into the opposition box last season, so this was a significant increase on his average.

One pass picked out Dominic Solanke with his back to goal, and the striker came so close to scoring, but dragged his shot wide at 3-0.

That kind of output in the final third would normally be associated with a playmaker or a winger, but right-back Porro proved to be an attacking outlet against Burnley.

Porro also recorded three key passes, two accurate crosses, three ball recoveries and four successful duels in a strong display.

Pedro Porro will play a key role under Thomas Frank

Creativity is a major subject around Tottenham after James Maddison picked up a season-ending injury in pre-season.

Tottenham are chasing a deal for Eberechi Eze, and bringing in the Crystal Palace playmaker would see him become Frank’s new chief creative force.

Perhaps Frank placed more creative emphasis on Porro against Burnley as he waits for a new number 10 to arrive.

The fact remains that Porro is a brilliant attacking force at right-back, though, and he should continue to thrive in the final third over the course of the season.

Porro cost Tottenham £39million in 2023 and his record of 11 goals and 21 assists in 107 games for Spurs sums up his attacking quality.

Frank surely sees Porro as a vital attacking threat, both from right-back and right wing-back, and his display against Burnley may be a sign of things to come from the Spaniard going forward.

Lewis Holtby says he played with a £15m midfielder at Tottenham who was better than Toni Kroos

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have had some fantastic midfield players over the years.

Luka Modric was excellent at Tottenham and he went on to become a Ballon d’Or winner.

Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen was amazing for Spurs as well.

However, in the eyes of many, the very best of the bunch was none other than Mousa Dembele.

Indeed, Dembele was so highly rated by his teammates at Spurs, and speaking to ESPN, Lewis Holtby has gone on the record to praise the Belgian as well.

Holtby was asked to pick between a number of his teammates from his career, and he says that Dembele was actually a better player than Toni Kroos.

Mousa Dembele was better than Toni Kroos

Holtby spoke about Dembele and how good he was at Tottenham.

The German says he was actually shocked by how good Dembele was at Spurs, claiming that he was actually an incredible player.

“Toni Kroos or Mousa Dembele?” Holtby was asked.

“I knew this question would come. Listen, Toni Kroos won everything, he was incredible, he was so good, but, to be honest when I was in training with Mousa Dembele, I was shocked by how good he was on the ball and how strong he was on the ball, he’s like a proper street footballer, so I will say Mousa Dembele,” Holtby said.

Mousa Dembele compared to Toni Kroos

Dembele is so highly-rated by his peers, but picking him above a bona fide legend like Kroos is bordering on being ridiculous.

Indeed, as good as Dembele was, Kroos is genuinely one of the all-time greats.

Kroos has achieved more in his career than Dembele could perhaps ever dream of achieving, and, with all due respect, performing at the top-level for Real Madrid isn’t the same as battling for the top four with Tottenham.

Dembele was a special footballer, there’s no doubt about it, but he doesn’t belong in the same conversation as someone like Toni Kroos.

Michael Dawson says he’s ‘absolutely devastated’ after what’s happened with £40m Tottenham player - TBR Football
Description

Tottenham Hotspur got off to the best possible start in the Premier League on Saturday as they beat Burnley 3-0.

Spurs were excellent against Burnley, but, sadly, there are still a few underlying issues at the club that need addressing.

Indeed, Tottenham are still light in some areas, notably in the attacking midfield position.

James Maddison has picked up a serious injury, while Spurs’ deal for Morgan Gibbs-White fell through earlier this summer.

Speaking on Hayters TV, Michael Dawson has been discussing Spurs’ situation, and he’s shared his reaction to James Maddison’s injury.

Michael Dawson ‘absolutely devastated’ by James Maddison’s injury

Dawson spoke about Maddison’s injury, stating that he’s devastated to see the £40m midfielder picking up such a serious problem.

The pundit says Spurs will now need to sign a new number 10 after this injury.

“I’m absolutely devastated for James Maddison, when he plays he’s a top player,” Dawson said.

“He picked up a few injuries at the end of last season, he’s come back ready for the start and he’s picked up an ACL injury.

“Nobody will be as gutted as he will feel after doing a pre-season. With Kulusevski out as well and Sonny leaving, it’s a position that Thomas Frank realises they have to strengthen because you’ve lost James who would be a massive asset in that number 10 position.

Michael Dawson tells Tottenham who to sign

Dawson says Tottenham need to sign a new attacking midfielder after Maddison’s injury, and he’s shared exactly who that player should be.

Indeed, Dawson has told Spurs to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

“Huge fan of Eze as well. That buyout clause is £68m, whether something will happen I’m not too sure. I’m a huge fan of Eze and I could see him fitting in that Tottenham team for sure,” Dawson said.

Eze has been strongly linked with Spurs in recent times, and this is a deal that could well be done before the deadline.

Losing Maddison is a blow, but Eze would be a sensational replacement, it has to be said.
