Tottenham’s season ended on Sunday with a 4-1 defeat to Brighton, despite taking an early lead through Solanke’s penalty.

With the mixed season coming to an end, focus now shifts to a summer of uncertainty.

The manager’s future at Spurs remains unclear, despite winning over the fans, with Levy expected to sack Ange this summer, despite Tottenham fans now backing Ange to stay. And it’s not just the manager – several players are expected to be moved on, including Richarlison.

Richarlison has been linked with a move away from Tottenham since the January transfer window.

Saudi Pro League wanted to sign him in the winter transfer window but Richarlison shut down a move to Saudi at that time.

The Brazilian is now attracting strong interest from his former side. It is reported that Everton wants to sign Richarlison back, with David Moyes pushing for a transfer.

“And it was when I returned to Brazil for a week in February, after yet another injury, that things started to change.

“Being around my family in those days changed a lot for me. It made me feel like the old Charlie, the boy who just wanted to play football.

“Being on the field has always been therapeutic for me, even before I discovered the power of therapy. It’s my best medicine and the thing that cures almost all of my problems.

“And that’s how, playing football without fear, without apprehension, until my legs couldn’t take it anymore from tiredness and cramps, I left the field on Wednesday. With a trophy in my hands, my heart full of joy and with my team, so discredited during the season, champion!

“Thank you to everyone who was by my side and was part of this special moment, always believing in me and encouraging me even in the most difficult moments. Thank you to Tottenham – board, players, coaching staff, employees – and to all my staff – for making it all happen together! Let’s go for more!”

Everton very keen on bringing Richarlison back

Tottenham signed Richarlison from Everton in 2022 in a £60m deal, but the Brazilian has struggled to live up to the expectations.

The 28-year-old’s time at Spurs has been marred by injuries, fitness problems and inconsistent form.

He has only scored 20 goals in 90 appearances for the club across all competitions in three years.

At Everton, he was a far more influential figure, scoring 53 goals and providing 15 assists in just over 150 games.

With the World Cup coming up next year, Richarlison’s decision could be factored around the tournament.

He has a great record from Brazil, but TBR Football understands Richarlison has been informed that he needs to be playing regularly next season to be considered for the squad.

Tottenham Hotspur have had another rollercoaster of a week.

Spurs hit the highest of highs on Wednesday as they won the Europa League, while they hit a new low on Sunday as they signed off their league campaign with a 4-1 defeat to Brighton, finishing 17th in the table.

Ange Postecoglou was set for the sack prior to winning the Europa League, but now, things don’t appear to be all that clear.

Micah Richards thinks Postecoglou will stay, while others still reckon he’s set for the sack.

Speaking on 606, Chris Sutton has been discussing the idea of Daniel Levy getting rid of the manager at this point, and he believes it would be foolish for Spurs to sack Postecoglou now.

Sutton shared his verdict on Postecoglou’s situation at Spurs.

The pundit reckons it would be foolish for Tottenham to sack Ange Postecoglou at this point, going as far as to claim that Spurs let Postecoglou down last summer.

“It would be foolish for Big Ange to be let go by Spurs. Ange should stay. Daniel Levy needs to back Ange,” Sutton said.

“Last summer, Rob, I don’t know how close you follow Tottenham. They bought young. They were going for development players.

“Tottenham need players who were further down the line in their careers. I don’t know what you think, but I thought they sort of let Ange down last summer with the recruitment.”

Sutton says Tottenham have let Ange Postecoglou down in the transfer market, but it’s very hard to agree with that point of view.

Indeed, Spurs have spent a massive amount of money since hiring Postecoglou as their manager, including a club record signing of Dominic Solanke.

Spurs have spent close to £400m in two years since hiring Postecoglou, and it’s hard to have sympathy for the manager in this regard.

Postecoglou has been unlucky as injuries have defined Tottenham’s season at times, but a 17th-place finish is, quite simply, unacceptable.

Daniel Levy has a very difficult decision to make with Postecoglou, there’s no doubt about that, but sacking the manager isn’t as unreasonable as Sutton is making out here.

However, we are told that the Australian has told Levy to give him more time at the helm of Spurs.

Postecoglou guided Tottenham to the Champions League last week after claiming the Europa League crown with victory over Manchester United.

However, Postecoglou is aware that Daniel Levy has been doing work on a host of possible replacements.

Despite his Europa success, Spurs ended the season with another defeat, making it 22 for the season.

If, as expected, a change is made at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it is because of their horrendous league form.

Pundits are split over the Tottenham manager’s future – Alan Shearer believes Postecoglou will go, while Micah Richards thinks the Spurs boss will stay.

“You just have to look at those clubs’ trajectory even after I left, they are still competing for things.

“I really think this is a moment in time where this club could push on and be a real contender for honours on a yearly basis.”

Tottenham’s season ended with a whimper rather than a bang in the Premier League.

Indeed, Spurs didn’t capitalise on any of the momentum gained from winning the Europa League on Wednesday as they lost 4-1 to Brighton in their final league game of the season on Sunday.

Massive question marks still remain over Ange Postecoglou’s future. Postecoglou was set for the sack at one point, but now, things may have changed, even if Spurs’ squad are split on the manager.

This is a very tricky situation to predict.

On one hand, Ange Postecoglou has done a terrible job at Tottenham domestically, Spurs have just finished 17th in the table, and, in another world, they could’ve been relegated this season.

However, a trophy and Champions League qualification does mask those issues, and you can’t argue with the success Postecoglou has had on that front.

The stats do show though that perhaps Postecoglou’s time at Tottenham should be up.

Daniel Levy has a tough decision to make here, and, no matter what he decides, Spurs need to be decisive and act quickly.

“Now, Romero is out of contract in two years and it’s going to be a situation to follow because at the moment, there are no conversations ongoing to extend his contract but for sure now, Daniel Levy will try his best to keep Cuti Romero despite strong interest especially from Spain.”

Postecoglou said via BeanymanSports: “Look, I think Romero is absolutely important to keep at this football club. You just saw the way he’s been and he hasn’t been fully fit, to be fair to him with his toe but you’ve seen he’s a winner and you saw that in all the big games we’ve had.”

“The lads certainly respect him very highly and he makes them taller, walk a bit taller, so, yeah from my perspective, it is a no-brainer.”

“If he goes, who do you replace him with? There’s not too many out there like him, so it’d be very important for the club to try and retain him and retain him for the longer term I think.”
