Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has confirmed forward Dominic Solanke has undergone minor surgery to get to the bottom of his troublesome ankle injury.

Solanke, who last played for Spurs on Aug. 23 against Manchester City, was absent from training again on Monday ahead of the Champions League fixture away to Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday.

He had returned to training earlier this month before being pulled out last week, but Frank revealed in Norway that a final decision had been made to go down the surgery route.

"Dom [Solanke] has got that ankle issue that's been bothering him for a little while, so now we've decided to make a minor surgery," Spurs boss Frank said in a news conference.

"It's a small procedure, so that will mean he is not ready for today of course and of course Leeds [on Saturday] as well. We'll have more news about a timeframe after the international break, but I don't expect it to be long."

Frank had played down concerns over Solanke's fitness in Friday's press conference before a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves on Saturday night.

Solanke missed the majority of preseason with an ankle issue, but it appeared to be fixed by the start of August after he featured in matches against Paris Saint-Germain, Burnley and Manchester City.

However, with the 28-year-old not able to play for Tottenham during the last five weeks, Frank was asked whether the club could have opted for surgery sooner.

He said: "No, I think you can look at it two ways. That is the easy answer but it is not that easy because if we knew we could have done the surgery a month ago, we probably would have done it.

"For me I am always 'it is what it is.' We deal with it now and no doubt the way we dealt with it was because we thought that was the right thing. In general no one wants surgery."

Surgery for Solanke leaves Frank light on attacking options in Bodo, with PSG loanee Randal Kolo Muani unable to train on Monday.

Frank provided a positive update on the France international, but he will be unavailable for this rematch with Bodo four months on from Spurs' Europa League semifinal victory at Aspmyra Stadion.

Mathys Tel featured in the 2-0 win in the Arctic Circle, but is not registered for Tottenham's Champions League squad, which is also the case for summer recruit Kota Takai and Yves Bissouma.

Takai and Bissouma took part in training on Monday along with Ben Davies -- after a minor knee issue -- but Frank revealed captain Cristian Romero has been left in England as a "precaution" after a bruising encounter with Wolves.

Frank added: "Kolo Muani, I think now we're finally on top of his dead leg, so that is also progress there and good. Cuti [Romero] was just a precaution."

Asked about Spurs' 2-0 win over Bodo under his predecessor Ange Postecoglou, Frank admitted: "How many months is that? Four months ago? With all due respect, I was not the coach.

"This is a new game. This is a new situation."

Tottenham Hotspur will look to build on their winning start in the UEFA Champions League when they travel to Norway to take on Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday. A poor performance over the weekend saw them need a late Joao Palhinha stunner to salvage a draw against bottom-side Wolves in the Premier League.

Bodo/Glimt, one of four clubs making their debuts in the Champions League proper this season, are the northernmost team to ever compete in Europe's premier competition.

Where Spurs had a close 1-0 win over Villarreal to start the campaign, Bodo/Glimt had to do dig up to come back from 0-2 down and rescue a draw against Slavia Prague.

Bodø/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen told UEFA.com: "We played a cup match on Thursday and have used the days well. We landed in Bodø on Friday morning, gave the players Friday off, and have since focused on the Tottenham match. We have faced Tottenham before and feel well prepared."

Here's everything you need to know about Tuesday's match:

Stats:

Bodo/Glimt don't like facing English clubs in Europe: They've lost all five of their UEFA competition matches against English club, including two losses in the UEFA Europa League semifinal against Tottenham (1-3 and 0-2)

Spurs, meanwhile, have no such issues with Norwegian clubs. They have won all six matches against Norwegian teams, scoring 22 goals - including ten from three games in Norway - and conceding only four.

Spurs are aiming to start a CL group stage/league phase campaign with successive wins for only the second time. They previously did so in the 2017/18 edition, when they beat Borussia Dortmund (3-1 at home) and APOEL Nicosia (3-0 away).

João Palhinha rescued a 1-1 draw for Tottenham Hotspur with a stoppage-time leveller to deny Wolves a first Premier League victory of the season.

Wolves had lost their opening five league fixtures, but were set to turn the form tables on its head when Santiago Bueno put them ahead in the 54th minute after Vitor Pereira made a host of changes in an attempt to halt their winless run.

Spurs would have gone second with a victory and yet struggled to create chances against bottom-of-the-table Wolves, especially in the second half until Palhinha curled home in the fourth-minute of stoppage time.

Palhinha's third goal since he joined on loan from Bayern Munich ensured new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank avoided a second home loss of the campaign, but it still represented a big missed opportunity after defeats for Liverpool and Chelsea earlier in the day.

Frank, though, elected to focus on the positives.

"I like the effort and mentality and I think it is huge actually and I mean that to get a point on a night where it is not perfect, especially not in the second half," Frank said.

"Now that is two times in a row we come back. I think that tells a lot about the players.

"Yes we want more and we did not hit our highest performance level today, but when you are down at 90 plus and you get a point, I think that's positive."

Pereira ripped up his trusted 3-4-2-1 formation in north London and went with four at the back for the first time in the Premier League since his appointment at Wolves last December.

It initially worked as the visitors forced two early corners, but Spurs should have gone ahead after 15 minutes.

Xavi Simons, one of two changes from last weekend's 2-2 draw at Brighton, cut inside and picked out Mohammed Kudus, who had a close-range header brilliantly tipped on to the crossbar by Sam Johnstone.

Johnstone had got the nod over José Sá and picked the ball out of the net in the 27th minute, but Kudus' lovely curled finish from an equally excellent Lucas Bergvall flick was correctly disallowed for offside.

Frank's side remained on the front foot but Bergvall lifted over from a fine cross by Kudus, who went up a notch as the half ended.

Moments later a powerful left-footed strike by Kudus forced Johnstone into a flying save and although Palhinha went down after he beat Marshall Munetsi to the ball, referee Michael Salisbury waved away penalty appeals.

Richarlison failed to finish another excellent Kudus delivery before ex-Tottenham full-back Matt Doherty clipped the crossbar from six-yards in stoppage time after a Jhon Arias corner.

Pereira introduced Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Jackson Tchatchoua at the break and nine minutes later watched Wolves go ahead.

The visitors forced a corner not long after Spurs captain Cristian Romero went on a one-man pressing mission and Arias picked out Ladislav Krejcí, who was denied by Guglielmo Vicario but Bueno tapped in the rebound after it bounced off Palhinha.

Frank made his first tactical tweak after 63 minutes with Brennan Johnson and Pedro Porro sent on, but Wolves threatened next as Bellegarde fired wide.

Vicario denied Bueno next before Frank introduced Pape Sarr and Wilson Odobert with 12 minutes left.

Richarlison headed over a Porro cross moments later but the final roll of the dice was Mathys Tel coming on and Tottenham going to a 3-4-3 formation.

Eventually it paid off as Tel cut inside and his cross was laid off by Sarr for Portugal international Palhinha, who expertly found the bottom corner to deny countryman Pereira a first win of this league campaign.

"One I am proud of my players and happy with the spirit they show in the game and the ambition they show in the game, but frustrated because when we have three points and we lose two in the last minute, it is difficult," Pereira said.

"The question is did we win one point or lose two? My answer is we lost two points because the team showed that we came here to win the game, especially in the second

Frank: Tottenham owners committed to success - ESPN United Kingdom
Description

Thomas Frank said the current Tottenham Hotspur owners are "120 percent" committed to achieving something special after a third expression of interest to buy the club was rejected.

Spurs addressed media speculation over a proposed £4.5 billion ($6bn) takeover bid on Friday with a statement via the London Stock Exchange that majority owners ENIC -- run by the Lewis family trust -- "is not looking to sell its stake" in the club.

The statement confirmed an informal expression of interest to acquire shares in Tottenham by a consortium led by American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick had been "unequivocally rejected" by ENIC.

ENIC issued a similar statement earlier this month which confirmed expressions of interest by Amanda Staveley's PCP International Finance and a consortium of investors led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited were also rejected.

Takeover speculation has increased since the sudden departure of Daniel Levy on Sept. 4 after 24 years as chairman. It was a move designed to help Tottenham target "more wins, more often," according to a source close to the Lewis family.

Ahead of Saturday's visit of Wolves, the third home fixture since a restructure of key roles which has left the Lewis family trust with greater power, Frank talked up their long-term ambitions.

Frank said: "Very, very invested. 120 percent committed to the club.

"They really want to achieve something special, want to build and want to add. Again, I think I like the phrase building layers because you never go to the top. You can't jump five steps. That's impossible.

"So, building layers, I think, is very important. I think that's also more organic and more sustainable over time, but they're very, very focused on what they can do to help the club."

Vivienne Lewis, the daughter of Joe Lewis, who was previously Spurs' majority owner before his shares were moved into a family trust in 2022, has been in the directors box alongside chief executive Vinai Venkatesham in recent matches.

Even though she was always understood to be a prominent figure at the club behind the scenes, Frank welcomed her growing presence.

"I think it's important to be visible," Frank admitted.

"If you're an owner or you're a leader or you're something else, I think it's important to be visible so people can see you. So, I think it's positive."

Frank confirmed on Friday that "informal chats" had occurred with various members of the Lewis family, but a longer discussion with them to discuss their long-term plans is yet to be pencilled in.

He added: "The Lewis family has been very transparent, very good in the way they have communicated and it's very clear the club is not for sale.

"Vinai on top of everything is very clear and for me personally, I feel in a very stable environment going into work every day."

Asked about his dialogue with the Lewis family, Frank revealed: "We have had more informal chats.

"Of course it's about football, the club and the team and all that, but the bigger plans is something we're working along with and I think it's important to get to know each other and align everything."

Dominic Solanke will miss Saturday's visit of Wolves with an ongoing ankle problem.

"It's still not a big thing," Frank insisted. "I expect him back as soon as possible."

Spurs 'not for sale' amid £4.5bn takeover report - ESPN United Kingdom
Description

An expression of interest to buy Tottenham by a consortium led by Brooklyn Earick has been "unequivocally rejected" by owners ENIC.

A report in The Sun on Thursday night stated American tech entrepreneur Earick was ready to launch an overall £4.5 billion ($6bn) takeover bid for the Premier League club.

Spurs' majority owners ENIC, which is run by the Lewis family trust, earlier this month rejected expressions of interest from Amanda Staveley's PCP International Finance and a consortium of investors led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited.

A club statement at the time insisted "Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale" and a source close to the Lewis family reiterated that message on Thursday night to the PA news agency.

ENIC owns 87% of Spurs, but due to the remaining shares being publicly traded, the club is subjected to the UK Takeover Code. This means any expression of interest or bid must be lodged with the Takeover Code panel and made public.

On Friday, a statement by the board of Tottenham on London Stock Exchange read: "The club is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd ("ENIC"), has received, and unequivocally rejected, an informal expression of interest in relation to a proposal to acquire the entire issued, and to be issued, share capital of the club from a consortium led by Mr Brooklyn Earick.

"The board of the club and ENIC reconfirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC is not looking to sell its stake in the club."

The Sun claimed Earick -- who was involved earlier this year in a failed acquisition of Formula E team Maserati -- was set to launch a £3.3bn takeover bid with a number of NFL and NBA investors, with a further £1.2bn set aside as transfer funds for new boss Thomas Frank.

If the overall £4.5bn package were successful, it would have exceeded Todd Boehly's takeover of Chelsea for £4.25bn in 2022.

- Carabao Cup draw: Holders Newcastle host Spurs

- Frank: Would love Kane return but don't expect it

- Frank: Bissouma still has future at Tottenham

The Lewis family trust earlier this month asked Daniel Levy to step down from his role as Tottenham chairman after 24 years due to a desire for the club to target "more wins, more often."

Levy revealed last year the club were in talks with "prospective investors" over selling a minority share, although discussions involving Qatar Sports Investments were denied.

PA understands the Lewis family trust is open to external investment, but the main focus is on providing the required support to new non-executive chairman Peter Charrington, chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and head coach Frank, all whom have been appointed in 2025, to help deliver greater on-field success.

A source close to the Lewis family told PA: "This unsolicited and unnecessary interest does nothing to change the family's resolve and commitment to do whatever it takes to drive success on the pitch. The club is not for sale."

Thomas Frank would happily welcome Harry Kane back to Tottenham Hotspur, but does not expect the forward to leave Bayern Munich any time soon.

Kane is close to a century of goals for Bayern after another hat trick last Saturday for the Bundesliga champions.

However, German publication BILD on Monday reported Kane has a £56.7 million release clause which could be activated next summer.

- Kane: UCL 'suits me' better than Bundesliga

- Kane responds to Owen's 'nuts' dig for Spurs exit

- Frank: Bissouma still has future at Tottenham

ESPN has previously reported that a clause will be active in January 2026 allowing Kane to move clubs for €60 million (£52m).

Kane left Tottenham for Bayern in a deal worth £100m in August 2023. As part of that agreement, Spurs have first option on the England captain but they would still need to either activate the clause or negotiate a price with Bayern.

"I didn't know there was a clause," Frank admitted. "He is an unbelievable player who did fantastic for Spurs and is doing fantastic for Bayern. Top player.

"I think there's a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back.

"Personally, I don't think he will do it right now if I'm honest. He'll probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well.

"He was top scorer last year, won the championship and he's doing fantastic now. I don't know what he's thinking. Myself, I'm a traveller, I like to travel, I like to explore things as well. He's been here for many years so why not enjoy the time at Bayern a little bit more?

"But he's welcome. If he wants to join us, he's more than welcome!"

Frank's immediate focus is Wednesday's visit of Doncaster in the Carabao Cup third round where Spurs youngsters aspiring to be the next Kane could get an opportunity.

Highly-rated attacker Luca Williams-Barnett has impressed this season and struck a hat trick for the under-21s in Friday's victory over Leicester.

Asked about the 16-year-old on Tuesday, Frank hinted at a potential place on the bench.

He added: "Of course he's trained with us, Luca, a few times. I get good info from the academy and from our transition coach Stuart [Lewis].

"So yeah, I'm well aware of Luca's talent and I like what I see. He's young, obviously, but his composure and technique and vision is very good.

"He's a player that we like a lot. Let's see tomorrow, but that could be an opportunity."

Tottenham will be aiming to have a right go at the Carabao Cup season, looking to end their domestic drought -- they last won this tournament in 2008, although they did lift silverware last season through with their Europa League triumph.

Their first match will be against League One side Doncaster Rovers, who had started the season brightly but have just endured two back-to-back defeats against Wigan Athletic and AFC Wimbledon.

Grant McCann's side will face an uphill task but arrive at the third round after a 4-0 win against Middlesbrough and a 2-0 victory over Accrington Stanley.

"We're playing against a top, top team and a top manager. Looking at their team that didn't play against Brighton every single one of them are internationals," McCann said ahead of the match.

"It's going to be an almighty task. Nobody in the country will give us any hope of going there and doing anything. There's no pressure at all on us and hopefully we play our game and see how it goes."

Spurs manager Thomas Frank will be keen to see his club avoid a repeat of the 2022-23 season when they lost to Nottingham Forest. Spurs, though, start their Cup campaign on the back of a good run of results which has seen them win four of their past six matches in all competitions.
