Summer Tour 2025 | Thomas Frank on the importance of time together on Tour - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Thomas Frank has underlined the importance of time together with players and staff over the course of our Tour of Hong Kong and Korea.

The travelling party landed on Monday evening local time (Hong Kong is seven hours ahead of the UK) and after a recovery session last night, will train for the first time on Tuesday morning local time, followed by the ever-popular open training session at the all-new Kai Tak Stadium, where we face Arsenal in our first Tour game – and first NLD outside the UK – on Thursday (12.30pm UK) - live on SPURSPLAY.

Speaking before departing for Hong Kong, Thomas spoke to SPURSPLAY about the importance of the Tour. “I think it’s extremely important,” he said. “Look, one thing is the training ground, where, of course, we get to know each other, but there are meetings going on and so many other things happening, double sessions and so on… now, we just have a little more time where we can interact better, staff and players.”

Meet our new Women’s Under-19s cohort - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

We are delighted to announce an intake of seven new players who will join our Women’s Under-19s squad for the 2025/26 Professional Game Academy League campaign.

Sophie Jackson – who was named as a substitute in our FA Cup fourth round tie at Everton last term and captained the Under-16s to the PGA Trophy success in March, 2025 – will join the goalkeeping department alongside Erin Radbourne.

Nife Aramide and Holly-Mae Elmes join our midfield ranks, both players having featured for the Under-19s on a number of occasions last season.

Eloise Summers-Mee – who memorably scored a hat-trick in the Under-16s PGA Trophy success last term – will be part of our attack. She will be joined by Cairo-Evea Antoine, Poppy Neill - who both scored in the final of the PGA Trophy success with the former netting a brace – and Grace Bellwood, who also stepped up to Under-19s on occasions last term.

Under-19s Head Coach Sabiha Jamal said: “The quality of the seven players stepping up from the Under-16s shows the strength and success of our Academy pathway.

“It’s a privilege to be able to strengthen our Under-19s squad internally with home-grown players who all impressed last season in the younger age groups and even in their cameos with the Under-19s last season, so they know what it takes to compete at this level.

“I’m looking forward to their next steps with the Under-19s and seeing how much they continue to develop this campaign.”

Description

We are delighted to announce that George Abbott has signed a new, long-term contract with the Club.

The 19-year-old central midfielder excelled during his loan spell at Notts County last term, winning the EFL Goal of the Season award after a fantastic strike against Accrington Stanley in January as well as earning a place on the shortlist for League Two Young Player of the Season.

Stalemate against Hatters - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

We were held to a goalless draw by Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon.

In our second pre-season friendly of the day, following a 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers in a behind-closed-doors encounter at Hotspur Way a few hours earlier, we again saw honours end even as Thomas Frank handed extended match minutes to more senior players against the Hatters.

Following the same formula as against Wycombe, the majority of the starting XI completed 75 minutes before being replaced by some of our younger stars for the closing stages.

Luton had more chances overall, Nahki Wells denied by a superb save from Antonin Kinsky at the start of the second half in their best opportunity, while Mohammed Kudus had a shot blocked on the line and Will Lankshear dragged a late opportunity wide in our only two meaningful attempts at goal.

Kudus' effort came after just 10 minutes after we did well to keep the ball in play down the right touchline, but the new signing's shot was somehow kept out by some last-ditch defending from Christ Makosso. Wells had a couple of attempts charged down at the other end while Kal Naismith went close with a curler and Makosso's header under pressure cleared the crossbar as the Hatters sought a breakthrough.

In reality, Guglielmo Vicario wasn't meaningfully tested, but his half-time replacement Kinsky certainly was, the young goalkeeper producing an excellent save to keep out Wells' volley from Millenic Alli's cross eight minutes into the second period. Kudus couldn't capitalise after our former goalkeeper Josh Keeley nudged the ball in his direction a few minutes later, with the former West Ham man conjuring up more danger with some good footwork as he got to the byline on the right a quarter-of-an-hour from time, but his cut-back hit a defender and was gratefully gathered by Keeley.

We had a big chance to win it in the 89th minute after Callum Olusesi - the only player to feature in both first team games on Saturday - stepped in to win possession on the right and fed fellow substitute Lankshear, but the striker dragged his shot across goal and wide as our afternoon ended in frustrating fashion.

Under-21s suffer defeat at Woking

Under-21s suffer defeat at Woking - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Our Under-21s produced a much-improved second-half performance, but two first-half goals from Woking were enough for our hosts to run out 2-0 winners in a friendly encounter at Kingfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The National League side were on the front foot from the start and capitalised on a dominant first 45 as they went into the break two to the good. Captain Aiden O’Brien headed in the opener just after the half-hour mark before Jack Turner doubled their advantage six minutes from the break.

However, come the second period, after a number of changes at the break, we certainly took the game to Woking and carved out some fantastic opportunities to get ourselves back in the game – notably Oliver Irow being denied twice in quick succession by Craig Ross - but we were just unable to find the breakthrough against a resilient defence.

Jamie Andrews should have broken the deadlock on six minutes but he failed to show composure inside the box, lifting his effort over the diving Sam Archer and also over the bar, before our number one was called back into action shortly after, getting down low to his left to tip Turner’s effort around the post. Sam Ashford rifled a low shot past the far post before Woking’s pressure eventually prevailed just after the half-hour mark, O’Brien heading home from the centre of the box after a perfect delivery from Aaron Drewe on the right.

Having fallen behind, we looked for a response shortly after as Dan Batty saw his close-range effort blocked by the two centre-backs inside the six-yard box, before the Cardinals doubled their lead six minutes from the break with Drewe the provider once again, this time his low cross found Turner just inside the 18-yard box to slot the ball home.

Ellis Lehane, who was one of a number of players introduced at the break after featuring for the first team against Wycombe earlier in the day, fired wide from inside the box just minutes after the restart as we started brightly in the second half. Yusuf Akhamrich’s strike from edge of the box tested Ross while, at the other end, Pele Arganese-McDermott was in the right place at the right time to clear Ashford’s effort off the line after the forward’s original attempt was saved by Archer.

We continued to push for a way back into the game as Luca Williams-Barnett dragged a low effort wide of the far post after some lovely footwork to create space inside the box before Irow was denied twice by Ross in the space of a minute, with both attempts in and around the centre of the box but Woking’s shot stopper reacted quickly to get down low to both. Looking to halve the deficit in the closing stages of the game, Williams-Barnett's cross from the right was met by Tyrese Hall at the back but he was unable to direct his header on target as we couldn't capitalise on a strong second-half showing.
