Pape Matar Sarr's brace ensured honours ended even with Wycombe Wanderers in the first of two senior pre-season friendlies for us on Saturday.

The midfielder fired us ahead inside 13 minutes of the behind-closed-doors clash at Hotspur Way before finishing off a cut-back from lively young winger Tynan Thompson to level it up after Junior Quitirna's double had given the visitors the upper hand.

Thompson was one of multiple youngsters who featured in the closing stages, with the majority of the starting line-up given a significant amount of game time by Thomas Frank ahead of the Club's trip to Luton Town later in the day, with a different set of players in line to feature. Some of the youngsters who appeared in the second period against Wycombe will also be back in action in our Under-21s' friendly at Woking later.

Wilson Odobert was an electric influence on the right flank in what was his first action of pre-season. He set up Richarlison - also playing for the first time this summer - for an early shot while Pedro Porro's low free-kick was blocked by goalkeeper Mikki van Sas before we took the lead on 13 minutes, Odobert's shot saved by van Sas with Sarr on hand to convert the rebound.

Pedro Porro, Richarlison and Odobert all threatened as Wanderers hardly had a glimpse at goal, but just beyond the half-hour mark they equalised out of nothing, Quitirna's low drive from 18 yards out taking a slight deflection and squirming through Brandon Austin. Wycombe had a little spell of pressure after that but Cristian Romero's clever defending ensured they couldn't capitalise.

Four minutes after the break, though, Wycombe did manage to edge ahead when Quitirna blasted high into the net following a ball in from the left. Pedro Porro almost found an immediate response, his driven shot taking a big deflection and hitting the top of the crossbar, but we continued to control the flow of the game and were level once more on 64 minutes as Thompson's low delivery from the left flank was rammed home by Sarr.

Thompson could have got on the scoresheet himself on a couple of occasions thereafter but fired just wide after cutting in from the left and again missed the target after being played through by Callum Olusesi a few moments later. Fellow Under-18s player Luca Williams-Barnett saw a late free-kick blocked by the wall, with the match ultimately ending all square.

We can confirm the team line-ups for the first of today’s pre-season friendlies as we take on Wycombe Wanderers at Hotspur Way (11am UK, live on SPURSPLAY).

There are first pre-season minutes for Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Brandon Austin, all of whom are in our starting line-up. A handful of Under-21s and Under-18s players are involved in our first team squad for the first time with places on the bench.

We are delighted to announce that Rio Kyerematen has signed a new contract with the Club.

The midfielder has been with us since the age of eight and went full-time in 2021, signing his first professional contract the following year.

A key member of our Under-18 Premier League Cup-winning side in 2022/23, scoring a late winner in the semi-final at Sheffield United before netting a brace as we beat Aston Villa in the final at Villa Park, Rio has featured regularly for our Under-21s over the last two seasons, helping us to the Premier League 2 title in 2023/24.

An England youth international, he made his first appearance on the senior stage against Newcastle United on the Club’s post-season tour of Australia in 2024 and was named in our first team squad for the first time in a competitive game when we defeated Elfsborg in the UEFA Europa League in January of this year.

The famous Bill Nicholson Gates – that stood proudly in front of our old White Hart Lane stadium for generations – are now officially back home in Tottenham having been formally re-opened by our Chairman, Daniel Levy, and Bill’s daughter, Jean Bell, today.

The ceremony was attended by the Club’s Board, Bill’s friends and family, representatives of our Fan Advisory Board (FAB) and Supporters’ Trust and a number of Bill’s former players – Steve Perryman, Cliff Jones, Pat Jennings, Martin Chivers, Phil Beal, John Pratt, Terry Naylor and Peter Collins – as well as Club Ambassador, Gary Mabbutt.

The iconic black and gold iron gates have been kept safely in storage since 2015, having been removed ahead of the construction of our new stadium. Working in close consultation with our FAB, the Gates have been reinstated in their new location within PAXTON17, between the Ticket Office and historic buildings at the north of the stadium.

They became synonymous with the great Bill Nic following a famous photograph taken by Peter Robinson during Bill’s time as manager – and it was Peter who returned as official photographer for today’s event.

His iconic original image is emblazoned on a hoarding behind the reinstated Gates, providing a lasting visual of Bill and a fantastic photo opportunity for fans attending our stadium.

On formally re-opening the Gates, Daniel Levy said: “We were honoured to be joined by Bill’s family, friends and former players on what has been a historic occasion.

“Generations of fans, players and staff passed through the Bill Nicholson Gates on the way to White Hart Lane – they are of huge historic and cultural significance and I am extremely proud they have returned home.

“The iconic image of Bill holding the gates open is etched in the minds of so many fans and is now immortalised here in Tottenham.

“We look forward to welcoming fans back to the stadium for the new season and seeing the gates become a photo opportunity and local point of interest for many years to come.

Jean Bell said: “On behalf of Bill’s family, I would like to thank Daniel and the Club for preserving these beautiful, iconic gates and for re-erecting them outside the spectacular new stadium.

“Dad was very proud of Tottenham Hotspur. As well as striving for success on the pitch, he was also determined that the Club should establish a reputation for warm and generous hospitality. I think this sentiment is captured in Peter’s famous photo of Dad at the gates, where he appears to be welcoming everyone to White Hart Lane.

“We are delighted that the position chosen for the gates will give supporters the opportunity to have their own photos taken with them. We hope this will prompt older supporters to recall their memories of the Lane and inspire younger supporters to learn more about the Club’s history and the magnificent part Dad played in it.”

Bill himself first stepped through those gates as a young player in 1936 when he arrived for a trial, going on to be a key player in Arthur Rowe’s trailblazing 1950-51 League title winning side before himself becoming the Club’s most decorated manager, winning eight major trophies, including a League and FA Cup Double in 1961 and our first ever European triumph two years later.

The gates will now form part of our Heritage Tour that offers fans and visitors an in-depth journey through the Club and the area’s storied past, architectural gems and the remarkable individuals who have shaped its legacy.

Meanwhile, Peter Robinson’s iconic, original photograph is currently on display in OOF Gallery – free to enter and accessible via the Spurs Shop at the Tottenham Experience - alongside some of his greatest works, until August 31.

‘Double Vision’ surveys Robinson’s 60-plus year career, documenting world football from the lower leagues to the very highest level. The exhibition splits his work into a series of themed sections, from the psychology of taking a penalty, to players feigning injury and hastily drawn shirt numbers.

A large one-off signed print of the Bill Nicholson Gates photo will be auctioned for charity, with proceeds split between the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and Tottenham Tribute Trust (TTT) - a first-of-its-kind independent charity dedicated to serving the needs of former players who find themselves in a situation that compromises their quality of life.

As we prepare to face Luton Town in a pre-season friendly at Kenilworth Road on Saturday (3pm) - live on SPURSPLAY - we can turn the clock back over 130 years to a rivalry that spanned five-successive seasons in the FA Cup.

The first, recorded senior competitive game in our history was an FA Cup tie against West Herts on 13 October, 1894.

We won that first qualifying round match 3-2 and went on to beat Wolverton and Clapton before facing Luton in the fourth qualifying round on 15 December, 1894.

After a 2-2 draw at home, the team - pictured at the top of the page - were beaten 4-0 in the replay - meaning Luton consigned us to our first senior competitive defeat.

We'd bump into the Hatters - formed in 1885 - a few times in our early FA Cup runs. In fact, we played them five seasons on the trot!

We gained revenge for that first loss a year later with a 2-1 win in the first qualifying round as we reached the first round of the competition for the first time, only to lose out to Stoke.

Luton got us back again in the third qualifying round in 1896/97 and beat us again in the second qualifying round in 1897/98 but it was our turn in 1898/99, this time victory in a second replay in the third qualifying round on our way to the third round for the first time.

Of course, this was all building up to 1900/01 and one of the all-time great football achievements as we lifted the famous trophy as a non-league team from the Southern League - and, 125 years on, we remain the only team to achieve that feat. There was no Luton in sight as we beat Preston, Bury, Reading, West Brom and then Sheffield United in the final.

First of 611!

Gary Mabbutt proudly wore our Lilywhite shirt in 611 competitive fixtures - the first was against Luton Town in the old First Division back in 1982.

It started with a flourish as Mabbsy scored on his competitive debut against newly-promoted Luton, managed by his future boss, David Pleat, at the Lane on 28 August, 1982. With just three minutes on the clock, Glenn Hoddle clipped in a free-kick and Mabbsy planted home a header to open his Spurs account. Micky Hazard added the second in 2-0 win. It was the start of a glorious 16-year playing career at the Club, captain for 11, the highlight lifting the FA Cup as skipper at Wembley in 1991.

Signed in the summer of 1982 from Bristol Rovers, Mabbsy had an incredible first few months as a Spur. It wasn't long before he scored twice, from left-back, for England Under-21s against Denmark and he was then called up for his full international debut against West Germany at Wembley, aged 21, on 13 October, 1982.

Speaking to us back in 2015, Mabbsy recalled that 'whirlwind' start to life at Spurs. "We went on our pre-season tour to Norway and during the tour, a couple of players got injured, Keith Burkinshaw brought me into the middle of midfield and I then stayed in the team for the next 16 years!

"My debut for Spurs was the Charity Shield at Wembley against Liverpool and a week later, the first league game of the season at home to Luton and you can imagine, all the Spurs fans are used to seeing all these million-pound signings and big internationals and suddenly there was this young lad they’d never heard of from Bristol Rovers coming in for a bargain basement £105,000! I’m sure they were wondering who the heck this was but I came out against Luton, fantastic atmosphere and in the first five minutes we got a free-kick, Glenn Hoddle took it, put it on my head and I scored and from that moment, the Spurs fans warmed towards me and we’ve had the most amazing relationship since."

The full, provisional fixture list for the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League has been revealed.

We will begin our campaign at home to West Ham United on Sunday 7 September, kicking off at 12pm at Brisbane Road and has been selected for television coverage by Sky Sports, followed by a trip to Merseyside to face Everton in our first away game of the season on Sunday 14 September.

Martin Ho’s side will conclude the campaign across the weekend of 17 May with a visit to Brighton & Hove Albion.

In the Subway Women’s League Cup, the group stage will begin in late September and run until mid-November, with the quarter finals scheduled for 20th-21st December, 2025, semi-finals across 21st-22nd January, 2026, and the final due to be played on the weekend of 14th-15th March, 2026.

We will enter the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at the fourth round stage, with ties scheduled for the weekend of 17/18 January.

All Season Ticket Holders can now apply online or by submitting an application form, which can be obtained from the Ticket Office, no later than 5pm on Friday 1 August.

In the event that tickets are oversubscribed for this match they will be allocated in line with the Club’s ticketing point scheme.

Etihad Stadium has licensed safe standing areas within Blocks 013, 014, 313 and 314 of the visitors’ section. We will contact all successful applicants once the deadline has passed advising how a seated ticket can been requested.

Digital tickets

We will be issuing our allocation as digital tickets for this fixture.

As for home games, a link will be sent to the assigned supporter via email to download their ticket to their Apple/Google Wallet. This link will be sent to the individual successful Season Ticket Holder and not to the lead applicant.

Any supporter who is successful with their application and who does not have a compatible device will be able to submit a request to receive a paper ticket. We have received a very limited allocation of paper tickets and these requests will be monitored, and the ticket will only be available to collect on the day of the fixture at The Etihad on production of photographic ID.

Getting to the stadium

Luton railway station is located on the Midland Main line and has regular Thameslink services from various London stations including London Bridge, London Blackfriars and London St Pancras.

Trains from London take approximately 30-50 minutes to reach Luton, with Kenilworth Road a 20 minute walk from the station.

Kenilworth Road is located off the M1, approximately 20 minutes from Junction 21 of the M25.

There are various parking options available near the ground. Supporters should note, however, that a residents’ parking scheme is in place in the immediate vicinity. Street parking will likely be available further afield.

Entering the stadium

Gates will open at 1.30pm.

The visitors’ entrance is located behind the Oak Road Stand. Supporters should enter via Gate 6-7 and use turnstiles 30, 31 and 32.

Fans should note that safe standing has been introduced across the whole stand.

Accessibility

The accessible entrance is at Gate 7 on Oak Road, adjacent to the general admission turnstiles for away supporters. Ramped access is available off Oak Road into the away section, with the accessible area located in front of the stand.

Accessible toilets are available in the visitors’ section, however, this does not include a Changing Places facility.

Luton’s dedicated access stewards will be on hand in the area to support fans with further requirements. If you require assistance on the day, please speak to a member of the team.

Refreshments

Hot food, hot and cold drinks and alcoholic beverages will be available at the kiosks located inside the ground, with a range of options on offer to fans.

Visiting supporters’ pub

The away fans’ bar on Oak Road will be open from 1pm. Away supporters are also welcomed into the FanZone at the Kenilworth Road end of the stadium, where various food and beverage options are available.

Cashless payments

Kenilworth Road is a cashless stadium. All major debit and credit cards are accepted.

Bag policy

Small bags and backpacks are permitted, provided they fit under your seat. Bags will be searched on arrival at the stadium for security reasons.

Any supporters requiring medical exemption to the bag policy, or any prohibited items, are strongly advised to contact the Club in advance of travel at access@tottenhamhotspur.com.

Flags and banners

We have been advised that flags and banners are not permitted into the away section, following the installation of safe standing across the away section.

We are proud of our superb and loyal support at home and away.

We recognise that most supporters want to watch a football match and not listen to abusive or indecent language from the stands. Discriminatory or violent behaviour, including racist, homophobic, sexist or anti-disability shouting, chanting or actions, is unacceptable.

The Club reserves the right to indefinitely ban supporters found guilty of using discriminatory language or violent behaviour.

Ticket Office

Tickets can be collected from the ticket collection point, located on Oak Road. Duplicate tickets must be requested by emailing ticket.office@tottenhamhotspur.com. Duplicate tickets will only be provided upon production of valid photo ID.

Supporters are reminded that the unauthorised reselling or passing on of tickets is strictly prohibited.
