We are delighted to announce that Oliver Boast has joined our Academy from Leeds United.

The 16-year-old England youth international links up with our Under-18s as a first-year scholar, joining the initial 10 young players who went full-time with us in that year group at the start of this month.

A talented centre-forward, Ollie joined Leeds as an eight-year-old and progressed through the ranks, becoming a regular for their Under-18s last term despite still being a schoolboy. He scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-18s in April – a month which also saw him make his debut for the Whites' Under-21s, aged just 15.

On the international stage, Ollie has represented England at Under-15 and Under-16 levels to date.

It was back to where it all began for Kevin Danso on Saturday - returning to Reading 11 years on as a European champion.

The imposing centre-back actually started his youth career at the other end of the pitch as a striker for Reading Under-9s, staying at the Berkshire club for five years before moving to MK Dons in 2014. He moved on to FC Augsberg in Germany in 2016 and arrived here at Spurs in January via spells at Southampton, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Lens.

“Reading was my first glimpse of Academy football,” he told us after playing the first half of a 2-0 win against the Royals in our pre-season opener. “I played for the Under-9s a bit, good memories, and there are other players who made it professionally - Gabriel Osho (now at Auxerre), Tom McIntrye (Portsmouth), it’s good to be back, I haven’t been back for a while. It’s been a long time.”

Kevin and Cuti Romero were relatively untroubled in their 45 minutes before Micky van de Ven and Luka Vuskovic took over in the second half - Vuskovic impressing with an assist and goal in his first appearance, Will Lankshear also on target.

“You could see we tried to implement the new things we’ve learned from the gaffer, I thought it went really well, it felt good… good to get the first minutes under our belts,” he added, before giving an insight into the some of the information Thomas Frank is getting into the squad.

“To be aggressive on everything we do, give 100 percent and have that mentality, especially for defenders, have that clean sheet mentality, always being awake and alive to what’s going on, being alert, even when we’re attacking, to lock onto the opposition strikers, respecting every aspect of the game and playing it big, playing it as well as we can.”

As for that UEL medal - Kevin played an important role late in the final against United in Bilbao - he beamed: “At the moment it’s somewhere where I can always see it, in the morning or when I come back home from training, it’s right in front of the TV, a nice little place for it, and every now and then I’ll look at it just to remind me we’re champions.”

Our Under-21s will be back in action on Tuesday night with a trip to Leyton Orient (kick-off 7.45pm UK).

The match will once again see the teams compete for the JE3 Foundation Trophy, which honours the memory of our legendary former defender and ex-Orient manager Justin Edinburgh, who tragically passed away in 2019 at the age of 49.

The O’s are the current holders of the silverware after they registered a 2-1 win against Wayne Burnett’s side last summer.

Previous instalments of the JE3 Foundation Trophy were contested by our Under-21s in 2020 and 2022, while the 2021 edition was a first team fixture.

Wayne’s charges will be looking to build some more pre-season momentum after producing a valiant late fightback to come from 2-0 down and draw 2-2 at Boreham Wood on Saturday.

Our former Academy midfielder Michael Craig joined Orient from fellow League One club Reading this summer.

We are excited to announce we will be taking over the iconic AIA Vitality Park, in collaboration with our Global Principal Partner AIA, during our pre-season tour visit to Hong Kong.

The AIA Vitality Park is a community-focused events and activation space located at the Hong Kong Observation Wheel on the Central Harbourfront in Hong Kong.

The six-day Spurs Fan Park takeover, from Saturday 26 July until Thursday 31 July, will include a number of activations aimed at promoting physical welfare, including serving as a hotspot for free football clinics and sessions run by our Global Football Development teams. Since launching in 2013, our partnership with AIA has been focused towards helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives, with coaches from our Global Football Development team permanently based in Hong Kong and delivering a range of coaching programmes for AIA communities across Asia.

Fans will have the chance to take on football-based challenges, putting their skills to the test against benchmarks set by our Men’s First-Team – from Micky van de Ven’s blistering speed, Lucas Bergvall’s pinpoint passing, Cristian Romero’s aerial dominance, and Guglielmo Vicario’s lightning-fast reflexes. A live leaderboard over the six days will heighten the competitive atmosphere, showcasing the best performers, with the prize of a signed shirt included for the winners. Thomas Frank was full of praise for two players who made quite an impact in their first appearances in our 2-0 win at Reading on Saturday.

Mo Kudus and Luka Vuskovic pulled on the Lilywhite shirt for the first time in the second half of our pre-season opener at the Select Car Leasing Stadium - Thomas’ first game in charge since taking over as Head Coach.

Mo showed that he’s all about, that explosiveness out of tight areas, the ability to beat defenders and make things happen, and it was Luka who really caught the eye not just with his performance alongside Micky van de Ven in central defence, but in the Reading penalty box as well, where he provided the assist for Will Lankshear’s opener with a powerful header from Mo’s corner, and then drilled home like an arrow from Mo’s assist for 2-0.

Asked about the pair afterwards, Thomas, speaking to SPURSPLAY, told us: “Mo Kudus, he’s the newest one, I thought he was exciting to watch, had four or five very good actions where you can see what he’s about, his pace, his one-on-one skills, the way he can twist and turn going forward. That was a positive.

“Luka deserves praise, also an assist, great header, showed his physicality, his composure on the ball as well, he’s not getting stressed there when opponents are getting close – and what a strike! There were a lot of others where I’m getting to know them better. Of course, I’ve watched them a lot over the years, watched them a lot before I was appointed, and now in training, but this is where you see them here now and when you watch it back, that’s all the details we can go through.”

Thomas Frank was looking at the ‘bigger perspective’ of a full week of preparation after a 2-0 win against Reading in our pre-season opener on Saturday.

In his first game in charge, Thomas fielded different starting XIs in each half, 22 players with 45 minutes under their belts, including first appearances for Luka Vuskovic and Mo Kudus.

Indeed, both newcomers caught the eye in the second half, Luka with an assist for Will Lankshear’s opener and then a lovely strike for the second goal, while Mo gave fans an early show of his explosive running and ability to make things happen. "He was exciting to watch," said Thomas.

Asked if it was a case of boxes ticked for a first pre-season game, Thomas, speaking to SPURSPLAY, reflected: “Yes, lots of boxes ticked, and if we look in a bigger perspective, it’s been a good week, very tough and intense for the lads, so couple of good things, we’ve got through the week, touch wood, no injuries, everyone in a better, physical place, all the players got a good 45 minutes here, plus a good run after. The fitness box ticked, and it’s always important to keep a clean sheet, that’s very important if you want to win football matches, so good aspects in that. I think it’s good we scored two goals from set pieces, something we’ve been working hard on. There were elements in the game I’m happy with, elements of the high pressure, elements of the counter-press, so when we’ve lost it, we can bank teams in, elements of having enough players in the box… but there are also bits we’d like to do better, but that’s normal.”

The players certainly wanted to keep that clean sheet, and threw themselves in for blocks - as worked on in training last week - as Reading pushed for a late consolation. Guglielmo Vicario also kept the hosts at bay with a couple of fine saves, notably touching aside Ashqar Ahmed's low drive, the final effort of the game.

“That’s why you saw the blocking drill earlier in the week, everything is linked,” added Thomas. “We want to attack, we want to be brave but, unfortunately, we’re facing an opponent sometimes who also wants to attack, and when they are attacking, we want to defend well and put our bodies on the line when we have to.”

The Thomas Frank era kicks-off at Reading on Saturday (3pm) and our Head Coach has told us what he’s looking for in our first pre-season action against the League One side.

First up, Thomas explained that we’ll put out two 11s, playing 45 minutes each - and he reported in his pre-match press conference that both Heung-Min Son and Cuti Romero will be involved.

Speaking to us on Friday afternoon, Thomas said: “We will look, first of all, for a good performance, with two even teams out there, playing 45-45, and there be runs after. It's been a tough week for them, so this will be another. It will be the first 45 minutes into the legs, the system, the principles. The perfect thing is a good performance where we’re ticking a lot of those principles we try to integrate.”

Friday represented day 14 of pre-season, and with less than a month before we take on PSG in the UEFA Super Cup (13 August, 8pm) quickly followed by our Premier League opener at home to Burnley (16 August, 3pm), Thomas was asked what information he and his coaching team were getting into the players in these first weeks together.

“We like to get all our principles into them, all phases of the game - that's everything from defending the box to attacking the box,” he said. “We need to be really good in both boxes to try to achieve something. That also goes with the middle pressure, phase two, all the principles we try to get in - of course, there's a lot of information."

Thomas Frank has confirmed that Cristian Romero and Heung-Min Son will both play against Reading on Saturday.

We kick-off our pre-season campaign this weekend as we make the trip to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to take on the Royals - and all the action will be live on SPURSPLAY!

And Thomas has provided a key piece of team news ahead of the game by confirming the involvement of both Heung-Min Son and Cristian Romero.

The pair, who have been hard at work so far in training, have impressed our new Head Coach with the standards they have shown since he came in the doors and now he has revealed that both will play against the Royals, with each getting 45 minutes and the captain's armband.

"They are two top players. Both have trained well and set the standards. Both will play tomorrow," he said in his pre-match press conference.

"They train well. I’m very impressed by them. We will play two 45 minutes tomorrow and Son and Romero will be the two captains."
