Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke led the line as England took on Uruguay in a friendly match in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

Solanke got the nod in the absence of Tottenham legend Harry Kane, but failed to impress England manager Thomas Tuchel as the Three Lions played a 1-1 draw.

Solanke was the focal point in Tuchel’s 4-2-3-1 set-up, eight years and 133 days since his England debut.

The Spurs ace was the only England player to muster a shot in the first 45 minutes, nutmegging a Uruguayan player before firing at goal.

Unfortunately, it was mostly a subdued outing for Solanke, who has been in terrific form for Tottenham in 2026, before he was substituted for Dominic Calvert-Lewin on 56.

He did not grab the opportunity to establish himself as Kane’s back-up at the 2026 World Cup with this performance. He risks missing out despite the uptick in form.

On his performance, the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope gave Solanke a 4.5/10 rating, saying,

“Has to do more on such a big night.

“Dithered when played in behind by (Jordan) Henderson, and the chance went. Not an England starter, and maybe not a squad member.”

Solanke did not make much of an impact in a match that demanded he up his game, the story of his time at Tottenham.

His lack of impact, rampant injuries, and the possible loss of Randal Kolo Muani and Richarlison will likely force Spurs into the market for a new striker this summer.

The Tottenham frontline is crying out for a lethal marksman that can fire the club back into the upper echelon of the Premier League.

Solanke’s measly tally of six goals this season does not move the needle, and Spurs will be looking to pounce on a good market opportunity to sign a striker.

Tottenham eyeing AC Milan’s Pervis Estupinan

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for AC Milan left-back Pervis Estupinan as they look to bolster their defence, according to journalist Alessandro Jacobone.

Spurs are already planning for a pivotal summer transfer window, and they have their sights set on the 28-year-old.

Tottenham’s interest comes as no surprise. First-choice Spurs left-back Destiny Udogies continues to be plagued by constant injury setbacks.

Djed Spence, a natural right-back, has been forced to deputise for the Italian on several occasions.

Tottenham have signed Souza, but he is not ready to make an impact at the highest level. They have enquired about Estupinan’s availability.

It is a deal to keep an eye on, given that the Ecuadorian star worked with Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs’ main target for their managerial role, at Brighton & Hove Albion.

De Zerbi lauded him as ‘very smart’ and said he can become ‘one of the best left-backs in the world’.

Estupinan arrived in Italy this summer for around £20 million, but is below Davide Bartesaghi in the pecking order.

He may consider leaving the Serie A giants if the opportunity arises.

Estupinan is a solid, tireless full-back with a wicked cross. He can provide cover for Udogie and potentially usurp his place in the team.

However, the more intriguing element of this pursuit is what it says about Tottenham’s priorities. Left-back is hardly their most pressing issue.

The goalkeeping situation remains uncertain, the lack of a reliable defensive midfielder continues to leave them exposed, and there are deficiencies in attack.

Estupinan may be a good addition, but unless Spurs address the spine of the team, these peripheral upgrades risk papering over cracks rather than fixing the foundations.

Tudor might have to reinstate Kinsky in the Tottenham XI as Vicario undergoes surgery - sportsview.co.uk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur interim boss Igor Tudor might be forced to turn to Antonin Kinsky in the coming weeks.

Spurs first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is set to go under the knife after this weekend’s game for a hernia operation.

He will reportedly be out of action for around a month, even though it is a minor procedure.

While much of that month will be taken up by the international break, he is expected to still miss Tottenham’s clash with Sunderland on April 12.

Consequently, we might see Tottenham back-up shot-stopper Kinsky back between the sticks for the first time since his ‘nightmare’ performance versus Atletico Madrid.

The Spurs ace lined up in goal to replace the underperforming Vicario and was remarkably poor.

He made three errors leading to goals before being substituted off for Vicario on 17.

Tottenham fans will be filled with dread at the thought of the 23-year-old starting in goal. He has not covered himself in glory this season.

That looming uncertainty between the sticks only underlines a much bigger issue Tottenham must address in the summer.

With Vicario heading for the exit door and Kinsky clearly not ready to shoulder No.1 responsibilities, Spurs are staring at a full-blown goalkeeping reset.

Kinsky will benefit far more from a loan spell than being thrown back into the firing line in North London.

As a result, recruitment becomes important. Tottenham have already been linked with Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu.

The German is a highly-rated young goalkeeper with strong shot-stopping credentials.

Premier League-proven options like Dean Henderson and James Trafford are also on their radar.

Whoever they choose, the priority is clear – stability.

Spurs’ fragile backline has been exposed far too often this season, and without a commanding, reliable presence in goal, those issues will persist.

This summer offers a chance to finally fix that foundation.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have watched Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu as they search for goalkeeping reinforcements this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Tottenham need a new goalkeeper, with Guglielmo Vicario poised to leave the North London outfit this summer for a return to his native Italy.

Second-choice goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is also poised to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan in search of game time, leaving the club needing reinforcement.

Spurs’ radar has picked up the 6ft4ins Germany Under-21 international, who is enjoying another outstanding individual campaign in the Bundesliga.

Atubolu has been one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the German top flight, impressing with his agility and penalty-stopping heroics.

The 23-year-old has saved 5/8 penalties he has faced in the Bundesliga since breaking onto the scene and has notched up 33 clean sheets in 111 appearances.

Atubolu is not only an upgrade with his hands but also with his feet. He is a respectable ball distributor who has earned comparisons to the great Manuel Neuer.

Freiburg have come to terms with losing their star goalkeeper. Atubolu’s current deal expires in 2027, and they won’t want to let him go for free.

With a year left on his deal, it is the perfect opportunity for Tottenham to pounce and secure a promising goalkeeper. But he is not the only target they are assessing.

Besides Atubolu, Tottenham are also reportedly keeping tabs on Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace) and James Trafford (Manchester City).

However, Spurs are well aware that those two would cost significantly more than Atubolu. It remains to be seen which target the North Londoners will eventually push for.

Tottenham cannot afford to get it wrong with whoever they decide on.

They need a goalkeeper who brings stability to the backline, which in turn translates to the rest of the team.

Tottenham predicted XI vs Liverpool: Injury-hit Spurs face daunting Anfield trip - sportsview.co.uk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur head to Anfield on Sunday afternoon hoping to halt a disastrous run of results when they face Liverpool in the Premier League.

Spurs sit just above the relegation zone after a miserable stretch of form, losing six in a row across all competitions.

Their struggles continued in midweek with a heavy defeat in Europe.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are hunting for a top-four finish and will be confident of extending their strong home record against Tottenham.

This is one of the Premier League’s most entertaining fixtures, and fans will be in for a treat.

Match preview

Pressure continues to build on Tottenham boss Igor Tudor, whose side has endured one of the worst runs in the club’s history.

Spurs have taken just one point from their last six league games and are still searching for their first league victory of 2026.

Defensive frailties have been a major issue, with the team conceding heavily during Tudor’s brief spell in charge.

Their task at Anfield will not be easy. Liverpool have dominated this fixture, particularly at home, and they remain difficult to stop when their attacking unit clicks.

Mohamed Salah remains a major threat for Liverpool and has enjoyed notable success against Spurs throughout his career.

Tottenham will hope their attacking players can respond.

Richarlison has been involved in more league goals against Liverpool than any other opponent and could play a key role in a potential turnaround.

Match stats

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 31 home league games against Tottenham.

Spurs have won only one of their last 16 Premier League meetings with Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Tottenham is the highest-scoring fixture in Premier League history (200+ goals).

Spurs have taken 19 of their 29 league points away from home this season. An astonishing 66% of their tally has come on the road.

Tottenham team news

Tudor faces a major selection headache ahead of the trip to Merseyside.

Defender Cristian Romero and midfielder Joao Palhinha are both ruled out after suffering a clash of heads against Atletico Madrid in midweek.

Yves Bissouma is also unavailable due to a muscular problem, while centre-back Micky van de Ven is suspended following his red card against Crystal Palace.

The ‘priceless’ Conor Gallagher has been ill but could still make the squad.

Meanwhile, Destiny Udogie is nearing a return from injury, but the Italian international (12 caps) may not yet be ready to start.

Tottenham predicted XI (4-2-3-1)

Guglielmo Vicario; Pedro Porro, Kevin Danso, Radu Dragusin, Djed Spence; Archie Gray, Pape Matar Sarr; Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons, Richarlison; Dominic Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur eyeing likely options to replace interim head coach Igor Tudor

Tottenham Hotspur eyeing likely options to replace interim head coach Igor Tudor - sportsview.co.uk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are actively looking at candidates to replace interim manager Igor Tudor if they decide to sack him after the Liverpool game, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club have lost each of the four games the Croatian has overseen since replacing Thomas Frank some weeks ago.

Spurs lost 5-2 to Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie earlier this week and their fans have been calling for his head.

The North London club decided to stick with him for the trip to Anfield on Sunday, but it could be his last game in charge if they lose.

Tottenham will look to bring in another manager ahead of their second-leg against Atletico next Wednesday if that happens.

It is unknown whether their next appointment would be on an interim basis or a longer-term appointment.

Spurs will keep exploring their options ahead of Sunday and it is likely that they have already started to reach out to available managers.

A comeback against the La Liga club is unlikely, but a win against the Reds could give Tudor a lifeline.

They play Nottingham Forest next Sunday after the Atletico game in a huge and crucial relegation six-pointer, and the result could have a big say in the survival race.

The international break is after that game and Tudor could still be sacked by then if Spurs decide that is the best decision.

Tottenham players are unhappy with the former Juventus boss due to his style and personality, and he is unlikely to get the job permanently even if he manages to turn the fortunes of the club around in the coming games.

He humiliated second-choice goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky on Tuesday night, removing him just 17 minutes into the 5-2 loss to Atletico following two errors which led to goals and ignoring him as the Czech made his way to the dressing room afterwards.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has been at the training ground since the early hours of today, according to Sky Sports.

Atletico Madrid defeated Tottenham 5-2 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie last night.

Spurs manager Igor Tudor has lost the four games he has overseen since replacing Thomas Frank, and there are growing calls to sack him.

He spent the night at the on-site hotel of the Tottenham training ground, where he has been staying since moving to England.

It is unclear if he will oversee their Premier League game at Liverpool on Sunday or the return leg against Atletico next Wednesday. The Spurs boss and Venkatesham are in talks over recent performances.

The fans want Tudor gone as nothing has improved since his arrival, and the club could be in the relegation zone if they lose to Liverpool this weekend.

Spurs are two places and a point above the relegation zone ahead of their final nine league fixtures, and failure to quickly turn a corner could result in them playing Championship football next season.

They take on Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Chelsea and Everton in their remaining league games after this weekend.

Defeats to Arsenal, Fulham and Crystal Palace before last night already set the alarm bells ringing, and Tudor could be on his way out in the coming hours or if Spurs suffer another loss against Liverpool.

Tottenham have to do all they can to stay up, and fans will be hoping a smart decision is made before it is too late.

Newcastle United eyeing summer move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke

Newcastle United eyeing summer move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke - sportsview.co.uk
Description

Newcastle United are plotting a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs are currently languishing in 16th place, just one point above the relegation zone after a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday. Solanke scored Tottenham’s only goal.

If Spurs fail to avoid the drop, a summer exodus of high earners is anticipated. A lack of European football could also force the club to consider offers for key assets, with Solanke among those attracting interest.

Solanke has scored five goals in 14 appearances across all competitions this term, but has struggled for consistency in an underperforming Spurs side.

Newcastle view the forward as an ideal fit for Eddie Howe’s system, with the prospect of reuniting with his former manager likely to appeal to him.

A move to St James’ Park would also provide Solanke with a fresh challenge and the opportunity to compete for a top-six finish.

With Tottenham’s top-flight status in doubt, and Newcastle determined to strengthen their squad for a renewed European push, Solanke’s situation will be one to watch this summer.

The England international will hope to help his side navigate a daunting run of fixtures. They take on Atletico Madrid twice in eight days, either side of a trip to Liverpool.

Tudor headed straight down the tunnel after shaking hands with Arteta rather than console Tottenham Hotspur stars - sportsview.co.uk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Igor Tudor has already been hammering his players just a few days into his reign, according to the Telegraph.

The Croatian started life as the club’s manager with a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Tudor was far from pleased with the result and his players’ performances, and his reaction at full-time was telling.

Rather than consoling his players who lingered on the pitch, the Lilywhites boss shook hands with his Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta and headed straight down the tunnel.

Tudor was spotted shouting towards Tottenham defenders Radu Dragusin and Micky van de Ven to drag the back three higher up the pitch during the game.

He was just as vocal in his first training sessions last week and will hope his aggressive style yields much-needed results.

Yesterday’s defeat leaves Spurs in 16th place in the table, but they are now four points above the relegation zone.

They are back in action next Sunday with a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham, and they could do with all three points.

Tottenham face Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest afterwards in the Premier League, and they have to pick up as many points as possible to boost their survival chances.

It remains to be seen whether Tudor’s no-nonsense approach will work, but Spurs appointed Bruno Saltor to his coaching staff to try to bring the squad closer together.

He has a reputation for being a popular character in his previous jobs and will hope to get the best out of the players over the next few weeks.

Tottenham will get relegated if Xavi Simons does not find his groove quickly

Tottenham will get relegated if Xavi Simons does not find his groove quickly - sportsview.co.uk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a humiliating 4-1 home defeat against Arsenal yesterday.

Spurs had shown some signs of a resurgence, scoring just 42 seconds after the visitors took the lead, but it all dissipated.

Tottenham had no response when their arch-rivals upped the tempo, and they remain winless in 2026, facing a real threat of relegation.

Several players failed to step up yesterday, including summer signing Xavi Simons.

The Dutchman looked like he was finally finding his groove, but he has regressed again.

Simons lost a staggering 14/15 duels, made one error leading to a shot, and completed none of his attempted dribbles.

He lost possession of the ball a mind-blowing 24 times. Journalist Alasdair Gold claimed Simons ‘struggled‘. His 4/10 mark overstated his impact.

Spurs need someone who can take the ball under duress, glide past opponents and create something out of nothing.

Right now, that responsibility falls almost entirely on Simons’ shoulders. He is Tottenham’s only genuine creative outlet.

With confidence fragile and results spiralling, there is no room for passengers.

The numbers against Arsenal were alarming, but beyond the statistics was a worrying lack of authority and incision in possession.

Spurs are staring down the barrel of an unthinkable relegation battle. If they are to avoid it, Simons must rediscover his groove and fast.
