Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Jamie Donley on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, with an option to make the deal permanent.

The highly rated 20-year-old Northern Ireland international had an outstanding loan spell at Leyton Orient last season, scoring eight goals and registering a league-high 10 assists. Donley was also named Orient’s Player of the Season as the club reached the League One Play-Off Final.

An aggressive and creative attacker with a proven end product, he has earned six senior international caps and made four first team appearances for Tottenham Hotspur.

Jamie, who spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at Stoke, goes straight into the squad ahead of Oxford United’s next Championship fixture.

Speaking after completing the move, Donley said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me and one I’m determined to make the most of.

“I want to influence games and be decisive in the final third, but that all starts with hard work. I take real pride in working for the team and doing the basics right.

“My loan experiences have taught me a lot. I’ve had big highs and challenging moments but those are what shape you as a player. I feel ready to come here, compete, and show what I can bring.

“First and foremost, I’m here to fight for the badge. When I get on the ball, I want to be positive, take responsibility and create moments that help the team win.”

Head of Football Operations, Ed Waldron, added: “Jamie is an excellent signing for the Club and someone we’ve been tracking for some time. He was one of the standout performers in League One last season, consistently demonstrating his quality as both a scorer and a creator.

“He has the attitude and personality we look for. For his age, he shows real maturity, presence and has an outstanding work ethic.

“Our aim for this window is to add players who can raise the ceiling of the group, and Jamie fits that profile perfectly. With his quality and experience at both club and international level, we are confident he can make an immediate impact.”

Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of Tottenham Hotspur striker Will Lankshear on a season-long loan.

One of the most highly regarded young strikers in the country, the 20-year-old made six first team appearances for Spurs last season, scoring in the UEFA Europa League against Galatasaray.

Coming through the academy systems at Arsenal and Sheffield United, the England Under-20 international joined Tottenham in 2022. In the 2023/24 season, Lankshear scored 25 goals in 27 appearances across Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy for the London club, showcasing his ability in front of goal.

Having also spent the second half of last season playing in the Championship for West Bromwich Albion, Lankshear immediately joins the squad ahead of Saturday’s league opener against Portsmouth.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for me to be joining a great Club,” Lankshear said after signing. “I learned so much last season in the first team at Tottenham and West Brom and I’m ready to now kick on with Oxford United.

“I’ve had some really good conversations with the manager, and I feel like this is the right place for me to be.

“I love nothing more than scoring goals. I want to do my best to bring as many as I can this season.

“My game is about more than just goals though. I’m a player that has taken all the information from the top professionals I’ve worked with and I’m now ready to bring it together, work hard for the team and deliver for the Club.”

Head Coach, Gary Rowett, said: “Will is an athletic, strong, quick goalscorer and someone who we feel can make an immediate impact.

“He has an outstanding record at youth level with club and country. He knows the way to goal, and we hope he can add those qualities to our team.

“With Nik Prelec and Will added to the squad in recent days, we are really pleased with the work that has been done to strengthen the forward line for the new season.”

Head of Football Operations, Ed Waldron, said: “Throughout the summer, we have worked tirelessly as a recruitment department to identify the right strikers for this team.

“It was always our intention to bring two quality forwards to the Club, and we are delighted to have followed Nik Prelec with this loan deal for Will.

“He is one of the most exciting young forwards in the country. To bring in someone of his talent and ability is fantastic for the Club and we hope he can be an important player for us this season.”

Everyone at Oxford United welcomes Will to the Club.
