Yesterday, it emerged that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City had begun negotiations over a potential deal that would see Savinho sign for Spurs. Late last night, Fabrizio Romano relayed a report from Matteo Moretto on X thay broke that news. Now it has been reported that Manchester City could potentially move for RB Leipzig’s versatile attacking midfielder Xavi Simons or Real Madrid winger Rodrygo if Savinho leaves the club. It now seems that City are moving quickly to cover all possibilities if Savinho does depart that club.

Tottenham have moved to sign Savinho, but Manchester City have so far held firm.

David Ornstein and Guillermo Rai have reported for The Athletic that Tottenham have approached Manchester City over the possibility of signing Savinho. Furthermore, The Athletic reports that Tottenham and City discussed a package worth up to £43.3 million to sign Savinho. The Athletic reports that Manchester City would want significantly more to sell the Brazilian international. Lastly, it is also reported that Savinho is open to a move to Tottenham.

Two potential replacements for Savinho have now been reported.

If Manchester City did sell Savinho, they would be in the market for another winger. Savinho would have likely played on the right wing. Oscar Bobb, Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva can all play that position. If Savinho did leave Pep Guardiola’s squad, it would need another winger. Cherki, Foden, and Bernardo Silva will likely all play considerable time in central roles. Now two reports have named Xavi Simons and Rodrygo as potential Manchester City targets.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that City are considering a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. Furthermore, Romano reports that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the Brazilian international. Lastly, Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid would let Rodrygo leave the club if he wants for a transfer fee of around €100 million.

Sacha Tavolieri reports that Manchester City could be set to rival Chelsea for the signing of Xavi Simons. Furthermore, Tavolieri reports that City have contacted Xavi Simons’ agent over a potential move to the Etihad.

Any City move for Rodrygo or Xavi Simons would depend on Savinho leaving the club. That domino is the one that likely has to fall first. But if Savinho is open to leaving Pep Guardiola’s side, it is highly likely that he will. City typically don’t keep players who are open to leaving the club.

Rodrygo or Xavi Simons would be a fine replacement for Savinho. They are both proven performers at the highest level. All of a sudden, a big week lies ahead for Manchester City. Just when it seemed that it would be a quiet ending to the transfer window in terms of incomings at Etihad, another big move may be on the cards for Pep Guardiola’s side.

A shock departure could be on the cards for Manchester City.

A shock departure could be on the cards for Manchester City but where the move leads to could be exciting - Esteemed Kompany

As the summer transfer window draws to a close, Manchester City is focused on outgoings. Pep Guardiola’s squad must be trimmed before the transfer window slams shut. Players such as Jack Grealish, James McAtee, and Stefan Ortega seem destined to leave Manchester City in the coming weeks. Their departures wouldn’t come as a significant surprise.

But as City focuses on trimming the size of Pep Guardiola’s squad, Savinho has been linked with a shock move to Tottenham Hotspur. That news comes as a significant surprise. But if Savinho were to move to Tottenham, it could open up the possibility for City to make one more big move this summer.

Tottenham and Manchester City have begun negotiations over the potential sale of Savinho.

Fabrizio Romano has relayed a report from Matteo Moretto that Tottenham and Manchester City have begun negotiations over a deal that would see Savinho sign for Spurs. Furthermore, Romano reports that talks are ongoing between the two clubs. It is also reported that Savinho is open to a move to Tottenham. Lastly, Romano reports that Thomas Frank is a huge fan of the Brazilian international.

If Savinho leaves City will have to replace him.

The report from Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto is a major surprise. Savinho has only been at Manchester City for a season. He showed flashes of his talent and potential last season. He also impressed during the second half of Manchester City’s 3-nil win over Palermo. Given his age, there is the potential that Savinho could develop into a top-quality winger in time. He also figured to be a prominent player during the 25/26 season for Pep Guardiola’s side. If Savinho did leave City for Tottenham, Manchester City would have to replace him. That’s where it could get exciting.

The only way I could see Manchester City selling Savinho is if they had a replacement lined up. They would need a winger who could impact Pep Guardiola’s squad instantly. Who that could be remains to be seen. But Savinho is a player with exceptional talent and potential. Perhaps City have their eyes on a readymade player who can immediately step in and contribute. If Savinho is sold what City do next will be fascinating to watch unfold.

But it does appear thay Savinho is open to a move to Tottenham. That could see him sold by Manchester City if Tottenham meet Manchester City’s asking price. Savinho’s future is now a major story to watch progress. If he is sold it would be expected that Manchester City will make a big move in the transfer market. That would almost be a given at this stage of proceedings.
