Three draws in four Premier League outings has opened the door for Manchester City in the title race and Arsenal will be out to quash accusations of being 'bottle jobs' in their visit to north London rivals Tottenham.

The Gunners remain in the driving seat at the top but throwing away a two-goal lead at Wolves on Wednesday has raised concerns and Spurs, who are preparing for their first match under new boss Igor Tudor, will want to inflict further damage as they bid to ease their relegation fears.

Tottenham vs Arsenal betting tips & predictions

Best player bet

Longshot

Arsenal to be leading after ten minutes

Tottenham vs Arsenalpreview

Having finished second in the Premier League title race in each of the last three seasons, there is a sense of angst that history could be about to repeat itself for Arsenal.

The Gunners remain at the top of the Premier League table but have been held to score draws in their last two games away to Brentford and Wolves, the latest of which provides the most concern as they blew a two-goal lead against the basement boys.

Matters may still just about be in Arsenal’s hands, but Manchester City are in hot pursuit and Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side resume winning ways at north London rivals Tottenham.

Spurs have been easy to oppose for much of the season but a first game in charge for new boss Igor Tudor adds an extra element of spice to an already fierce rivalry.

Tudor’s opening task is made harder by a crippling injury list but he has enjoyed short-term success with clubs such as Lazio and Juventus in Serie A and is likely to trigger some sort of response from a team who started the weekend only five points clear of the relegation places.

Reverting to a back-three system is likely to be in the offing for Tudor and, although defensive deficiencies may persist, there should be opportunity for players such as Xavi Simon and Dominic Solanke to cause problems.

Having been so defensively irresistible for much of Arteta’s tenure, Arsenal have conceded in nine of their last 13 away games, including twice at Sunderland, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Wolves.

Tottenham’s league home games against Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle have all produced over 2.5 goals with both teams scoring and this fixture has often delivered more than it has not.

Three or more goals and both sides finding the net have been a feature of seven of the last ten north London derbies and, with motivation at a maximum for both clubs, that trend can be enhanced.

Speedy Simons set to taunt Timber

Tottenham will be relying on Simons to provide their attacking impetus and, having drawn 34 fouls in 20 games, Arsenal will have to be careful with their challenges.

Simons has drawn three or more fouls in five of his last nine Premier League appearances and with the Dutchman preferring a left-sided role, Gunners right-back Jurrien Timber could be tested.

Timber picked up a first-half booking on last season’s trip to Tottenham and has been carded in three of his last nine matches.

Gunners should make another quick start

Arsenal have opened the scoring in their last nine matches and they will look to catch Tottenham cold with another fast start.

The Gunners took just five minutes to take the lead at Wolves on Wednesday and that was the fourth time in that run of nine games that they were in the ascendancy after 11 minutes or fewer.

Next Tottenham manager latest: Is a return on the cards for Robbie Keane or Mauricio Pochettino? - Racing Post
Description

Roberto De Zerbi remains favourite to be Tottenham's next manager, but two club legends have emerged among the frontrunners to replace Thomas Frank over the last 24 hours.

Tottenham sacked Frank after less than eight months in charge following Tuesday night's 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle.

Spurs' latest setback saw them drop to 16th in the Premier League standings, just five points above the relegation zone, and they are as short as 5-1 for the drop.

Former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi left Marseille by mutual consent earlier on Wednesday and was introduced as the 8-11 favourite to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, he has been pushed out to 6-4 with money coming for John Heitinga as well as former Spurs favourites Robbie Keane and Mauricio Pochettino.

Heitinga, who had spells in the Premier League as a player with Everton and Fulham, joined Frank's backroom team in January after an unsuccessful five-month spell in charge of Ajax, where he cut his coaching teeth with the club's youth team.

The Dutch international was assistant to compatriot Arne Slot at Liverpool last term, when his role in the Reds' title win persuaded Ajax to hand him the reins of the first team. He was as short as 11-8 to take over from his former boss, but can now be backed at 5-2.

Pochettino, who is the current manager of the United States national team, spent five seasons at the club as manager, leading them to the 2018-19 Champions League final.

The Argentinian would be a hugely popular choice among Tottenham fans, but is unlikely to be available until after the World Cup. He is 4-1 to be Spurs' next permanent manager.

Keane, meanwhile, had two stints as a Tottenham player and he is earning glowing reports for his work as manager of Hungarian champions Ferencvaros. The Irishman is an 11-2 chance from 10-1 to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Analysis: Spurs board don't have the luxury of thinking long term

Tottenham have been a top-flight club for the best part of 50 years, but their Premier League status is at serious risk after Tuesday's home defeat to Newcastle.

Many Spurs fans had lost faith in Thomas Frank long before the damaging 2-1 loss, which extended Spurs' winless league run to eight games and saw them drop to 16th in the table.

They are only five points clear of the bottom three, and there is the potential for much worse to come for the injury-ravaged Londoners.

Arsenal are the next visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and, without a massive improvement, there is a clear chance of a heavy, morale-sapping defeat which could impact the rest of the Lilywhites' campaign.

While unthinkable at the start of the season, relegation is a real possibility for last season's Europa League winners – they are 6-1 for the drop from 40-1 pre-season – and it is vital the club's decision-makers prioritise the short term when picking Frank's successor.

Mauricio Pochettino is prominent in the early betting and would be a popular choice among many Spurs supporters. But the Argentinian, who is currently the head coach of the USA, is unavailable until after this summer's World Cup, and any plan to bring him back would limit Tottenham's options for the final months of this campaign.

With captain Cristian Romero suspended and 11 players injured, nine of whom are out until at least the middle of March, Tottenham do not have the luxury of strategic, long-term thinking.

They need somebody to come in and give them an instant lift ahead of 12 games which could have a huge impact on the club's future.

That probably rules out managerial novice Johnny Heitinga, a recent addition to Frank's backroom staff, but highly regarded available managers with Premier League experience are thin on the ground.

Roberto De Zerbi parted company with Marseille only hours before news broke of Frank's departure and was linked with a number of big jobs while in charge of Brighton.

However, there is a pressing need to appoint somebody with tactical flexibility and current experience in a Premier League dugout.

Fulham manager Marco Silva, who was linked with the job in the summer before Frank's appointment, could therefore be an ideal candidate.

Silva may or may not be prepared to push for an exit from the Cottagers, who, unlike Spurs, are in a comfortable mid-table position. But the Portuguese's teams are generally well organised and tough to beat, qualities Tottenham desperately need if they are to avoid the unthinkable.

Frank leaves the north London outfit having won only 13 of his 38 games in charge since moving from Brentford, where he spent seven successful years at the helm, last summer.

Former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi left Marseille by mutual consent earlier on Wednesday morning and is the early frontrunner with bookmakers to replace Frank.

The Italian is 8-11 with Betfair and Paddy Power to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently manager of the United States national team, next in at 4-1.

Robbie Keane, who had two spells with the club as a player, is a 10-1 chance to take the job, the same price as former Barcelona boss Xavi.

Tottenham and Manchester City came through potentially awkward ties against Eintracht Frankfurt and Galatasaray on Wednesday to secure their passage straight to the last 16 of the Champions League.

They now have a month or so to focus on domestic matters, starting with City's quest to avenge August's 2-0 home defeat to Thomas Frank's side.

That scoreline was also the result of the pair's midweek wins and might provide some guidance on how Sunday's meeting at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will unfold.

Tottenham vs Manchester Citypreview

These are strange days at Tottenham. Wednesday's 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt secured their passage into the last 16 of the Champions League but the fans are far from happy.

Finishing fourth in the European league phase means they now have a month to focus on domestic matters, and Sunday's visit from Manchester City is the first game of a ferocious February fixture list including a trip to Manchester United before hosting Newcastle and Arsenal.

Thomas Frank's position may become untenable by March 1's trip to Fulham, but it could have been so different.

Despite winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou lost his job after Spurs finished 17th in the league - and Frank's dynamic work at Brentford made him an obvious replacement.

August's 2-0 win at the Etihad earned early acclaim, but the praise was short-lived.

Anger is now simmering at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and supporters are unimpressed by a record of two wins from 11 home league games.

City beat Galatasaray 2-0 in midweek and are also into the last 16 of the Champions League.

They have won to nil on their last two league visits to N17 and need to respond on the road after losing 2-0 at Old Trafford and 3-1 to Bodo/Glimt.

Micky van de Ven should return for Spurs but injuries continue to hinder Frank. Of August's starting line-up at the Etihad, five are unavailable, with four injured and opening goalscorer Brennan Johnson sold to Crystal Palace.

The Dane deserves credit for guiding Tottenham through the league phase of the Champions League. Conversely, the difficult schedule may give him more time, as the board would be unwilling to place any replacement under immediate pressure.

More boos may force their hand, and a City side who have won their last two games without conceding are unlikely to show the Dane much mercy.

Semenyo can haunt Spurs again

Tottenham were among the clubs interested in Antoine Semenyo before he joined City, and he has a recent history against Spurs, scoring the winner as Bournemouth beat them 3-2 on January 7.

The 26-year-old has scored five times in his last eight Premier League appearances and could trouble Tottenham again.

City to turn the tables

A repeat of the reverse fixture's 2-0 away win looks highly likely. Both clubs won by that scoreline on Wednesday, meaning that has been the outcome in two of Tottenham's last three matches and four of City's last five.

Key stats for Tottenham vs Manchester City

♦ Tottenham have won two of their last 14 league games

♦ City have won to nil on three of their last four visits to Spurs

♦ Tottenham won 2-0 at the Etihad - that scoreline has also occurred in two of their last three and four of City's last five

♦ Antoine Semenyo has scored five goals in his last eight Premier League games

♦ Man City have not conceded before the break in any of their last nine league games

Both Tottenham and Manchester City won 2-0 on Wednesday, guaranteeing safe passage to the Champions League last 16 and allowing each a month to focus on domestic matters.

They meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Sunday's late game and past results trend towards an away win.

Recent meetings have produced one-sided scorelines, but the attacking quality on both teams hints at another exciting match.

Jack Ogalbe has picked out three selections for Sunday's game and his Bet Builder pays out at 11-2.

Tottenham v Manchester City betting tips and predictions

Man City to score two goals

Erling Haaland to score

Xavi Simons to have 1+ shots

Pays out at 11-2 with bet365

Man City to score two goals

Both teams won 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday and the proliferation of that scoreline in the pair's recent results suggests a nil for one of the sides on Sunday.

At least one team has failed to score in the pair's last four league meetings, with Tottenham winning 4-0 at the Etihad last season before triumphing 2-0 at the ground in August's reverse fixture. Meanwhile, City won 2-0 in N17 in May 2024 and were 1-0 winners at Spurs in February 2025.

Of City's last five games, four have been 2-0 results (W3, L1) and they have also not conceded before the break in their last nine league games.

They are the favourites for Sunday's clash and could continue a recent trend in Tottenham's results.

Aston Villa triumphed 2-1 at Spurs in the FA Cup, before West Ham won by the same scoreline in the Premier League.

Tottenham's most recent league fixture was a 2-2 draw at Burnley, and City could be the latest side to score exactly twice against Thomas Frank's team.

Erling Haaland to Score

Erling Haaland had scored only once in nine games before the win over Galatasaray but the way he took his goal on Wednesday suggested his recent run has done little to dent his confidence.

Sent through by Jeremy Doku, Haaland scooted in behind Abdulkerim Bardakci before dinking the ball over on-rushing goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

It was masterful play by the forward and took his scoring tally for this season to 40 in 38 appearances for club and country.

Haaland has scored four goals in seven Premier League appearances against Tottenham.

The last three have come in away games, and the Norwegian's skill, size, pace, and movement make him an omnipotent threat.

Xavi Simons to have 1+ shots

Summer signing Xavi Simons is starting to settle into English football after joining Tottenham from RB Leipzig.

The mercurial Dutchman had an early goal disallowed in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt and has been tallying up shots in the league.

Simons has had seven attempts at goal in his team's last three league games and is never afraid to try his luck, often when frustration gets the better of him.

Tottenham were booed off at half-time and full-time on Saturday when defeat to West Ham made it three losses in a row, and Frank badly needs a good performance from his side if he is to save his job.

Fixing a defence which has shipped eight goals in four games will be top of the Dane's priority list, but a first clean sheet of 2026 is unlikely to arrive against Dortmund, the Champions League's joint-highest scorers.

BVB are level with Spurs on 11 points but their forwards have made a much bigger impact on the European stage, combining for an impressive 19 goals in the league phase.

That said, Niko Kovac's defence has been far less effective, shipping 13 goals in just six games, suggesting an exciting affair between two well-matched and attack-minded teams is on the cards at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham return home after taking four points from a possible six on their travels, but Thomas Frank remains under pressure after a drab goalless draw with his former side Brentford on Thursday.

Sunderland, meanwhile, continue to prove the naysayers after holding Manchester City to a goalless draw on New Year's Day, a result which saw them consolidate their position in the top half.

Tottenham vs Sunderland betting tips & predictions

Best bet

Under 2.5 goals

Tottenham vs Sunderlandpreview

Sunderland again demonstrated their rock-solid defensive foundations in Thursday's goalless draw with Manchester City and it could be in evidence once more at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Only Arsenal and City have conceded fewer goals than the Black Cats and goalkeeper Robin Roefs continues to stake his claim to being the signing of the season.

Roefs' underlying numbers are the best of any stopper in the top flight and, despite losing almost half of their first-choice 11 to Africa Cup of Nations duty, Sunderland continue to make a mockery of pre-season expecations.

Things are less rosy for Spurs and Thomas Frank, whose pragmatic approach does not seem to be bringing the best out of his players or endearing the Dane to Lilywhites supporters.

Thursday's goalless draw at Frank's former employers Brentford means that Spurs have won just three of their last 11 games and they had the 16th best expected-goals figure (17.8) coming into this weekend's round of fixtures.

Sunderland are one of just three teams with an inferior figure, suggesting Sunday's meeting could be a low-key affair.

Tottenham vs Sunderland Bet Builder

Under 2.5 goals

Sunderland have been rock-solid at the back and can keep a Tottenham team struggling for fluidity at arm's length.

Trai Hume to be shown a card

The Northern Ireland international has received four yellows this season and was fortunate not to be shown another against Manchester City.

Richarlison to have a shot on target

The Brazilian has registered six shots on target in his last six games and seems likely to be Spurs' biggest threat on Sunday.
