Tottenham Hotspur are beginning to show their teeth under Thomas Frank, and two of their standout performers have now earned a place in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.

Tottenham Hotspur secured a very vital win in their last Premier League outing against Everton at the Hill Dickson Stadium.

There were several standout performers for Thomas Frank’s side who put three past Everton while also keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Spurs now sit in third place in the Premier League table and will hope to keep pace with those above them in the coming months.

Alan Shearer names Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario in his Team of the Week

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has now named his Team of the Week for matchweek nine, and the former Newcastle United forward has given recognition to two Tottenham stars.

Guglielmo Vicario made it to Shearer’s team after the Italian’s top saves against Everton, where he prevented 0.96 goals and ensured Spurs stayed in control.

Speaking about the 29-year-old on the official Premier League site, Shearer praised Vicario’s decisive moments in goal and wrote: “Made two incredible saves to deny Beto and Iliman Ndiaye, protecting Spurs’ 2-0 lead before they got their third goal in an excellent win at Everton.”

Micky van de Ven was also outstanding, earning recognition from Shearer after scoring a brace against Everton, with both of his goals coming from set pieces.

Writing on the Dutchman’s performance, Shearer highlighted his composure and influence at the back for Spurs, saying: “An outstanding captain’s performance.

“In a tricky away match, Van de Ven stepped up to score with two brilliant headers and produced a commanding display at centre-back.”
