Alasdair Gold has revealed which positions Tottenham Hotspur will prioritise over the next two transfer windows.

Going by the speculation over the last few weeks, it appears Spurs could be set for a busy January in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Thomas Frank is looking to put his own imprint on this squad, and it has been claimed that the Tottenham boss will be handed a £150m transfer war chest for January.

Over the last couple of months, several reports have indicated that Spurs’ priority is to sign a top-class left-winger, but it has now been claimed that the Lilywhites are also keen on upgrades in other areas.

Four positions Tottenham want to strengthen

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now backed up the claim that a left-back is a priority next month, but he reveals that the North Londoners want to replace the entire left-hand side of the team.

It does not come as a surprise to hear that Tottenham also want a left-back, given that Ben Davies is in the final year of his contract and Destiny Udogie continues to struggle with injuries.

Gold adds that over the next two transfer windows, Tottenham also want to add a midfielder and another centre-back to their squad.

Why Spurs fans should not expect too many signings in January

In his post-match press conference on Sunday, Thomas Frank was non-committal about Tottenham’s January objectives, stating that the Lilywhites will only act if the right opportunities present themselves.

One can understand why the Dane said that, as only a small fraction of transfers are done during January, with clubs often hesitant to sell top players mid-season.

While there is no doubt that the Tottenham squad is in desperate need of reinforcements, it is unlikely that the club would make more than two signings next month, particularly if they get the sense that more ideal targets would be on the market in the summer.
