Tottenham are expecting to appoint a new head coach in the next couple of days after Igor Tudor left the club, according to Alasdair Gold.

The north London club have had a shocking campaign so far and currently sit just one point above the relegation zone with seven games remaining in the Premier League, following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest before the international break.

That result was enough to convince Spurs bosses that interim boss Tudor should leave, despite only being appointed earlier this month to replace Thomas Frank, and now they will need someone else to come in to guide them to safety.

Tottenham Want New Boss in Place in Days

Tottenham don't have another fixture until they face off against Sunderland on April 12th, and it has now emerged that the club are keen to appoint a new manager within a couple of days.

Spurs don't currently have anyone lined up, however, they are hopeful that they want the new man in place by the time the first-team players return from international duty in the middle of next week, to give them around 10 days of working together before the trip to the Stadium of Light.

Coach Bruno Saltor will remain at the club and will oversee training for a handful of players at Hotspur Way until the new man is in place.

Tottenham have been keen to convince Roberto De Zerbi to take the job immediately, rather than waiting until the summer, but so far he has not been open to coming in now.

Tottenham Need to Get It Right

There's no room for error in north London right now for Spurs, and they know that they simply cannot afford to get the decision of the next manager wrong.

With such a short space of time to turn things around, whoever comes in will need to make an immediate impact, and while De Zerbi would potentially be a good long-term appointment, his ideas and methods are known to be quite complex, which could be an issue anyway.

Tottenham need to get it right, but they also need to make the decision quickly, and now it will be interesting to see what they can muster up in the next couple of days.
